Quit with less than 100 pages to go… I just didn’t care what happened. Weird time jumps, circular internal monologues, the single chapter of *romance* was just that… it felt like very little buildup, very little yearning or even conscious acknowledgment of their feelings for each other before they 🧨 And then he’s a 300 year old virgin who doesn’t even know about periods but he knew exactly what he was doing in bed…? And all the problems were just so self-made, I finally decided that I was done being bored and mildly annoyed and chose to move on to another book.

Almost dnf'd a few times. Repetitive and characters act like it's new info when they already knew it. I'm not a fan of the fmc. She is selfish, and even after finding out he's real, she continues to exploit him. Is devastated about what she's done in one chapter and going to fix it, but is inviting more trouble the next. It was a really fun concept but wasn't executed well.

This was a cute, easy read but unfortunately it was just okay for me. I enjoyed it enough while I was reading, but it didn't really leave much of an impression. A fun little read, just nothing particularly memorable.

Unique but Repetitive
Loved the unique idea but the dialogue felt repetitive and lengthy. I was encapsulated in the beginning, truly a great story idea and if you want something unique. This is it, but you can also skip most of the story with the repetitive dialogue and still know what’s happening.

2.5-3 stars. I had high hopes for this because I love anything weird and Bigfoot related. It wasn’t a bad story, had a decent storyline. Some spicy moments. Some funny moments.
What I disliked was it was very repetitive with certain things, like her wearing her dad’s boots that were too big, her art history degree comments, boots in general, etc.
Again wasn’t a bad story/idea, just could have been written a little smoother/not so stiff and repetitive with things.

This was such a fun read! Not going to lie, the premise is what grabbed me! It sounded fun and silly. I was not anticipating to love it as much as I did! The FMC, Wren? Is just trying to keep her family legacy alive and the people who depend on her stable. Her imagination and take no prisoners attitude was refreshing. She saved herself and saved Rowen in the process. The forest guardian angle was neat. I loved that the idea of Big Foot was so much more.
The story itself didn’t have as much spice as I prefer, but I realize not everyone is a pervert like me 😜
All in all, I really enjoyed this book and would highly recommend!!

DNF 80%
This book and plot had so much promise, I read so much expecting the plot to improve instead of getting worse. The author focused too much on the characters problems instead of building chemistry and romance. The characters had barely any chemistry!! They had sex once, didn’t address it again, didn’t kiss. It was so… platonic.
The plot was decent and had a lot to work with but I feel like she just took it the wrong way. There were so many opportunities for romantic encounters and comedic timing that just failed to deliver on.
It’s disappointing mostly. Needs a little more zing.

Only to find out she's also the inheritor of the role of protector of the real Bigfoot, who can shift into a human form and keeps bees. She's betrayed this unexpected role, and the forest is in danger of losing its guardian and its magic.
She has to make some serious choices - the Inn's survival or protecting the forest? She makes some serious mistakes. How to survive with your integrity intact? How to protect love and money?
The writing was sensitive, a little repetitive when it comes to relaying her feelings, but overall interesting, original, and worth reading.

This was a slow going read for me. I found it often repetitive and the chemistry just wasn’t there for me between the main characters. I nearly DNF’d it quite a few times because of this.

This book had such an interesting premise, and I was really eager to read it. I’m sorry to say it didn’t live up to my hopes.
The story centers on Wren, who is trying to save her family’s failing wilderness lodge. She starts a Bigfoot hotline in hopes of drumming up business. Enter Rowan. He’s the mountain’s hermit, and Wren can’t figure out why he’s so upset with her scheme. Turns out he’s a Guardian, and has been protecting the mountain for centuries. And he and Wren’s family entered into an agreement ages ago that Wren has inadvertently broken.
I had a couple of problems with the book, chiefly that it was so slow going and repetitive. There were also parts of the plot that didn’t make sense, as well. And there was never any resolution to their relationship, just a happy for now.
I understand this is a collaboration between a trio of established authors writing under a single pen name (Roxie Ray) and a newcomer (Hazel Marie Wilde). This book could have used considerably more help from that trio of authors than it got. With its premise, it could have been something really good. Pity.

3.5 rounded up because I really really loved the concept.
It’s just sometimes the execution was a bit off.
For instance the whole book is written in clever metaphors but sometimes it should have just been edited a little more so if felt less repetitive because after a while that’s the thing by that lost me.
I also loved Rowans character - not just because we share a name. But because he truly felt deserving of such an ancient name and he was seriously so beautiful and grounded.
Wren on the other hand I couldn’t connect with as much there was something about the way she was written that felt like she was Mary Sue then a real person and that in the end made for me to not believe that a man of 300 years would fall for her.
I wanted to ship them so bad but for the most part I just loved hearing about how he was looking after the forest.
I still had a great time and was very satisfied with the conclusion but yeah I wanted to believe them as a couple so much more.

