A beautiful, poignant short story about two people who meet in a crowd.
Her whole life, Chrissie has been able to hear people’s thoughts. They come through the walls, follow her to work, surround her in the street – and yet, she is alone.

I decided to read A Distant Feeling by Les Wood because the description made it sound interesting. This was a very short read, about 6 minutes long. But is was about assisted suicide.
"What ifs" are almost always fascinating, but even more fascinating is being reminded that people react differently to them; here we have "what if we could hear the thoughts of every single person around us".
Meh. I got this book for free on Amazon. It was a very short read taking only 6ish minutes but be warned it is about assisted suicide. Wouldn't really recommend it as a read. I didn't know that going into it.

Her ability to perceive and in one case respond to another person's thoughts is handled with diplomacy and discretion; too much, perhaps, since talents of that kind would be attended by more mutual embarrassment than we meet in the text. I think the story is too curtailed to delve into the issues of parapsychology, and its climax (find that out for yourselves) slightly misaligned with the main concerns. But the curse of knowing more about your fellow humans than you can bear is thoughtfully turned over, and wanting more from a writer isn't a serious complaint.
