Rayna Vincent has wanted Aiden Riveaux since she was sixteen years old. There’s only one problem—he doesn’t do relationships. So when he offers her a season of stolen nights with no strings attached, she accepts, willing to take him any way she can… even if she knows her heart will never survive.
Aiden Riveaux has a problem. A big one. He’s sleeping with Rayna, his brother’s best friend and the girl everyone thought of as his. Aiden knows he’s has to break it off, but after one hot night everything’s changed, including Rayna. Now she’s his. And he intends to keep it that way… no matter what.

Join the packs of the Mating Season
The mating moon is rising…
Wherever that silver light touches, lone male werewolves are seized by the urge to find their mates. Join these six packs of growly alpha males (with six-packs!) as they seek out the smart, sassy women who are strong enough to claim them forever.
The “Mating Season” werewolf shifter novellas are brought to you by six authors following the adventures of six different packs. Each novella is the story of a mated pair (or trio!) with their Happily Ever After. Enjoy the run!
Deanna is a native Californian, transplanted to the slower paced lifestyle of southeastern Louisiana. When she isn't writing, she is often goofing off with her husband in New Orleans, playing with her two shih tzu dogs, making glass beads, or out hocking her wares at various bead shows across the country. Finding one's true soul mate is the premise of this series. They are short, sexy and a decent story. Sadly they find their mates ans the story is good but too short. Continued storyline but never fully seems to complete and the end. Good thing the next book is out but sadly at the end of it I will probably feel cheated as the story won't continue but the the three brothers will find their mates and no more.
Aiden & Rayna were completely meant to be. Even if it took Aiden a hot minute to figure that out for himself.
Only being two books into this series so far, I can't really say how the entire series is going to be but so far, I am enjoying it. Short reads or listens in my case that take you on a spicy journey as a wolf finds his mate. There are a couple of laughs and even some truly awe type moments, I have no complaints.
Elena Wolfe and Jeffrey Kafer did a really good job narrating the growly wolf and the hot for her best friend's brother type thing.
Definitely will be reading book 3, soon. I think Luc's story could be very interesting or maybe the right word is entertaining...
I was given an ARC of Aiden from the author, in exchange for an honest review.
I was quickly sucked back into the lives of the "Wolves of the Rising Sun" & then just as quickly I was spat out.... I didn't want this book to finish.
Rayna has always been a part of the Riveaux family, her best friend Luc is her all time crush's brother. Aiden is only now letting himself have what he wants, but she's his brothers best friend, but one night changes everything....
I'm absolutely loving these stories, I just wish they were longer, especially with all the action packed inside.
Aiden is book 2 in Kenzie's "Wolves of the Rising Sun" series, which in turn is a part of the "Mating Season" pack series. A set of books from 6 authors, 6 different packs & an individuals story on finding their mate. I can't wait to read the last novella from Kenzie's "Wolves of the Rising Sun" & to delve into the other authors work in the "Mating Season" series.
Rayna and Aiden. Much better than the first book! The chemistry between the MCs was HOT! Rayna has loved Aiden for years but he has just treated her like his younger brother's best friend. Which is what she is, but everyone has always assumed it would someday be more than that. But lately Aiden has changed his tune and is hot for her. She's not sure what to make of it. For the last several years she has watched him leave the bar with other women time and again. He gives her no reason to think this is more than a brief affair. A brief secret affair. Neither of them want his brothers to find out because they both know they won't approve. But they just can't resist each other!! Then to spice up the plot more, there is the mystery as to who torched the bar. A real short read, but spicy and sweet and much more romantic than the first book.
I just love a short shifter romance. This book was HOT. 75% sex and 25% story, perfect to me! Once again, this author gave us a hot sexy werewolf and a strong confident human. This combo works for me every time.
The narration was great, I enjoy the female voice more than the male voice but they are both good.
A little family discord but all's well that ends well...
Aiden and Rayna have known each other since they were teenagers but brother Luc has been Rayna's best friend for 20 years. Nothing romantic has ever transpired between them--it has been strictly platonic. Rayna even knows Luc's family secret and vows to keep it and becomes a fierce protector of her friend and all things wolf.
Wolves are territorial...
Fast forward to the present--Rayna has been living with her Luc for the last five years while unbeknownst to Luc, Rayna and Aiden have been carrying on a secret tryst for the last three years.
Everything hits the fan when Aiden mates Rayna stunning Luc with feelings of hurt, anger and betrayal by two people he loves and never saw this coming. Luc has always believed Rayna to be "his". This is not the life Luc wanted for Rayna.
Predictable but likeable novella. On my Were Scale of Hotness, 2 stars.
Rayna has been a defacto member of Aiden's family for years. She's best friends with his brother Luc, and they live together. He knows she's off limits, but he's been attracted to her for years. When things heat up between them, he plans to keep it casual. Until the mating urge comes over him and he can't stop from claiming her.
