‘Moment of Weakness’ is a unique story filled with amazing characters who will dig their way into your heart.
I absolutely fell in love with Julia and Roman. They both are complicated, deep characters who had losses in their lives. They are also very likable and easy to relate to. Their struggles and problems are real.
I loved getting to see their relationship evolve. Those two had a wonderful chemistry. It showed in every word and grew with every page. I truly enjoyed watching how they were with one another, how they followed their hearts and grew emotionally together.
I loved how Julia was with her father, how she worked through her fears and grief, how brave and strong she was. How she found it in her heart to forgive Roman and put her trust in him even after he made some mistakes. As for Roman… besides being totally swoon-worthy, he is the kind of character that keep you guessing, keeps you on your toes.
There were some very tender moments in this book and there were some light ones. ‘Moment of weakness’ explores themes of love and loss, grief and joy, selflessness, vengeance. Plus, suspense adds another layer to the story.
I was immersed in a journey from page one and kept flipping the pages quickly to find out what would happen next. I loved the author’s the style of writing and I also want to point out that I think the author did a spectacular job of ‘showing’ us everything instead of just telling. I felt like I was watching the story rather than read it.
I highly recommend this book and can't wait to read Roman's story!

How do you review a book you love so much? This book had EVERYTHING from mystery to betrayal to heartbreak to romance. Julia has what appears to be the perfect life. She's young, she's off to spend the summer in Europe, has the perfect boyfriend and she's wealthy. Sometimes, though what seems perfect on the outside isn't all that perfect. She finds her boyfriend having an affair with her friend. Her father is receiving death threats from someone and she's now assigned a bodyguard. In walks Roman and suddenly things get complicated. She realizes she hasn't dealt with her mother's death at all and more mysteries surround that. This book had plot twists I wasn't expecting but loved! If you're looking for a book that can fit into almost all genres, this is the book for you! It's KU but honestly, I'm buying my own copy to keep!

What I liked: Likable characters, loved the closeness between Julia and her dad; Roman was a good character whose life kept you wondering what he was hiding; good plot twist (I only figured out part of it in advance). Love the slow burn of the relationship

What I didn't like: story drug at times; would have liked more suspense to keep it moving but it tends to linger on the will they/won't they of Julia and Roman; would have liked to know a bit more about some of the side characters (lily, shane, theo, etc)

Plot twist! I did not see that coming. I really loved this book! I was reading as fast as I could so I could find out if Julia and Roman got together. I love a good suspense and this book kept me guessing the whole time.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed Moment of Weakness by Katie Fox.
The synopsis gives the impression of "just another rich girl who falls for her bodyguard"...but instead you get so much more!

I had trouble putting it down and it was one of those reads where you find yourself trying to sneak in a few pages in unconventional situations cause you just have to know what's happening next.

It's a great combination of romance and suspense. Julia and Roman's stories are so heartbreaking that you're rooting for them so much it almost feels like you can't stand the suspense! I LOVED Roman. I mean....ugh. why can't that be real life!?

I cannot wait for his POV.

Great read, highly recommend.

Moment of Weakness

This was a wonderful read. I haven't read a romance book where the woman falls for her security guard and I'm glad Katie's was my first. A joy to read. One thing I love doing as an author is making situations real. I enjoy as a reader too. The emotions, the power, and the whole plot of the book felt that it could really happen to someone. I look forward to reading more by Katie.

Wow where to start. I have fallen in love with Julia and Roman, completely.

After reading Beauty of a monster from Katie and Eleanor, I wanted to read one of Katie's books (as BOAM was incredible and I've read some of Eleanor's) I am so glad I did.

This book was incredible!!!

I guessed from the beginning that it was going to be a love story between a gorgeous girl and a beaut of a man, but gosh I was expecting everything inbetween.

I could really feel the connection growing between these two and all the hurt they had been through, I just wanted to knock their walls down for them, so that they could be together. I spent the whole time with an anxious stomach, because I just needed these two to just give in and be together.

I had sadness everything they fought their love and it was driving me crazy. Then when the plot changed, WOW I did NOT see that coming. The book got very climatic and I felt sick with worry about what was going to happen to the characters and I had tears welling up and I just couldn't contain myself. Was so thankful that I was home alone, as in telling my kindle 'no this isn't right, it can't be happening'.

I loved the ending and when I clicked my kindle off, I just sat there for a minute. Really trying to get my feelings and emotions in order and bring myself back to reality.

Katie is an incredible writer and her words really drag you into the books, that you actually forget that the characters aren't real, you just build strong feelings for them.

