When a viral picture drives paranormal enthusiasts to the Venetian Lagoon to investigate the mysterious ghost of Baby Blu, the freezing storms they were warned against become as real as the ghost herself. In a heart-wrenching race to find the truth, ghost hunters and loved ones must join together if they want to make it out alive.
In this epic paranormal mystery, expect to receive chills and thrills, and the feels.
Azurra Blu Morteluca (Baby Blu) disappeared from her parents’ Castillo Ombrastella on Italy’s Venetian Lagoon when she was 5 years old. An unwanted child, she is cared for and loved by two household servants, Gio and Silvia, employed to make sure she didn’t impose on her parents and their guests. Suspicion falls immediately on Gio and Silvia and they are dismissed the day after the disappearance. Since Baby Blu’s disappearance, there have been continued to be rumors of ghostly visions appearing in and around the Castillo—first of a child then girls and young women who appear to be the age of Baby Blu if she had lived. There have also been violent winter storms on every fifth anniversary of the disappearance.
When a picture showing what appears to be a spirit goes viral, it peaks the interest of two paranormal investigators who want to film an investigation into the claims about the visitations. Despite warnings of winter storms, they gain permission to look into the reports of paranormal activity. Along with guests of a haunted weekend, including Gio, Silvia, local weekend hosts, and others interested in Baby Blu, the investigators and crew assemble to observe the anniversary of the child’s disappearance. As soon as they arrive, things begin to threaten the group and it becomes more dangerous than just being isolated by a winter storm.
This book blends ghost stories, haunted house, mystery-thrillers, psychological thrillers, and horror tales. It is a tale of a lost little girl and the world she builds around herself. The characters are well developed and the location is appropriately spooky and nerve wracking—just right to peak the readers’ senses of dread, fear and things that go bump in the dark. Recommend to readers of psychological mystery thrillers, ghosts, paranormal, horror, fantasy, and romance.
P.S. This book is paired with a RPG (narrative role playing game) that provides prompts and guides for the reader to respond to in a journal entry format ( print or digital) that explores the immersive exploration of the town and the castle. I am not a gamer but was curious about this option so I bought the digital version. The prompts were interesting, made me think about issues that I didn’t while reading the book and added to appreciation for the story.

Great Ghost Story for Spooky Season (or Any Time of Year)
First of all - I love a map of the setting and newspaper articles as part of a story, and Revenant has both! These elements, right off the bat, give the novel a grounded feeling, like it could have actually happened, and they, along with the shocking disappearance of the little girl, Azurra Blu, drew me in right away.
I enjoyed the diverse POVs, including Blu, her original caregivers (Gio and Silvia) and the blackbird-boy, Merlo. Each had a distinct voice and lots of intrigue surrounding them.
The mystery elements made this a page-turner, and I finished the book in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down! I racked my brain trying to figure out what happened to Blu and the blackbird-boy, and the answer to the mystery was very satisfying.
The paranormal investigation part of the story was very well done (and kind of hilarious), and the metaphysical explanations of ghostly impacts on the physical world were so good that I thought the author must be a psychic medium, or have some kind of inside line on the ghost world.
I’ve read other books by the author and they are excellent, but this one is by far my favorite. Highly recommend if you like a deep mystery, compelling characters, dreamy atmosphere in a scary castle, and lots of action.
This book follows several characters, one being the spirit of a 5 year old girl that went missing and another being the crow that is tied to her curse. It had a dark, gothic tone throughout and was quite an interesting read. I loved Azurra and Merlo. Theirs were my favorite POVs to follow. The overall story was great, I just wish there had been a little more description of events happening and clarification throughout. I was still left with questions after all the big questions had been answered. Small questions not having to do with the storyline but things that I noticed outside of the plot. I had no expectations going into this book and I was pleasantly surprised by it. Thank you to the author for the ARC of this book. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
An imaginative ghost story set against the atmospheric backdrop of the Venetian Lagoon. Baby Blu’s haunting presence brings together paranormal investigators and people connected to her past, while dangerous storms add a sense of isolation and menace. Beneath the supernatural mystery is a story about grief, love, and the difficulty of facing a painful truth. The connection between the haunting and the characters’ buried secrets gives this unusual tale its emotional heart.
The characters are relatable. The story's setting and plot are fun.
I greatly appreciate the opportunity to advance read this novel. Amber Selene has obviously put a great deal of passion and love into this story. I'm sure you'll appreciate it too.
So many broken souls, yet fate has a way of helping to mend it all. What a beautiful paranormal romantic thriller. Young adults to the young at heart will find this book uplifting. This story reminds us all to keep our loved ones close and to acknowledge them always. Fantastical use of language, to bring the paranormal to life. Replace your doom scrolling, with this work of art. Time well spent.

This is quite the unique story in the paranormal genre. I received this as an advanced copy from the author. I thought the story was really good, and enjoyed the different characters as the story followed them. It was not too long and it kept my attention pretty well throughout. While this is not my normal reading genre I was excited to read a paranormal story. I so hope to read more by this author.
I throughly enjoyed this read. The transition of character perspectives was an interesting approach, but the storytelling was carefully crafted. I am glad it was limited to just a few, it helped keep the pace and still reveal information in a unique way. I had growing compassion and sympathy for Azurra and Silvia. Merlo's character development was a fun ride.
ARC Review This was a fun, quick read! I loved the incorporation of the news articles. Such a fun addition! I didn’t really know what to expect going into this, but I loved the different PoVs and overall storyline.