Rayna has been in love with Aiden most of her life. She knows he doesn't see her as anything more than a bang, but she wished he did. When they get carried away in the heat of the moment and she begs him to claim her, she's totally ashamed of herself. She never wanted to force Aiden into making her his mate. When danger comes, both will have to decide what's truly important.
These are short, light reads. I enjoyed seeing Aiden and Rayna come together. There was just enough angst to keep me interested.
In this next bite-sized story from Wolves of the Rising Sun, we dive into Aiden and Rayna’s fiery dynamic—and I couldn’t get enough. Rayna has been carrying a torch for Aiden for years, but he’s always been the guy who doesn’t catch feelings, especially not for his brother’s best friend. Aiden thinks he has the perfect plan to dodge the chaos of mating season, but it’s honestly so satisfying to watch that plan unravel the moment Rayna steps into the picture. Their chemistry is undeniable, and the slow-build resistance on Aiden’s side only makes their eventual connection that much hotter.
What I really loved about this one is how the emotional tension simmers under all the heat. Rayna’s longing and quiet confidence meet Aiden’s stubbornness head-on, and watching him fall (hard) was everything. Just like the first book, this one is quick and steamy, with just enough emotional payoff to keep me hooked. It’s a perfect second installment—fun, sexy, and a little bit messy in all the right ways.
For a short story, this one tried to pack in a lot of plot. It hit just shy of the mark in that department. The very last chapter was a rush to include information that would be important for book #3, but I would rather have seen that in book #3 and left the entire chapter devoted to closing out THIS story instead of cramming extra revelations in there.
Book two aiden finds his mate with someone that's been in his life for most of it.I did not see the twist coming in this one I thought it would be luc in this story. I did feel not much happens in this book, just hanging in a bar like normal having sex with a friend oh wait she is my mate, hunters again for a cameo the end.
It’s just so so. But it is short, especially on audiobook at a faster speed, and free through Audible Escape, which means I’m continuing onward, even though I don’t love it. I’m not completely sure why, but I am, which means there must be small glimpses of something compelling here.
If you are intrigued by hot guys that happen to be able to shift to wolves then this series is for you. I have not been disappointed by any Deanna Chase book to date and I have read lots of them.
His brothers best friend, her best friends brother...
Full of saucy naughty bits. Absolutely sexy read with some action and drama. A quick, entertaining read for shifter lovers. Pack/brothers dynamics with brothers/ best friend trope.
It was a good story. It has lots of action and the plot still continued from first book but has more players. That part I liked because I was worried if it would be the end. I’m off to read book three.
This series has caught me off guard. And I absolutely love it. Granted these stories are short but sweet and full. I am not longing for more. Worth it.
I did the audiobook and the readers were good Nice little short story. Good characters and story line. I think it could have been made into a longer book just fine
Love this series this is book 2 and we met theses characters in the first book and didn't know much about them at first this one tells you about them and more of the back story of the first characters in the first book . It's set a couple of weeks after the first book.love the strong male characters in this series. Just stunning...
Aiden's book actually was a little more my favorite over Jace's, only in the fact of how he's never felt like love was an option for him. Yes, even when she's been under his nose the whole time. This series is really good and I'm truly glad Amazon suggested it to me.
This is now the second of Kenzie Cox's Wolves of the Rising Sun short novellas that I've read/listened to and I think I'm hooked. Despite the length of the stories they're written wonderfully. Cox managed to write a novella that checks off almost all boxes. The world building while limited was completely sturdy (yeah that sounds weird but I hope you get my point). The characters were well developed. I mean, of course I would have liked more of both *sigh* but with the length of the story there is only so much room for that stuff. Plus there was action. It's a great read/listen!
Both Wolfe and Kafer do a great job as narrators. They're very enjoyable. They both have great pacing and were able to pull me into the story. My only complaint is that I would like more definition between the characters.
The Mating Moon works it's magic again, this time for true mates Aiden and Rayna with another great read from Kenzie Cox.
'Aiden' is the second book in the Wolves of the Rising Sun series by Kenzie Cox and I was given this copy by the author in exchange for an honest review. It's also one of the books in the multi-author Mating Season Collection of 18 paranormal romances written by six different authors. Despite being part of a series, all the books in the Collection have been written as stand alones and are complete stories with a HEA.
I love this series about the Riveaux brothers and their bar on the Bayou and I really enjoyed this book about true mates Aiden Riveaux and Rayna Vincent, who have known each other since they were children and never got together, but this year's mating season is different. Everything changes as they finally start what, on the surface, is a strictly no-strings affair. I'm not going to give away any spoilers, but this book grabbed me on the first page, sucked me in, and didn't let me go until I got to the end.
Although it's written in the first person, something I usually don't like, it didn't really bother me. I was too engrossed in the story to take much notice and it alternates the point of view between Rayna and Aiden every chapter so you know what each of them is thinking and feeling as the story unfolds. It has everything I expect from a good paranormal romance, including action, bad guys to fight, steamy bits, a HEA and no cliffhangers. I loved this book, really didn't want to put it down and can't wait for the next one.
