“It’s because you’re you and I’m me that we want each other, Karla. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

“Hearts of Blue” is the fourth installment in the series and like its predecessors it can be read as a standalone. It is an opposite attract/forbidden story, one of my favorite kind of story, so needless to say I’ve been dying to get my hands on it. Once again, L.H. Cosway delivered an intriguing, addictive tale and once again the storytelling was simply fantastic. “Hearts of Blue” features two characters we met in the previous book in the series – Karla, a police constable and Lee, a charming thief.

“The world isn’t blue, isn’t lonely any more, and though I was supposed to be the thief, she was the one who stole my heart.”

Karla is Alexis’s (the female main character from the previous book in the series, “King of Hearts”) roommate and best friend. She loves working as a policewoman, because she loves helping people. She’s not trusting the system entirely, but she’s determined to make a difference. The fact that her father, a Police Superintendent doesn’t believe a woman can’t succeed in the police force motivates her to become one of the best.

Due to a hard childhood, Lee Cross had to grow up really fast. From the moment his parents abandoned him and his three brothers, he took an important role in their lives. In order to provide for them, Lee was forced into a life of crime. And later his brothers fallowed his steps. Lee is not so proud about his illegal activities, but he will do anything to offer his brothers everything they want, so needless to say family is everything for him.

Lee felt something for Karla from the moment he laid eyes in her. He knew what he wanted from the start – Karla in his bed and since their first encounter he tried to charm her pants off. Karla has strict morals and she also knows who Lee is and what he does for a living, so she can’t fathom why he bothers with her, a policewoman, 'the enemy'.

“One day, Karla, you’ll understand that me having my hands on you is never a bad thing.”

However, she can’t deny the strong attraction she feels for this sexy criminal. She knows Lee is bad news, so she tries hard to stay away from him and also to fight her tumultuous attraction she feels toward him, but is hard to do all that when the fate has other plans and she encounters this sexy bad boy everywhere she goes. The chemistry between them is sizzling, their attraction seems to grow, so they start something – dangerous, intense and in Karla’s opinion only temporary, because she can’t see a future with Lee.

”We were the same. Too stubborn and brave to know what was good for us, out on a mission to save everyone but ourselves.”

The story was fun to read, fast-paced and kept my interest from start to finish. While it wasn’t my favorite book in the series, I enjoyed it. It was sweet, sexy and fun, with a solid, unique I could say plot, with two endearing (for the most part) main characters and a cast of supportive character I’m dying to read about in the future.

Honestly the one who stole the show for me here was Lee. I loved him! He was yummy and his character was well developed from the beginning. He’s a good brother and despite his ‘job’ he’s a kind, noble man. He’s protective and supportive and let’s not forget the fact that he’s a great cook. One thing I loved about him is how cheeky he was at times..ok, most of the times. He simply was a fun character to read about. I loved how upfront he was with Karla about some aspects in their lives and also with his feelings for her. The man knew what he wanted from the start and he was determined to prove his love interest how good they are together despite the fact they are so different.

I still don’t know how to feel about Karla. She was a strong, smart heroine and I loved her determination and the fact that she has strong morals, but at times this fact annoyed the crap out of me. Why? Simply because I didn't want for her to have them. Numerous times she was so unsure about everything – how to act around Lee, how to feel about him etc. so she was really frustrating IMO . While Lee showed Karla how much he wants her, first in his bed and later for more, Karla was at times a little bit indifferent. It goes without saying I didn't like this fact.

I loved Lee and Karla encounters. Every interaction between them was fun and/or sexy and I loved them together. I enjoyed their slow burn romance, their sexy witty banter and of course the sexual innuendos. Their chemistry was well done, palpable and the sexy scenes were hot as hell. I loved the passion between these two.

Since I loved Lee so much, I really would have liked this story to be written in dual POV.

Overall, an enjoyable read!

This is going to be a quick review because I don’t feel inspired today.

This book started out really great but then around the middle the story started to drag too much and I became bored. A lot was happening, but nothing was really happening, if that makes any sense.

I liked the hero. He's funny, kind and hot. He’ll do anything to protect his family. He’s got a bit of a dirty mouth and he’s a real badass. I liked the heroine in the beginning, too. She was strong and funny but as the story progressed she became more and more annoying.

But Stu is my favorite character in this book and I can’t wait for his story.

I just love reading L.H. Cosway’s books and I can always count on having a full experience outside of the United States. I have yet to travel outside of the country and I just absorb all the slight differences I find. Not to mention, this author always delivers top notch stories and this one is no different my friends.

”This was going to end in disaster. We lived in two different worlds. And yet…”

Lee Cross, I'm sporting a huge crush on this hero. He is a cheeky (he he look at me) sexy, protective, amazing cook, badass criminal and he does parkour. He has been hit by cupid and can’t stay away from Constable (police officer) Karla Sheehan. These two remain on opposite sides of the law which prevents them from fully being together. Still, their attraction, interactions, chemistry and slips were hot as hell.

”You’re kind of incredible,” Lee whispered, his breath on my ear as he bent his head to speak. “You should come back to mine. We’ll go to bed. I’ll even let you keep your clothes on. I’ll hold you tight, and we’ll fall asleep.” He stopped a moment to see if he was convincing me, before continuing in a lower voice. It hit me right in the pit of my stomach. “Then we’ll wake up a little while later. You’ll be wet, I’ll be hard. I’ll peel off your clothes and slip into you and so easily, like I was always supposed to be there. Afterward I’ll cook and we’ll eat dinner in bed. By the time you’re full, you’ll want me in you again.”

description

Karla never sways or bends on which side of the law she stands on. She is very dedicated to justice and although her connection and attraction to Lee is strong her principles keep her from seeing a future with him.

”We were the same. Too stubborn and brave to know what was good for us, out on a mission to save everyone but ourselves.”

description

The Cross boys find themselves in hot water with the law. Things get hard on Lee and some big moves are made by all of the guys in the best interest of their family.

The whole Cross family were so interesting and alluring. All of Lee’s brothers and his cousin peaked my curiosity to read more about each one of them. Overall, L.H. Cosway delivers yet another enjoyable story of two people standing on opposite sides of the law.

OK, I have to be honest and say that this one missed the mark for me. I couldn't connect with either main character.

I love the cover ...

The thing I loved about previous L.H. Cosway books was the "lyrical prose" - it flowed, it seemed magical. I got none of that from this book.

"Mine," Lee grunted, his fingertips digging into my flesh.
"This is mine."

One of my problems is that in previous books I found Cosway's writing original. Not so with this one. I found she was turning into the fucking formuleric (is there even such a word?) shite that abounds out there. Too much sex - yes, in some stories it doesn't work. Hero that grunts "mine"! God, that one does me every time.

"God, look at you, still a fucking cop. always a fucking cop."

