Bree has just decided to give up trying to be a Shifter groupie when a lion Shifter slams into her truck and tells her to drive. Seamus is on the run from hunters, other Shifters, and who knows who else. All Bree knows is that he’s compelling, needs her help, and most intriguing of all, wears no Collar …

Seamus McGuire fears he’s gone crazy—feral—and become a killer. His only hope of getting away from the hunters and police on his tail is Bree, a human woman who not only knows a lot about Shifters but has great compassion for them.

Things are more complicated than they seem, however. Seamus is on a mission, to protect those in his care after the destruction of Kendrick’s compound of un-Collared Shifters. Seamus must keep it together and keep his charges hidden, but at the same time, he’s pulled to Bree as he’s never been pulled to a woman before. He needs to prove he’s innocent and not crazy before it’s too late for himself, Bree, and those he’s vowed to protect.

Lion Eyes debuts in the boxed set Dark and Damaged, in June 2015, then released on its own in print, e-book, and audio in July 2015.

Well, I never thought I would like a book where the main character is a shifter groupie!
They were a bit pathetic in the previous books. I had some sympathy for them, but surely they did not gain my respect.
The shifter's groupies in order to attract shifters, they are wearing fake cat or wolf's ears and a fake tail. They also paint their faces with fake whiskers, their nose black and they emphasise their stare using black pencil on their eyes. They finally wear cheap slutty clothes and visit shifter's bars almost every night.
Their main purpose is to attract shifters, although of course some prefer felines, some lupins and their makeup is according to their preferences. Does the whole thing sound ridiculous, or not? Because I believe it is :)
Anyway, Bree in this specific book is a cute groupie and she is actually also funny and fierce. When Bree smacks hard Dylan across his nose while he is still in his lion form, I wanted to clap my hands. Priceless!
She just wants to protect Seamus a collarless shifter and apparently her future mate who is trying to run and hide from the shifters from Austin shifter town. He does not want them to force a collar on his neck.
Hmm, there were many moments, I wanted to shout to him "Don't run man! Dylan, Tiger and Austin shifters are good people. I know them. They will look after you!" LOL
Well, you have to try this series (if you haven't read any of these books yet).

Lion Eyes first published as part of an 8-stories anthology Dark and Damaged before it is finally released separately. Because of that, I ended up reading the 'next' novella first, Bad Wolf.

Now, I don't know whether it is because of that fact or it is because I read this one directly after the much superior Kate Daniels #8, but this story came short even compared to other novellas in this series. I felt like I missed the element of surprise because I already knew that Seamus became a part of the Austin Shiftertown, I knew what Seamus was capable of, even the identity of the 'ghost' haunting Bree's attic.

As for the characters, I didn't find both Seamus nor Bree as inspiring. I struggled to form an attachment to either of them (usually, I liked at least one half of the couple). I did like Bree's mother though. I thought Nadine was a pistol -- definitely held her own even when she had to face Dylan (and that ex-Alpha was menacing!). I bumped the rating for her because she was the fun part of this novella.

And as always, I am not in love with the 'insta-love' part of this novella. The last couple of novellas didn't have that so getting back to fall-in-love with a shifter plot after two days just bummed me up. Even if Bree and Seamus didn't immediately consummate their physical attraction.

It might be a decent addition to the series, but definitely not a favorite of mine.

3.5 Stars. Nice read, more about the uncollared shifters rooted out of their compound hiding place. Wish I could have read this before Broderick's book, though. Next full length book up is 'White Tiger', Kendrick's story.

H is one of Kendrick's, afraid he's going feral after running from a murder. The practical h and her mother are kind and save him. When Dylan tries to rescue him, he has to take them all. Great to see Tiger's magic and Dylan's power and compassion.

I'm reading the books in this series all out of order and I'm kinda, sorta thinking I should at least dive in and commit to reading the novellas in order at this point. I mean, WHY NOT, right? The novellas don't work as standalones and the out of order thing doesn't take away from the story, but I think I'd like getting to know these shifters in their own story instead of just picking up pieces of what came before. Because I like these books and I want to know these dudes and the ladies who have fallen for them.

