Candy Apple is a fresh, fun take on fiction for a new line of single titles with pep and pizzazz targeted at the solid middle-grade reader.
Twins Andie and Caitlin are best friends but they couldn't be more different. Andie loves sports and hanging out with her friends -- Caitlin is passionate about music and loves learning at school. Now that junior high is starting, the girls will finally get a chance to pave their own way. They can't wait! But when Caitlin discovers she'll have to pass a fitness test or spend every day after school doing gym, she fears her year is ruined before it even begins.
Jane B. Mason grew up in a large family in northern Minnesota. She has written books for kids of all ages under many names and on many subjects, among them ghosts, Jedi, detective duos, princesses, twins, mean girls, and slam books.
Jane has lived in the midwest and on both coasts, but appears to have settled in Oakland, California, and writes almost every day at either a friend's dining room table or a little studio in her back yard, where she has a purple loveseat, a whole lotta books, and an odd selection of trinkets she has unwittingly been collecting since she was a child.
Caitlin and Andie are excited to start junior high. They are identical twins on the outside but are different in their personalities and interests. Caitlin is an excellent student who has high hopes of being a part of the Jazz Ensemble group, while Andie would rather be on the field kicking the soccer ball.
Olive used to be a close friend of both girls until she went with Andie to soccer camp. Caitlin chose not to go and the other two girls became closer. Caitlin misses that and hopes that someday she and Olive can be best buddies again.
School starts off with a bang: Caitlin has to take a physical fitness test and just knows she won't be able to pass it. It would be a piece of cake for Andie, so just this once, why don't they trade places? It will just be for a day.... Or so the girls think!
The sisters soon realize they are caught in a big mess! Can they get out of it without anyone's feelings being hurt? How will Olive take the news that her best friend has been lying to her?
This is a fun, entertaining book. It kept me anxiously reading to find out who would realize the twins had switched places and what would happen next.
2 identical twin sisters who are either good at academics or sports. The 2 of them start a plan to switch places for one day to save each other in either what they are good at. The plan works really well for a day, and they start using it more often, which becomes out of hand!
I found it quite confusing, because each chapter they keep changing point of views of the 2 sisters, and I start losing track of what's going on! Other wise, it was pretty interesting and pretty good. Just a little confusing at time.
Of course, it's a book aimed toward younger readers. But I think it was one of the best out of the Candy Apple books!
It definitely keeps you reading and is easy to read because of the easy print. It also has some really funny lines in it too that keep you more entertained (:
i'd have to say the ending was EXTREMELY surprising. No spoilers here, you'd have to read it yourself but i absolutely loved the ending. This is probably my favorite Candy Apple book.
now I have a bad habit of picking a book up when I'm actually reading a book already but this was a short one and I wanted a nostalgia trip. I used to steal my sister's candy apple books all the time (I loved candy apple and rotten/sour apple books). my sister found this book on her bookshelf and let me borrow it, I hadn't read a candy apple book in a while and I didn't remember reading this one so I checked it out. it's a simple plot and a very wholesome and sweet book (like all of the candy apple books). I liked this one a lot it was written well and keeps you entertained throughout the whole book. I think if you gave this to a girl(or boy) in the late elementary/early middle school they'd have a great time.
I love, love, LOVE books about twin sister switches. It seemed like this book had a lot in common with Trading Faces (coincidence? Well…), but I loved it all the same!
If you've ever seen the movie Switching Goals, starring the Olsen twins, then you'd pretty much know the plot of this book. It's freakily alike. We have two twins, Andie and Caitlin. One is sporty, the other is girly. When the girly twin (Caitlin) has to pass a fitness test, they decide to switch places. It was only supposed to be a one-time thing but it just kept spiraling out of control! Read it to find out if they got it straightened out ;). I'd recommend this book to people who like "mixed up" drama. I wouldn't recommend this to people who don't like the simple stories.
I thought this book was unbelivabely lame! It's all about two twin sisters who are having problems in their own lives so they switch for a while, and no one knows the difference. But then (who could have guessed?) they start new problems in each others lives! If I could, I would be not marking this book 1 star - it would be zero. But there was something I could relate to in the story - having a sister!
I think it showed the true ups-and-downs to having a twin. It also sent a message to me that thing wont always turn out the way you plan, but they can still end up alright, just not the way you thought it would.
Caitlin and Andie were very relatable characters. I think i enjoyed Caitlin a tiny bit better because she messed up their "switch" the most! Haha.
Anyways, i liked it. And that's all i have to say(:
Andie and Caitlin are twin sisters. Andie is a very sporty type of girl. She plays soccer. On the other hand her twin sister Caitlin is the exact opposite she is the type of girl who likes to read but she has sense of fashion. Since they both have the same face and look exactly the same in every way expect their personality and what they wear they switched places. Caitlin did what Andie did and Andie did what Caitlin did.
I really did not appreciate this book for one reason .This book is like all the rest .The authors basically just copied common book idea .I have seen authors write books about twins being polar opposites and then having to become someone they are not .A horrible book by the authors because there was no originality .
Usually the candy apple books are nice reads, but really not that great, well this book exceeded my expectations and was the best candy apple book I have read. If you like soccer, like me, then you may enjoy this book. This book always had unexpected situations and I was never bored well reading it. This book wasn't amazing, but in terms of other candy apple books it was the best.
the sister switch is about two twins named allie and caitlin. allie is awesome at sport and caitlin has the brains.but when caitlin has a sports exam coming up she asked allie to take her place and pass.
I like Caitlin more. Andie should have confessed that she was Caitlin instead of trying out for the Jazz Ensemble for her. I'm a mix of both the personalities. It would have been cool if the had a second book continuing this.
two twins andie and caitlin are ready for junior high, but because of a fitness test caitlin's junior high live went upside down. her sister andie wanted to help, so.... she thought of an idea, the siter switch!
This book was very good because it had a lot of drama and it had alot of funny parts. I read the Accidental Cheerleader and I gave that book 5 big stars then I read the Sister Switch and I also gave that book 5 big stars. I m so glad that I read this hit book. I can't wait to read another one.
Now, I once said that Baby Sitting Wars was my favorite but when I saw this book i recalled it being the first Candy Apple book I read. IT WAS THE ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY my favorite!!!!!!!!!! I've always wanted a twin and I thought this book was so cute and the characters were relatable.
This book is A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!! The sad sad tale of to sisters waking up in each others bodies and having to live with there new reputation(p.s. spoiler alert- they both die!) JUST KIDDING!!!!!!!! This book is fun and surprising with a new thing lurking in every corner.