OK, I am not a Brit, but the term "cop" is more American, no? Would they not use the expression "the 'Old fucking Bill'" or something like that.

A few inconsistencies... they were stationed at a football game - at Upton Park, to see Arsenal and Spurs. Now I know my football very well so Upton Park is not a home ground to either of those teams.

Just do your homework. Please.

"Break the rules, Karla. Just this once."

Also

"Fuck, fuck, fuck."

Not her best. Please, stay true to yourself. You don't have to try to be like other authors out there.

WOW!!! It's hard to find words right now, I don't think the word LOVE even makes justice or can even describes how much I adored this novel. Karla handcuffed my senses and Lee stole my heart. Every character and every word in this novel was superb, everything simply worked perfectly to make a truly wonderful story.

Hearts of Blue is a very unique novel about how opposites attract; both main characters struggled with what's right and moral and what needs to be done in order to survive the harsh world. Will love be the magical answer?

 photo image_zpsn7uwrg9b.png

We first meet Karla and Lee in the book King Of Hearts. Karla is Alexis' best friend and roommate, and from that first interaction between Lee and Karla at the grocery store, I remember loving them together so much and hoping they got their own book. Imagine my bliss when I found out about Hearts Of Blue.

It was hard to imagine how the romance between a cop and a thief was going to work. But leave it to L.H Cosway to create a masterpiece where a love is so strong that it can right every wrong and make the crooked want to go straight.

 photo acb7fc73-39c1-485d-bdf7-ef7eaa8f2206_zps2pqxiuqu.png

Karla loves helping people and that is the main reason why she became a Police woman. She struggled from the beginning with Lee's advances because it didn't make sense to give into her desires. In her mind there's no way that they can ever be together. Especially since she's worked so hard to earn the respect of her colleagues in a career that is primarily dominated by men. Problem is, that Lee is very smart and charming and he really wants Karla. So he goes against his brothers, or any argument anybody could have about how they shouldn't be together and catches Karla so they can fall, together in love...

When Lee is with Karla she makes him want to be a better man and even believe there is a brighter future for someone like him. Someone who's had to fight his whole life to survive and provide for his family.

It's not easy, but when they finally decide to give their relationship a real try, they are forced to be together in the dark and away from all the judging eyes. Lee is showing Karla a whole new world she never knew about, where people have to make hard choices in order to survive and those with power always come on top, stepping over the least privileged.

They come from two different worlds and it will be a constant struggle for them to be together. Karla hates what Lee does for a living and even though she's now more understanding of him, she can't simply ignore how wrong what he and his brothers do is, no matter how noble.

Unfortunately soon she will find herself in the worst situation possible, one where she must choose between her career and her love.

Like always, in love, people hurt each other and this will also be the case for this couple. Will they be able to forgive their mistakes and trust that their love will be enough?

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU L.H COSWAY!!!!!! THIS ARC MADE MY DAY, YEAR!!!!!

Once again another book by L.H Cosway makes my Favorite Book Ever list. Her stories always speak to my heart and leave something special inside my soul.

Another reason why I love reading L.H Cosway's books is because like me, she loves music and always creates the most beautiful playlists to go with her stories. So make sure to check out her profile page on Spotify so you too can enjoy the amazing music she picked out for Hearts Of Blue.

Title: Hearts of Blue
Series: Can be read as a standalone
Author: L H Cosway
Release Date: November 19, 2015
Rating: 4.5 stars
Cliffhanger:. No
HEA:

It is no surprise Hearts of Blue was another winner for me. I am so in love with everything L. H Cosway has written so far that I am positive that if she wrote a book about a couple of monkeys living in a jungle, I would give at least four stars. Her style is so unique and her stories are so deep and well thought it is always an immense pleasure to be able to read her work.

Hearts of Blue captivated me from the beginning. It was thrilling, fast paced and very original. There wasn’t a single moment when the book slowed down, mostly because of the main characters - Karla and Lee, whom were kick ass, witty and adorable.

"The world isn't blue, isn't lonely any more, and though I was supposed to be the thief she was the one who stole my heart."

Lee Cross is a thief. For as long as he can remember he was involved in something illegal. Doing everything in his power to feed and take care of his brothers. Now, at twenty five he’s too deep in the business to stop. Lee’s also crushing on Karla Sheehan a Constable (police officer).
Karla’s complete opposite of mischievous ‘criminal’ Lee. While she’s chasing the bad guys, Lee seems to be one of them. But the more Lee tries to win her over, the more attracted she’s to him. He’s not exactly the man she’s thought he is.

“This was going to end in disaster. We lived in two different worlds. And yet…”

L.H Cosway pulled out the star-crossed lovers theme very well. It was ‘spicy’ but not overdone. I really admired her ability to not ruin the story with unnecessary drama. I was afraid the whole plot would be overly sexual and the romance would get lost in the middle of forbidden, dirty sex. Fortunately the author managed to balance sex with sweet love.

Karla and Lee’s story was very flirty and sexy. Definitely cute! The banter between the main couple as always was fantastic. The chemistry undeniably scorching. I was smiling and giggling like an idiot anxiously waiting for the MCs to get together and finally do IT. And when it happened I thought I would combust.

Hearts of Blue has a little bit different vibe than ‘King of Hearts’. It’s simpler, lighter, not as emotional or rollercoaster - ish. Which is not necessary a bad thing, I liked the change.

Okay, there were few moments when I missed the extra angst but overall it didn’t influence my enjoyment of the story. It still was gripping, alluring and had the ‘spark’.

What’s more, I loved not only the main characters but every other one. The secondary characters were a fabulous addition to the plot and I am already dying to see more of them. It was good to see Alexis and be able to get few answers and fill in few gaps from ‘King of Hearts’ as well as to meet whole Cross family. Those guys were making me dizzy.

Overall, The Heart Series is like a crack. Seriously dangerous for my mental wellbeing and sanity, yet there is no way in hell that I will ever stop myself from reading it. It just so good and oh just so so bad! It has the same influence on me as chocolate has on my butt. When I’m reading new addition to this series life is perfect, but the moment I finish I want to strangle someone! I always want more…

3.5 **cheeky** STARS

“We were the same. Too stubborn and brave to know what was good for us, out on a mission to save everyone but ourselves.”

I truly love Ms. Cosway's Hearts series, but unfortunately it isn't always possible to appreciate every single book in a series. She had a splendid run so far, but this instalment had its ups and down for me. Don't get me wrong I had a good time reading, but I have some issues. Let’s talk….

Hearts of Blue is a story about a police constable and a thief. The premise alone made my heart go all jumpy. From the first time I met Lee and Karla in King of Hearts I was excited to find out more. Especially what it was Lee whispered into her ears. I loved the idea of the book and in a lot of ways it delivered what I had hoped, but some things didn't live up to my expectations.

