Rule number Definitely don't fall for his best friend.
Rule number If the two ridiculously hot men in your life are keeping dangerous secrets … chances are, you should be too.
What can I say? I've always been a sucker for breaking the rules.
I thought running the hottest bar in town was the most chaotic thing I'd ever do. Then Hunter Cole set his sights on me and proved I hadn't even begun to understand the definition of chaos.
He's seductive, infuriating, and the kind of man who promises a woman the night of her dreams and actually delivers. Unfortunately, he bailed halfway through, so Hunter Cole can now kiss my ass goodbye. The problem? He wants a second chance, and backing down is not a skill he's fond of.
Maddox Blake, on the other hand … He's recklessly charming, a shameless flirt, and a walking red flag who came to my rescue after Hunter left me high and dry, roaring in on his motorcycle like he stole it. One touch was all it took, and I was putty in his hands.
Now I'm caught between two dangerously addictive men, a city gripped by fear, and the growing suspicion that absolutely nobody is telling me the whole truth.
How was I supposed to know one of them was a killer?
Better yet … how was I supposed to know the two men currently turning my life upside down were best friends? I'm in trouble.
Turns out, secrets have a funny way of colliding.
And when they do, somebody's bound to end up dead.
A coyote ugly style bar owner, an assassin, and a golden retriever best friend walk into a romance… and apparently that’s all it takes to completely unhinge me.
I was HOOKED from chapter one. This was hilarious, filthy, chaotic and packed with secrets, twists and turns I absolutely did not see coming. The banter between these three had me cackling and every time I thought I knew where this was heading, something else was thrown into the mix. I’m saying NOTHING because ✨ spoilers ✨ but trust me, you’re going to eat this shit UP.
My millennial heart was absolutely thriving with the Coyote Ugly vibes and Toxic as their bar song. Like??? Britney, spice and questionable men? I never stood a chance.
And Lyra is exactly the kind of FMC I fucking LOVE. Badass, chaotic and apparently Tangled wasn’t just a movie, it was a tutorial. 🍳😂 I support women’s rights AND women’s wrongs.
Motorcycles, explosions, murdery shenanigans, two dangerously hot men, seriously questionable morals and spice that was absolutely SPICING… this book really said why choose between a rom-com and absolute fucking carnage when you can have both?
There are a LOT of fictional men out there who have my heart, but Sheridan Anne’s badass FMCs? They’re my absolute fucking favourites. Every damn time. 🔪🖤
📚 How To Catch A Killer.. and date his best friend by Sheridan Anne ⭐ Rating: 4.5
✨ First Impressions This book was chaos and I loved it!!!
🖤 Plot & Pacing This was an addictive book!!! Between the FMC and the 2 MMC, the suspense story and just general Sheridan Anne chaos I laughed out loud so many times! Throwing pepperoni at an unconscious man to wake him up is insane 😂
🔥 Characters Lyra is a strong independent woman who knows what she wants even if it’s bad for her 😂 but I loved her so much. Especially when she stands upto her men. Then we have Maddox and Hunter, while Maddox is the golden retriever fun man he can also switch into that predator facade and I liked that duality. Hunter is big, tattooed and intense, he is a killer he has to be, but when he simps for her I melted 🫠
🌶️ Spice Level (if relevant) The spice is always going to be good if Sheridan writes it. The hot hookups and tender moments, then the sharing 👌
I am sounding like a broken record at this point, but why is no one talking about Sheridan Anne's dark rom coms? Like seriously. Why are these not plastered all over as book recommendations? This is the third dark rom com that I have listened to by Sheridan at this point and every single one was a banger. It was to the point where I never wanted to stop listening to the books. The narrations for each book is top tier perfection. The laugh out loud banter will have you rolling on the floor and the spice? Panty melting good! So again, why have you not listened to me at this point? Please for the love that is all things holy, read these books!
