Some secrets are darker than others... I knew that there was more to billionaire Jake Carville than what he showed the world. But I didn’t know that Jake’s past was so dark... and so dangerous.
Lacey Miller is just a curvy girl, a tomboy, a street artist. When she steps into Jake Carville’s life, his obsession with her will lead her into a world like she’s never seen. A world of wealth and power. A world of unquenchable passion and unspeakable cruelty.
Jake Carville, billionaire playboy, has never found a woman he can open up to. Not until Lacey. She’s the only woman he cares about. His gift. His love.
Good story! I love anything that has to do with painting! Great characters, hot, sexy and has more books in the series, what's not to love. So, I will be reading every book.
4.5 for the story 3 for the writing 2 for the research
What I liked was the plot, a young poor graffiti artist meets a rich guy who also paints “street art”.
You don’t call staff servants, it doesn’t fit in this contemporary story. Manhattan is never referred to as NYC, either “the City” or name the borough. Good Sake is almost always served chilled and not hot. What the hell does this mean “ impaling me with the first part of his hard cock”??? Or, “His hands began to massage my front.” Not my belly, my breasts, my nipples but my front, who says that?
The h in this story is ridiculously naive.
The writer needs not only a good copy editor but also an editor to fix the story holes.
It was a story about a woman that was innocent and she learned to love someone else. The billionaire was always angry and feeling guilty cause of what happened to his family. And it took her for to recover his self and about his family. I really did like it.
I rated a five cause it kept me feeling what the author wanted us to feel
Thanks to the author for sending me the full series free of charge. I really do appreciate it.
Before I go into my review I just want to say, objectively, this was a good book. Buy the book, support the author.
My review is a bit odd. How can I give it 4 stars, say it's a good book that you should pick up, but not be in with love it? Well, it all comes down to preference; and I'm a very picky romance reader.
I'm not a fan of romance, never will be. Not a fan of Billionaires either, nor the lavish lifestyle. Absolutely no comments on the fourth. BUT, I am a fan of Aubrey Dark since I first read Mine & His. I respect her writing.
This is not a review of her previous work but I feel it necessary to comment on how I was initially intrigued by her dark spin on romance and how I ended up wanting to read THIS series. Three reasons: Her writing style - clear, concise, far from pretentious, one or two typos. Her imagination - she has a dark mind, almost as much as mine, except mine is devoid of romance and would include much more torture. Her research skills - she writes like she is an expert on the profession of all her male protagonists.
I liked this one, not as much as I liked the one featuring Rein (or was it Rien) but this was a good book. I can see the appeal. As I said, her writing style in her previous works was superb and that style was carried over to this series. There was a plot to keep readers intrigued. Enough romance scenes to satiate the erotic genre fans.
There was a scene featuring a character from one of her earlier books which made me speed-read then left me wanting more. Do you see? More than a year has passed since I read His & Mine and that one character has somehow always found a way to sneakily cross my mind. That's how much I enjoyed that book and in addition to the previously mentioned reasons, I wanted to read this series so that I could somehow recreate and forge a new connection to another character of hers. It didn't happen but not because of any negatives on the part of the author, but it's because I can only stomach certain types of romance. And those romance books need to be a lot dark with just a bearable hint of anticipated romance. I don't mean Fifty Shades of Grey dark or Stonehart dark (Uncovering you series). Those aren't dark in my books, those are merely mild BDSM bullshit. I mean dark dark, the real kind where the professional is in his element, has a scalpel peeling off the face of some bad guy while the girl is in the other room panicking but aroused (you know the book I'm talking about! Damn it!!).
Again, this was a good book. It really is. Go read it if you get a thrill out of the erotic genre. Support the author, buy her books.
I've enjoyed Aubrey's books so far, from her dark series of His, Mine and Yours. I like the fact that she has linked some of the character's from those books to these. For me the book starts well, amusing and raunchy. It falters in the middle for me, pushing the boundaries of plausibility and the female lead is quite immature. The key event in the story could have been handled more logically in my opinion but I enjoyed the ending.
I had read the first part of this series 'His Gift' and was hooked. The story line was easy to follow. I loved the characters together, they complimented each other well. This book follows on well, picks up where the last book ends. Highly recommended
You will enjoy this book I did very good book great story about Stacy Jake ,a great love he thinks his family dead but Lacey. finds them for him read the book there is so much to it you will enjoy it she is a great author .enjoy Margie Moran
I enjoyed this series. When you put the 6 pieces together it makes a very sweet and sexy romance novel. I read them free through KU but they are worth paying for.
I loved every second of this book I can't wait to read the next book in the series I'm going to start right away. I can't wait to read Lacey's friends story.
This book was ok once again the leading lady was childish. The leading man was too controlling. She's only twenty one he's thirty one she had no career or job.
