Santorno #3

The Harder They Fall

Rate this book
WARNING: This book is part of a series. This book contains homosexual relations, crude language and violence. It is preceded by The Medicine and The Mob and An Eye for an Eye.

The Youngblood children have faced many crises in their young lives, including battling the danger and intrigue that come with carrying on the once-notorious Damon Santorno's bloodline. But navigating love as teenagers has its own perils, especially when jealousy and revenge decide to crash the big dance. In other words, just another slice of Santorno life.

As the kids stumble their way through high school, it seems everyone has caught the love bug. Damon Youngblood is ready to commit completely and take the next step with Tyler Dion. Damon's childhood friend, Mark Andrews, thinks he's found love -- until he gets sucker-punched when he discovers that his boyfriend has a pretty serious skeleton hanging in that closet he came out of. Enter Paul Greystone. He puts the 'stud' in student, and while Mark's hormones scream 'yes,' his heart cautions 'not again.' Besides, getting through Paul's defenses is like dealing with a raging bull with a suit of armor thrown in for good measure.

Well, they DO say, the bigger they are, the harder they fall.

I have been blessed in this life to not only have parents that support me, but kids that do as well. I grew up in a loving but "Old School" French household. My parents worked for the airlines (TWA) so I was able to see a lot of Europe as a kid. I moved to Seattle Washington at the age of 22 and stayed there for twelve years before moving to Alaska for a little over two. Fairbanks, AK was one hell of an experience and I wouldn't hesitate to go back! I spent a little over a year in South Carolina before moving back to Arizona. I then left for Kansas for five years and now reside in Arizona. I've been connected to the military in one way or another for over half my life and wouldn't change a thing about it. Writing has become my full time job and I've never been so happy doing a job I love and being able to do it in my jammies. I plan on writing until I dry up and die. Hopefully, that won't happen soon!

When the kids all grow up……….

I’ll admit to being a bit of a Sandrine fangirl but this whole series (plural really) that she has built up, the amazing world she has put together how can you fail not to be? Its epic, it’s convoluted, it’s dangerous and it’s completely addictive. If you are new to this author and series I would recommend you go all the way back to the start and begin with the Assassin/Shifter series but at the very least you need to have read the first two books in the Santorno series to keep up with the characters, and there are a lot of characters to keep up with!

The Youngblood kids are still coming off the high of rescuing their fathers. They are all becoming independent young adults, they all have raging hormones that are all over the place, and they are all starting to fall in love. For the life they have led and the notorious family background they have they actually well-adjusted kids starting out with their own lives. The little blips along the road are just part of the fun.

The young adult theme is not something I always drift towards but because this is a progression of a series so it felt right. Damon and Tyler are more in love than ever and are ready for the next phase of their relationship. Damon’s best friend Mark, almost an adopted Youngblood, thinks he has found his everything in Tanner but even the most perfect of relationships can carry secrets that you can’t get past. When Mark walks away it is straight into the arms of Paul Greystone, a cold young man with a past of his own that has left him lonely. Tanner was awful and a huge pain in the ass and certainly has a lot of growing up left to do.

There always has to be the person in the background that is jealous of the happiness around them and that is certainly true here. The boys get put through hell and only just survive but in the end their love and determination to stay with each other conquers all. On a happier note there is a baby, a proposal, a first time and a lot of love. This is a great third book and a great progression in the series.

Because really?

Other than that.. I actually really liked the story aside also from the HUGE skips in time/months...

I really love this author, but these past few books??
WTF???...hopefully the next one is much better... by the end of this one it really seemed like it, so I'll still read it.

Loved it!

Such an incredible joy to read this book by the amazing Sandrine! To see the Santorno-Youngblood kids grow up and fall in love. Stefan and Jordan still as much in love as ever as their family grows. The blending of relationships is seamless with her writing, the characters so rich and full of life. I am intrigued by the ending...and am very much looking forward to the next one!

I really liked this one but the time frames are a bit off. Seriously... if these are the parents to the present-day characters, why do they have cell phones and Skype? I know they're rich and all, I'm pretty sure Skype wasn't in existence 18-20 years ago. I won a laptop off TV when they were still "new" 19 years ago... with dial-up internet. Cell phones started popping up 3-5 years later. This series kind of stands outside of the Assassin / Shifter timeline in many ways.

Another great add to the series. Each book not only adds to the previous couples story but adds a new character/couple to fall in love with. What I like most about this series is people are redeemable. Yes, there are token "villains" who are always going to be hated, but people like Mark (who was bugging me in book 2 and needed to grow up) comes around and I love him now! Can't wait for the next.

I really like a Sandrine Gasq-Dion books and I am trying to read everything she writes, however, I’m sorry to say that this one was not one of my favourites.
Don’t get me wrong, I liked it but felt something was missing……
The cover is beautiful and certainly captures your attention, Jay Aheer is a fabulous cover artist. One of the main reasons why I read Sandrine’s books is how she develops her characters. We see all our favourites reappearing and interconnecting in the new stories, for me, it makes perfect reading. However, as much as I liked David Lyon’s from the Assassin/Shifter Series, I just didn’t like Tanner, sorry but true. I don’t do spoilers and have no wish to spoil the enjoyment of the three readers who haven’t read the book so far (lol), so I hope you will forgive me. I’m hoping he’s going to redeem himself in the next book, we shall see? As always, the characters are well developed, it’s like meeting old friends and I think a serious plus point for the author. But this time? well, I thought that the relationships were happening too fast, especially Mark and Paul’s and therefore lost the believability factor. Personally, I prefer the slow approach but I can understand where the author is coming from on this – so many characters and couples now featuring, it’s hard to keep track and as an author, she wants to keep the continuity going, so I do understand. The Youngblood Clan never disappoints, it’s an amazing family. I’ll let you into a little secret – I had to dust off the family tree chart so I could remember who was who and how they were related – the family just’s bigger and bigger! I’m putting the link below, if you are like me, it may help –

You can find it here https://sites.google.com/site/assassi...

