About the author

Karen Whiddon spun fanciful tales for her younger brothers as early as the age of eleven. Growing up in the Catskill Mountains of New York, then the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, she found enough magic in the rugged peaks to keep her imagination fueled for years.

Now making her home in North Texas, she shares her life with her hero-like husband and three doting dogs. She writes paranormal tales for Harlequin Nocturne including the popular Pack series and romantic suspense stories for Harlequin Romantic Suspense.

She's also written Fae novels for Lovespell and a long time ago, she wrote five Precious Gem Romances for Kensington publishing. These she now owns again and has put them up for sale on Amazon.com among other places

Billionaire Wolf isn’t your everyday shifter story. There be dragons here.

Shifter, Ryan Howard, is a successful and very public business man. Not wanting any attachments, he keeps his connections to one night stands. When he meets Maria in a night club. They have a connection he cannot get out of head.

Maria is looking for her true mate. To continue the Drakkor race, it is Maria’s duty to get with child. For her safety, she must stay out of the spotlight, especially the kind Ryan Howard comes with.

When Maria's encounter with Ryan becomes publicized, Maria want to stay as far away from Ryan as she can. With an unnatural pull, that happens to be harder than she anticipated.

Billionaire Wolf has steamy romantic encounters but the story felt static, with me feeling little to no character connections. I’m a huge dragon shifter fangirl, so I really wanted to love this story but in the end it was just a like it.

I have followed The Pack series from the very beginning and I have to tell you that this is one series that just keeps getting better so with that in mind…what happens when you mix a sexy billionaire werewolf playboy with a sexy, determined dragon? You get one heck of a romance full of flying sparks and heated passions that won’t allow you to put the book down.

Driven by carnal desire and unwilling to settle down, Ryan stalks the nightclubs in search of meaningless conquests and the reader can’t help but get caught up in the story as Ryan and Maria find themselves facing unfamiliar and confusing feelings. The chemistry between Maria and Ryan heats up every page and the sex scenes are hot but the emotional turbulence that flows from the pages are what grab the reader’s attentions as these strong captivating characters struggle with destiny, duty and desires in this fast paced, smooth flowing plot full of suspense, turmoil, excitement and romance.

A merciless Drakkor has set his sights on Maria and as he sets his evil plans in motion danger and excitement builds lots of tension throughout the story which in turns adds more tension between Maria and Ryan while bringing them closer and unexpected twists brings surprises as Maria demands help from the Drakkor council that they are reluctant to embrace. Well written scenes and details capture the imagination and make it easy for the reader to become enthralled with the story while the intriguing events ensure that there is never a dull moment.

I have followed The Pack series from the very beginning and I have to tell you that this is one series that just keeps getting better so with that in mind…what happens when you mix a sexy billionaire werewolf playboy with a sexy, determined dragon? You get one heck of a romance full of flying sparks and heated passions that won’t allow you to put the book down.

Ryan is a man of action, that boy waits for no one, “no. I think I’m being robbed.” She dug in her purse for her phone so she could call 911. But Ryan didn’t wait. Pulling out a pistol, he took off running after the intruder." Ryan is seriously a confident man, "he grinned, sexy and roguish and… hers. “Then I’ll have you pregnant within a week,” he promised swiftly." I liked this book Ryan wasn't a spoiled rich man who thought he owned the world and his woman was confident and sexy.

The two compelling leads get more than they bargained for when they hook up for a night of no holds passionate sex. A scene that practically scorches the reader's finger tips. Maria's secrets put her in danger and she runs. Whiddon leads the reader on a merry chase that has them wanting to peak ahead to find out what will happen next. Story moves quickly and seamlessly from scene to scene. as part of a series you can look for many others to devour, but this book can be read as a stand alone.

This was okay, I didn't love it though. I think my problem was Maria, I didn't like her that much. I found Ryan okay but Maria and her obligation to her race line were a little tiresome.

A good mix of dragon/drakkon, and pack with a sprinkling of magic. Add in some suspense and of course a budding relationship between the H/h and you have an okay read.