Can't wait to read the book from Romans prospective. :)

Really enjoyed Roman and Julia’s story. Julia’s mum dies when she’s only a child and it results in her closing her self off to people and not letting them get to close. She’s meant to be going away to Europe for the summer but catches her boyfriend in bed with her friend. So she goes home to her Dad and Theo, the only family she has left. Problem is that her Dad is being threatened again so he’s got her round the clock security to keep her safe. Roman isn’t what she expected from a security guard. He’s tall, young and sexy. There’s instant chemistry between them but they try to fight it until they can’t. There’s mystery, lies and loads of chemistry and feels in this book.

This was an enjoyable book, which created some interest in reading on. It's not like no one has ever had feelings for their 'help' but sometimes it's meant to be. There is some passion and some intrigue in this book, and overall I enjoyed the story. I like to see growth in characters and for stories to go places. It did that.

One of the most unputdownable books I've read in a long time! Just the right amount of chemistry and suspense between Julia and Roman. I loved how the overarching theme was that broken people can be made whole through love. A wonderful story of redemption and love, with a nice slow burn. Would definitely recommend!

Ready to spend her summer abroad, Julia is shocked to find her boyfriend cheating with her best friend sending all of her best laid plans into disarray. It is just par for the course for a girl functioning with half a heart. After losing her mother at a young age, Julia never really lets people in and even though her boyfriends actions make her angry, they don't break her heart.

A change in plans sends her to her fathers for the summer and into a messy dangerous situation. Threats to her fathers life mean Julia will be spending the summer with a bodyguard. The first time Julia sets her eyes on Roman, she is drawn to him but Roman is very standoffish and Julia finds herself wanting to dig in.

As the summer progresses, Julia finds herself opening her heart to Roman and hoping he will let her in. And when she finally does get in, will she be able to handle what she learns about him?

This book...wow! I was pulled in right from the first page and didn't want to put it down until the end. There are a lot of twists and turns, secrets and danger. Both the characters are very well written and it was a joy to read their story. My only complaint and the reason I am giving this a 4.5 instead of a 5 is I would have loved to get a dual POV and really get inside Romans head.

My thoughts:

POV Julia
Quick hook or slow starter? 5 (I was hooked from the first chapter)
Character development: 4.5
Level of Romance between characters: 4.5
Passion/Heat level: 5 (it takes a little while for these two to finally come together but once they finally do it is hot and passionate)
Angst/Heartbreak: 5 (very angsty but works well for the story)
Cliffhanger?: Nope, this is pretty much wrapped up in the end.

Overall, I loved it and can't wait to read more from this author.

I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Julia's summer is not going to go as she planned, not only is she not going to Europe, but she's now single, spending the summer at her family home, and she has to have security detail whenever she leaves the premises. There is a very real threat out there against her family, but she doesn't have time to dwell on it with thoughts of her late mother on her mind, catching up with her old friend Lacey, and the smoking hot security detail that is Roman. Julia and Roman try to stay away from one another, for more reasons that either know, but they're good for each other. They're changing each other for the better, but is getting to know one another actually helping or hurting them?

Julia is an emotional character, she hasn't completely dealt with her mom's death 13 years ago, she caught her boyfriend and friend messing around, and she's completely enamored by her new security detail. All of this makes for a really engaging story as is, but knowing there is a mystery surrounding it all made it even better. While Julia sometimes cried too much for me, I really felt for her, especially with the push and pull of her attraction to Roman, who just won't let her in. Roman is portrayed perfectly, getting to know him in short bursts helped me picture him and Katie Fox did a great job of writing this character. I was 100% blown away by the end of this novel, the mystery surrounding why there is security is so unexpected and revealed very well.

I think the romance was fairly predictable, but that's pretty much a given with most novels of this type. While it was done well, it moved quickly and I think some readers will think the sex scenes were rushed into by the main characters. I would have liked to see more character development for the minor characters, but overall really enjoyed the Julia and Roman story. I am really looking forward to Roman's POV and finding out more about him before he took this security detail.

**3.5 Fiery Hearts!**

*I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Julia's summer didn't go as planned. Instead of finding herself on vacation she found herself back home with her father and a private body guard. She wasn't new to having security around, but she was new to having one so hot he caused her mouth to dry up and her speech to evaporate.

"I couldn't just write off what we had because every moment spent with him was a moment that brought me back to life."

Roman was focused on his job, that is until everything got shuffled around and his priorities changed. Protecting Julia may not have been in his plan, but she became his sole mission. Her vulnerability, her wit, her beauty, everything about her drew him in and he was a goner the moment he laid eyes on her.

"I want to know what goes through your mind when you look at me-like the way you're looking at me right now."

