Loving someone has never been so deadly.

Valerie Harper has one assignment, one mission. Assassinate her mark and everyone he loves. But what happens when she finds that she loves him too?
Her instructions are simple; do not fraternize with your target, observe at a distance, and never engage with the enemy. However, as things take an unexpected turn in Val's world, these simple instructions begin to change.

Refusing to be a puppet, Kyle Shultz walks away from his old life and settles into the college routine. But the life of a student is more difficult than he imagined. Making friends and attending parties are as foreign a concept as showing a target mercy.

The lines between the state of the job and the affairs of the heart are blurred as Valerie and Kyle’s worlds collide.
With a maze of enemies and hit lists to navigate, will these two young adversaries proceed wide-eyed and alone into the fray? Or will they blindly trust the feelings they can no longer ignore?

Blind Trust has a lovely cover doesn't it. I am a sucker for a good book cover. To me, its presentation to a book, so 10/10 for that.

The story itself has reached a 3.5 for me, it was a very good storyline, good plot, but sometimes fell by the wayside a little for me.

Kyle Shultz is/as...an assassin , hard, dedicated and good at what he did.

But something happens where he decides to go off the radar. Can that happen with an Assassin? no. Of course not.
There are many after his blood.

Valerie Harper has a mission to fulfill. Mark who she needs, do not fraternize with your target and never speak or get involved with the enemy

Of course, that doesn't happen and all sorts of complications erupt from this.

My personal thoughts
Good well thought out story.
I could see upfront what was going to happen, there are a few twists in here but a little predictable, not a bad thing, but would have liked to have been kept lurking for the answers sometimes.

I found Valerie at first having all the attributes and horrid qualities that go along with her "mission" then she seemed to change from a bad ass to someone weak and needy [or was that just me?]

It was a little bit like James Bond stories. However, look how far and how many films have been made of that.

I have a feeling there are going to be varied degrees of reviews on this and I can't wait for others thoughts.

description

This is the first book that I've read by this author and unfortunately, it's probably the last also. It wasn't any one thing that didn't do it for me with this book. It was a varied combination of basically every aspect of the book. Honestly, I didn't even finish the last 60 or so pages because I just wasn't invested in the story and I didn't really care how it ended.

One of my biggest issues was with the conversations between the many characters in the book. They didn't seem authentic - they were stiff and the wording was sometimes weird. At one point, I even wondered if the author was from a different country because maybe something was literally lost in translation. Unfortunately, that wasn't the explanation ... well ... unless Arizona seceded from the union and they were able to establish their own language in the last 3 or so years.

Right along with the conversations comes the inner dialogue for the characters. This was also dry and stiff and because of that, I felt like I never really got to know the characters. It was almost like the book was being written from an unemotional pov. Which would be fine ... but that wasn't established within the story and it just doesn't make sense. Now this isn't a direct quote but let me give you an idea of how the story read: He was mad. He stomped his foot. He didn't like what was going on. He was so mad.

Like I said, that's not a direct quote but do you kind of see how you read it in your head with that monotone, robotic voice?!? That is how the book sounded in my head with every single word. Is that the author's fault? Not necessarily. But I'm pretty sure my inner reading voice isn't broken because as I type this and talk in my head, I sound pretty awesome. This robotic read issue could very well be me. But that doesn't take away the fact that the book just fell extremely flat for me.

I thought that the plot trudged along slowly. I think that my attention would have been captured if it had moved just a bit more swiftly. Basically, this just wasn't the book for me. The characters didn't grab me, the plot didn't grab me and I didn't even care enough to finish the book (which hardly ever happens, btw). On to the next one.

Book Title: Blind Trust
Author: Felisha Antonette (Peiri Ann)
Series: Stand Alone
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Publisher: Indie Sage
Source: I received an ARC via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

I was definitely drawn to this cover, I mean, I would give it 5 stars easily.  Those freakin' bedroom eyes...but they ultimately lied to me.

DNF...at 11%...I know, I didn't get very far. I tried, I just couldn't do it, it felt like torture. They are suppose to be assassins...but they mostly seem like dumb teenagers. It was difficult to keep the many names, nicknames or fake names...I don't know...straight and that was only at the 11% mark. If what you're reading is causing you to roll your eyes every other line, (and that's on my phone w/kindle App) then maybe I or anyone else, should not be reading it. My rating for the part I did finish would be 1 star...and that's not really fair, so this one doesn't get a rating.