But that's a discussion for another time. Right now we have Bree and Seamus. They have sparks. They also have danger around them because of Seamus's lack of a collar. And then the other shifters show up and things get even hairier. *snickers at self*

(C'mon! They're shifters. You had to know I was going to make SOME mention of their hairy/furry sides.)

*ahem* Right. So. Seamus and Bree. Bree likes shifters. Seamus likes Bree. Boom! Okay. There might be a little bout or two of fisticuffs and a run-in with a feral, but still. BOOM!

*makes a note to go back and read the novellas in the proper order*

Very meh... the romance was not romantic enough for me. I understand the limitations of novella sized stories but... not a well balanced story to me, I'd say.

A chance meeting, but it leads to so much more! The instant connection between Bree and Seamus was evident, to us, to them, to everyone around them. Through in all the action, the ghost (?), and shifters trying to do good, and it was a fast paced, on point, wild ride, that shows us, you can’t keep a good shifter down, but you can make them see reason!

This is a story of one of the uncollared shifters Seamus and a shifter groupie Bree. Seamus thought he's going feral and whilst being hunted by shifter hunters, jumped into Bree's truck when she was leaving a shifter bar. We get to hear more about shifters who didn't get rounded up and collared.

There's also a change of narrator from Cris Dukehart (female) to David Brenin. The most noticeable difference to me is the voices of the cubs, Cris's were more cute, I think. But overall, quite ok to listen to.

NOTE: Lion Eyes debuted in the boxed set DARK AND DAMAGED (June 12, 2015) and was released on its’ own July 7, 2015.

REVIEW: LION EYES is the latest novella in Jennifer Ashley’s adult SHIFTERS UNBOUND paranormal romance series. This is lion shifter Seamus McGuire, and shifter groupie Bree Fayette’s storyline. All of Jennifer’s Shifter Unbound storylines can be read as stand alones but for cohesion and backstory, I highly recommend reading the series in order as many characters and premises cross over between novels. Jennifer always gives the reader a hint as to what is to come including an introduction to new characters and potential new storylines.

BACKGROUND: Jennifer Ashley’s shifters are persecuted and discriminated against by the humans but the humans have help in their attempts to bring the shifters under control using magic-infused collars and segregated towns. The Shifter history reveals that the Fae created the Shifters but in doing so left a little bit of magic behind.

Told from dual third person perspectives LION EYES follows the hunt for a killer. When two humans are found ripped apart, a feral shifter is suspected of the killing. Enter Seamus McGuire, an uncollared and rogue lion shifter who doesn’t recall the events leading up to the murder; but a bloodied and wounded Seamus soon takes refuge with Shifter groupie Bree Fayette and the mating frenzy begins to take hold. With Seamus the number one suspect, the trackers from the Austin Shiftertown go on the hunt for the shifter they believe is responsible for the attack.

The relationship and mating between Bree and Seamus is quick to develop but, in defense, the Shifter male knows when he has met his mate and, in this, Seamus tries to hold himself back knowing that to mate with Bree would put her in danger as Seamus is potentially a wanted man. The $ex scenes are limited, intimate and seductive.

Many of the previous storyline characters play secondary and supporting roles throughout the novella for a familiar and cohesive blend between storyline installments-the inclusion allows for another glimpse into the lives of the couples, the children and the shifters we have come to love.

The world building continues to focus on the Shiftertowns, the persecution of shifters, and their history: from collaring, Fae magic, and The Guardians who keep peace within the species.

Jennifer Ashley writes a fascinating, entertaining and engaging paranormal series with a blend of several different shifter species who, in order to get along, must exist side by side and together, along with the humans who are determined to keep them under control.