It's not often a book can surprise me, because for the most part it's easy to see who the bad guy is even from the beginning, but this has one hell of a twist that completely caught me off guard. I'm pretty sure my mouth dropped to the floor.

Moment of Weakness is a mixture of sweetness and suspense. It's kind of an odd combination, but for Julia and Roman it works. The storyline is good, the characters are interesting, and the only thing I didn't really care for is the writing style itself. The paragraphs are very long and often randomly switch subjects in the middle of them. It felt a little disorienting at times.

My Favorite Moment: After all the events play out it's a father's love for his daughter and the simple words he bestows upon his daughter that mean the most.

Immature characters and an overall annoying book.

I couldn't get over how they supposedly were truly madly deeply in love despite having seen each other only a handful of times? And Christ, the male lead was supposedly a contract killer, yet about as immature about everything as a ten year old.

This made me laugh though:
“Yes, Dad.” I cut him off before he started creating his own names for it just like he had when we first had “the talk.” He couldn’t even say the word sex. He kept referring to it as “parking the hot rod in the garage.” Talk about an awkward conversation.

Loved it so much. This is a fantastic debut from this author and already I am chomping at the bit to read more. It is kinda hard to write a review for this book though cause it is one that you should go into completely spoiler free. What I can say though is that from beginning to end I didn't want to put this book down. Almost from the very first word I was gripped and had to know what happened next. Julia is a great character, she has flaws and is in no way perfect, if I'm honest there were a couple times I wanted to hit her but that just made it more real. She certainly had more than enough good qualities to redeem herself though. As for Roman, he was pretty much the typical alpha in a lot of ways but not so overbearing that it was off putting and he will surely be many ladies top book boyfriend in the very near future. This book was such a roller coaster at times, I laughed, I cried, I blocked out the world so I could find out what was happening next and at no point did I feel like there was unnecessary fillers, everything that happened and everyone you encountered served a purpose of some sort and each character played their part to perfection. I genuinely cannot wait to see what's to come in the future. I certainly haven't got this excited about a new author in a very long time and will be doing all I can to make sure as many people as possible discover these books so that she can keep writing. Things can only get better from here and with such a great start from the author she should be taking the writing world by storm in no time.

My Review: 4.5 out of 5 Stars

Amazing writing and storyline, definitely going to keep an eye out for other works by this author. This is a great book and a good read, I was up all night to finish it. Didn’t want to put it down!

Julia is a character who has had loss in her life. She lost someone she loves most at a young age along with, as she is convinced, her ability to love. It turns out all that may be needed to heal is the right person, but she would never have guessed that the right person would be so wrong. Roman tries to stay away, but as he struggles to maintain his distance to keep her safe, they both begin to change for the better. Julia isn’t the only one who has experienced loss and by opening themselves up they are able to help each other overcome the hurt that has plagued them for years.

Their chemistry was amazing and I was rooting for them the entire way through. There is also some mystery and suspense that added another layer of substance to the story which rounded it out very nicely. The only drawback for me was that it was a bit predictable, but the storyline overall was still original.

There are some more explicit scenes in this novel so I would recommend for 17+ readers. I would also recommend this book to anyone who enjoys good writing, character growth, romance, mystery, and more!

Read it and you won’t regret it!

I've picked up this book on KU and I've given it a five because the story was great, the book very very well written, and that I've read it in one go without a loo break. I just needed a bit more after each page!
Some expressions made me laugh out loud for an entire minute; actually I think I cried a little bit at "parking the hot rod in the garage." Seriously!
The tone is slow, sensual and... What's the word? Hot. You feel the tension, because the author is brilliant at describing the heroine's feelings...
Then, about seventy five percent in, the plot kicks into gears and put you on your ass! I think it might have been even better if that major conflict started sooner but ether way, great story; I'll definitely follow the author's work.

Ronan is gorgeous mysterious, charismatic and swoon worthy - definitely book boyfriend material there!

The dad persona is perfectly nailed; loving it! He's an authority who says how things are going to go but he still listen and is affectionate - a normal dad; it's important because of the kind of sweet "nothing bad has actually happened to me" sort of naive person Julia is; if he'd been colder, it wouldn't have worked.

That being said there is one point I would rate bellow the rest of her standard: the main character herself.
Thankfully it doesn't hinder the story or the quality of the book I just didn't take to Julia; she's definitely on the self centred side of the scale. Not enough to make her unbeatable though :)

This is the first book in the Embracing Moments series, and it is a really good book!

Julia Parker seems to have the perfect life. Family wealth? Check. Perfect boyfriend? Check. Plans to spend the summer traveling around Europe? Check. However, things aren't always what they seem to be. Julia has yet to deal with the painful loss of her mother and as a result she has built a fortress around her heart vowing to never "feel" again. She has no idea that arriving home from work early one night will change the entire course of her life.