Ok now that my rant is done, we need to talk about How To Catch A Killer ... And Date His Best Friend. I would like to preface that I am not a huge why choose fan because my monogamous booty cannot not choose. Like I always side with one MMC over the others and sometimes I just feel like the power balance is off BUT this one was so good! It's an MFM between a feisty FMC who owns a bar like Coyote Ugly and two best friends. But here is the kicker, the friends don't realize they are falling for the same girl til one gets themselves into a bit of a pickle. And the confrontation between Hunter, Maddox and Lyra was so freaking funny. Like Sheridan, do you know how funny you are? We must have the same sense of humor because I find Sheridan to be so funny.
Now listen, this one is spicy. It starts off with a bang and keeps going. They share 👀 and so much more. So be prepared to sweat BUT this one also has a fun plot. Hunter is a contract killer, which Lyra finds out by stalking him. But plot twist, so is Maddox. Now these two are walking red flags, which means Lyra should stay away with a 10 foot pole. But there is no way our girl is staying away. In fact she runs straight in their arms. But here is the real kicker, Lyra herself is keeping a little secret from the boys. I'm not going to ruin the plot twist for you, you will need to read the book to figure that out but it's really good.
I just really am enjoying this dark rom com journey that Sheridan Anne is on and I need more. And please let them all be in duet audio because I feel like that's the best way to consume these books. It just only elevates the humor, in my personal opinion. The audiobook for How To Catch A Killer ... And Date His Best Friend is DUET NARRATION by Vanessa Moyen, Brandon Francis and Lee Samuels. And when I tell you, these three straight slayed the game. Each narrator was perfectly casted for these characters. But I will say, Brandon did a phenomenal job translating Maddox's golden retriever puppy dog self. Like the way he narrated Maddox's banter was so funny. Ugh, it was so good. The audio made me forget that I was reading. I was just so fully immersed in the story!
Overall, I loved this book way more than I should. And AGAIN Sheridan, please for the love of all things holy, keep these dark rom coms coming because they are giving me life!
Sheridan Anne's books are always easy and fun to read, and this one is no different. This FMC shows from the beginning that she's willing to ride for the MMCs' darker sides and they love that about her. I rated it lower because there are too many scenes where literal bullets are flying that the characters just stop to talk or argue for however long is needed, and miraculously don't get shot, despite being surrounded. Even the cops wait to show up until they've argued, checked on each other, given directions, kissed, and driven away...after having done all of that during the fight when they had no weapons and were ambushed by 20 people too. Like come on, let's be real. It's been a long time since I've read one of her books, but I didn't realize until this one how much she glosses over action by just talking about how well the MCs are performing said action... But this is (shockingly) only the third book I've finished all month, despite starting many others, so it deserves props.

Lyra is a hardworking bar owner who doesn’t take crap from anyone, so when a hot customer catches her eye, and promises a night she won’t forget, she finds herself agreeing, only to be ditched halfway through their date. Left frustrated for days, in more ways than one, she runs into a hot biker on her way home, who helps her relieve her frustration against the wall of her building. He’s sweet and while still a walking red flag, he seems like the complete opposite of the guy who left her hanging, and there’s something about him that makes her want to go back for more. But the first guy is refusing to let her go, and when she follows him one day and accidentally figures out what he does for a living, it makes her even more determined to resist.
Hunter and Maddox have been best friends for years, and nothing has gotten between them, until Lyra. Not realizing they were both obsessing over the same girl, they encourage each other to do whatever it takes to keep her, only to be left reeling when they find out the truth. But Lyra knows Hunter’s secret and makes it clear she thinks Maddox is the safer choice, although it doesn’t make staying away from Hunter any easier.
I received an early copy of this book from the author and absolutely loved it. Only Sheridan can have me laughing hysterically one minute and biting my nails the next. The chemistry between Lyra and these men is off the charts, and when they all get in on the fun, the pages catch fire! Lyra is the ultimate alpha-female, who knows what she wants and doesn’t expect anyone else to get it for her. She takes control in every situation, but I loved how she allowed herself her moments of vulnerability with the guys. Hunter seems like a brooding alpha-hole, but when he cares, it’s to the point of obsession, and he will do anything to keep those he loves safe. Maddox comes off as a chaotic ball of energy, but he loves fiercely and forever. In this book, everyone is keeping secrets, and it’s only a matter of time before they come out.
