This is a story about Samantha, estranged form her parents, she finds a family in a group of friends (Neil, Daniel, Olivia and Heather) who love her and she loves them in return. She has it all, she is smart, beautiful, happy and surrounded by love. She is recovering from a break up with her long term boyfriend, last months haven't been easy on her but thanks to help from friends, she finally is strong and ready to move on. Everything in her life is good again, that is until a tragic car accident. After that, all goes wrong, there is string of choices to be made and somehow, every choice she makes, has consequences and make her lose her friends one by one, make her lose everything and everyone she has ever loved.

And then we have that ending, totally unexpected and kudos to author for that. I was shocked and it left me reeling, I needed to take a break and sleep on it to write this review.

It made me question the whole book and brought a new light on everything that happened. It made the book complete, because while reading you can't help but thinking where this all is leading to.

This is one of those books where I would like an alternative ending as a bonus or something like that. It doesn't mean I didn't like the one that was there, contrary, I found it very fitting in the end, but.... Yeah, but, I think I would like Samantha to choose different, I would like her to fight so she could make different choices given another chance. But hey, not my place to say how the book should be written, I am to read and enjoy, and I did, enormously so!

This book is not your typical romance, but it is about love, just different kind, not romantic one, but deep, heart warming and soul-wrenching, friendship kind of love. It is emotionally charged and full of unexpected, it kept me on my toes and made me shed a few tears along. One thing for sure, it will leave you gutted. And you need to be patient, because only after reading the whole thing and thinking on it for a while, you will get the whole picture.

If there is one thing I’ve learned by reading the prior four releases by this author, it is to simply expect the unexpected. Oh, yeah and be prepared to be emotionally gutted – because this author knows how to break you down completely. Seriously, like I can’t hear one of my favorite songs without crying and thinking about her last release, Lost. Utterly ruined in the most fabulous way. There is a reason why with each announcement of a release, I stop at the liquor store before I one-click.

In Choices we meet Samantha who is surrounded by friends that she adores and in turn adore her. Estranged for the most part from her parents, she finds her new family in the arms of Neil, Daniel, Olivia and Heather. Recovering from a recent break up with her boyfriend of over four years, Samantha is about to see just how important making the right choice is.

Screenshot_13

When a tragic accident occurs, Samantha’s entire life begins to unravel before her eyes. A series of reactionary events that quickly begins to destroy everything that she loves, that leaves her with the need to make a choice – a choice that has the power to change everything.

Screenshot_14

I discovered this author back in May of 2013 with her first release, I am Her and it was instant. I was in love. My head swirled and my insides felt like they were torn from my body as I experienced that book. I knew that this was the sort of author that had a unique voice, unique stories to be told. But also stories that required your patience to see the bigger picture. Some authors have a distinct voice, a style that carries over from book to book no matter the characters, but for Sarah’s books, the voices shift. They are the character. If the character is a little OCD or manic (or even a little crazy); it is there. It’s there in the way the character behaves, thinks and speaks. This is what I love about her writing most of all. I fall prey to these characters and often find myself so lost in the experience that every ounce of pain or joy they feel – I feel.

Screenshot_12

Choices felt slightly different than her prior releases but there was something very personal about my feelings towards this book in particular. These connections allowed me to sort of just soak in Samantha fully. Then we get to the end of the story and everything comes full circle and begins to make sense. And in an instant, the tears came. That moment when I realized what I had been reading and what I would have to read for the next handful of pages – the choice. I understood so much in that moment and I was devastated.

Choices showcased the relationship to how simple choices can not only alter your own life but affect those around you. The struggle that comes with those choices and ultimately how much someone is willing to sacrifice for those they love. Another emotionally charged read by Sarah Ann Walker that, although deviates from a standard romance, even a darker romance, but make no mistake that Choices was still a story about love.

Screenshot_24

I urge you to give this author a try. If you love a good unconventional romance that can be dark at times, you’d enjoy this author’s work. But be prepared to crawl inside the characters head and experience the book through their eyes, there is no other way to read one of her books. You have to let go and just have faith.