Karla Sheehan is a policewoman, Alexis' best friend and roommate. She first came into contact with the Cross brothers through said best friend and one fine day she also ran into the most notable of the brothers, Lee Cross. He is a cheeky, smoking hot, up-to-no-good smooth talker. Their chemistry was off the charts right way and who could blame the girl for crushing on the bad boy. So yes, of course I was excited to see what was possible between them. And let me tell you it was hot and ill advised, but delicious nevertheless.

Long story short, it's complicated for obvious reasons. She works to uphold the law and he doesn't mind breaking it.

The thing that absolutely made the book for me was Lee as well as his brothers. Brilliant characters, wonderfully written and fleshed out. They made me laugh, swoon and once the smooth talking turns into dirty talking I'm always a gonner. Very much looking forward to see more of Stu, Liam and Trevor in the future.

Now, my biggest issue would be Karla herself. In some regards she was a great character - tough as nails cop, but I was missing a certain spark and then there were times when I thought for all her kick ass fighting skills she rolled over far too easy. I have a hard time putting my finger on it, but I never really connected with her. Which is a problem when the book is written from her POV. Maybe it was the magic that was missing, but Karla was not my favourite heroine. Fortunately for us, when she was with Lee he managed to bring out the best things in her, by seducing her into submission.

As always the writing was excellent and the story engaging, albeit a bit too drawn out in some places, the Cross brothers alone make this a worthy read and I'm sure a lot of people will like Karla well enough. ;D

’How could someone be both kind and cruel?’
If you’re a lover of forbidden romance than this book is for you. I love a good forbidden romance and the majority, that I’ve read, have been teacher/student so to have a cop and a bad boy forbidden romance was a nice change of pace. And not only that but the cop was a woman which isn’t a common thing in the romance books I’ve read.

”We have nothing. We’re just a bunch of kids nobody gives a shit about.”
Lee and his siblings had a rough upbringing which leads them to do things that are questionable in the name of survival. Yet, he’s a very loyal man who puts family first. Underneath his tough guy exterior he’s a lover. Seriously, what woman wouldn’t want that?!

”Lee, you’re too young for me.” “Karla, I’m perfect for you.”
Awe, the younger guy with the “older” woman romance. Another theme I don’t see very often in my romance books. Granted it’s only 3 years so it’s not a major age gap but in Karla’s mind she might as well have been his older sister for how she felt about being older than him. I loved how Lee didn’t allow her to worry about the age gap.

”I love that about you.” “What?”
When Lee spoke to Karla it was hard to focus on anything else going on around them because he really was a smooth talker. In one scene I totally forgot they were in a crowded bar because his words had me wanting to ravish him right there. Oh, by the way, Lee’s answer to Karla’s “What?” is, “How you act all tough, but as soon as I touch you, you melt and go all shy. It’s gorgeous.” *swoon*

I’ve read all of Ms. Cosway’s romance books except for one of her earlier romances so I think it’s safe to say she made me a lifetime fan of hers. If you need a good romance book look no further than Ms. Cosway's variety of unique tales.

Hearts of Blue is a standalone contemporary romance that tells the story of star-crossed lovers Karla Sheehan and Lee Cross, a police constable and the thief who steals her heart.

The Hearts series is one of my favourite contemporary romance series out there and Hearts of Blue is a fan-frickin-tastic addition. I've just finished the book and all I can think about is Lee Cross. While this is a Romeo & Juliet style love story (epic and full of the feels in other words), Lee Cross is a bit of a Robin Hood character. A sexy as sin, tattooed, mischievous, charming rogue of a Robin Hood. There is just no other word for him but 'yum.' Yum. Yum. Yum.
Yum.
And while I'm mentioning yum did I mention the gorgeous bad boy can cook? Because he can!
There's no hope, dear readers. You will fall for Lee Cross whether it's right or wrong.

Best of all with Hearts of Blue, as with all of LH Cosway's novels, is the character development and chemistry. Karla and Lee are real, their issues are real, and the obstacles in their way are very definitely real. But so is their chemistry. And even handcuffs can't keep chemistry locked down for long ;)

Title: Hearts of Blue
Series: Hearts #4
Author: L.H. Cosway
Release date: November 19, 2015
Cliffhanger: No
HEA

To say I was excited about reading this book is an understatement. This series has become so addictive to me, I just can't get enough. With every book I feel as if the characters just keep getting better and better. When you pick up an L.H. Cosway book, you know you're going to find not only quirky and charismatic characters, but you can depend on getting an untraditional story. And that's why I love her books so much. You don't get trite or predictable, it's what makes her books special and incredibly well written. Time and again, she comes up with couples that are such an unlikely pair, she weaves her words around them, and finds a way to make you feel as if they were made for one another-true soul mates. I admire that about her as an author, it takes true ingenuity and creativity to accomplish that.

In Hearts of Blue, we have one of the most unusual couples I could imagine. A policewoman and a criminal. It seems as if these two would have zero hope of making a connection and keeping it long term. Let me set you straight on that, as long as Lee is one half of the equation anything is possible. What a cheeky, sexy little devil he is. I don't think anyone could resist his flirty come-ons. Poor Karla never stood a chance.

There were so many things I loved about Lee. Beneath his tough exterior was a heart of gold. Yes, he is that bad boy criminal you're expecting, but he's also unexpected in so many ways. His love for his brothers and the sacrifices he's willing to make for them is boundless. Nothing means more to him than protecting the ones he loves. Where some of his misplaced ideals have been formed from the rough existence he's been forced into since childhood, he also knows what is most important in life. Family. Love. Appreciating the little things. He became a father figure to his brothers even though he wasn't the oldest, he's the one everyone looks to for guidance-he's the problem solver and teacher. He passed on the skill of parkour-the skill of urban running and jumping across buildings-almost like spiderman. I loved that about the story, it was one of my favorite things about the brothers.

Karla is a woman of strict morals who uses her career in the law to protect the innocent, the people of the world who so sorely need the help that are neglected and abused.

I took my job seriously. And I only had to take one look at Lee Cross to know that he didn't live on the same side of the law as I did.

I loved that part of her, but also that she had a bit of a rebellious side to her. She isn't afraid to push the boundaries with her strict and uncaring father and that fire in her is one thing that makes her pair with Lee so nicely. And it's her desire to help the helpless that calls to Lee as well. As he is one of those who have been trodden on by society and given a poor situation in life, he's awed by her giving nature. And though she tried her hardest to stay away from him, the temptation proved to be something she couldn't ignore for long.

What else did I appreciate about Hearts of Blue? I liked the fact that Lee never once doubted his desire and feelings for Karla. From the very beginning, he knew what he wanted, and there was no stopping him from going after what he wanted most.

"If I wasn't me and you weren't you, I'd go home with you in a heartbeat. You know that, right?" I told him quietly. For a second he glanced away, then bent his head to reply, his voice husky, "It's because you're you and I'm me that we want each other, Karla. And I wouldn't want it any other way."