Billionaire Wolf by Karen Whiddon is the first book in this series that I have read but later on I came to know that it is the the seventeenth book in The Pack series. However, despite this, this book can be read as a standalone story.

In this book, we meet Ryan Howard, a billionaire playboy who is also a wolf shifter. One night he meets a beautiful woman who introduces herself as Maria Miranda. Instantly attracted towards her, he is also intrigued by her but just like him, she is also one who always walks away for she is also hiding a secret.
What each of their secrets leads them to and how they find their true happy ending in the midst of danger is the story.

I was attracted towards this book because of the cover. I just loved the purple gown of the heroine and the cover gives off this mysterious vibe and had me checking out the blurb which is interesting and surely captured my attention.

This is the first book where I have read about a dragon shifter and I enjoyed reading about their dynamics. Maria is a dragon shifter and as one of the last remaining females of her race, her sole duty is get with child. Although having her pick of the males, so far none has captured her heart but all this changes when she meets Ryan. Soon they are facing dangers and difficulties they hadn't seen coming and amidst all the obstacles, it will take true determination and commitment to get their happily-ever-after.

The plot starts out in a predictable way and I thought I had it all figured out but then the author got me engaged in all the drama and the mystery behind Maria's life so far and the challenges she has in her future. I also enjoyed reading about Ryan and getting a deeper glimpse into his life which showed that despite his seemingly fickle lifestyle there is so much more to him.

I enjoyed the romance development between these two characters and felt connected to all the action and danger they faced in their journey to happiness.

The book is a quick read and had me entertained till the end. I know I will be checking out the other books in this series soon.

All in all, Billionaire Wolf by Karen Whiddon is a quick, entertaining paranormal romance with dragons and wolves and plenty of danger and thrill. 4 out of 5 to it and recommended to all paranormal romance lovers.

A short book about two people meeting and connecting in a bar only to learn they are both shifters.

Ryan Howard isn't just your normal rich playboy, he is also a wolf shape shifter. Ryan has earned his reputation of being a playboy, he enjoys women but never sticks with one very long or let's one inside his private life. When he meets a beautiful woman at the local bar there is a instant sexual attraction between these two. What Ryan thinks will be a wonderful one nighter turns into so much more.

Maria is on a mission to fulfill her destiny as one of the few remaining Drakkor women. She is to find her mate, fall in love and have children to ensure her race of shifters continue. When she meets Ryan in a local bar she is instantly attracted to him. After spending an incredible night in his bed Maria is hopeful that maybe Ryan could be the one. When Maria finds out that Ryan is a billionaire playboy she runs but Ryan is determined he is not letting this sexy woman get away that quickly.

Secrets unfold and these two must decide if fate has actually brought them together and if they can have more than just an explosive sexual connection.

Oh this book held so much promise for me, a dragon (Drakkon) shifter and a wolf shifter, together.. at last! But in the end, it wasn't just a good fit for my paranormal reading tastes.

There is a lot of focus/pressure on "continuing the species", so Maria is continually looking for the future father of her kids. There is also a serial killer/rapist on the lose subplot, which is something I never enjoy in romance novels. There wasn't a lot of time spend with the magic or shifting, and the romance and racy times were usually inferred. I didn't quite feel the pull between the characters, who spent a lot of time talking about how what they wanted was different.

In short, it feel short on the things I enjoy and didn't have enough of what I look for. Too bad, because this is part of a HUGE series that would have been fun to jump into.

The plot was really simple and I felt like it was dragging.
It actually caused me a headache.
I could tell from the very beginning how it would end, but I gave it a chance hoping it would get better.
The characters were annoying and sometimes I was getting lost in the description and the mood swings.
I liked the ending, but I think there were some minor holes in the plot.
Apparently, it was not for me.

This is the 17th book in the series The Pack. Ryan, A billionaire shifter is not looking for a long term commitment but when Maria walks away from him he feels lonely. She's a dragon shifter while he's a wolf. When Maria is kidnapped the two groups join together to stop a maniac.

Werewolves and weredragons, sign me up. I have a weakness for weredragons and this was fun and perfect for me. There were some moments of stupid but overall interesting and fun.
