X-Men #32, "Beware the Juggernaut, My Son!"

Opening with a celebration of Bobby Drake's 18th birthday, the X-Men spend a cozy day at Coffee a Go-Go. Scott and Jean have their regular "will they, or won't they?", Warren arrives with his new girl, Candy Southern, and the team enjoy some beat poetry. The X-Men end up clashing with the Satan's Saints biker gang at Bobby's party, but they do so in a secretive fashion so as to not give away their mutant status in public.

The Professor on the other hand is spending time running experiments at the Mansion, only to reveal that he's been holding the Juggernaut prisoner. Xavier hopes he can reverse the effects of the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak to return Cain Marko to his regular self. The Juggernaut escapes when he manages to absorb Xavier's mental powers and break free of his restraints. Deciding to trap the X-Men when they return home, Juggernaut awaits in secrecy in the Mansion. The team is incapacitated by Juggernaut, but before he can strike a killing blow on Jean, he is contacted telepathically by the Factor Three to join them. Deciding to do so, he leaves believing he has crushed the entirety of the X-Men. The team manages to escape with a near dead Xavier, and decide to pursue Juggernaut who now makes his way to Europe.

Zelda bekerja di cafe A-go-go tempat nongkrong para anggota X-Men, sedangkan Vera bekerja sebagai seorang pustakawati.

Fun shenanigans at the cafe with Bobby’s 18th birthday (how old is Zelda though, worrying). Awful biker gang villains to pad out the issue. The secret wooden door, teased across several issues, is finally opened to reveal Xavier has his brother chained up in his dungeon. Ethics aside, this was obviously going to be the reveal soon as we saw that door because Cain is the only big character piece Xavier has so far. The end of this issue is really bad though. Juggernaut just assumes Xavier is dead and literally claims boredom to spare the X-Men and then, off panel, steals a plane (can he fly one? Why wasn’t it shot down?) and flies to Europe to join the mysterious Factor Three group that has been lurking throughout the previous few issues. It’s extremely lazy.

The X-Men's private lives continue to unfold, similar to what is done in Spider-Man, but lest interesting, although is an advance over previous issues of the X-Men, adding depth and credibility to the series.

The return of Juggernaut is welcome but not entirely spectacular. The story leaves open the mystery of the participation of Factor Three.

I don't like Werner Roth's drawing at all, it's because of the detail on the faces and in the panels in general.