More cryptids now please!
Not me finishing this in basically one sitting.
The humor hit different than I expected, I felt a little seen and genuinely laughed out loud more than once, which is always a little embarrassing but also exactly what I want from a book. That man vs bear vs bigfoot - I cackled so loudly my cat gave me a disgusted look. The internet-brain jokes are so specific and there should be a whole category just for a hero with no interest in being charming who is charming anyway purely by being extremely committed to his own nonsense.
Also… I wonder if it's legal to put up bee boxes in my yard. I feel the sudden urge to put more effort into keeping the bees as a species alive.
The pacing dipped a little for me in the middle but not enough that I'd dock a star. I hope this becomes a whole series! But each book a different cryptid. Hint hint?!

I came for Bigfoot. I stayed for the sweetness. I thought this was just going to be a funny read but it was so much more than that. This book had some seriously cute and sweet moments. But it also had hilarious ones and some epic heated interactions. Wren was so relatable. She just wants to keep her family’s legacy alive. And she’s willing to do what’s needed to make that happen. To me that’s commendable. Rowan wants to protect the land and the creatures of the forest. The connection these two had may have started off rocky but it soon was a strong bond that could withstand anything. They were both willing to make sacrifices for the other. And it made me fall hard for them. Their chemistry was insane too. The spicy moments they shared were ridiculous and I mean that in the best way. This story was a unique experience and I enjoyed every moment I spent reading it.

He is not as the media would describe, he is not a hairy, ape-like man; he is a guardian of the forest. A 7ft tall man when in human form and a 9ft tall being similar to an Ent in the LOTR. A whole bunch of drama ensues with trying not to sell her new grumpy friend as a specticle but still being able to pay the bills. The only thing I disliked is that there was no resolution to the whole "He is immortal, and she will die" bit. I would have liked some sort of 'mating with a guardian will make you one too' type deal. They are doomed, and I don't want to think too much about that. Ever since living through the Crown me Dead duology, the mortal and immortal love has made me feel sad if I think about it to much.

Hate when characters do stuff knowing it's against the one agreement they made with the person they supposedly 'love'.
And she definitely knew because she thought about it three times and justified it to herself before doing it anyway.

Good book
My first Hazel book, but I’ve read several Roxie books. If you enjoy fictional fantasy romcoms, you must read this one. The bigfoot aspect was a unique trope that not many authors have used before, making it an attention-grabbing element. I couldn’t put it down, so I finished it in one sitting. The characters were adorable and practical, and their chemistry led to some steamy moments.

I normally go by the rule: if I can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all, but this book is... not good. It screams genAI to me, and I haaaatttteeeee throwing that around b/c it's too easy to do nowadays. When it felt like a real human wrote it, it was full of exposition dumps and kinda mean? Condescending even. I just could not enjoy it. I would not recommend either authors to anyone.

I've enjoyed plenty of Roxie Ray books in the past, but this is a far cry from the magic, emotion and characters that I'm so use to reading in those books.
The spark, convective tissue and desire to keep reading is basically non existent. Hoping this was a misstep and not the new norm with collaborations for Roxie Ray. Hope she does not work with this author again.

Fabulous story!! I found myself laughing out loud, and snickering at the snark.
Enjoyed all the characters, the locations, and the storms.
We need to stop calling them Bigfoot, and start calling them Guardians! More please!

Good but Repetitive
The story overall was good though it old had two short nondescript smut scenes. I don’t know how many times they repeated the idea of the ledge being old though. That got a bit tedious.

Adorable, Creative, and Fun
This book was lovely and mildly spicy enough. I loved it in the best way. I enjoyed the adorable way Rowan discovered emotions and Wren the pain in the rear she was figured out what mattered. Without any spoilers you'll love it too.

Great read, mildly spicy, slow burn
Love the writers tone, the characters are charming and build up to the 2 very short sex scenes.
The drama is so real, the hikers are in danger, and the cryptid is the only hope. Great story, keep it up!!!!

Premise sounded really interesting but it was terribly repetitive and there was only the tiniest bit of character development. The story wasn’t really compelling and the writing was overly flowery (AI-esque) with the exact same metaphors over and over. I finished it but it was a slog

Wicker who?
Omg, if you are intrigued by "wicker" you will enjoy this sweet solid Mountain Guardian. A touch of spice, but a lot of chemistry bubbling up in this book. I couldn't put it down.

This book was surprisingly fun. Very simple read and a very quick read. But this took a whole new avenue and a rather surprising romantic edge to the Bigfoot legend.

repetitive and no real ending
I read the reviews but gave it a chance anyway. I wish I hadn’t. My two big issues, one, how many times was it mentioned in different ways that he was 300 years old? Too many. I could have played a drinking game and got very wasted every time it was mentioned. Two, he’s immortal she isn’t. There is no end game here.