How to catch a Killer and date his Best Friend. Just the title alone is enough to tell you we are about to settle into a damn good time.
There is just something about an FMC Baddie that has you already on edge knowing she’s going to put everyone on show. I think I loved Lyra the most in this, she didn’t disappoint at all, if anything she got better as the book progressed.
Hunter, Maddox & Lyra
A killer, his best friend and a Baddie I mean what else could you really want in a book? Oh But Wait!!! Our MMC’s realise they have fallen for the same girl!!!! Fun times ahead is all I can say 😉 Did this girl choose one? Or both? I guess you’ll have to read to find out.
Our characters had some nice little confessions to make along the way, it kept the plot interesting and wanting to go back for more. I was here for a good time and certainly got it.
The Banter 👌🏻
Thank-you Sheridan for this ARC and letting me experience another one of your books.
I will quite literally read anything Sheridan writes, but when I saw the blurb for this one AND heard it was MFM? Yeah… my TBR didn’t stand a chance. 😂
Lyra is an absolute badass. She owns her own bar (think Coyote Ugly vibes), knows exactly what she wants, and has zero problem going after it. I was obsessed with her from the start.
Then we have Hunter… 👀 Lyra meets him, they instantly click, and everything seems to be going perfectly—until this man has the audacity to ditch her MID-DATE. Sir. 🚩😂
Fast-forward a few days and Lyra is wound up, frustrated, and in desperate need of a distraction… enter Maddox. 😏🏍️
And let me just say… Maddox.
These two together were 🔥🔥🔥 The chemistry, the tension, the banter… I was absolutely eating it up.
BUT THEN…
Secrets start coming to light, and Lyra discovers that Hunter and Maddox are best friends.
EXCUSE ME?! 😳
From there, things get messy in the absolute BEST way. The chemistry is insane, the banter had me grinning, and the spice? 🥵🔥 Sheridan absolutely understood the assignment.
I genuinely can’t say much more without wandering straight into spoiler territory, so you’re just going to have to trust me on this one…
ADD. IT. TO. YOUR. TBR.
And yes, I know we’re not supposed to have favourites…
“This man flirts like he was breastfed on confidence and bad decisions. Like breathing is optional. And damn it, I like it more than I ever should.”
Lyra Vale is a kick ass woman who knows exactly who she is and she’s perfectly happy owning and running the best bar in town, living her life and doing things her way.
Then she meets Hunter Cole. 🖤
He’s mysterious, dangerously sexy and gives off some seriously questionable vibes… but Lyra can’t deny the chemistry between them.
Just when she thinks things couldn’t get more complicated, a gorgeous biker named Maddox Blake enters the picture. 🏍️🔥
And let’s just say… Lyra’s life is about to get a whole lot more interesting.
This book had everything I love in a dark romance! Dangerous characters, secrets, murder, insane chemistry, witty banter, unexpected twists and plenty of spice. 🖤🔪🔥
Lyra is such a fun FMC, and watching her navigate the chaos around her had me completely hooked. The chemistry, the banter and the sheer unpredictability of this story made it impossible to put down!
Sheridan Anne definitely knows how to keep you guessing, and I loved every minute of this wild ride.
Tropes you’ll love 🥰 🖤 Dark romance 🔪 Murder & mystery 🏍️ Dangerous men 🔥 Plenty of spice 😂 Witty banter 💥 Secrets & twists ❤️🔥 A seriously addictive storyline
Was there even a doubt this was gonna be a damn good time..not in the slightest! @sheridan.anne.author knocks another one out the damn park! If you grew up obsessed with coyote ugly, true crime, and as an adult now love dark rom coms please run don’t walk to read this one! As always she delivers top tier banter, spice, and a FMC who will kick your ass!
Characters have no personality apart from "i'm so hard-core and badass because i'm rude and every single sentence that comes out of my mouth is dirty or sexual" and "i'm the comedic relief guy", the only redeeming character in this book was the dog and even HE had an issue with licking and kissing everyone. Zero plot, it's just them moving between scenes and fucking again or doing their badass talk to each other. Then randomly 2/3 through the book there's a big bad guy we're meant to care about? But it's okay because they took him out in about 2 seconds because they're just that badass.