Holy
Crap.
This book was incredibly badass.
Words cannot describe…
I'm utterly speechless.
Who the heck thought I'd be into novels revolving around assassins, benefactors, gangsters, drug dealers, assassination agencies…. But this book.. Yes, the synopsis appealed to me -a lot. But now that I've finished this book, I realized how understated a synopsis can be…
I rooted for every single character out there. But what made me adore (yes I used a pretty heavy word here) this novel is the fact that every single character is unpredictable; especially Val and Kyle. It kept me on the edge of my seat. Not trusting THE MAIN FRIGGIN CHARACTER. That's how you know you've written a good book.
Valerie was complicated in her own way. I loved her totally kickass, callous and cruel front she puts up. Super professional and totally unsympathetic. Selfish but selfless, coldhearted but deeply loving and affectionate. She' s a walking contradiction; she was taught not to feel, not to love, not to care. But here's a side-effect; when she does feel, it's tremendously intense. A professional assassin that does her job perfectly. I'm not the least bit embarrassed to say that she is one of the very few female protagonists that I truly admire and look up to.
Kyle… I cannot talk about him without swooning every two seconds. His sentimentality was such a friggin turn on. I admired every single thing about him. I cannot even comment on anything. Perfect, that's what he is. His 'family comes first' stance on everything was so damn attractive. His past of breakups and their effect on his ability to easily fall for Val was just too much to handle. He's got this bad boy with a dark past thing going on without being a bad boy because he's literally the sweetest little shit I've ever encountered. I can't even.
Can we already skip to my favorite character?
*drumroll please..*
Rick. Short for Richard. Aka the new love of my life. Good looks? Check. The friend that's always there whenever and however you needed them? Check. SARCASM? Double check. I personally thought he was the most essential part of the book. I actually cannot imagine it without him being in the picture. His relationship with Kyle literally made me lose it; I'd either laugh hysterically, swoon, or sob my eyeballs out. There's literally no in-between
All in all, this book was exceptional. And mind you, perfect, to a T as Val would say. Don't want to scare anyone off, but this novel is nominated to be my favorite contemporary to be read in year 2017, (or may I say, ever?).

Blind Trust was such an eventful read! I’ve been in a horrible reading slump this whole month and I was worried on if I would be able to finish Blind Trust and if I would even enjoy it.

Peiri Ann’s writing style kept me engaged from beginning to end. If this was a physical book I would probably have paper cuts on my fingers from constantly flipping pages. The plot was well crafted and there were so many plot twist that I just didn’t see coming, I like to think that I’m pretty good at guessing how things will unfold but Blind Trust kept me guessing.

I really enjoyed Kyle’s character and the plot development. I felt like Val’s character didn’t stay as a independent character from start to finish.

Blind Trust has it all: strong characters, humor, suspense, thrills, romance, action, surprises, crisp writing style, unexpected ending and excellent editing. I love how the story drew me in and had me trying to figure out what was going to happen. Nope, never in a million years would I have guessed the ending.

Kyle quit his employer and is a college student being observed by Val, who is an assassin. When they meet via a mutual friend, things quickly get very interesting. Will she kill him? Can she kill him? If he finds out, will he kill her?

Must read. Now!

Blind Trust was something vastly different from what I've read before. There were so many plot twists that it had no choice but to be original. It was of an array of suspense, mystery, humor, love, happiness, sadness, and there wasn't a lack of steamy scenes.

I really wanted to be head over heels for the book, but I just couldn't get there. I finally realized it was because of the lack of authenticity. Val, the main character was supposed to be a bona-fide assassin. At first, she played the role really well but she slowly slipped into this whiny character who needed to be taken care of all the time. She was described as someone who killed a handful of people without a second thought, but with the way that she was written, I highly doubted it. She also couldn't make up her mind—if there is anything that turns me off to a character, it's the lack of decision making.

