Scoring A Sweet Thing

Help! I need a date to protect me from grandmas touching my butt!

Remington

I’m an easygoing guy: I go with the flow, take everything in my stride, name marshmallows one at a time. It’s rare anything bothers me, but when I’m reminded of the upcoming charity event the NHL team I play for hosts, panic sets in.

The dreaded bachelor auction.

I love contributing to the community, but I always end up with the overly-handsy senior citizens of Seattle.

So when our PR manager offers me a loophole, I grab it with both hands. The only stipulation? I have to find a plus one in less than a week.

Simple, right?

Then I match with Bailey on the Heart2Heart app and realize I’ve landed myself more than a date. That I might have finally scored someone who actually sees me.

Weird goalie traits and all.

Scoring a Sweet Thing is a 16k word short story featuring a hockey goalie with a love for marshmallows and an introverted tattoo artist. It originally appeared in the Heart2Heart Anthology Vol. 8, and no additional material has been added.

I listened to the audiobook and it was soooo much fun!
The characters had so much personality and Nick J. Russo did an amazing job!
I especially loved the differences in Bailey’s and Remi’s characters and how despite them, they were just perfect for each other.
Bailey, the grumpy, introverted black cat and Remi, the extroverted golden retriever with an unexpected (and unintentionally?) spicy mouth, had the best dialogues and interactions.
And it was just so cute how they each accepted each other exactly the way they were (including all the goofy little eccentricities).
And did I mention that Remi had a spicy mouth?! Holy moly, the way the things he said just came out of left field made them hit so much harder!
And if you also read Emmy Sanders’ “Catch me again”, then you will have recognized the two MMCs, Lian and Foster, from her book, since they also feature quite a bit in this story.

Bailey & Remi are the proof you are never too much or not enough once you found the person meant to be yours.

Remi was this sunny golden retriever with all the quirks you will expect from a goalie.
Bailey was this introvert, quiet tattooed guy who was made for Rémi. The way he instantly matched Remi’s freak was top notch!

Yes perfect for each others