The "twist" was both obvious from the beginning of the book and also so random at the same time. I knew it was coming but then it was just like... oh okay this is a thing. I only finished it because I paid for the audiobook and didn't want to waste my money even more than I already have
I finished How to Catch a Killer…and Date His Best Friend on audiobook, and all three narrators were easy to listen to and did a great job with the characters. The book itself though? It was just okay.
After loving Serial Bangers, I was hoping this would have that same chaotic, hilarious energy. The premise had the potential to be action-packed and really fun, but somehow very little actually happened.
I found myself uninterested for a lot of the story, and neither the plot nor the characters felt particularly fresh or memorable. I’ve read a few Sheridan Anne books now, and the more I read, the more I’m starting to wonder if Serial Bangers was a one-hit wonder for me.
There was nothing terrible about this. It was an easy listen and the narration was good, but overall it just felt flat. I’ve basically already forgotten it.
Honestly? This one was predictable. So much so that I was rolling my eyes often with the "twists" 😅 and I'm not one to ever say this, but it was the narration that saved it for me.
I honestly think Sheridan peaked with Serial Bangers, and all her dark rom-coms since then have slowly been less and less of a quality. Heck, to me this says SB take two, just with an extra MMC and poorer quality 😅
Thank you so much Sheridan Anne for the beautiful gifted eARC. This is my honest, voluntary review.
Y'all I black out when I see another banger from Sheridan (re: all her books) and I am so glad I applied for this beautiful ARC when I did... because I couldn't wait for my copy to arrive and HAD to binge this immediately!
And...I hate to tell you, but Sheridan wrote another BANGER with this one. If you love dark romcoms like I do (gotta read 'em ALL), and love wit, banter, and pure chaos... plus add a ton of why choose spice... YOU HAVE TO ADD THIS TO YOUR TBR. Or go ahead and order it.
I will quite literally always read Sheridan's work and ate this up. The twists gave all the twistiness I needed (no spoilers here) and the FMC was an incredibly strong baddie. The wit and the banter were everything and the spice was SPICY.
Sheridan can write about absolutely anything and I would eat it up. I go in blind and I hit every single wall in this chaotic read and enjoyed every second. Next I need this on audio.... BRB! 🥵
Tropes: 🔪 Morally Gray FMC x MMCs 🔪 Plot Twists were TWISTY 🔪 Why Choose 🔪 Romantic Suspense vibes 🔪 Forced Proximity 🔪 HEA

This is the kind of man who’s either going to ruin my life or scratch every itch I’ve ever had. Either way, he’s going to be useful.
Suspend your disbelief and prepare yourself for one heck of a good time. Because this book was a heck of a good time and I inhaled it while giggling and kicking my feet. I love Sheridan Anne's brand of FMCs and I have to say that Lyra was EVERYTHING. This is a woman who is confident, owns her sexuality, and isn't afraid to go for what she wants. And I loved that about her. I loved her sassiness almost as much as I loved her ballsiness. She absolutely delivered the sass.
Lyra owns one of the most successful bars in the city and never lacking a good time. But when a mysterious bad boy with come hither eyes steps foot in her bar and flirts with her, she's all in. And when he insists she goes out with him, she knows what she wants. But when said date leaves her high and dry when he suddenly hightails it out, suffice it to say she's pissed. So what's a girl to do? Well, give it to the sexy biker who she meets outside her apartment. Obviously. Isn't that what you'd do?
Maddox is just as addictive, and where Hunter was the dark horse, he's her golden retriever...with piercings. But things get complicated when she realizes that her hookup is best friends with her neighbor. And it gets even more complicated when said neighbor turns out to be none other than Hunter. And this is where the fun really begins.
This book was so much fun. Believable? Not in the least. But I don't read this to be believable. I read this for a good time, and a good time was definitely had. It was the perfect dark and depraved romp with all the banter and all the steam. And I inhaled it in one action packed sitting.
If you love a dark romcom with plenty of banter, two hot bad boys, and a woman who doesn't want to chose and the unhinged men who will do anything for her, look no further!