After retreating to her childhood home to regroup for the summer, Julia learns that her father has been receiving death threats. As a result, he assigns her a personal body guard. While expecting a balding, overweight man, she is taken back when she meets Roman Hayes. They share an instant attraction that only grows stronger the more time that they spend together. However, Roman is keeping some deep, dark secrets. When those secrets are revealed, Julia must decide if she is willing to forgive him for his deception or move on for good.

As I stated earlier, this is a really good book. The story line is exciting, and the characters are great. Overall, this is a book that I would highly recommend!

Reviewed on behalf of 2 girls who love books blog

Moment of Weakness was a fantastic book.
Julia has it all. She comes from a rich family and has a handsome boyfriend. She is going on a trip to Europe with her boyfriend. She discovers her boyfriend and her best friend are having an affair. She decides to return home to her father instead of going on her trip. Returning home was probably the best decision she has ever made.

Julia is a very strong willed young lady. But her weakness is knowing her mother is no longer alive and desperately wants answers about her death. Upon returning home she learns of her father being in danger. He has hired extra security around the home and for Julia to have her own security detail.

She isn't expecting Roman. He is tall, handsome and extremely sexy. But something is off about him. He pulls her in and begins to push her away. He knows the truth of her mother's death. But is he willing to tell the truth and lose her or keep it under wraps. Soon he may not have the choice but to come forward.

Can she still love her after she has all the answers?

4 stars for a very well written book. MoW has some intense scenes and violence.
Loved this book and I fell in love with Roman.
He has had a rough life and overcomes some obstacles. He is a perfect character.

"It taught me to embrace life's moments. All of them. Every moment of your life is important."

**I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.**

I really enjoyed reading this New Adult novel, Moment of Weakness. It had romance, mystery, betrayal, and so much more! It kept my interest throughout and I really grew to like the characters. (Especially Roman... *swoon*) The characters' struggles were something that made sense. I didn't find myself yelling at them in my head for being completely and utterly stupid (which tends to happen in quite a few books). Towards the end of the book the author wrapped up everything that had happened. It was a nice touch in case the reader hadn't put it all together yet.

One of my favorite aspects of this book was the emotion. The author did a spectacular job of putting the emotion into the gestures and dialogue of the characters. As a reader, I had no problem understanding the emotions they felt throughout the story. One of my favorite lines from the book is, "'You own me. Completely f***ing own me. Do you understand?'" So much emotion in one line!

I'd recommend this book to any fan of the New Adult genre. I can't wait to read World of Darkness, Roman's story. I definitely haven't had enough of that man.

“I showed you every part of me! I let you in, Roman… I let you in, and I don’t know how to let you out!”

We all have moments of weakness, moments where we forget what we are supposed to be doing, where we forget what is right and just give in to our desires...

Julia and Roman try to fight against these desires. They try to tell themselves that what they have, what they share, is just a slip in concentration. They try to put it down to them taking their eye off the ball...

Katie Fox writes from the heart. With each scene that she describes, she pulls you in so that you can see and feel everything. All of her characters are perfectly developed (including the supporting cast) and, coupled with her ability to write witty and realistic dialogue, that means it is impossible to not relate to them.

The electricity between the two lust-filled protagonists will have you sighing, shouting, banging your fists on the table and generally falling in love with them.

Moment of Weakness perfectly showcases Katie's talent in writing and I urge you all to go and buy this book. With a well thought out plot that twists and turns, it is a real page turner that you will not want to put down.

A thoroughly deserved 5 stars from me. Well done Katie. I loved it!

I really liked this book! It has a really good flow!! It has everything thing you would want from a romance, strong main characters that are likeable have depth and are well rounded. Great supporting characters that u will also love too!! The relationships between all the characters felt genuine I specially loved the relationships between Julia, her dad and Theo!! I would love to hear Thoes story I found he so intriguing, there is definitely a story there!!
Julia is strong minded woman who knows what she want but finds herself in a bad situation, so emotions up in the air goes home for the summer.
Cue Roman who is Julia's new security detail. He his strong, hot and moody!
Or so we think at first, I felt like he didn't like the situation he was in, he had conflicting emotions from the start and struggled with them. But as the story unfolds I began thinking between the lines, there was a lot of what ifs and oh maybes! I definitely felt there was more at play than on the page, with the little bits here and there from Roman really has u thinking!!
These two left me feeling a little dizzy with all the back and forth but is was worth it in the end!!
Thank you Katie Fox for this fantastic book I can't wait to read more from you!!