Title: Choices…
Author: Sarah Ann Walker
Rating: 5 STARS!
HEA:
“They're burying their only son today. So it's important for me to stay quiet in the back, paying my respects without anyone seeing me.
Why do people still care more about having sons? […]
Why does nobody ever say they're burying their only daughter? Why? Am I so useless? I wonder if that's why my mother is the way she is. Maybe because she didn't have a son to make her life valuable? I don't know. But I don’t think it’s fair. We’re special too.”

Sarah Ann Walker’s latest novel just blew. me. away.
I’m not kidding. This author took everything from me. EVERYTHING.
This story felt so real, so original, like coming up for fresh air after a very long time. It was well crafted, skillfully executed. I couldn’t stop reading even if I wanted to.
Truth is I’m a twisted person who likes reading about darkness and talking about darkness. This book was everything everything I could have hoped for.
Once upon a time a friend of mine asked me why I couldn’t enjoy a simple chick lit or YA like everyone else. Well, I love people who are honest about themselves. I love reading about honesty. Sarah Ann Walker writes honestly about darkness.
Yeah, it seems a riddle to me too. Forgive me. I’m still on cloud nine after this book.
AAAAnd where was I?
Yeah. Darkness.

This novel talks about an amazing woman, a pre-med student, surrounded by amazing people who support her choices and her career.
“Do you trust me, Neil?”
“With my life, Samantha. You're my soul.”

She has no real family, her mother failed her when she was barely legal, by doing the worst thing I’ve ever heard of.
Despite everything, Samantha is strong, beautiful and kind.

Her story kicks off the summer before her enrolling in Medical School, that precise moment where her future is about to start.
One night Samantha goes clubbing with her friends, she laughs, she dances, she breathes in, breathes out not knowing that that night will be her last. Or maybe not.
The accident will change everything and everyone, Samantha included. Permanently.
The last dance, the last laugh, the last drink… You just don’t know. Life is like friable sand, liable to be blasted away by the slightest wind of reality.

The heart breaking course of events Samantha experienced after her coma made me question my sanity, her sanity, her faults, where my moral compass lay.
Every word, every turn brought me to another twist and another twist and another twist until I couldn’t even discern what was right and what was not.
And when the truth was revealed, I was at a loss for words. I still am.

Sarah Ann Walker is a talented writer because she makes you question everything you thought was true. She writes novels like an artist makes an origami. She’s the magician who challenges you.
You’re the reader that has to uncover her tricks.

Her writing is flawless, terrific, poetic. It has always reminded me of the water. A river.
“I dance like my leg is completely healed, and I dance like Olivia is healthy.
We dance together; fun, spinning, grinding and laughing with each other. We dance until all we know is the thrill of the music, and the depth of our friendship surrounding us.”

I have no idea how much time I’ll need to process this story, the ending, this character.
Maybe a year.
Maybe a lifetime.
This novel will stay with me forever.
“I’m going to always remember dancing with you, Daniel. I’ll hold those memories with me always, wherever I end up.”

**** 4.5 Hurricane of Choices Stars ****

Well....this is a truly hard review for me.
This is my 3rd book by Sarah Ann Walker and I have to say, she has a magical way ripping your emotions and mind apart. How you think you should see and feel will be ripped to shreds.

 photo choices_zpshafnqbfa.jpg

Samantha is a young 24 year old woman with her whole life ahead of her. She is getting over her heart being broken with the help of her amazing friends. She has wonderful relationships with all of them, but especially true loves who just happen to be in love, Neil and Daniel. She is about to start med school and things are really good.

The story is set through the mind set of Samantha after she is hit by a car saving her friend Neil from being hit. As Samantha recovers from her near death ordeal, her life begins to go down paths she never saw coming. Her choices were effecting everyone in very drastically sad ways.

Every time she thinks her life is on track, something beyond her control happens, but the choice she makes is the cause for the sadness. She is not sure why these things keep happening but as the path she is on grows darker and darker, she only sees one common denominator, another man named Matt.