With that said, I was head over heels for Kyle—there was no choice in the matter! He was headstrong, smart, sexy and just purely lovable. His character definitely saved the book, along with the continual plot twists. If I could give any advice to the author, it would be to make her female lead stronger, mentally and physically. No one likes a weak female. ~ Kelly, 3.5 stars

I had the privilege of getting an early read of Blind Trust by Peiri Ann and I can't wait for the rest of the world to read it. Yes, the entire world! It is a truly awesome book.
Spies, assassins, and love -what could go wrong? ;) Seriously though, Peiri has fast became a favorite author. She hasn't disappointed me yet, & I doubt she ever will. She just had a way of storytelling that sucks you in the moment you read the first line. She knows when to throw in emotions, & what emotions they should be. I loved Val & Kyle's story, even though there were times I wanted to smack them! (Don't worry, I got over that.) And while this wasn't technically Rick's story, I ended up falling in love with him! I'm hoping he'll end up talking to Peiri and we can get his story soon! :)

I received a copy for an honest review. Blind Trust was a bit different from what I usually read. The story is great and full of suspense. The characters are interesting but there is some point I cant connect with it. There are some parts that I get frustrated and want to skip and the fact that they have too many nicknames. All in all it was a good read and enjoy some parts of it.

This book had a good story. Kyle is an assassin. The company he worked for wants him back but he doesn't have any intention of going back to them. Valerie is also an assassin, and her target is Kyle. Kyle is into his 'new life' and trying to make it all work when his and Val's paths cross. With that, nothing is the same nor can it ever be the same. Assassins don't trust easily for a reason and he has plenty of reasons not to trust Val, but he still wants to.
I really liked Val in the beginning. She was a tough, determined chick. Her mission was to kill Kyle and that is what she was going to do. She might be in love with him from her long mission of watching him, but she was going to do it. Kyle was somewhat full of himself, especially when it came to women, but that wasn't surprising. He has a bit of a 'James Bond' feel to him, but once he was determined to be with Val, he still had issues. Val went from strong to a bit of a wimp but she came out of it some. The whole group was an interesting dynamic. I think Kyle's niece was my favorite. I still don't really like his brother or pseudo best friend but that was the way the author meant for it to be! The story itself was good, if a bit predictable.
It was a 3/5 for me. Good story, just got a little caught up in itself.

Thank you to the author for the review copy of this book. I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.

This book has more twists and turns than the Appalachian Mountains and just as dangerous and beautiful too. Blind Trust, do any of us have someone like that? I don't know if I would be as trusting as Kyle especially after given so many reasons not to.

I'd have to say this was extremely well written and exciting and anyone who likes murder and mayhem with a splash of love and family and add a lot of deceit and lies will love this book.

Val has her target in site and knows more about him than he does about himself. The thing about being an assassin is that you can not get close to them and Val does well until her best friend Sandy is good friends with her target Kyle and they end up spending time together. Why does he have to be so nice?

Kyle wants to let go of his job as an assassin and lay low but they keep sending him more assignments and he has to follow instructions or his family's lives could be at stake.

Now Val has gotten herself on the hit list and can't seem to get off of it and they both get help from a most unlikely source.

Just remember things aren't always what they seem, some people you think are your friends are actually your enemies and some of your enemies may actually be your friend.

Unfortunately this book wasn't for me. The writing is good and there's a solid story in there but for me, I felt it was all a little....rushed and dragged out at the same time....if that makes any sense at all.

The story starts off with Kyle and immediately I wanted more information. There's little explanation as to what exactly has happened for him to walk away from the life he's made for himself. Kyle's character has great potential but given his profession, I just didn't buy it.

I didn't find the relationship between the H/h believable and I found Val to be a very irritating character.

I got to 30% into the book and I felt like I could have read a whole book in that time (slow) but also rushed because so much (despite the lack of details) happened. I was just left feeling no connection to the characters.

This is of course only my opinion and I'm sure others will disagree and will love the book. I wish the author the best of luck with the release but unfortunately it wasn't as good as I was hoping.

Ok so I've just finished reading Blind Trust!
I have to say this is one of the best books of this type that I have thoroughly enjoyed in ages. It is fast paced with lots of action and a bit of love all rolled into one great story line which hooks you from the moment you read page 1 of chapter 1.
Blind Trust is the third book I have read by the lovely Felisha, I would and definitely will be recommending this and all the other books which have been written by this very talented author to all my reading friends, and generally anyone who will listen to me as I sing the praises of this lovely clever young lady!
In Blind Trust we get to meet the gorgeous and hunky Kyle and Val or spirit as he likes to call her, and all of their close friends and family. Kyle and Val each have missions to carry out in order for their lives to remain safe and lovable, but can they do the hardest thing ever when they are pitched against each other? Make this your next great read to find out!