His pursuit of her was exciting and enjoyable to watch. What I didn't like so much was Karla's insistence in pushing him away. This was my main reason for detracting a star from my rating. Their relationship started to become more of a cycle rather than a naturally progressing one. There was the flirting, the caving to their emotions, and then her pushing him away out of fear. I totally understand what was behind her uncertainty. But after a certain point, I felt as if she needed to put some trust in him in order for the story to move along.

I loved meeting all of the new fantastic characters and getting the lead in to the following book. As usual, I'm extremely impatient to get my hands on the next book. L.H. Cosway's stellar finesse and skill in creating amazing characters and a story with plenty of heart really shines brightly in Hearts of Blue. All in all, I was very happy with the newest installment to the series. It's a wonderful story of finding love in the most unlikely of places and having the courage to grab onto it with everything you have, consequences be damned.

4 STARS! ★★★★

"Break the rules, Karla. Just this once."

Everytime I pick up a LH Cosway book, I just know that I can expect something different each time. Reading her stories is just as good as living through her characters' lives and I find myself easily whisked away into their world. With endearing flawed characters and a pair of star-crossed lovers taking center stage, LH Cosway delivers yet another stunning read that will leave your heart pounding.

Karla Sheehan and Lee Cross are two people leading very different lives; one who upholds the law while the other breaks it. Right off the bat from their first interaction, there was just no denying the sparks between them. Lee is a sexy flirt that can be intense at times but yet he also has this sweet, protective side of him. It's no surprise that a strong heroine like Karla would be tempted by this incorrigible sexy man!

A huge crux of the story will have the readers experiencing the ins and outs of the police scene where Karla always find herself crossing paths with the Cross brothers. The romance is a slow burn but the sizzling chemistry was always present when Karla and Lee are in close proximity. The atmosphere surrounding this read can be quite intense at times because all those hidden glances and sexual tension were just begging to explode already.

What I really loved about this read (and in every LH Cosway read) is simply her characters. There wasn't anything extravagant about the plotline but it was her imperfect characters and their dynamics that stole the show for me here. Karla and Lee may be two people who share different beliefs about the world they live in but when they're together, they've allowed each other to view it a little differently. There's always more beyond the black and white of the world.

Admittedly I wasn't too sure where the story was heading in during the first half but the second half of the read got me back on the saddle which I really enjoyed. LH Cosway delivers yet another captivating read with Hearts of Blue that is filled with alluring characters which you can't resist falling in love with. The Cross brothers surely stole my attention already and I can't wait to get their stories next!

I really enjoyed this. When I find a hero like Lee everything else fades in the background. So the heroine was a tad annoying the way she judges people and I would have liked more of a story. And someone special didn't make an appearance *sobs* But gah Lee was sooo swoony.

"The name's Lee. Lee Cross."

What made this book special to me was the London backdrop, some of the locations are literally down the road to me. And is it me or has Cosway added more smut in this instalment? Not that I'm complaining. Overall a good read.

“Break the rules, Karla. Just this once.”

4.5 star-crossed stars

I loved this book! Ever since Karla and Lee were introduced in the last book of this series – King of Hearts – I’ve been eagerly anticipating their story, and it was everything that I was hoping for.

You don’t need to have read the previous books in this series in order to enjoy this one, but be aware that it takes place during the time lapse that appears in King, and Alexis does appear, so there are some spoilers for that story in this book. If you don’t plan on reading King (shame on you! It’s a phenomenal book), this can easily be read as a standalone.

28 year old Karla is the best friend of Alexis from King. She is tough and feisty and is devoted to her career as a police officer. Her unsupportive father is Police Superintendent and makes his disdain of women in the police force clear, so that just gives her extra incentive to work hard and make her mark.

Lee Cross is one of four brothers who live on the shady side of the law. Deserted by their parents, Lee was the one who stepped up to take care of his brothers as a teenager and they were forced into a life of crime in order to get by. Now 25, Lee is still taking care of his brothers, and though he has a heart of gold, their business interests aren’t exactly legal.

From the moment that Lee laid eyes on Karla in King, she sparked his interest. He wanted her, and he didn’t hide that fact. Now it’s some weeks later and we see that Karla is just as affected by the gorgeous bad boy.

It’s a fantastic set up – two people who are incredibly attracted to each other, but whose lives couldn’t be any more mismatched. Karla doesn’t know the details but she knows Lee and his family are trouble, and her strong sense of right and wrong means that she can never accept his lifestyle so she tries hard to stay away from him. But they keep running into each other and every time they do, Lee can’t help but push her.

“Take your hands off me right now or I’ll arrest you,” I ordered, my tone harsh.
Seconds passed, like he was deliberating over what to do. Then he released me, but not before delivering a final statement. “One day, Karla, you’ll understand that me having my hands on you is never a bad thing.”

OMG I love Lee! You know that he’s a sweetheart, but he’s got this over-confident, cheeky vibe about him and a wicked sense of humour. He’s so upfront about his feelings for Karla and he holds nothing back from her, putting himself out there again and again and fighting hard to get his girl.

“No one’s playing games. I like you a whole hell of a lot, Karla. I’ve told you that already, so stop trying to convince yourself otherwise”
All the air left me when he moved forward, backing me into the door and cupping my face in his hands, his gaze reverent. “Give me a chance, and I’ll prove to you that everything you think you see is blurred by perception.”

The chemistry between these two is absolutely electric and the UST builds brilliantly as each encounter brings them closer and closer to the inevitable.

“If I wasn’t me and you weren’t you, I’d go home with you in a heartbeat. You know that, right?” I told him quietly.
For a second he glanced away, then bent his head to reply, his voice husky, “It’s because you’re you and I’m me that we want each other, Karla. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.” Before I could stop him his mouth dipped to mine, and he laid a soft, lingering kiss on my lips.

Karla may try to fight her feelings, but she’s open with Lee about her attraction to him and I love that there is no game playing or stupid behaviour. They both know where each other stands, they acknowledge the barriers standing in their way, but ultimately their feelings for each other are too strong to ignore. Their coming together is seriously hot, but very strongly driven by emotion and they are amazing together.

“I just really, really like you. I like the things you do to me, and I don’t want to lose them.”
Feeling his jaw move, I thought he might be smiling. “If it’s any consolation, I really like the things I do to you, too. Actually, I fucking love them. And you won’t lose me, so long as you make the choice to be with me.”

“You make me feel so fucking alive … Made for me.”

The story is written in dual POV and I love that we get to be up close and personal with both of them as they battle their differences while trying to create an actual relationship. The struggle is beautifully written .

Being with him made everything else in my life a lie, and yet, the idea of being without him made everything seem empty and grey. So I was trapped in the lie. In fact, I’d walked right into it willingly with both eyes open.