She is so attracted to Matt and wants him. Their connection is hot and undeniable, but there is just something not quite right when they are together.

As her broken mind starts putting things together, she learns that her choices alone are breaking the lives of the ones she loves to a point where she can't fix them, nor can they.

As you become attached to Samantha and her friends, the author takes this story to a whole new level. My mind is still coming to grasps with this one. I was heartbroken with the final choice made. I am still hoping that the ending of this story was a figment of my imagination, but on another level, it was the perfect ending.

Choices....such a though provoking book. My mind is literally still mush comprehending everything that happened.

Thank you once again Sarah Ann Walker...you definitely know how to scramble a persons thoughts and feelings.

“So you’ve made a choice?”

Well I sure hope you have and it’s definitely to read this book! Whenever I find out Sarah is putting out a new book, my belly gets tight with excitement, fear, anticipation, anxiousness and any other emotion that can weave itself inside. I just know that I’ll get the kind of story that I love. Dark, raw, gritty, a complete mindfuck and if I’m lucky…love. When I saw the blurb for Choices I knew I would be getting just this.

“Crying, I can't help but realize, nothing in life can destroy you faster than your own choices..."

Choices is about a woman named Samantha. She has just recently broken up with her cheating boyfriend. Her parents are barely around and not that you would want them to be. Her mother is an asshole and her father is just…there. She has a group of friends who are pretty awesome. You meet Neil, Daniel, Olivia who is one a kind and Heather who is a hot mess, but they are still the highlight of her life, especially her gays. I don’t think I have enough words to express to you how much I love Neil and Daniel. I literally wish I could put my hands into my Kindle, pull them out and keep them. Maybe even put them in my pocket so they could never leave me. But in true Sarah form life is never just hearts and butterflies. One day there’s a horrible accident and Samantha’s life will never be the same. It seems everywhere she turns she needs to make a choice and whether or not she chooses the right one is up to her.

“But we all know the reality now, the choices made, and the consequence suffered.”

Since I’ve read every book she has written, I know at some point she’s going to slap me in the face with the unexpected and I kept trying to figure out just what tale she weaving. I didn’t know who to trust, what was real, and just what the hell was going to happen!! So I kept on reading and then BAM! GAH!! I was all “WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED?!!! WHAT THE FUCK DID I JUST READ?!!” “ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW?” YUP! If you know me at all that means “I LOVE THIS BOOK & EVERYONE NEEDS TO STOP WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND READ IT RIGHT NOW!” Once again she has left me feeling completely gutted and I hate her for it…Ok I truly do LOVE her for it! When an author can completely affect you and make you forget that you’re supposed to be getting ready for your day, not sitting there in a daze over a book…then yes they know exactly what their words can do to you. And this is why Sarah is one of my favorite authors. So I beg you to stay far away from any spoilers or it will completely ruin the story for you. You need to go into this book blind and be prepared to enjoy the mindfuckery that is Sarah Ann Walker.

If you want an intense, roller coaster ride, that will play with your mind and your heart, then you definitely want to read Sarah Ann Walker's books! Choices is just her latest gem that had me boarding the roller coaster that is Sarah's mind, and taking the ride of a lifetime with her! Sarah asked me to read Choices for her, before it came out, and she asked me to be "brutal" with her, but as always, she was brutal with my heart, and that's why I love her!
In Choices, we meet Samantha and her close friends, and we learn that through Sam's choices, how they all will be affected by what she decides to ultimately do. Samantha is going through a breakup when the story begins, and her close group of friends are her "family." Samantha will learn, in time, that the choices she makes will not only affect her, but will drastically affect the lives of those important to her.
Soon after the story begins, Sam experiences a horrible accident, which will change her life and her world as she knows it...this is when she will make the most important choices, really, for everyone. It's then that we learn how the consequences of our choices, what we decide to do, can ultimately change the lives of the people we love.
As always, Sarah reaches right into our hearts and tugs at our souls...it's as if she knows exactly how to pull at the right strings and emotions. If I didn't cry when reading her books, then I would question what was wrong.
If you want a powerful, thought-provoking, intense, numbing read, please read this book...all I know is that some books stay with me, some books I remember for awhile after I am finished reading them, BUT Sarah's books, they remain with me ALWAYS!!

