High in the Huron Mountains …

Jordan is forced to live with her demon father, Aamon, or risk capture by the angels. Miserable, homesick, with emerging powers she can’t begin to comprehend, Jordan doesn’t think her luck can get much worse.
And then Aamon announces she must meet with his nefarious boss.

In Heaven …

Michael has a secret, one that will cost him his position as an archangel if discovered. Jordan’s newfound status could expose everything he’s tried so hard to keep hidden.
She must be silenced.

In Dixon’s Bluff, Wyoming …

Uncle Casen and the twins are desperate to find Jordan and bring her home. With no help from their Guardian or the Celadon Circle, Casen makes a decision that unravels what’s left of their family. Outraged, Quinn sets out alone. With help from a holy relic and a long lost friend, he learns of a chilling prophecy – one that not even the angels and demons can survive.

And it begins and ends with Jordan.

This story just became absolutely amazing. Tangled webs are woven in heaven and on earth. This book shifts points-of-view and each chapter ends with you sitting on the edge of your seat where it takes you on to the next nail-biting situation. It never lets up.

Jordon’s powers are growing and at war inside her heart and mind. She is pushed to test some of them out early in the book and managed to not lose control. She has no idea how strong she really is. She also makes a new friend, Xander, whom she feels drawn to but doesn’t know why. The big boss sends Jordon on a mission, she gets to choose team members and if she completes her mission successfully she will be allowed to go back home to her brothers and Uncle Casen… or so he says.

In heaven Michael is making power plays and Gabriel seeks help from the Virtues. Where Gabriel learns about the prophecy and is told there are certain stands he needs to take, despite Michael.

Quinn discovers a powerful relic on the bookshelf Uncle Casen says he’s never seen before. An old acquaintance shows up with a plan to find Jordon. Outraged when Uncle Casen and Nathan agree to give the plan a shot, Quinn takes off on his own with the relic. As he suspected, things go to hell back at the house. I can’t say much more than the pace was fast, furious and emotional. Surprising twists in each storyline kept the suspense high. It was hard to put the book down and I found myself reading until my eyes wouldn’t focus any longer. The climax… holy crap!

Refracted is an outstanding addition to this series with unique, intelligent story-lines that were easy to read without having to go back and re-read book one. Well done, Ms. Storey. I hope we won’t have to wait too long for book three.

FYI: Refracted is book 2 in The Celadon Circle, I would recommend reading book 1 Blind Sight first. There are several F-bombs, the story honestly needed them. **Originally written for "BigAl’s Books and Pals" book blog. May have received a free review copy.** October 18, 2015

Refracted drew me in from the very beginning and had me biting my nails with the way it is written to evoke such high energy. It is rare that I like a sequel even better than the first, but that was the case with this book. The story is told in a way that kept me constantly on the edge of my seat with strong emotions driving me to “see what is going to happen!” A few emotional additions added a new depth to the characters that made Jordan more real and relatable to me. I also enjoyed the insight into Quinn's head. He added a new spin with his emotions and conflicting actions. The storyline and plot twists in this series is continuously surprising me. I can’t wait to see what this series has to come. I will continue to one-click purchase The Celadon Circle series. I’m thoroughly addicted to this exciting tale and highly recommend it!

I loved the first book in this series, "Blind Sight," and I have been looking forward to reading "Refracted" ever since. This story did not disappoint in the slightest. In the first story, the reader gets to know Jordan and gets to experience her demon hunting adventures with her brothers. In "Refracted" the author, Nicole Storey, takes Jordan's experiences and propels them to a higher level, allowing the reader to get to know the characters even more. The concept behind the story dives much deeper than the first, and I truly appreciated the use of rich, descriptive narration and the twists and turns of the story which go beyond the norm and were certainly unexpected. This is now one of my favorite series, and I absolutely can not wait until the next book comes out. I would recommend this story for anyone age 13 and over - a great read for teenagers and a fun read for adults as well!