3.5 This is a Rom com with suspense and mystery mixed in.

Lyra is one woman you would love to have in your life for real. I loved how she was. She's so sassy, so strong, so beautiful and confident and she is one woman who isn't afraid to fight for what she wants and doesn't stop until she gets it. Hunter and Maddox don't realise they are both completely obsessed with the same beautiful woman. Hunter and Maddox come into her life at the same time and she's not afraid to take what she wants from both these guys. And no one said she'd have to choose between them both so she doesy, and I love this about her, she's not afraid to do whatever feels right for her.
I absolutely love how this author writes her FMC and this woman is no exception she is a bad a š..š that you will love. The guys are also awesome each in their own right and both these guys bring something different to the story. Sheridan writes amazing characters who have some hot chemistry between each other, and take it from me once you begin this journey, Hunter, Lyra and Maddox are going to take you for the ride of your life.
This story is full of and and turns, secrets and lies and moments that will have you laughing out loud. I absolutely loved the banter as always this author knows how to write characters who banter between them fabulously. The story has moments of suspense but I think I would have loved more nail biting suspense mixed in too, I felt like at times the story slowed right down and I would have loved some suspense moments thrown in here. But I absolutely love how this author writes and I absolutely recommend this book.
Once again Sheridan Anne writes a bad ass FMC with witty comebacks and MMCs that are that perfect golden retriever and morally gray combo. As always, I couldn’t put this down. I was cackling at the banter between all of the MCs. From the Coyote Ugly style bar to the rules at the beginning, I was hooked from page one. If you want a great Rom-Com with fantastic banter and some twists I definitely recommend this book! This story follows Lyra, a Coyote Ugly style bar owner, who finds herself enthralled with a man who walks into her bar. When he promises her a night she’ll never forget; she takes the chance to have a hot steamy one-night stand that will satisfy that release she needs. Only to be left high and dry after his phone goes off. When Maddox is on his way to visit his best friend, he encounters a mystery woman in the alley, who rocks his world. Not being able to let her go, He finds himself obsessed with her. Only to realize, she lives across the hall from his best friend. After returning home from work, Hunter finds his best friend camping out as his apartment. When Maddox tells Hunter all about this mystery woman, Hunter laughs him off and tells him all about the “date” that was his fault that went wrong. What will happen when all their worlds collide? Will Maddox get to keep the mystery girl he can’t stop obsessing over? Will Hunter ever get to make it right with the date he messed up? Will Lyra break her own rules? Read How to Catch a Killer … and Date His Best Friend to find out!
Coyote ugly inspired undercover assassin plot? Sign me up immediately!
OKAY so I need to talk about this book because I have THOUGHTS. Sheridan Anne really said "let's ruin this girl's life with two hot disasters" and honestly? Valid. Hunter Cole lives rent free in my head now; infuriating, magnetic, the kind of man who shows you a perfect night and then just... leaves you standing there? Sir??? And then MADDOX; riding in on a motorcycle like some unhinged guardian angel, like the universe's messiest plot twist and I actually gasped out loud. I was UNWELL.
Here's my honest gripe though (hence the 3 stars, don't come for me): the pacing in the middle sagged a little for me. I wanted more of the "killer" plot to actually bite; there were stretches where I forgot there was supposed to be a body count and a mystery happening, because I was too busy losing my mind over the romance. The suspense elements felt like they were waiting patiently in the corner while the boys had their moment.
But the CHEMISTRY. The banter. The absolute audacity of putting a hitman AND his best friend in the same love triangle?? Sheridan Anne knows exactly what she's doing to us and I both resent her and thank her for it.
Would I recommend? Yes, with popcorn nearby and zero expectations of subtlety🖤🏍️
Okay WHAT THE FUCK did I just read?? Sheridan Anne you’ve done it again you wonderful wizard!!
I was HOOKED. The banter? Elite. The tension? Disgusting. The spice? Absolutely doing the LORD’S WORK. 🌶️🥵 And the plot had enough twists, secrets and general fuckery to keep me questioning everything.