Throughout the story it’s not really clear what Lee and his brothers are into, but the two worlds eventually collide when the law closes in and the chain of events and inevitable fall out are brilliantly handled. Emotions are running high and I could feel everything that the characters were going through. My heart ached for them as I tried to figure out how it could all possibly work out, but it all plays out perfectly in a way that was realistic and left me with a huge smile on my face.

I loved this book. Lee and Karla are perfect as the star-crossed lovers, and the mix of humour, romance and drama is balanced perfectly to give us a wonderful story that never gets too heavy or angsty. I really love the inclusion of Lee’s brothers, they’re such a great bunch – a little bit bad, but also funny, sweet and big-hearted with an incredibly strong sense of loyalty. I’m so excited that LH Cosway is continuing the series with stories for them, I can’t wait for more.

Do you know how excited I was to read this? After reading King of Hearts, which is one of my all time favourite books, I was beyond ecstatic to learn that East London bad boy Lee Cross was to get his own book, and not only that but his love interest was to be PC Karla Sheehan - A copper! Yes that's right, A copper, but I'll get to that later.

I know a lot about the boys in blue, as I grew up addicted to a tele program called 'The Bill' which followed the lives and exciting times of a bunch of Metropolitan Police officers, and it was a highly popular show, but anyway I am digressing.

Karla is a police constable, daughter of ruthless Superintendent Sheehan, she is trying to prove herself, not only as woman in a man's world, but as a PC worthy on her own merits. She takes her job very seriously and so she should.

When Lee was a teenager, his mum having just passed away, he was left living on a rough council estate, with no money, three brothers and a cousin to feed. He finds a way to do what he can in order to survive and even if that means being on the wrong side of the law, he doesn't know an other way.

When these two come together, it's explosive and I loved every single interaction that they had. Lee was a quite bit of a swoony hero and I loved the way he looked after those he cared about with everything he had.

Karla was an interesting enough character but I would have liked her to be bit more desperate in her need and want for Lee, she seemed a bit indifferent at times, I know if that were me I would have been pining!

The forbidden factor was very believable which makes for a great read; how can Karla in good conscious get involved with someone who is involved with a man who sells stolen cut and shut cars for a living?

It was definitely a slow burn romance, which I definitely prefer and the usual captivating writing that I have come to expect from LH Cosway was present in this book. I loved the characters and the setting and the familiarity of the culture. For me, the authenticity of it was 90% spot on, and I understand how hard it must be for an author to write about a place that isn't in their home country, so I have a lot of respect for the author for taking a risk like this.

I must admit to you, in all honesty, the use of the term 'cop' bothered me from the beginning, probably me being a picky cow, but you know what it's like when you get something in your head, you can't seem to let it go. It really distracted me from the story and it felt almost American in places, I even said it in my head in an American accent. I have to say I am surprised because King of Hearts felt so extremely 'London', the feel of it was very different.

That probably won't bother a lot of people though, it's just have I lived in London all my 39 years and have only ever referred the police as either coppers, old bill, the fuzz, the five-o or pigs.

I am still peeing my pants with excitement at the knowledge that there will be a book about the other Cross brothers, but please, please make them authentic. I love a cheeky chappie cockney, after all I did marry one.

Overall, I thought it was an enjoyable read, but just slightly lacking the magical feeling of the previous Hearts stories.

This is a standalone contemporary romance, told in Karla's POV. Also part of an ongoing series.

Gorgeous. Magnetic. Exciting. Captivating. Witty. Sexy. A must read for any romance enthusiast.
“I want to be the only thief you chase after.”

I'm going to have a hard time tamping down all wonderful adjectives I'd like to put to this book. So while I get a hold of myself, I’m also going to change my usual review format. Instead of giving my version of the book’s synopsis I’m going to copy the author’s blurb because I don’t think I could do it justice.
She upholds the law. He breaks it.
Two blue hearts, both alike in bravery
In not-so-fair London, where we lay our scene
From gun crime to petty theft
Where family is blood and survival makes hands unclean
In this place, we find two hearts who should be foes
And yet, amidst the turmoil their love still grows
Misadventure abounds and the divide will bring them strife
But with luck, death doesn’t always mean an end to life.

Ok, so a bit more info before I go on with what I loved the most about this book. Hearts of Blue is the almost impossible story about police constable Karla Sheehan and car thief Lee Cross. It’s told from Karla’s point of view and has the perfect mix of flirty banter, sweet tender moments, and incredibly hot sexiness. It’s a beautiful story of how two people helped each other view the world with color instead of only black and white.
“Sometimes the innocent ones are guilty only because the world didn’t give them a chance to stay innocent.”

I was absorbed from the very start with its heart breaking prologue to the very last page with the sweet, heart-warming ending. I could barely put it down to eat and sleep.
“I don’t think us training together would be a good idea.”
“Yeah, you’re right. All those hormones and sweat flying around, who know what might happen.”

It’s no secret I love strong heroines. I really enjoyed that Karla could be hard and strong when it came to her job, but also soft and almost shy when it came to Lee. I felt so much for her because of the blows life had given her, but I admired that fact that she was so selfless and giving, becoming a police officer to help others. And with Lee, I loved how her black and white view of life she came to realize that it could be seen through different color filters.

Lee was perfect. He’s an incorrigible flirt, sweet and intense, with an answer for everything. I completely understood how he became a thief, but still valued such things as family and loyalty, and how through Karla’s eyes he found that he too could see the world differently. I adored how he was so protective of the people he valued and I thoroughly enjoyed how much he enjoyed cooking, it was incredibly sexy. And I haven’t even mentioned his mad skills at free running.
“Give me a chance, and I’ll prove to you that everything you think you see is blurred by perception.”

The dynamic between Karla and Lee is fantastic every step of the way. I enjoyed every single time Karla had to be exert her authority over Lee and how he constantly tempted her. The sexual tension snaps, crackles and pops right out the pages. I loved how their impossible situation enhanced their feelings for each other. And even though I knew they would have a happy ending, I really couldn’t figure it out and so I loved the bittersweet the twist at the end.
“Any excuse to slap a pair of cuffs on me, eh? If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you were something of a fledgling dominatrix,” Lee joked before leaning in close to whisper. “But we both know that’s not true.”

The Cross brother’s family dynamic and delightful secondary characters is another wonderful component and staple in L.H.’s books. She creates awesome multi-dimensional characters I want to get to know. And even though I was completely charmed by Trevor, one of Lee’s younger brothers, who threatened to steal the show a few times, I would really like to read about Stu next. His book can’t come fast enough.

Finally, L.H. doesn’t just write good characters with interesting plot lines. She has a way of making you part of the story, almost as if you could see Karla chasing down a criminal or Lee doing parkour trick. I could practically smell Lee’s delectable cooking and feel how their hearts ached and soared.
“Hurting with you is better than a painless life without you.”