When I was asked to review this book, I wasn't too sure what I was going to think about it but I am very glad I was given this chance! There are so many twists and turns that I almost had whiplash at times. It's not common at all for me to be completely caught off guard for almost the entire book! It was awesome. There was a constant "who's who" and "are you freaking serious?!" conversation that played out in my head. Major brownie points to you Peri Ann for that ability!! 5 SHINY STARS!

This is a fun book to read. It has a lot of twists that keep you guessing what’s going to happen. The characters are funny and there is a lot of humor in this book. Its action packed and kept me reading to the very end. I could see this book becoming a Hollywood movie. Loved it! I can’t wait to read Vague Perception, Rick’s story.
I received this book as an ARC but the author never asked for a review in exchange, this is all my own opinion.

Wow! A really good suspenseful read with likable characters. Valerie Harper's instructions are simple: take out the assigned target. She's not supposed to fraternize or ask questions. She's certainly not supposed to fall in love with him!
The writing is great and I loved how Kyle and Valerie's worlds intertwined and collided together. An unexpected ending I really enjoyed!

The story has lots of twists keeping you guessing on what's coming next, the characters are funny, there is a lot of humor, action, suspense, sadness and mystery in this book.

I like how the story has dual POVs allowing me to connect with both of the characters. The writing is good and descriptive. Although there's a solid story it sorta felt a little rushed.

Valerie and Kyle are both assassins and they're assigned to kill each other. Val spends a period of a year studying her target (Kyle), learning everything about him until it's the right time to make her move. The only problem? She falls in love him in the process and no longer wishes to go through with it.

Valerie Harper (or Val) is a complicated character in her own way; selfish then selfless, coldhearted then warm and loving... I liked her, but sometimes she was just whiny and annoying I had those moments i wanted to shake and smack her.

Kyle Shultz is charming and loving with his family, taking care of his sick mother (and famil in general), his sister and his niece.

I found Blind Trust while it was on sale and thought it sounded like a good read. It was interesting and different. I love a good suspense story but I found this one to be slow and a little repetitive at times. I mean who could you trust and Kyle and Valerie had to always be looking over their shoulder because someone was always out to kill them. It was even funny at times.
This is a first for me from this author and I enjoyed it and can't wait for Rick's story.

**4 KILLER STARS**

Val:

I'm in like not love with this story. Here's how I came up with my rating:

Cover: 5 Stars
Story: 3 Stars
Writing:5 Stars
Romance: 3 Stars

Let's start with what I liked. I really liked this author's writing. The author did a really good job of building suspense by sort of making every chapter end with a cliffhanger. I also liked that this story was dual POV because this allowed me to connect with both main characters. There was a definite beginning, middle, and end. However, I just wasn't in love with the story. Don't get me wrong, this book was different. The premise (each of the main characters are assassins and are assigned to take out on another) was different. However, some parts of this book made me cringe...but that's not why I rated this story. In fact, that helped my rating because when an author gives you feels (no matter good or bad) that's a testament to that author's writing ability. My issue with

Kyle:

The problem for me with the story was the development of Val and Kyle's relationship. To me, it happened too fast. I get that she had been watching him for more than a year, but in that time she had no interaction with him. It's one thing to grow fond of your subject, but to fall in love? That was a little hard to believe for me. But don't get me wrong, I fell in love with Kyle too. Despite his being an assassin, he was just an overall good guy. My favorite scene between him and Val was when they went out for coffee:
I wanted to laugh. But my emotions were in so much of a whirl, I wasn’t sure if it would trigger tears or a titter. “Yes, he trusts me. He knows I’m dedicated to him and knows that coffee with another guy is only coffee with another guy.”
“Unless he makes you smile.”
I locked my jaw, resisting the sudden urge to look at him. Unless he makes you smile. “How would that change anything?” I asked, still facing the window.
“Then it’s more than coffee. It’s engaging body language. Your feelings talk. It becomes flirtatious because the thought crosses your mind that I’ve made you smile and you’ll wonder if I noticed and of course I’ve noticed. Then you’ll shy away because the guilt will pinch at your cheeks that you actually gave another guy who is not your boyfriend—who’s a complete stranger, in fact—the opportunity to draw an intimate emotion out of you. Not a laugh, not one of those annoying giggles… but an unpretentious smile, hidden behind your coffee mug. And that horrid attitude you have against me will slowly diminish.”
See what I mean? *Sighs*

Kyle's relationship with his family was also touching, especially with his niece Chrissy. However, his relationship with Rick...that got on my last nerve. Their innuendo and double entendre were funny in the beginning, but then it just became too much. Their friendship was also another relationship in this book that seemed to go from 0 to 100 super quick. And Val...I liked her, but sometimes she was just whiny and annoying and I just wanted to shake her, which was why I wasn't all that angry when Kyle

With that said, this was a good, solid read. The author's writing was very good and descriptive, especially during that scene. It's obvious the author has a way with words and can craft a story. But I wish there was more character development and a more natural relationship progression, which would've helped me to connect with the characters a little more and added depth to their relationship. Overall, I feel comfortable recommending this book.

