Contains #10-12 books in the series: “A Witness in Disguise;” “The Ties That Bind;” “A Flight of Fantasy.” Check individual titles for a more complete review.
Book 10: A Witness in Disguise (19 chapters+Conclusion) Sept. 19, 2018 Four stars A girl goes missing and her ex-boyfriend hires Sarah and Carter to look into it. Is she dead or kidnapped? Twists and turns; well written tightly woven who-dun-it.
Book 11: The Ties That Bind (23 chapters) Sept. 20, 2018 Three+ stars Sarah and Carter travel to Connecticut, where a woman is convinced someone hired to have her daughter murdered. Another well written plot. A page turner to the end. Violence warning
Book 12: A Flight of Fantasy (15 chapters) Sept. 20-21, 2018 Three+ stars Were some important documents stole off of a quiet, straight-laced engineer, or is there more going on? Grittiest story so far.
This three book set took a turn to the gritty side. I’m not sure if this is previews on coming stories, and I’m not sure how much I like it. The stories are still written compactly with just the right amount of pages, but they aren’t as light and breezy anymore (not that murder is light and breezy, mind you.) It is possible they always had this element to them, but I overlooked it because I was so happy to find fast-read mystery books.
A WITNESS IN DISGUISE Four months he still can’t get over the fact his girlfriend is missing. They were taking a break and she supposedly was dating a lawyer. When they interview the lawyer, his story is of her coming for a restraining against a boyfriend, she would have to get from police. As they run the list of suspects, they find another missing person maybe involved. A note gives them another way of looking at this, giving us a very clever way, of trying to get evidence. Good plot, that keeps you to a surprised ending. TIES THAT. BIND Mother’s grief of losing her daughter, wanting answers.Twisted family who run an Inn, the mother runs a tight ship over everything, and the father is a known chef. With threats if children leave no inheritance. The deceased came into this fold, and shortly after was murdered. They caught who did it, was they someone as the mother suspects that hired a killing. Another plot, that will surprise most readers. None of them were happy, or what they seemed to be. A FLIGHT OF FANTASY A guy at work wanted him to go to this event, where exotic drinks were served. He wasn’t much of a drinker, things seemed different, not the normal effect after drinking. The next thing he knew a woman had been taken home, she tried to get on his computer. Who is this woman, and she came later to the event, and no one recalls who she was. If his company found out, if she did get any of his work, he would be fired. Find this woman and what her motive was. As Sarah gets into it will be her toughest case with dealing with pedophiles. Three different cases.
I fully enjoyed the characters and the situations the author put them in. Once I picked up this 3 book set, I was totally unable to put it down. It has humor and intrigue packed in these pages and a little bit of sexual tension. It's clean reading with a few twists here and there. I would recommend you read it if mystery and suspense are what draws you to a good book.
What a great set of stories. This volume of books held my attention throughout. Once I started reading I knew I had to finish. I love where the story of Sarah and Carter is going. I look forward to reading about their cases and journeys. Sarah has grown as a woman so much from the first book. She's become quite good at being a PI. Carter is a fantastic teacher. A great add to your tbr list.
As a person with dyslexia reading is a challenge.. so I listen. Often distractions take me away from the plot and it is difficult to stay in tune with the characters. Not so with this series. Really enjoyable and interesting.
With a Private Detective license Sarah has moved into a new world, with a “partner” that totally changes the life she is living. It’s fun to follow a life transformation, both professional and personal, with two people who both respect and love each other.
Once again Sarah Woods is the best woman for the job.
These three books are done and I just started them yesterday. Only Jennifer Jennings could pull everything together and have it come out with a happy ending for Sarah.
I loved these books. Very believable and you grow attached to the characters. The plots were great and very fast paced. This was the 1st set I read so I need to circle back around to read the 1st ones. I can't wait!
Three enjoyable mysteries featuring two private investigators. I felt they must have been independently wealthy; as there was some time between jobs; and yet they could spend five nights at an expensive hotel and eat in restaurants.
The author did another great job with these stories. If you like a good thriller that has a mixture of mystery, drama and creative this is the author who has it all🤔🤔🤔
I was given this set in return for an honest review. I didn't know that Ties That Bind would be in this set until I got it. I read that book and liked it when I read it. That was the reason I started reading this authors books to begin with. So I read all three to be fair. I really like all the Sarah Woods mysteries. She and her partner could be your neighbors. They dress in jeans and are just really believable characters. And while all these books are about these 2 PI's the stories are always different. You never get the feelings you've read it before
The set had 3 books to it, I really enjoyed the first 2 but not the 3rd. I was very surprised at the first ending, the second one I had an idea but not about all of it, the third one though involved child pornography, which I didn't like, but I like the ending though.
Ms. Jennings has me hooked on this series and I can't get enough. The action flows so well, the story stays interesting and there's just enough romance to keep one satisfied. I loved every word!
I really enjoy the Sarah Woods books. They have suspense
Humor romance and great plots. I like the characters in the books and she is able to me them real. I will read her next series for sure and I Will recommend them to friends.
Sometimes just a little too quick to the solution to the case, maybe a little more mystery before the case is solved, but little bad language and that's refreshing.
Got the two stories for free and I have to say I really enjoyed both books Easy to folk, with a that in the tail. I'd certainly red the author again and look forward to doing so
I went through the 1st four volumes in a week and plan to keep reading whatever Jennifer Jennings offers. She writes an easy read with good taste. I am indeed impressed.
Nothing I enjoy more than a good mystery novel unless it's a three in one . Three separate mysteries but the same two PI's and the on going personal relationship between them. Very entertaining.
Decided to try out something different in my reading material and am really glad I came across this set. It is not to dark although deals with the darker side of humanity. Has endearing and easy the like characters. Makes for an enjoyable read.
Enjoyed this. Enjoyed this. 3 Different stories, all good. Nice style and well written. Liked the romance element too.. Nice style and well written. Liked the romance element too.
