A really good anthology for schools. Good choices; especially the keeping together of thematic and closely connected works. I’m ashamed to say I’d never read any Jackie Kay or Fleur Adcock even though their names were well known to me. This book will act as a taster for both: they demand further reading. We all know Carol Ann Duffy, and rightly so. Liz Lochhead (how many words in English have a double h?) I knew but never knew just how funny she can be. She’s my favourite based on the poems in this book. But all four will get a longer read.
