Book One sets the pace for this two book series. Discover the conclusion to the story in Book Two. When seventy year-old Martha Powers is bludgeoned to death, the police are quick to point a finger at the young girl who cleans her home. The crime is horrendous and many valuables are stolen. And according to all evidence, only fifteen year-old Mattie Baker had opportunity and motive. Renowned defense attorney Brady Flynn is retained by the girl’s father, and, at first, the case appeared to be a slam dunk win. But when lies are exposed and cover-ups revealed, nothing is as it first appeared. As the court room battle draws near, Brady’s world is further complicated by the reawakening of an old love affair. With the pressure reaching the boiling point, Brady realizes he is fighting the battle of his career.
Another author who needs a good editor. An interesting plot but poor character development. The fact that it has to spill over to a second book to reach a conclusion is not a point in its favor. The only reason to read this book, or the Brady Flynn #2, is because it is a free read from Kindle Unlimited, and even then, it comes close to not being worth the effort.
This new trend of authors selling books that are incomplete is infuriating. "Rush to Justice" was an enjoyable story right up until it ended in the middle of no where and to continue the story the reader must purchase the next book in the series.
I truly hope other readers out there will take the same stand that I have and refuse to purchase books that end during the climax if the story.
It is also inconceivable to me that McIntosh asked readers to write a review on an unfinished book.
I found upon reading this book that it was placed on Amazon/Goodreads as only a gimmick to entice you to purchase book two. The book never finished the story. Unlike some authors who write series of books about the same main character this author stopped in the middle of the story. Very disappointed as I did enjoy the story line. Will not be purchasing book two or any other book by this author.
I love legal thrillers and enjoyed the story line. However I think some of the plotting and dialogue was amateurish and prosaic, using cliches. I don’t think in real life an experienced criminal defense attorney would not say or do the things expressed here. Perhaps the author is an experienced attorney but new to writing novels. I just cringed at much of the dialogue, which sounded more like a bad romance novel. I don’t expect John Grisham but I am not surprised inclined to read further in this series. I was getting bored halfway through.
I absolutely loved his writing style. With his character descriptions, I could actually see them in my mind as I was reading. I am thrilled to say I have a new author who writes legal thrillers to follow. I am now on to the next book in the series! Cannot wait to find out what happens!!
This was a pretty good story. Surprised that it is a two part story. The lead character Brady is likable but the other characters not so much. If you have time to kill this is ok to spend your time on.
Looking forward to this book, I was surprised to find Mr. McIntosh didn"t live up to his usual witty characters and as a matter of fact, his characters were interestingly retro.
Annoyed to discover that the conclusion requires a separate purchase..too sneaky to shake some extra $$ from the reader..!! Story line interesting..stay away from author..
Here we go again with a freebie Book 1 that leaves you hanging, You do get a warning though, so if you get annoyed it's your own fault. Book 2 is available at a decent price, so if I was you I'd get them both straight off, because you are certain to want to know what happened. It was definitely a legal thriller; if you want to know how things work in the US legal system there's enough detail here to get you through college. As for the story, there are some issues but maybe a couple of the seemingly throwaway paragraphs will re-surface in Book 2 and find resolution. I'm not an expert on cars either, but if someone sold me an Alpha Romeo, even I'd get twitchy about it being an authentic Italian sports car. Despite the occasional glitch, I enjoyed the pace and premise of the story and one day I might check out Book 2. Maybe tomorrow.
I enjoyed the book. It was an easy comfortable read that kept my interest. I do wish this had been 1 entire book instead of 2 separate purchases. I immediately went and bought book 2. I had to know how the story ended, but felt that this really should have been 1 book. I would be more tempted to spend money on his books if I new that they were going to have a satisfying ending and not require me to spend more money on just a little over 200 pages total.
The story moved quickly with not many surprises until the very end and then left the reader hanging. I was expecting Jennifer to turn up as Mattie's mother, and half expecting Brady to be her father. It still could happen in Book 2 which I downloaded right away.
Little did I know that this book would end so abruptly with a request for money to read the rest of it. Sorry, not going to happen. 'Mattie's' fate will remain unknown to this reader as now I simply don't care.
This books moves along nicely easily. Plot flows smoothly. My only complaint is that it is a series book and I will have to buy book 2 to continue the story. I feel as though it could have been one book, not a series.
Enjoyed the. Story so far. Good writing interesting plot but don't having one story split into two books. That is a Money ploy and don't you should treat your readers as such.
It is absolutely ridiculous to promote an incomplete story. Bad marketing, bad decision-making. Yes, I should have read more closely but, no, I will not fork up $3 to read what should have been included in the first book.
Wow, what an ending to book one. Now for sure I need to read book two to see how this plays out. Great plot, are you sure you know who really did this?
You'll be happier if you skip this one. It's merely an intro into other books in the series and ends after it's determined whether the case will be heard in juvenile or adult court.
Didn't like that book one ended in the middle of the story, then asked you too buy book two too finish reading the novel. Just wanted other readers to know that this was the case with this novel.
I love this & I can't wait for more. I will be also leaving a review on Goodreads @ Amazon. And letting everyone know about it. So i gave it a 5 Stars.