** Read as part of the Dark and Damaged: Eight Tortured Heroes of Paranormal Romance **

~ 5 Lion Eyes Stars ~

Lion Eyes is part of the Dark and Damaged: Eight Tortured Heroes of Paranormal Romance Box Set and is set in Jennifer Ashley’s Shifters Unbound series. I love that her novellas can be read out of order (standalone) and give you a great taste of her writing and Shifters Unbound series.

This is a quick read. The relationship moves fast, but when a shifter finds his/her mate, that is how it goes. All the characters are great and entertaining. I like the human shifter hook ups the best in this series. I also enjoyed returning to the Austin shifters and seeing what is happening in their world.

I loved Lion Eyes and if you enjoy reading about shifters, then you should pick up Jennifer Ashley. I highly recommend her Shifters Unbound series. It’s one, especially the novellas, that I read over and over again.

This one was interesting. We learned more about the uncollared/feral shifters. They aren't as bad as it seemed. Seamus seemed off, turns off that there was a good reason for it. I loved how Seamus protected a precious package, how it showed the soft side of him. I really loved how Bree stood up to and for Seamus from the start. Bree and her mother have the personality to fit in with the shifters without being lost in their personalities.

Sexy shifters! I love shifter stories but this one was just okay for me. It was a little hard for me to connect with the characters since the story was pretty short. I enjoy more of a build up to romance rather than instant love that was presented here. But the story had a great fast pace, action and a bit of mystery making it intriguing and fun to read.

Seamus is an uncollared shifter from Kendrick's secret compound. He is doing his duty of protecting his assigned shifter after the destruction of the compound, until he finds himself in the middle of a crime he doesn't remember committing. This makes him think that he may be going feral. He is running for his life when he finds himself in Bree's truck getting her to help him escape whoever is chasing him.

Lion Eyes has Bree and Seamus working to try and prove he is not going feral while keeping his charge safe. I loved Seamus's character. He just hit me in the heart and I loved him. I am not the biggest fan of the whole Shifter groupie thing, so I wasn't the biggest fan of Bree. She improves my opinion of her some as she helps Seamus solve his problem. We do get to see some of our favorites from the Austin Shiftertown as they try to head off what could be a bad case for them if it is proven Seamus is guilty.

This was a fun novella. So much happens that it almost feels like a full-length book, and I am left feeling satisfied and content with all that happens and the information that was outlined.

I have to admit, I do not know if it was just Seamus as a character or the way he was narrated by David Brenin that has me so in love with him. He did an amazing job with his accent and character. I wasn't pleased that I had a narrator switch, and it took me a bit to get into his voice, but I really enjoyed the way he made the characters really "pop".

Another couple finds their happy ending in the Shifters Unbound world.

This story is about Seamus, a lion Shifter without a collar, who is being hunted by anti-shifter extremists and Bree, the shifter groupie who comes to his aid.

Bree has recently moved to the area and was about to go home after an unsuccessful attempt to make friends in one of the town's shifter bars, when Seamus jumped into her truck. The two flee together and become unlikely allies against both the hunters chasing them and the shifters that show up at her house looking for him.

All's well that ends well, and the two end up .

The series continues with another short story, Bad Wolf.

Seamus and Bree. Bree is a shifter groupy who has moved to a new state and hence new shifter bars. I find the whole shifter groupy thing kinda off-putting and wasn't really looking forward to a heroine like that. But although the author doesn't convince me that being a shifter groupy is a 'worthwhile' pursuit, I can understand the fascination. Anyways, it doesn't detract from the story.
Bree essentially gets kicked out of one of the more seedy shifter bars by the local groupies who don't take kindly to those infringing on their turf (kinda sounded too much like road side hookers really), when she meets Seamus running from crazy gun toting shifter hunters. A match made in heaven right?!?
Seamus is worried that he is going feral. One of Kendrick's un-collared clan, he knows the danger of being un-collared and living on the edge. But cut adrift since Kendrick has been forced to leave town, he has no back up to help. Contrary to her common sense, Bree offers her help. It's a short story but packed with layers of intrigue and many different factions of interest, and mysteries to come. What stalks them all though, is scarier than anything they could have imagined!
The ending/windup was a bit of shark jump but doesn't detract from the a satisfying HEA.