Every time I satisfyingly close another of L.H. Cosway’s books I think “this is my favorite, I can’t imagine loving one more than this one.” And then I open up her next one and it blows me away. So I declare the entire Hearts series has a prominent spot on my favorite list.

Their story took place in London Town,
the copper and the lovable clown.
With a charm more than arresting,
her limits she found him testing.
His banter broke through her defences,
his lifestyle brokered many offences.
Walking the thin blue line of the law,
Lee Cross her only flaw.
A story of star-crossed lovers,
scorching above and under the covers.
With L.H. Cosway’s Heart of Blue,
my love for this series remains true.

4 - "If I wasn't me and you weren't you..." Stars!

The one thing you can always be guaranteed of when you read a book by L. H. Cosway, is that you will be thoroughly entertained, and are likely to fall in love with the characters and their story line as the books progress.

Hearts of Blue gives us the story between Lee Cross and Karla Sheehan, both of whom we were introduced to in the previous book in the series King of Hearts. This is a pair that couldn’t really come from any further ends of the scale. Police Officer and Criminal.

”You’re too young for me…”
“I’m perfect for you.”

One thing I love about this authors writing is that she never just takes a standard trope and runs with it, there is always something just a little bit different that makes everything stand out, black and white becomes a colorful spectrum, and what may be lost in shades of grey is vibrant and eye-catching.

Oh, Snap, what are we gonna do?”

The same can be said for this book, as you would expect the path of this couple’s relationship is very much filled with obstacles and issues, what with Lee’s family being heavily embroiled in the criminal underworld of London, the untenable position this puts Karla in as they grow closer and their relationship develops is really well handled.

The author doesn’t glamorize this aspect of the book, and I really felt for her and Lee, because you know that they are both in situations that aren’t wholly of their own making and just trying to make the best of things while keeping the collateral damage to their loved ones at the absolute minimum.

”I look at you, I see a little piece of myself, but braver. That’s why I like you.”

I will be honest and say there are two aspects of this book that didn’t 100% gel for me this time, its didn’t have a massive impact on my reading enjoyment, but they were niggles nonetheless and that is a first for me, with this author.

We are stronger in the places that we’ve been broken. ~ Hemingway

Karla Sheehan was a difficult character to wholly empathize with, I can’t 100% put my finger on why I felt this way, but to say that I did find some of her reactions and decisions questionable on certain matters as the book progressed. There was a lot of internal monologue about not being with Lee, but it felt that after each lengthy mental dissection of the pro’s and con’s she just went and did it anyway.

”Hurting with you is better than a painless life without you.”

My other niggle, and this may sound weird, is that this book is the first one I have read by L. H. Cosway that feels like it has been for want of a better word Americanized certain words, and phrases popped up throughout, and it lost a little of its London charm. This is me being extremely picky, and as I said both points are small niggles, it is just the first time I have ever had an issues about anything with this authors work.

This is still an extremely well written, beautifully told story, I have been wondering how the author would bring this couple together, in spite of their differences ever since it was confirmed that they would be getting a book, and for me she did pretty much deliver for them. The Cross family as a whole are quite a unit and I am pleased to see that Stu, Trevor and Liam are all likely to have their stories told too with the addition of more Hearts books to the series, sometime in 2016.

⭐️⭐️⭐️3.5 STARS⭐️⭐️⭐️

It’s not a secret that LH Cosway is one of my favorite author. While I’m fairly new to the romance book world, I’ve read quite a few books these past 3 years and I just know what works for me or not now, more over, I know when I open a book and it’s going to be special.

When I first read Miss Cosway, I instantly felt the difference between your everyday romance story and hers.

I often said reading her was like reading fantasy, only it really is a contemporary novel. She makes me dream and wonder and has this ability to make me lose myself in her books. So much creativity.

To say that I was anticipating Hearts of Blue is an understatement. I’ve been dying to get my hands on it, the promising story of Karla, fierce London police officer and Lee, the bad boy. We met them both in King of Hearts, the previous book in this “Hearts” series.

An opposite attracts romance trope but Cosway’ style.

Lee is an outlaw, his mom passed away when he was pretty young and he had no choice—or maybe poor choices— but to accept to get his hands dirty to keep and raise his brothers with him. He did what he had to do to survive, it was a mean to and end, but you can tell he and his brothers are good guys through and through.

Karla is the daughter of a London’s retired Police SuperIntendent. She is Blue Blood despite her claims that she joined the forces for her own reasons.

Their romance was definitely a slow burn, Lee poking and teasing her, trying to get her to cave and get her on a date. Karla did her best to resist him and I truly enjoyed their bantering sessions. Their romance story being an obviously forbidden one, it only added to the illicit feel of their stolen encounters. And let’s talk a little about those encounters. SO HOT.

I truly enjoyed Lee character’s the most. I’m going to be honest as ever and say that I would have preferred to read this book from his point of view. He definitely made the book for me. Maybe that would have been the easy and obvious thing to do, and I’m left to wonder why LH Cosway chose to narrate the book through Karla.

I liked Karla just okay as a character. But she more than once got on my nerves for being such an idealist. Or maybe was it the fact that she kept tip-toeing and felt so unsure about her feelings for Lee.

As a whole I really enjoyed Hearts of Blue, I know I shouldn’t compare books, but I’m forced to notice that I didn’t love it as much as I did the previous books in this series. Or any of LH Cosway’s books for that matters.

I’m so used of her books being SO different, that I felt a little let down on my way up to cloud nine. I enjoyed it but I didn’t find what makes me love this author more than another with Hearts of Blue.
As I’m saying this, I must sound disappointed to you, maybe a little, but I’m having HUGE hopes about the future with LH Cosway.

She truly made me cry with the scene with Stu at the end of the book. And I’m truly looking forward to read HIM.

L. H. Cosway is most certainly on my short list of favorite authors. Reading her books always puts me in reading heaven. What I normally love about her books is that the storylines are magical and unique and her writing flowed easily. She took such creative liberties with her main characters that I inevitably fell in love with them.

 photo bbe4de16-ac0d-4df6-939c-1c3101f056ce_zpsjtk6rmzi.jpg

In Hearts of Blue I got some of the things I love but sadly I never completely fell in love with the plot and for the first time I just didn’t connect with one of the main characters. I loved Lee Cross but I didn’t love Karla Sheehan. I tried look beyond the things about her that caused me frustration but there just wasn’t anything there for me to grab hold of.

