Tanner Roarke knows his role.

Block shots. Drop the gloves. Protect the guys who actually score goals. And keep anything remotely personal as far away from the cameras as humanly possible.

Then his team wins on a shorthanded goal while Tanner’s stuck in the sin bin, and his over-the-top celebration with the ridiculously attractive penalty box attendant goes viral. Suddenly the entire hockey world is obsessed with Tanner and Milo Montgomery’s epic bromance.

Which would be great if they were actually friends.

Milo is more than happy to play along. As a former college hockey player, he knows the game, and as the openly pansexual black sheep of a family with two professional-athlete brothers, he knows what it’s like to never quite fit the role everyone expects. Besides, fake-best-friending a hot, grumpy defenseman for the cameras should be fun.

Except somewhere between staged hangouts, stupid friendship challenges, and spending way too much time together, the pretending stops feeling quite so pretend.

Now Tanner has two problems: he’s falling for Milo, and the cameras that brought them together are everywhere. Coming out was never part of the plan. Neither was wanting something badly enough to risk the career he’s fought his whole life to keep.

But some penalties might be worth taking.

Regina Kyle knew she was destined to be an author when she won a writing contest at age ten with a touching tale about a squirrel and a nut pie. By day, she writes dry legal briefs, representing the state in criminal appeals. At night, she writes steamy romance with heart and humor.

A lover of all things theatrical, Regina lives on the Connecticut coast with her husband, teenaged daughter and two melodramatic cats. When she’s not writing, she’s most likely singing, reading, cooking or watching bad reality television.