Crikey what a story this was. I can say for certain I wasn't prepared for that. For what? You ask. I'm not really sure lol I'm sitting here in awe of what the journey the author took me on. After reading another book by this author I didn't hesitate to jump right in and I literally sat and read it all in one lovely sunny afternoon.

I'm not gonna say anything about the storyline. This is a book that certainly doesn't need any spoilers. I will say my feelings towards Sam were mixed in parts of this. I found my heart bleeding for her and then all of a sudden wanting to shout at her.

Great twists that shocked me. It's an emotional, intense and thought provoking book. When I had finished this story I found myself sitting just thinking of the story.

As the title says it's all about CHOICES. The CHOICES we make can change everything.

I really do need to read more of this authors books. Brilliant.

Sarah's books are the type you try to out smart the author without ever succeeding. You can only judge what you've read once you see THE END because that's the most important moment in a Sarah book. You think you knew what you were in for but you were wrong. You may even pick up on clues and think you have it all figured out. Sure maybe some points you pat yourself on your back thinking 'Ha! I knew that' but when you get to the end you never, ever figure out the whole thing and still feel smacked in the face. That small part you figured out is like ESP when the characters picks a green shirt and you think it's green. It's a minute thing that when the overall picture comes into play- SHE STILL GOT YOU!!!

This book is proof that family isn't only by blood. Those special souls who you met by chance end up becoming your soul mate, your true family. Especially when said "real" family is not quite all there. I had my favorite characters. Those that outshined others. I loved that they were there for her. Like a rock. Just as true family should be. I love the dedication. The strength. The fun times. The absolutely-f*cked-up-crazy-times!

I feel just like that. Totally crazy. I get it. I agree with it. I see why the choices were made but heaven above I still feel crazy after a Sarah book....and I love it!!!!

Once again I'm wrecked!

You're lucky I love you Sarah!! All I can say is I absolutely love Sarah's writing style. There's definitely times during her stories that I'm like enough already with the crazy. But for me, in the end, that's what makes her books. You really need to hear all that crazy to appreciate the entire picture. Does that make sense? Probably not, but give me a break, I have just finished this heart wrenching book and I'm feeling a bit gutted. Well a lot gutted. Even if I get upset at the author for the ending, as I have in her last two books, she will always be my favorite because her stories stay with me forever. I feel like I've gone through the journey with her characters. And the best part is that I'm always shocked at the end. And again, whether I like the outcome or not, for me all these factors are what make a great story and a fabulous writer! Please, for the love of all that's holy give this author a try. Especially if you like a little dark and twisty rather than rainbows and butterflies every once in a while. I promise you won't be disappointed! <3

Make the right choice....

Choose to read Choices! Sarah Ann Walker stays true to form with her new novel. You will not be disappointed.

This time around, we have an intricately woven story of Samantha's life. Samantha's life is quite interesting. She is surrounded by some amazing friends who are really her family. Disappointment laces her relationship with her parents. She's much better off staying away from them. Samantha is strong and independent and has just left her long-term boyfriend, who is also a disappointment. It's time for Samantha to move forward with her life and we get to ride the emotional roller coaster with her and see where she's going.

I was overwhelmed with emotions while reading this book. I just could not, for the life of me, figure out where I was going next! Sarah has a way of bringing you into the book and keeping you locked in. You get a strong connection with the characters and you are right along with them in their lives. Everything about this book is unexpected. It will have you in a tailspin. I found myself going back a few times to make sure I knew what was happening!

I cannot sing enough praises about this book. It just tugs at your heart in every possible. This story will stick with you, it is surely not something that will be quickly forgotten.