The world has changed. Bree is a follower of the shifters and their story. She was headed home from the bar, when Seamus jumped in her truck and said GO! Seamus was running from some hunters, and she helped him escape. They were attracted to each other almost immediately. Bree is a feisty, strong giving person. Her Mom, Nadine, is one tough cookie, and has her shotgun ready when trouble follows them to her house. There is a lot going on and we don't know who the good guys are right away. Seamus was afraid he was turning "feral", but that feeling all goes away when he's near Bree. She is his mate !! The characters are deep feeling, and thought filled. The plot is steady and interesting, with twists and turns. Their attraction and anticipation are super and the sex is hot. This is a series called Shifters Unbound, but it could be a stand alone. It is in an anthology "Dark and Damaged". Highly recommend. ENJOY !!!

This is a novella featuring some of the uncollared shifters from the previous book. I didn't like the insta-lust between the hero and heroine, but it wasn't a bad story. It has Ashley's trademark sensuality and humor, which I loved. Horrible cover though. You'd think a major publishing house could have done better.

So I actually already read White Tiger , so I knew Seamus ended up with Bree, but it was interesting seeing them get together.

Overall, Bree was entertaining. I liked that she didn't go to pieces when Seamus showed up and when things became clear to her, she tried to help as best she could. I laughed when she smacked Dylan. I did wish she'd taken two seconds to listen to what Dylan and the others were saying...she kept saying she was but the second they'd say anything she'd jump to "I'm not letting you kill him" and that didn't really help with Seamus' issues either.

Seamus was decent. On the one hand, I could get that they didn't want to be Collared but when the Morrisey's and co., showed up wanting to help, he jumped right to "I'll just run away and no one will follow me!" Similar to Bree's decision to listen that really didn't do anything. I did like how protective he was of Katie and Francesca. And seeing the whole thing about his being an empath was intriguing and I wonder what else we'll start to see crop up.

I think maybe I’ve fallen out of love with this series, which I thought was so exciting and fresh when I first started reading it when it came out years ago. I feel like I have read several books in this series of late that feature earlier book “heroes“ where I feel they are harassing and bullying the newer MC characters into following their way or else, and now I find I’m starting to dislike characters from earlier books that I remember really enjoying. It’s bizarre how Dylan and Tiger are continually treated like Gods in this series, and I‘ve honestly never cared for either character that much, even when I read their stories, so I guess I just don’t get it. I find it boring and repetitive, because I just know now in every book in the series no matter the circumstances Dylan and Tiger will come swooping in to bully the new MC hero like in this one, and everyone else will just be in awe of their supreme-alphaness. Yawn. The best books by far in this series in my opinion are the ones that feature those two characters the least, but the author seems to be in love with them so that’s not very often anymore. Maybe it’s just time for me to move on from this series.

Bree beginnt ein neues Leben und merkt das in der neuen Stadt sie keinen Anschluss als "Shiftergroupie" bekommt. Dann platzt Seamus in ihrem Leben und in ihren Pick-up.

First read in the box set Dark and Damaged.
Wonderful read in this series with two new characters.
Bree and her mother have moved to Texas to get over the loss of Remy, Bree’s brother. Bree is a shifter groupie who after being treated rudely at the local shifter bar, has decided to give it up.
Seamus is one of the uncollared shifters from Kendrick’s group, a tracker with a job to do.
Two human hunters have been murdered and Seamus is there when it happens.
Escaping from the scene and more hunters, he jumps into Bree’s car.
Thus starts a fun story with Seamus, without memories of the incident but worrying that he is going feral. He also at the same time has a job to do and a secret to protect.
Bree and her interesting mother Nadine help him.
I loved how Bree played up to the police, so fun.
Good cast of characters and though this all ends well for Seamus and Bree, it was extremely sad about Katie’s father.
Read and reviewed previously but review is missing.
