Word description... unimpressed!!

20 & 33-Year-Old?

width="250" height="300" alt="description"/>

The dialogue is juvenile, and when I say juvenile, I mean like Donna and David from 90210 kind of air head, adolescent dialogue.

UnBelievable & Melodramatics @ Every Turn

[image error]

Everyone, and Ava, the female MC, makes a point to emphasize repeatedly 'everyone' at every damn turn, gawked at and ogled her because Brian was walking behind her. He's dressed in plain clothes and is simply walking behind her. No fing person on earth would jump to the conclusion he was following her, much less that he's her bodyguard like the two chicks in the bookstore did. This is a college campus... He could've been ushering her with a bullwhip and only a few stragglers would take note.

Ava has been abused and describes a situation where she didn't leave her/his apartment for over a month. Yet, we are introduced to two friends that know nothing about this abuse.

Did they not notice she was MIA for a month? Did she not fail her classes that semester with a month of absences?

Swiss Cheese Plot a Holes

This book starts with daddy dearest informing her that he is sending a bodyguard to protect her against a boyfriend that isn't taking the breakup well.

Okay, I'm following that until she states near the end of the book that she hasn't seen nor heard from this abusive, obsessed boyfriend in a year.

width="250" height="300" alt="description"/>

So, why the fuck is dad sending a bodyguard a year after a breakup, that he doesn't even know is abusive mind you. Why does ex boyfriend happen to reappear the same day she gets said bodyguard? Why isn't her bodyguard SEAL questioning this? Why isn't she questioning it? Maybe this is part of some plot to unfold in future installments, but any dumbass knows that an obsessed, abusive bf isn't going to just suddenly start harassing your ass the same day you get a bodyguard and after a year MIA and that it would be extraordinarily weird for dad to up and decide a year post incident that he'd send her over a bodyguard.

Romance *eyeroll*

Good Gawd... This chick is pissed about the bodyguard and has been nothing but childish and rude toward him 95% of the book.

He is all "mam" this and that and is so much all business that his every fing scene is accompanied by numerous eye scans of the perimeter.

Then, bam, she's screwing him and talking about how safe he makes her feel. Wtf?

width="250" height="300" alt="description"/>

It was a hard left off a cliff with no warning, buildup, hesitation, nor reasoning.

Bottom Line

width="250" height="300" alt="description"/>

Trite story that's badly written with unlikable characters and more plot holes and unbelievable elements than it has pages.

This series is way to short. One book feels more like a chapter to me and overall just not what I was thinking it would be. I’m all for a flawed character and that raw moment where the leading characters are ripping their clothes off but when it happens as quickly and the way in which it happens in this series you’re kinda left wondering...what the hell? I hate you but I’m going to screw your brains out…oh wait books over.
No thanks.

Juvenile

Although the main female character was a college student, her dialogue and emotions seemed more appropriate for an 8th grader. The characters and their connections to each other were not well developed. Very disappointed.

Not for me.

I couldn't stand Ava. She was rude, disrespectful and whiny! The way she spoke to people was awful. And I felt no chemistry or pull between her and Brian.

This book is seriously a steaming pile of crap. The entire series felt like it was written by someone who’s watched way too much porn and just lives their life by that standard now.

The main character, Ava, is in college but acts like she’s in eighth grade. Her dialogue is just plain fucking gross, as she says some absolutely awful things and her main love interest, Brian, just takes it.

It was just shit that she said like, “Ick! Isn’t that drink cold by now?” That seemed completely juvenile and unnecessary.

Here follows an incomplete list of awful dialogue:

“You’re so mean!” I cried.

““What? Are you saying I have a problem?” I felt defensive and resented his insinuation. “I don’t, you know. I don’t have a problem.” “Uh huh,” he nodded without saying anything. “I don’t!” I protested. “I party on the weekends and I attend class and get good grades! I’m not a screw-up who can’t control herself.”” This was AFTER he told her he was an alcoholic.

“”But aren’t you guys the ones who do all the brave heroic rescues?” I asked. “Aren’t you the ones that whenever someone is in trouble the president calls and asks to solve the problem?” “Oh yeah, definitely,” he said as he dramatically rolled his eyes. “We’re on the president’s speed dial, best buds and all.””

“You just called me a little girl,” I said with more than a bit of resentment in my voice.

I can’t take anymore of this stupid shit. If I could give this book zero stars, I would.

Ava is a spoiled little rich girl. Shes away at college and meets a boy. He turns into a controlling psychopath. She tries to leave him and he becomes violent.

Ava's father is a wealthy man. He wants to protect his daughter, so he hires an ex navy man to be her bodyguard. Ava takes offense to that. Her father has really never been in her life....shipping her off to boarding schools and standing her up all the time. He throws money at her to try to make up for his lack of being a father. Ava wants to take care of herself. He father wont listen to reason.

In walks hot, sexy, Brian. Not your typical bodyguard. He watches every move Ava makes, but is he doing it to protect her, or is it something more??? We all know the answer to that question. Shes hot....hes hot....sparks are gonna fly.

Just your typical whiney spoiled rich kid who jumps into bed with her (otherwise unwanted) ex-Navy SEAL bodyguard.

Everything in this piece of short fiction screams amateur. The dialog is reminiscent of the crap you get in a bad porn movie. There is absolutely no lead up to them sleeping together (again, typical of any porn, let alone bad porn). Ava was so unlikable throughout that I found myself not giving a damn about what she had been through (not to mention is so cliché that I was practically laughing). And the 'foreshadowing' from her class... ridiculously amateurish writing.

Will I finish the series? Probably, because I'm a glutton for punishment. Should I finish the series? Hell no (but I don't usually listen to closely to myself when I comes to reading...).

Independent, sweet, college student Ava doesn't want daddy's interference. However, money, power and influence forces Ava to accept the inevitable. She's been assigned a bodyguard. Brian is an ex SEAL and hot as sin to look at, but will he do his job? Will Brian be able to protect Ava from a past boyfriend? Claire Adams did not disappoint. Protector Book 1 was detailed, exciting and steamy. Thankfully, there was no real cliffhanger to leave me with stress but OMG...I can't wait for book 2.

Protector

You have had a very bad relationship with a guy, now you have a body guard a college whom/ really annoying? Or really do you need it? Ava was in an abusive relationship, which the details were kept hidden, Brian her body guard, ex navy seal, has his job cut out for him, Ava is so stubborn, spoiled, not wanting him there. Then the ex who wants her back doesn't care who gets in his way. Then add an attraction for the body guard?.. Cannot wait to start bk.2
