This has to be the first book that I’m so frustrated with a FMC and really didn’t like her… Hollis was just downright mean and I really didn’t like that and Luke didn’t deserve that. For me Luke saved the story and I loved that for him because he deserved a happy ending especially after he put his foot down… Overall it was an ok read

I wanted to love this because the premise was kind of different, and marriage of convenience is one of my absolute favorite tropes. I loved their banter and the fact that once they locked in, they were a cute couple, with Luke pretty much running a strict program. 😂

But overall, this fell flat for me. For starters, Hollis was a pretty unlikeable FMC to me. Her level of anger didn’t seem justified, and I just wanted her to bring it down a few notches. She also came off as super bratty and annoying at times.

I also didn’t really buy into their reconnection. Ten years of hurt and distance, coupled with the level of ire Hollis had toward Luke, made it hard for me to believe they got back together as quickly as they did.

Idk, something was just missing for me. I did enjoy the banter and watching Luke and Hollis settle into their relationship, but I never fully connected with Hollis or bought into their reconnection. I enjoy this author’s work, so I’ll definitely keep reading her books, but unfortunately, this one just wasn’t a favorite for me.

Ehhh, I really wanted to like this book. Marriage of convenience AND second chance romance? I was supposed to eat this up. And honestly, I liked the setup. A couple who thought they were divorced finds out they apparently aren’t after receiving a will from Luke’s grandfather, Jimmy, with a list of demands they have to fulfill. Cool. I was with it. But after that, it felt like the author had an idea of what she wanted this story to be without fully executing it. There were way too many moving parts introduced that either didn’t make sense or never got proper resolution.

For starters, Luke and Holli had been separated for TEN YEARS. They’d both had other relationships, yet nobody questioned them suddenly being together in public, kissing, and living together? Holli literally had a man asking her for more in their relationship prior to her getting back with Luke? Like no …. You didn’t want to marry me but you marry this dude? That could’ve added some exciting to the storyline. It could’ve used it.

Then there’s the divorce itself. If they both signed divorce papers, how were they still married? Did Jimmy have something to do with it? Was something never filed? We never really get a satisfying explanation. And what happened with the lawyer? Did they officially fulfill all the demands of the will? What was the final outcome? These are things that should’ve been completed as part of the actual storyline instead of leaving me to fill in the blanks. My biggest issue, though, was the relationship. We didn’t get enough conversation about what actually led to their marriage falling apart or how they planned to move forward differently this time. After ten years apart, you can’t just tell me they still love each other and expect me to run with it. SHOW ME. Give me the conversations, the rebuilding, the vulnerability, the moments that convince me the love was still there on both ends.

Even the situation with Angie and her job felt like another storyline that was introduced and then never fully explored. And that’s where I kept getting frustrated…why introduce these side plots if you’re not going to see them through? That’s really what this book boiled down to for me: a lot of telling instead of showing and too many plot points without enough follow through. It started to feel like a jambalaya of ideas that never completely came together. The potential was absolutely there, and I could see what the author was trying to do. I just needed stronger execution, more connection between the storylines, and actual on page resolution to make it feel complete.

I wanted to love this book, but unfortunately, the characters just never clicked for me! 😩 I found both main characters to be immature at times, and their lack of communication had me STRESSED!

Hollis drove me INSANE with her stubbornness. By the time she finally came around and decided she wanted to be back with Luke, I was already over her! 😂 The way she treated him, you would’ve thought this man CHEATED—and that never happened!

I could understand why she had issues with him, but not to the magnitude that she did, especially considering how long they had been together. Then she served him divorce papers and got mad because he didn’t fight for her?! MA’AM. 😭 You can’t hand somebody divorce papers hoping they’ll magically understand that you don’t really want a divorce. Reverse psychology doesn’t always work the way you think it will! That’s why you don’t move like that!

Now Luke definitely had his flaws too! His biggest problem was COMMUNICATION. Sir, you were secretly making moves and working toward things that would benefit BOTH of you while you were away playing baseball…but HOW WAS SHE SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT?!?!

That’s really what frustrated me about their relationship. So much of their drama could’ve been avoided if these two grown people would’ve just SAT DOWN AND TALKED!

I understood both sides, but neither one communicated what they actually needed from the other. By the time they figured it out, I was exhausted for them!

I wanted to root for this second-chance romance so badly, but Hollis and Luke made me work entirely too hard for it!

This was a really good second chance romance. I was locked in from the beginning. Hollis was getting ready to stress me out with her lack of communication with Luke and telling him what she really wanted and needed and then being mad when he didn’t “fight” for her the way she wanted him too. All their time apart could have really been resolved by Hollis opening her mouth and telling Luke what she needed and wanted instead of assuming she was doing him a favor by ending things. I was happy that somebody intervened and it was hilarious seeing her reaction to finding out their marital status as well as the requirements to the will.

I was happy to see Luke wear her down and get her to stop fighting and denying her love for him and her desire for them to be together and work things out. Luke was all about Hollis and only wanted her to allow him to love her and provide for her. I also loved how he called her out and made her stand in her truth about them instead of continuing to run. It was also nice that her girls’, sister and granny called her out and helped her to face her truth as well. Hollis loved Luke and he loved her and they were meant to be together.

Luke Deacon has always loved Holis Walker. Since the sandbox days! After high school came marriage but chasing his dreams to be a MLB catcher seemed more to him , per his wife Holis.

They divorced or so they thought but things a got a little tricky when they have to be in each other prescience again. Hollis wanted to be a journalist and be far from Luke!

What happens with these two when after years of not being around each other and now they have to share each others space ?

What I loved the most is Luke was “my wife my wife “! Even if Holi’s wasn’t hearing that . Loved this story and how it all came together. Nothing left untouched such . If you love second chance this is a good one!

Is it fake dating or marriage of convenience if technically they’re already married & has been for over 10 years??!! Lol, ion know but I absolutely loved the way Morgan wrote this book featuring those two tropes along with second chance and sports romance tropes. This book was really good and had some messy moments due to the FMC’s career & an old granddaddy who wanted his grandchildren to be together. The only thing stopping this from being 5 stars was the FMC! Hollis aka Hershey wrecked my nerves real bad

Luke and Hollis never expected that they’d get to spend that forever they promised each other together. Thanks to a little devine intervention (meddling 😉) they got a second chance to keep that promise. In coming back together Hollis and Luke understood that love wasn’t enough to sustain a marriage and made a concerted effort to handle it with care the second time around. Spending Forever With You is perfect for the reader that loves yearning.

This book was Ehh and heavily irritating… the FMC was just too unlikable to me, and her actions at the age of 30 just seemed childish and immature… and the reason for her anger was just uncalled for…
I have when women want a man to chase her… you file for divorce and he is the bad guy because he did not track you down and ask why?!?…

3.5⭐️Hershey was playing and Deac was not with it. I loved the spin from the grave that led them back to one another; Pops was indeed a smart man. It was nice seeing the ladies from the other books. I enjoyed the way Deac was not allowing this second opportunity to pass him by on getting his one true love back.
