Explains the philosophy of being Master of the Game in role playing games, discusses the problems and rewards, and tells how to establish and manage RPG conventions and how to create an RPG publication
Nice effort from the grandfather of RPGs, Gary Gygax. His analysis of some of the problems a dungeon master faces and how one might solve them is presented in a clear manner and is insightful. However, Gygax takes himself too seriously at times, which made me laugh but could be tedious for some people.
An interesting document of TTRPG history that also has plenty of good insights into GMing as a practice. My favorite parts are where Gygax suggests petty ways to get a troublesome player to leave the group without telling them they need to leave.
As with its predecessor, a mixture of genuinely good advice, a fair bit of stating the obvious, and some outright useless material. Full review: https://refereeingandreflection.wordp...
This is like a textbook for GMs. I like tabletop games and learning about their history, so I thought I'd check it out, but it's so dense that I found it kind of impenetrable.