Thank you, Sarah Ann Walker, for sharing another brilliant book. ❤️

Choices is about Samantha, who after having an accident is faced with choices she must make and their outcome. I loved everything about CHOICES from cover to cover. Sarah reels you into her world and just when your comfortable Sarah's twisted mind makes that turn so everything you thought you knew was not at all like it seemed. I don't usually get emotional when reading, but for some reason this story took me on an emotional journey from start to finish. Sarah's books just keep getting better and better.

Read my Full Review at A is for Alpha B is for Books

I can’t even begin to describe the roller coaster of emotions this book took me on. I went from laughing out loud to crying my eyes out and then every emotion in between, in the space of an hour, and then started all over again!!

This story is about Choices. The ones we make, and the ones that are made around us, and the ripple effect they have on all of our lives.

Samantha Newman loves her life. She has a long time boyfriend who she adores and a tightknit group of friends who love and support each other no matter what they are going through. Until one day she makes a choice, which causes her to have an accident that will irrevocably change all of their lives forever.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book when I first started reading it, but Sarah Ann Walker has taken - feel good, dark, twisted and heart breaking and combined them together to create a book that kept me intrigued from start to finish. The chemistry and emotions between the characters was well written, and I especially loved the light-hearted moments between Samantha and her gay best friend Neil. He is an absolute smart arse and god I loved it! I’d go as far as saying that most of the funny parts of this book were involving him and his no filter mouth.

There is so much more I want to say about this book, but I’d better not in case I give something away. But that was what I liked about it! This book wasn’t predictable in its plot. Just when I thought I knew what was going to happen, I got blindsided with something completely different. And the ending! I did not see coming at all!

So if you like a good, twisted read with some pretty hot (if not a little disturbing) sex scenes. Then I definitely recommend that you give Choices a read.

Sarah Ann Walker has yet to disappoint me in the two books that I have read of hers. Choices was absolutely no exception. When I started Choices I felt as if it was taking a little slow to get to the climax of the story. Choices focuses on a young Samantha - she has been jaded by her most recent lover, and is slowly coming out of her shell that really hindered her from getting out there, and enjoying life for what it was. Her friends; Neil, Daniel, Olivia, and Heather do their best to make her see that she has more self worth than she has been led to believe in the past.

Sadly, life always has a wicked way of turning the tables on those that feel they are getting ahead in their already shattered lives. When a tragic accident rocks Samantha's world she has to make some rather Earth shattering decisions that completely make this book what it is. The ending will have you wanting - no, begging for more because it is just heart wrenching. The choice doesn't even really hit you until the end of the book. There was absolutely no way that I even saw it coming. And I really enjoyed how Sarah brought everything into a full circle.

Choices was a beautifully written book that will really speak to the reader. I was not disappointed with Choices at all, and shed a few tears come the end of the book. Sarah brought Samantha, Olivia, Heather, Neil, and Daniel into a very realistic situation, and pulled them through it. There was not one moment that didn't have my sitting on the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, and look forward to anything that Sarah writes.

Sarah Ann Walker has a fan for life.

I honestly do not have words for this book. My good friend, Amy, has recommended Sarah Ann Walker for months and I actually have purchased a lot of her books, but this one is the first I have read, and for that I could kick myself.

The storyline is so unique. It really makes you think. Think about the choices you make and not only how they affect you, but others around you, especially your loved ones. You know the saying, For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction-Newton's Law? This book shows just how true those words are. Everything we do affects those around us, even when we don't think that it does. This book really makes you take a minute to look outward, as well as inward. The life of the party might be facing demons that no one knows about. The girl that has no issue putting herself out there might have insecurities so deep they eat her up.

I think each person in the story represented something different. It was a chance for Samantha to make a choice. I don't want to give too much away, but I will give you an example...Daniel. He is light. He is everything good. He is the moral compass that we all need in our life. Heather, for me, represented introspect. She is the the catalyst that brings everything to a head. This is the type of book that you read and get lost in. Just when you think it's going to go one way, it takes you someplace you never thought it would go. Sarah Ann Walker truly has a gift.

