I write emotionally charged, psychologically rich stories about flawed people and their complicated relationships.
My characters are painfully human. They make mistakes, carry secrets, love imperfectly, and wrestle with identity, morality, grief, and the internal wounds that shape their choices.
Three of my books have been Page Turner Awards Finalists, and I was also longlisted in the New2theScene International Writing Competition.
With a degree in Applied Psychology, I bring compassionate insight to my stories, exploring the hidden fears, longings, and misbeliefs that drive people to hurt, heal, leave, and sometimes find their way home.
When I’m not torturing fictional characters in emotionally complex ways, I’m probably listening to Hans Zimmer, sipping a margarita, or being supervised by a cat who thinks he’s my co-writer and a dog who is convinced he should be.
I was absolutely in love with After Dark. After loving Out of Sight as much as I did, I had incredibly high hopes for this sequel, and Serenity somehow made me fall even harder for Rowan and Silas. Of course, my only complaint is that I WANT MORE! I am nowhere near ready to let these two go.
Serenity warned me that I was going to cry, and apparently I thought that meant I was prepared. I was not. I cried SO much. Silas’s journey absolutely wrecked me. His grief, fear, frustration, and struggle to accept how much his life has changed felt incredibly real. Serenity doesn’t just tell you what these characters are feeling, she makes you feel it right alongside them.
I especially loved watching Rowan and Silas figure out this new version of their relationship together. Some of my favorite moments were when Rowan helped Silas without making him feel helpless. Watching her give him opportunities to realize that losing his sight didn’t mean he was incapable, especially with running and on the boat, was so special. Their relationship wasn’t always easy, and I definitely got frustrated with both of them at times, but that only made their growth feel more meaningful.
And Silas choosing to fight was everything. Watching him finally choose the possibility of an after after everything he had been through was one of my favorite parts of this entire story.
I will forever be in love with Rowan and Silas. These two are easily some of my favorite characters I’ve read this year, and I already know their story is going to stay with me for a long time.
I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to be an early reader for Serenity. Being trusted with Rowan and Silas’s story and getting to provide feedback along the way meant so much to me. I already loved these characters going into After Dark, but somehow I came out loving them even more.
Beautifully written, incredibly emotional, and a sequel that gave me everything except enough time with Rowan and Silas.
Now please give me more because I’m not ready to say goodbye to them.
Rowan and Silas have completely stolen my heart. From their witty banter to the extreme life challenges they face, I felt like a participant in their world rather than just a reader. Watching them learn to adapt together, while clinging to their stubborn insecurities and navigating the wax and wane of "too much” and “not enough,” was beautiful and oh so painful.
This book brought me to actual tears and literal emotional outbursts. At one point, my daughter even checked on me to make sure I was okay! Even the supporting characters won badges of honor from me for their fierce loyalty and steadfastness. You absolutely must read both Out of Sight and After Dark to get the full experience. Bring your tissues and block your calendar!