I’m really looking forward to the next book in this wonderful series, hopefully it won’t be too long?

I am really enjoying this series, it took a little bit to get into because of all the characters, but I am really enjoying it. To see the Santorno-Youngblood kids grow up and fall in love. Its great to read about Stefan and Jordan and how much in love they still are, and watching how their family grows. The blending of relationships is seamless with her writing, the characters so rich and full of life.

I like how there is always story plots and threads still to be discovered. There always has to be that person watching in the background who is jealous of the happiness around them and that is certainly true here. The boys get put through hell and only just survive but in the end their love and determination to stay with each other conquers all. On a happier note there is a baby, a proposal, a first time and a lot of love. This is a great third book and a great progression in the series

Another great read!

The Youngblood/Santorno clan is growing. As the siblings each find their true love, they also experience a huge tragedy that could have taken away the lives of some of them.
As this series moves along, I can't help but fall in love with every single one of them. If it wasn't for random sex scenes, it'd be a squeaky clean series. And you know what? That would be just fine because that's how lovable this family is. I will say though, papa, Stefano Santorno is out to find retribution for the harm placed upon his kids, and it might not be in a Brady Bunch fashion!
The writing is light and moves quickly, allowing the reader glimpses into each of the characters' lives individually and as a whole group. Another great job with this one by Sandrine Gasq Dion.

WOW! where do i even begin with this book. First let me say i am a MASSIVE fan of Sandrine Gasq-Dion and have been fortunate enough to read every book she has published most of them more than once, and i say this with pride.

This book is the third in the Santorno series and with each book the story line just gets better & better. The youngblood kids and their partners & friends/partners are just all kinds of amazing & are just way to hot for my kindle! The anticipation, the build up, the excitement, just the whole damn experience and journey she takes you on with her amazing writing skills completely blows me away.

I don't know what's going on with this series... Definitely not as good as the assassin shifter series...
It was so cheesy at times... The ending renewed it for me but god it was so annoying... How is Charlie already a brain surgeon at 20?? Really but Heath is still in college.. The timeframe the author is writing doesn't make any since... She's a genius I get that but was it to hard to write some type of explanation.. To make it believable... Like she was in high school at 12 r something... It is other examples of this stupidness as well.. Of course I'm going to the next book because I love this author and I'm praying it gets better...

WOW

I COMPLETELY love this book! Ms Dion has given was a book that gives so much background to the books we have been loving and reading...The Assassin/Shifter Series! How they all met how they struggled how they love and definitely how some were A holes even as teenagers(Tanner) lol. Along with Damon Mark and Tyler we get to meet Paul Jay and Greg(the Rambo looking guy). I laughed i got angry and I cried. If you don't read THIS book you are missing out. READ IT!!

one of my go to authors, love how SGD can spin a tale and pull me along for the ride. now that being said- bk 3 moves swiftly, there is the teen angst of first love, jealousy from girl who's a wacky B. I honestly did not like this maybe because it centered around teens.... this will not stop me from enjoying SGD future books..this wasn't my bag. it was excellently written had good character development. much sex . but it was young sex...I prefer mature sex. lol.

Family Reunion! Um...Union

This is liking hearing the backstory from friends who are important to you and thinking, yeah, I get why someone does that. It is weird thinking of Devin as Tanner and being struck by some of the differences. This story obviously reads better when you have been following the families--but it is so well-written that it would still be okay without the background. However, for a great story read them all in order.

Jumps from one scene to the next

Every scene is being rushed through to just fill in the pieces from the other series. I don't really feel that Sandrine is putting her heart into the series. The characters were already set up so she is just putting the pieces together. I really love this Author and I know that with more attention to the details and of their main characters that each story can be made with much more life.

YA Feel

Well I am a fan of this series, although this book was more about the kids I did like it but not as much as the first one. I loved the drama filled ending. I could have done without all the I love yous but again that is what coming of age YA say when in the throes of their first real love. I hope there is on more story with Stefan and Jordan that will bookend this series.

What's next?!

I knew there would be some kind of trouble, but I didn't think it would be by someone that is plan stupid. Why is it that so many crazy are out for the Youngbloods and their love ones? My heart nearly broke in a thousand pieces at the end of this book. I don't think I could stand to lose any of the Youngbloods and their partners or friends. God help us all if Stefan has to remind the world of who he really is. Because we all know a Santorno plays for keeps.

I just fell in love with the Youngbloods again and the extended family. This family is going through so much turmoil and love. This family is strong and the people who love them and their family are also strong and true. I can not wait for the next book in this series. Erin

I love this series and I love the way the author follows everyone in the books. We get so much more out of one book than you would expect. We get to read about all the things going on in their lives rather than just one persons point of view. I love the connections and friends they all have with each other as well as the love they share for one another. Great series cannot wait for more.

She's A Sick Child

This is a action packed read with a lot of angst. This is an interesting well done read with a lot of laughter and gut wrenching sadness. The Santorno children and their friends are living and loving and having to deal with the challenges and situations that pop up in their lives. I so love a book that takes me through a range of emotions. Enjoy I did.

I fell in love with Jordan Youngblood and Stefan Santorno from the start in this series. To see how their relationship has grown and now to see their children grown and finding their loves was fun to see. I hope that there are more from this family in future books. Excellent Read!!
