"Lo! Now Shall Appear...the Mimic!"
Bobby and his girlfriend Zelda attempt to set Hank up on a date with Vera, a friend of Zelda's, but another suitor appears in the form of Calvin Rankin. Jealous of the fact that Hank is on a date with her, Rankin attempts to fight Hank who shows restraint since he doesn't want to give away his mutant abilities. But Rankin soon proves to be a formidable foe, capable of exactly mimicking Hank's abilities. Bobby joins in the scuffle, but Rankin takes both out with ease. Realizing these two men must be X-Men, he plots his way into taking out the entire team. Now referring to himself as the Mimic, he handily takes on most of the roster until Xavier devises a way to sap him of his powers.
For a villain who has fairly interesting powers, this issue does not really maximize it in any kind of creative fashion. Even his defeat is a bit anti-climactic and it doesn't help that this stretch of X-Men comics are with Stan Lee at his most verbose.

A decent issue, with a great resolution; though the memory erasing Professor X keeps using is a tiresome way to keep the X-Men being uncovered and then concealed again. I feel there could have been a bit more action involved, but the story is interesting and the villain is sympathetic.

It’d be nice to let some of these characters breathe a bit! Like can we get to know the ladies more! No way not Stan the man!
Also just give me a real vacation episode damnit!
Not even close to the caliber of Daddy Day Care (2003)

The Mimic is a villain I'm discovering for the first time in this classic comic tale. Loved it. Not sure what comes next as I'm reading The X-Men from the very beginning.

Don't know if it is because i haven't read a x-men in a long time, but this one seem less repetitive than the others, more adult. It also contain a lot of action and a really cool vilant, the Mimic, wich I really like! A really good one that every fan must read and a comic book that can also be a good test to see if you'll like the x-men serie or not!