Lee ~ he saved this book for me. He was sexy as hell and such a sweet talker. His childhood was one that made him a man that survived at any cost and he made no excuses for it. Thieving was what he did and who he was. But he wanted Karla in ways he knew he shouldn’t. Their lives were so different but in the end he didn’t care. He would take what he wanted.

 photo 4010fe1c-5ee7-42cc-add6-27f984710db8_zpspwiohppd.jpg

Karla ~ was one tough policewoman. I did love that she was a woman that didn’t take shit from anyone and one that kicked some ass. Sadly that was all I loved. I couldn’t couldn't connect with anything else. I wanted some softness, some sexiness and didn’t get. She was missing that flare that I usually get from Cosway’s heroines.

 photo 97c8538d-34f4-4811-ac6e-baadb3d5f729_zps3ipjwdsa.jpg

Things wouldn’t be easy for Lee and Karla. They didn’t belong together. Being with Lee was going against everything Karla represented. And Karla was determined not to give into the desire she felt for him. But she would quickly find out resisting Lee Cross was futile. L.H. can certainly write some hot sex scenes. I loved what we got but I would have loved a little more.

 photo b13a9891-ecad-49fb-821b-48dad4313a6f_zpsfnb723nn.jpg

In the end I just liked this one. It was missing that magic I have come accustomed to. I will say that even though this one fell a little short for me I am looking forward to reading about Stu Cross. Fingers are crossed that L.H. will deliver that magic....her magic!

❝The thin blue line would always lie between us, with me on the side of order and him on the side of chaos.❞

I loved Karla and Lee's story! L.H. Cosway is such a talented story teller. The way she weaves her words together is spell-binding and addictive. There were so many swoon-evoking quotes, I nearly highlighted the whole book!

We were first honored with a glimpse into Karla and Lee's chemistry in King of Hearts. By the end of the book, I couldn't wait to get their story.

❝I was barely breathing once he finished talking, and my thighs were clenched so tight I was in danger of pulling a muscle.❞

Karla Sheehan is the daughter of a career police officer. Not only is she "doing a man's job" - a police constable, her father isn't happy about it. A chauvinist at heart, he believes she is best suited for an office job or a housewife. She has to prove herself, day in and day out to him, the men she works with, as well as her superiors. She takes pride in her job, and she does it well.

Lee Cross was one of four boys who survived an unfair childhood. Lee is the reason he, his brothers and cousin survived. When you are hungry, cold and alone, you don't have the luxury to think about what is right and what is wrong, or make decisions that follow the rules and societal constructs, you search for the quickest. His actions were not morally acceptable, but they worked. He and his family survived, they didn't starve, they were all together, and they had a solid roof over their heads.

❝It's because you're you and I'm me that we want each other, Karla. And I wouldn't have it any other way.❞

A story of forbidden love, Karla and Lee must reconcile their lives and figure out a way to make them fit into the others life. Lee's character was fabulously sexy, and swoon-worthy. He was a little alpha, a little arrogant and a lot loyal and caring. He was perfect! The banter between Lee and Karla was funny and sexy, and provided for some off-the-charts sexual chemistry.

❝One day, Karla, you'll understand that me having my hands on you is never a bad thing.❞

As always with books written by Ms. Cosway, the secondary characters were more than characters, they were the supporting cast. Each having their role, each helping to provide the foundation for a great book. And speaking of books, I. CANNOT. WAIT. for 'Hearts on Air' and 'Thief of Hearts',

Hearts of Blue is book #4 in the Hearts series. While this could most definitely be read as a standalone, you don't want to do that, because you will miss out on all the goodness of the three books prior in the series. (There are minor spoilers in this book about book #3, King of Hearts.)

Another great addition to the Hearts series! I know they are all standalones, but it goes to show when you read in order, you get more from the reading experience. A great story about a cop in love with a criminal. I always say this, but Cosway always delivers fresh and different stories, never the same story every time. A very diverse storyteller.

Onto the next! Stu!!!

FULL REVIEW NOW POSTED:

“Sometimes the innocent ones are guilty only because the world didn’t give them a chance to stay innocent. Maybe I’m the one you should think about saving.”

I rarely fall in love with an author’s writing after only reading one of their books, but some writers are that outstanding, some books are that unforgettable, and L.H. Cosway is most definitely that kind of author. We met them in passing in King of Hearts, but their story finally unfolds in this book—Karla and Lee are two people belonging to two very different worlds, but their attraction is immediate, absolute, and greater than the sum of all the reasons they should stay away from one another. A story of opposites attracting, of two hearts colliding and being incapable of letting go, against a backdrop of two worlds that could never co-exist, and of two realities that will forever stand at opposite sides of the abyss called life. From its compelling characters, to the competent prose that holds us rapt cover to cover, this is a book I could not put down, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a splendidly written tale of a love fighting to triumph against all odds.

“I may not have been the strongest woman in the world, but I’d always prided myself on living my life by a firm set of principles. Then Lee came along and threw a bomb on my rules, reducing them to a pile of meaningless rubble.”

Karla Sheehan is a young police constable trying to leave her mark in a male-dominated profession where her gender will always be her greatest weakness. Criticised and discouraged all her life for all she ever wanted to be, she is obstinate in her desire to prove her worth to herself and to all those who do not believe in her, but her greatest determination stems from a deep-seated need to help and protect those who cannot do it for themselves. Her clear-cut existence is thrown into a spin, however, when a cocky thug enters her life, set on seducing her.

“If you come, I’ll make you come with my tongue, and I won’t expect anything in return.”

Lee Cross has never had an easy life, forced to protect and put food on the table for his three brothers ever since he was a kid himself, and that life has taught him that in order to survive, he’d have to live by his own set of rules. Finding himself in a pickle with the law is something that Lee is all too familiar with, but finding himself having feelings for the very law enforcer whose duty is to dismantle his operations is nothing he could have ever prepared himself for.

“You, me…us, it would never work, you know that, right?”
“Not sure I agree.”
“Yeah, well, you’re not the one with a reputation to uphold.”
“Oh, really? What do you think my boys would say if they knew I was sleeping with a cop?”

As Karla and Lee fight their attraction as much as they keep succumbing to it, and as their worlds keep pulling them apart more and more each day, they are forced to question everything they stand for and everything they hold dearest in life. A romance between a policewoman and a criminal has disaster written all over it and for Karla and Lee, loving each other means finding themselves caught between a rock and a hard place time and time again.

“…being with him made everything else in my life a lie, and yet, the idea of being without him made everything seem empty and grey.”

Ms Cosway has made these characters’ inner struggle so real, so very palpable and poignant, that you cannot help but wish for them to find a common ground to build their happily-ever-after upon. The sexual tension between them literally sets the pages on fire—the perfect blend of scorching passion and heart-warming tenderness—but their journey to the finish line is never rushed, never forced, and never veers away from the very essence of these characters. The more they get to know one another, the clearer it becomes that their lives might have led them down two very different paths, but what is in their hearts makes them more alike than they ever expected.

“…when I look at you, I see a little piece of myself, but braver. That’s why I like you.”

