Subhasish Chakraborty started DTDC in 1990 with the intention of providing a better logistics solution to people. Challenged by a lack of capital to create a network, he came up with an idea to partner with entrepreneurs who shared his vision of providing the best customer service experience in the field of express supply chain logistics. The scheme was an immediate success and he pioneered the path-breaking concept of a franchise model, the first of it's kind in the courier industry. Today DTDC has a direct presence in over 15 countries.

About the author

Priya Kumar is an Indian motivational speaker, corporate trainer, columnist, radio jockey and author. She has authored nine books, out of which three are non fiction and six are fiction. Her style of writing is very versatile, where she has authored four inspirational fiction books, she has penned a book of original quotes, written two biographies and a non fiction tale of her adventures with the shamans, in the Netherlands.

In recognition of her work, she has won a total of 13 International Awards, which includes the Eric Hoffer International Book Award and the Evergreen Medal, along with several National Accolades. In 2017, Priya Kumar won the Speaking Tree Good Karma Award, for the best inspirational author, in the country.


As a motivational speaker, she believes in a unique approach and a refreshing perspective. Priya Kumar specializes in Fire Walking. She got her fire-walk certification from Sundoor, and went on to assist Fire Walk instructors across the world, before she introduced Fire Walking as a part of her Motivational Speaking agenda.

She has found that walking on fire is a great tool for transforming beliefs, and instilling in people a renewed confidence, about handling challenges. It challenges past beliefs, where the person has learnt that fire burns and now takes it head on, and walks on it, without as much as a sting.

This is story of Subhashish Chakraborty, the owner of the DTDC . Though I was aware about DTDC but really had now idea about the owner. Indeed his journey is nothing less than a fairy tale combined with hard work, astute brain and risk taking ability. He came from a non descript West Bengal village, born in a poor family and the book covers how he went on to become Calcutta University topper and made a big fortune with Peerless group. Later started DTDC and with lots of struggles wherein his brother and other partners betrayed him ..yet with his integrity and hard work he reached where he is. Among the biographies of business tycoons I have read, this book is very well written but strangeley there are no pics of Mr Chakraborty and his journey in the book. In the end author has also compiled life lessons from his journey. Overall a very well written book..worth a read