Although I loved the first book (and in some ways prefer it storyline wise) this book was so much better for several reasons.

We got to know the characters, and the worlds of the angels and demons, better. The writing style has improved immensely; although it was good in the first book it feels more polished in this one.

I love how this story, although about angels and demons, isn't just a cut and dry 'the angels are very very good and the demons are very very bad,' there are marvellously complex areas of moral grey.

I was completely immersed in this story and if the second book has improved this much I can't wait to see what book three brings.

All in all this is shaping up to be a great trilogy.

This is not the kind of book to start reading when you can only read in snatches here and there. I didn't want to put it down! I got so involved with the story, I carried my kindle with me so I could read a few pages every chance I got. It's been a while since I read the first book in the series and it took me a few pages to remember who was who, but after my memory was refreshed, I became totally engrossed in the story.

Refracted is fast-paced and well written and I believe everyone will enjoy it. I'm not really a fan of the supernatural/angels/demons type of TV shows or movies, but this book had me hooked.

In Refracted by Nicole Storey, we learn that Jordan, the protagonist in the first book of the Celadon Circle series, is not only half-human and half-demon; she is also part angel. Like in the first book, the plot is suspenseful, the characters and themes are complex, and the storytelling is superb—a truly entertaining read.

In the upcoming battle between good and evil, which side will Jordan be on? I can’t wait to see what happens in the third instalment.

I had no doubt I'd like Refracted as I really enjoyed the first book in her series, Blindsight so much. It was beyond my expectations and I read it in one sitting. Her characters just came to life on the pages and there was not a dull moment. Great book.

Awesome!

Absolutely loved this book and am eagerly awaiting the next. This one was every bit as good as the first if not better. Reminds me of Supernatural. Great characters, exciting plot, and fast-paced action are trademarks of this series.

Fascinating

Have is the Angel charged with protecting Jordan's family. Michael commands the warrior angels and has somehow been compromised. Jordan has gone to live with her demon father, with a bunch of other children sites by him. Maddie is still a child, barely thirteen. Gina is a total bitch, and used her abilities to torture others. The climate changes drastically when Jordan is sent on a job by her father's boss.

There is too much in this book to decipher everything on print. I cannot tell you all the ins and outs, the intricacies of the story. I found it interesting enough to continue reading. Now I have to wait for the next book.

Refracted was a book that had been on my radar ever since reading Blind Sight. I bought the book on release day and read it inside of a week.

The book lived up to my hopes, but it was departure from the first book. The first book featured a “monster of the week” type of treatment. Jordan and her family had to fight off an evil monster. There was plenty of character building and while the main plot was tied up, a bigger story emerged that had Jordan whisked away by a demon.

The second book begins with Jordan living with her new family and adjusting to her surroundings. She is also learning about herself and just what her new powers entail. She doesn’t understand them, and no one else seems to understand them either.

Refracted does a nice job of establishing relationships and developing the characters further. This story follows Jordan’s character arc and there is no “monster of the week” this time the family has to chase. Refracted jumps the reader into the fray with no room to gasp for air.

It was a good book and lends well to the genre. It was interesting seeing a world full of angels and demons where they don’t stick to their stereotypes. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

The continuation is definitely better than the first book. The world setting finally has a feeling that's not carbon copy of Supernatural. The characters grow and we quickly see that species has little in the way of defining a characters behavior: Some of the angels show tyrannical and sadistic qualities and some of the demons exhibit nurturing and selflessness.

My only real gripe is how Jordan is granted nearly supreme power "second only to God." I LOATHE when characters are extreme power levels as it enables the author to take the "Superman" approach to problem solving: simply display a new power with no reason to explain it. It's lazy.

Usually, I don’t expect the second book in a series to be as good as the first (excluding Harry Potter, of course), but this author has pleasantly surprised me. Bravo to her.

I have read all of this author's books and have found that her writing has matured…it has gone from a colorful caterpillar to a very elegant butterfly.

She is definitely an author to keep your eye on and devour everything she writes.