Every time I thought I knew where this was going… NOPE. Sit down bitch, apparently you know nothing. 😂
And the FMC?! EXACTLY my kind of woman. Unhinged, badass, morally questionable and making decisions that would have me screaming at a real person but cheering when it’s fictional 🤣
Then we have the men. Because obviously I needed another fictional man—or two—to completely destroy my standards. Protective? ✔️ Possessive? ✔️ Questionable morals? ✔️ Would probably benefit from extensive therapy? ✔️ Perfect. No notes.
This book somehow managed to be hilarious, spicy, chaotic and completely fucking addictive while still having me invested in the actual story. I laughed, I gasped, I questioned everyone’s sanity and I absolutely DEVOURED it.
Basically, if you like your romance with banter, spice, morally grey decisions, hot men and a healthy sprinkle of WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK, add this shit to your TBR immediately.
My standards for fictional men remain deeply concerning. 🔪🖤 Thankyou so so much for the arc! 💜💜
Sheridan Anne and her dark romcoms are seriously my kryptonite. The way I was laughing throughout this one 😂 I had the BEST time!
A Coyote Ugly-style bar owned by our FMC, Lyra, a contract killer and his best friend, a whole lot of secrets and a whole lot of chemistry… say less 👀
Lyra is out here collecting all the big O’s and having the time of her life 🤭😂 and honestly, good on her. I was obsessed with Maddox from the get-go 😮💨 Him doing his lil dancey dance for Hunter had me laughing out loud 😂 iconic bestie behavior 🤌🏼
The chemistry and banter between these three was OFF THE CHARTS. And you know I love a good group chat — the one between these three had me absolutely cackling. Those nicknames?! 💀😂 Both of these men were HOT 🥵 Lyra is one lucky gal getting herself a Maddox and Hunter sandwich 😏
I also love a good plot twist, and I had a sneaky suspicion that there was more happening behind the scenes 👀 I loved the twists and turns that kept me hooked, along with all the action, banter and delicious spice ❤️🔥
I had such a great time reading this one and would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a dark romcom that will have you laughing, swooning and turning the pages!
I love me a good rom com, mixed in with a little....action and then some other type of action. Though I am a selfish reader and always want more, more plot, more backstory, more development, more everything. But that's with every good book. I think that is just a testament to Sheridan's writing and how invested I get in the world that she creates.
I love Lyra. I want to read her biography. I want to know how she came to be the person that she is. I want the same for Maddox and Hunter. I love the juxtaposition of their personalities yet they somehow perfectly balance each other and somehow Lyra fits them both perfectly too. Kinda goes to show that the right person will fit you the way you need them too. And these are a trio of soulmates imo.
I also loved the bouncers. Every scene they were in, gold. I wouldn't be mad if Sheridan wanted to write their books too.
If you want a quick easy read with great banter and levity, this is it. And obviously, there is spicy spice. Which is always nice.
Idk, I never know what to write because I say the same thing. She knocks it out of the park every time for me. She has not missed once for me. So. Ya. Can't wait for whatever comes next!
So soooo good. I bought the audiobook and borrowed it on kindle unlimited because I like/am familiar with two of the narrators and the author always delivers for me. Can I say — ART?! What?!?!? Yay!!!! Maddox and Hunter are pretty 🔥 I love Maddox. I’m forever a lover of the unhinged golden retriever 🤩 Hunter is gruff and grumpy, so is our MFC her nickname is Savage! Sooooo yeah. She’s totally my vibe.
RE Audiobook version
The MFC’s Narrator Vanessa Moyen is always great, never whiney sounding unless she’s supposed to be, sounds convincingly kick a$$, emotes well — definitely enhances any audiobook I’ve listened to!