4.75 stars...ok, 5 stars. You're always in for a treat reading one of Sarah's books. You never know what you're in for but it's sure to be a twisted mind game. I love it! Yet again I didn't even come close to figuring this one out! At the end I was completely in shock. In no way, shape or form did I know how it was going to end. THAT'S what I love about her books! It's like a perfectly wrapped present. An awesome surprise when it's all revealed.

Having read all of her other books I think this was the best written. I didn't feel that it dragged anywhere, there wasn't any repetitiveness and I really liked all the characters.

I was originally knocking off .25 of a star Bc I wanted more of a romance story. (Yes, I'm still a bit hung up on "Lost") But ultimately this book still delivered the "what the heck is going on?" And "I bet I know how this is going to turn out"...to only be fooled, tricked, deceived and shocked, all the while being on the roller coaster ride that her books are. Again...I love reading a book that is original and not the same damn story done over and over.

Keep writing, Sarah! Looking forward to your next one! Hurry up! ;)

Sarah you have done it again. You have screwed with every emotion I have and some I didn't know were possible. I know it took me awhile to read this one but I am glad I waited until I was in a good place in my head because if I wasn't Wow I don't know if I could have finished it in one piece. Every book that you have done has me thinking WTF is going to happen next and then POW another emotion hits and the world stops on the page you are reading. I have never been able to put myself into a place where I am in the moment that I am reading and you continue to do this with every book you do. I can only imagine where you will take all your fans next. I am afraid, excited, nervous, and so much more. I am so proud of you and blessed to call you my friend. Thank you for screwing with my head and heart once again. Can't wait for the next one....Now I need to go and have a drink and sort out my emotions again.

This is the first book I have read by Sarah Ann Walker. I loved it. It is a story that I felt deep in my soul. It didn't take long before my heart went out to Sam. Situations in Sam's life are out of her control which cause her to hurt and feel deep. Her crew of friends...Neil, Daniel, Heather and Olivia...are her support. Her support that she loves more than anything. She cares for them as strongly as they care for her. A group of five people who live life's ups and downs together. Laughter, friendship and love is what this story is about. It isn't a story you just read. It is a story you feel. A story that you will sit and stare at the last page for awhile. Stare and wonder.......WHAT?! I loved it. I recommend it to all. Thank you, Sarah Ann Walker. I look forward to reading many more books from you.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

From the very beginning, I already loved the spunk and sass of these characters. As I got deeper into the story, I realized that Samantha has really come through some very difficult situations. I love the complexity that Walker writes with in her books. I also love how she can get in my head. During the scene following the accident, I felt like I was the one fading in and out of life. When Samantha is spending the night with Matt, the sex scene was uber hot. However, when she envisions him as a demon, I was terrified right along with her. Walker writes feelings and emotions with such intensity that it feels as if she is in my own head. I love that mental aspect of her books. When the ending twist came along, I was just about speechless. It really made the title of the book appropriate. I love Walker's books and cannot wait to read more!

Sarah you did it again! This book caught me right from the start, and kept me turning the pages. Although the darker parts were not what I normally read, I understand how appealing those parts are to your younger readers. Being over "50"+++, I still did enjoy Samantha and her circle of friends.
Keep writing Sarah, and I hope you are still loving it.
Love you, Carla

Wow.
Another great book from Sarah.
As always she doesn't disappoint.

I didn't expect the ending.
I didn't.

And for that I applaud Sarah.

Samantha has a choice to make.
A choice that will alter the lives of everyone around her.

Will she make the right one?

An excellent book, very emotional. However I knew how it was going to end because it is very similar to the film "stay" with Ewan McGregor and Ryan Gosling, one of my favourite films!!! But well done cause most people won't see it coming.

Another crazy, emotional read that will leave you feeling drained. This is a story about choices and how bad choices have horrible consequences.

BE AWARE: Depending on how you look at it, this book may not have a HEA.

You will love this book from beginning to end. It is brilliant, emotional, and twisted. Sarah never lets me down with her books.
Make the choice to get this book.