*** I got this ARC for an honnest review on NetGalley***

[may contain spoilers]
The storyline was good. I didn’t’ knew the author, and I must say the writing is excellent.
We have suspense, romance, humor, lot of action and big surprises

What I liked the most:
- Kyle, being so… “Kyle”, we just can’t love him, he never gives up and he one he loves he does it for good.
- The Kyle/Val scenes, this back and forth, tension, those moments of sincerity and vulnerability, and the passion of course…
- The action.
- The “surprises”
What I didn’t like that much:
- I have to say my biggest issue was the whole professional assassin world, and I guess this is the major point which kept me with the 3 stars rating. I couldn’t totally let go with the whole storyline and characters’ behaviors
- The Kyle/Val progression in their feelings. At the beginning of the book it may felt a little quick…
- Val: I had a little hard time connecting with here. She’s a professional assassin, so she’s got to be cold, confident etc. but sometimes she has those “teenager moments”. I guess all this story is about her finding her real “herself”, opening to a different world apart from the only one she knew, different from all she’s been taught and trained all these years, that explains the immature hints we get from her sometimes and that she acts like a bitch too, especially with Kyle.
- I felt quite lost in the middle of all those crossed/mixed kill lists/gangs/ organizations/(true / false) enemies/targets. I got lost sometimes and… totally paranoid but I guess that what the author wanted, having us not trusting anyone in the end.
- Ending: I really wished Kyle and Val cut any connection with this professional assassin’s world, I would have love seeing them living a new life, far from it, for good.

STARS: 4
POV: Dual
SERIES: No
CH: No

Valerie and Kyle are assassins. Both great in their jobs, but not so great at following orders. When she’s assigned to kill Kyle, she studies him for a while, learning everything about her target until the time is right for her to make her move. The problem? She no longer wishes to go through with it; she has fallen in love with him. He is charming and loving with his family and this just adds to his appeal. Their paths keep crossing and Kyle begins to have an interest in her, still unaware of the predicament.

There were moments where I just scratched my head, like all the whining Val kept doing and Janet with her meddling. The fact that Val started as an assassin at such a young age was a little unbelievable to me. Kyle’s relationship with his niece Chrissy was one of the sweetest and best parts of the story. His relationship with Rick was beyond hilarious and their banter really kept me interested.

The plot is full of twists and WTF moments that keep it interesting. The characters are entertaining and well written, with different sides to them which add to the realness of their personalities. There were many moments where I wanted to smack Val and Kyle, but I was still rooting for them.

Your head will be spinning with all the news and developments. Not everyone is who they appear to be and some will definitely surprise you. The story is full of action and has moments of laughter, love, and even sadness. Murder, mayhem, twists and turns, psychological elements, deceit, romance…everything a good thriller needs.

I liked this book. It is different from what I have been reading lately. While there is some romance in the book there is also some mystery and suspense. It is a little bit hard to write this review because there is so much I want to say but I don't want to ruin anything for you.

Val is a little crazy. I totally understand why she is crazy, I couldn't live her life. She does a pretty good job of dealing with things as they come but unfortunately makes a few bad decisions that impacts a lot of lives. Kyle would be that almost perfect guy if it weren't for the fact that he is also a little insane. He has his life a little bit more together than Val but not by much. Both of them are living on borrowed time.

Both characters are assassins and while I want to love them, they are assassins! Val is a little whiny for me and Kyle a little too let me save everyone and everything but really I have no complaints on the characters. There are so many more characters that you meet in this book. There was one situation that I don't feel like was cleared up otherwise this books wraps up most loose ends. I have never looked into the assassin business but I am a little surprised at how young they are when they get started. This book has A LOT of stuff going on constantly. I enjoyed it but you definitely have to pay attention to who is doing what and when. It held my attention and was good enough that I did have a couple of dreams about it.

I am giving this book 4.4 stars out of 5. Go get it!!
