Machinist Mate First Class Jackson Creed, Christy, and Frosty, have been separated from their companions. With no idea how to contact his friends, Marine Sergeant Joel "Cruze" Kelly, and out of supplies and ammo, the three reluctantly join a group who offer a secure and fortified location.
But the new group have done something that shakes Creed to the core, they've captured a shuffler, and plan to find out the ghoul's secrets at any cost. Now a massive horde of Z's is about to descend on the location and no one may be able to escape the coming onslaught.

I'm really enjoying this series. It's like an exciting version of a Tom Clancy (or at least what I envision as a Tom Clancy book) combined with zombies. Jackson, Christy, and Frosty continue their journey, having gotten separated from Joel the marine, Anna, and a wounded Roz. The story's told from Jackson's wise-ass perspective. Great action that clips along. It's a militarized version of a zombie apocalypse, yet it manages to really highlight the human aspect of the narrative... the good, the bad, and the downright ugly-even when humanity is facing extinction.
I'm jumping right into the next book, which is actually part of a three book compendium of books 4-6.
Not a deep thinking Zom-poc book where there's real moral dilemma, nor is it too cheap on its zombies. It's just a fun farce. Although I find it hard to believe that if so many are either dead or walking dead that there's no food or items anywhere. Really?? Everything's been looted that bad? That really hard to believe. That and how quick they get over their dead and losses...come on you meet and spend time with people then you still feel a loss when it happens. These guys are joking an hour later. WTH? Other it's an ok funny farce for an evening read.
Initially I was very disappointed in that around the first third of the book is just recounting what had already occurred in the previous books. Not sure how many people manage to leap into a series like this so seems like filler. I'm still somewhat disappointed at not a huge amount of content for the ticket price but after the half way mark the story hots up and leaves things in a good place that I did feel the need to purchase book 5.
Two buddies, a marine and a navy guy fall into together after escaping a zombie outbreak on their navel ship, landing in San Diego. They try to reach Camp Pendleton and their units only to be shot at, pursued, held hostage, kidnapped, joined several people in an attempt to stay alive.
I thought this book was great, you can pick this one up independently and not get lost from the start. I think that shows talent in a writer but also keeps his previous fans happy by keeping up with the whole apocalypse thing. Be prepared for something outside of the normal 'shoot and kill' or 'build the village' zombie story, the characters are believable and well developed. I thought maybe he based them off someone he knows lol if not he has a great imagination.
With Creek and Christy separated from Joel, Anna and Roz, Creed and Christy struggle to survive until they are met by a member of the Reavers. They hook up with them until a showdown between the Reavers and Bright Star bring them back together with Joel, Anna and Roz to escape the carnage. But not everyone makes it out.
I have been a Zombie fan from Texas get go, I have good, great , bad and so so. I have to say this is one of the best series I have read. A page turner for sure. Would love to see movie s made from this and the two other ones. Can't wait to read more.
What the what?!?!? I mean. SERIOUSLY. I CANNOT believe the high intelligence level ((sarcasm)) portrayed by several characters. You're just going to have to read it cause I don't do spoilers!! ;-)