I love the author and enjoyed Serial Bangers quite a bit (may grab audiobook for that one and do another go through)
The Dark Romance Rom Com vibe hit more for me with this book but that may be the narrators delivery vs my own internal voice Maybe I’m just not funny to myself 😋
5⭐️ 3.5 🖤 3.5 🤣 4 💥 3.75 🌶️ 4 🎧
No Spoilers not even tropes until it’s been out a bit lol
4.5⭐️ I love all of Sheridan Anne’s books and absolutely recommend this one and all of her recent standalone dark romcoms. That being said, this one is not plot heavy but full of soooooo much chemistry and spice between these three, they could definitely break the scale. Every one of those scenes produced a particular need! Lyra’s feistiness, independence and confidence is stunning and makes her a perfect match for the hottest walking red flag around, Hunter. Forget ‘meet-cute’, they took that, said “hold my beer” and turned it into a ‘meet-sure thing’… fail. Maddox, the typical golden retriever (maybe, everybody has their secrets) finds himself on the receiving end of Lyra’s frustration, that he will 100% reap the benefits of. All three of them keeping secrets that could or couldn’t change everything, kind of makes them all a perfect match for each other. We can’t forget about the best side character ever, Smooch🖤🖤. This one is dishing out the HOTTEST 🌶️ on the Scoville scale. I mean of course it does, who would choose between Hunter and Maddox when you can have both.
As soon as I caught onto the Coyote Ugly vibes, I WAS ALL IN!! I loved that movie, so watching those vibes come to life in this book had me so dang excited. And Toxic as the song choice for a sexy bar dance?! My little millennial heart is so happy!!
I already knew I loved this author's writing, but this one was EVERYTHING. Messy, hilarious, spicy, and packed with the kind of chaos I prefer in a dark romcom.
And Lyra?! Hands down one of my favorite FMCs lately! This woman is a baddie through and through, and I was HERE for her. The fact that she had me laughing one minute and completely shook the next? And that twist there near the end was not one I expected at all.
Nowww Let's talk about Hunter and Maddox. TWO ridiculously hot men, best friends, and enough red flags to fill prob an entire football field. The chemistry, the banter, the dynamics between them?! I was right there with Lyra because HOW THE HECK WAS SHE SUPPOSED TO CHOOSE?!
And I'll never not be a sucker for a man with piercings. Just saying.
Okay, my pun can use a *little* (or a lot) of work. But, disregarding that little hiccup… This book really is a seriously good story.
The characters were fresh, and had their own distinct personalities. If you’re reading this book the chances are this is definitely NOT your first dark romantic comedy. Meaning, we all know there are certain tropes that like to pop up in books (and obviously they’re amazing because they wouldn’t have become popular tropes for nothing). And while this novel certainly has some, Sheridan Anne has managed to create just enough uniqueness to her characters that they don’t make you FEEL like you’re reading one.
I love, love, LOVE— the dynamic between the two MMCs. Their banter and the way they interact is everything. I feel like their friendship was intentionally made as important as their relationship with the FMC.
HOW TO CATCH A KILLER AND DATE HIS BEST FRIEND IS OUT TODAY!!!! I was so excited to see a Why choose MMF book from the goddess Sheridan Anne! Her books are always laugh out loud funny, and there were SERVERAL of those moments. Keyword- Brittany Spears, tied up (if you know you know) 😂 Lyra is a boss b who runs the hottest bar in town, and is not someone you’d want to mess with. Hunter, my morally grey sexy man, may or may not be an assassin (and neighbor?!) And Maddox was my absoloute favorite morally grey golden retriever! It was a smallllll world in Lyra’s case when worlds collide and the three of them get mixed up together. This was 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ and ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ , hands down one of my favorite books by Sheridan Anne. I can’t wait to get my hands on the physical copy so I can add to my shelf trophy’s! I keep saying the audiobook is going to be GOLD and that’s going to be on repeat for a long time like Serial Bangers was!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Seriously such a fun read! Has so many of my favorite pieces of a dark romance but with moments of laughable moments throughout the book
Lyra was a bit reckless and left me thinking about how this girl has no self preservation … She will surprise you though - both in her badassery behaviour and boss babe attitude.
Maddox and Hunter well both those hot AF men will leave you pretending your colour blind and ignoring all the red flags because DANG them are some fine men. They may be serial killers but they love Lyra and want no harm to come to her.
There’s a twist that I can PROMISE you will NOT see coming. Never would I have expected that but was not surprised in the least. Absolutely made for a fun and dark turn in the story.
Killer of a story- devoured it so quickly with zero regrets.