I wished at times to have more insight into the hero’s character as well, to see some crucial scenes through his eyes and hear his thoughts too, finding myself inexplicably drawn to the many facets of his complex personality and curious to find out even more. It would have made this story even more compelling, made him less of a ‘bystander’ in some situations, in my opinion, and added even more angst to certain scenes. This did not affect my overall enjoyment of this wonderful tale, however, Karla and Lee being two characters you cannot help but love and cheer for from the very first page, and their every interaction made my skin tingle. This is such a wonderful addition to a truly exceptional series, exquisitely written and with storylines that are as varied as they are unique, and while this book can easily be read on its own, I would advise reading King of Hearts beforehand as these stories happen somewhat simultaneously and they complement greatly one another.

“Give me a chance, and I’ll prove to you that everything you think you see is blurred by perception.”

3.5 Push Pull of Life Stars * * * 1/2
Every time I read L H Cosway, I am transported to a situation not entirely familiar to me. One reason is due to locations and life experiences. I am from the States; never lived overseas and the only knowledge I have of other countries would be from my own curiosity, movies, books and news. In a perfect world, I would have traveled and had personal impressions...When reading this particular book, I used many BBC dramas to give me the feel of the neighborhoods, people and circumstances. When I felt a little lost, I would drum up something to put me back in that mindset... and for me it worked.

The other part of reading L H Cosway is the type of writing she usually does... there just is a way about it; unique to her and the stories I have read in the past could be of this time, yet some ways feel other worldly.

With this tale, it was more of these times through and through...more of the day to day of London's Police and the everyday dramas of those just trying to get by. We are introduced to the Cross brothers in a very telling and emotional prologue giving a foundation of the whys these men grow up to be who they are and how their circumstances colored their view of them versus us.

We also meet Karla and she is also a product of her own traumas; a father who has no feelings or regard for her. He is the Chief of Police, a hard-nose...in his eyes she can do nothing of merit. A Mum she cares for but does not see as role-model either. She is her own person and over the years became a Constable wanting to be there for those in need. She sees her place as someone who can make some type of difference.

Lee Cross is knee deep on the other side of the line for Karla. Karla is the law; Lee works around it. It is that simple and complex. Just like being a man interested in a woman and visa-versa is simple and complex. It is all the matter of choices.

For everything is a choice...In the Cross Brothers' lives, there was a clear and distinct moment when a choice to survive was made. Lee was strong enough at 14 to see it clearly. He grabbed it in lieu of letting others making the decisions for him and his siblings; lived by it and provided a life for all of them together, a family... strong.

Lee Cross meets Karla through the friendship his brother has with Karla's best friend. They nod once or twice... he flirts and she slaps him back. A man/woman seed of interest/longing is planted deep....so deep that even when Karla talks about NOTHING will ever happen between them...the flutters still happen in her stomach and her skin tingles when thoughts of Lee creep into her head.

Both of these two keep seeing each other under a variety of circumstances... and every time Karla knows this is a lose lose situation for her career and emotional life....yet she still has this weakness for his touch, scent and lips which trace her mouth.... just so.

This is a love story with a plea for us to be able to understand how others live and maybe the knee-jerk judgements we make ... may just not be all there is to consider on both sides of a person. It is the lesson both of them learn the hard way.

There was much to like and there were times to be frustrated. As much as I leaned to Lee's cause and concern for his family, I had to give a hats off to Karla in many ways too. She was the more frustrating one, though... Like she wanted thing both ways... and I felt with her professional life... it would have made her more inclined to walk away from what she knew she should not be doing....
Yet in romance, I always need to remember the heart wants what the heart wants... and if the bodies together are magic... then the mind tends to take a backseat.

As always the men are swoon worthy and the outcome lays groundwork for more Cross Brothers and their romances. So much potential...and we will be getting more soon in 2016.

What is it about forbidden romance that gets my blood pumping, my curiosity peeked and my heart racing?

Hearts of Blue had all the elements you'd expect from a typical taboo love story ... except this one was so much sweeter and loving than I would have originally anticipated.

Karla and Lee have all the odds stacked against them. Yet, while external forces work to pull them apart, the emotional and physical connection between these two characters cannot be denied.

Lee is incredibly loyal. He's such a strong character. Charismatic, intelligent and bold. It was extremely refreshing to have a leading man who wasn't a manwhore, yet still sexually dynamic.

Karla is extraordinarily admirable. She's a woman who can stand up to her domineering father and who has no problem chasing down a criminal. And even though she's tough, she has such a soft, empathetic heart.

I loved how these two characters were able to teach each other about the other side of life. Opposites attract, and all that. But it's really their growth, both as a couple and as individuals that makes this a wonderful book.

A very sweet, very romantic read.
Can't wait for the next book in this series!

Well, I've still never met an LH Cosway book I didn't like. I have my favorites, but when it comes down to it, this author has a talent for writing my perfect types of book boyfriends. And let's face it, that's the most important thing to me.

I was basically in insta love with Lee,

Swoon! Ami thinks it's because he reminds me of Kade. I think she's right, I have a thing for soft hearted criminals apparently. I love that he's a badass, but sweet, protective, and loyal with her. *sigh*

I also loved the London backdrop. It's fun for me to travel to a different place though my books, and I was extra lucky to br with my favorite Londoner. Can't wait to hear what she thinks of my Cockney accent you tube finds. :)

The thin blue line would always lie between us, with me on the side of order, and him on the side of chaos.

L.H. Cosway always leaves an impression. I love her writing style and her characters. As much as I enjoyed this one, it was missing something. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it wasn't as big of a page turner as all of her previous work has been for me.

We first met Karla, as Alexis's (h from King of Hearts) friend and roommate. She is a 28 year old cop, who takes great pride in her job.

Then we have 25 year old Lee. Abandoned as a teen and the second eldest of 4 boys, Lee has had to veer to the wrong side of the law in order for him and his family survive.

At first, Karla finds the overly flirtatious Lee annoying. But soon he starts to grow on her. He knows exactly what to say to make her melt. Karla knows she has to resist the come-ons from the man she is more and more attracted to. She should stay far away, as logistically, they just don't make sense. A criminal and a constable? Impossible.
Or is it?...

An interesting premise and storyline. There are so many different angles to why their relationship cannot work. I 100% understand the conflict to this, so I'm not quite sure why I was so bothered about how things played out.

Lee was AMAZING!!! Love, love, loved him! The things he said, the looks he gave, and his actions, spoke volumes for who he was. Even though I totally got why Karla couldn't go there with him, I thought she came off a little cold, and felt she led him on a bit, which frustrated me. (Of course, this could've just been me, since my friend thought I was being too harsh on Karla). *shrugs*
Because of all that was great about Lee, I guess deep down I was hoping she'd say "fuck it" and just be with him. Others be damned.

Something was just amiss for me. Was Karla likable? Definitely. But I lacked an emotional attachment to her, and didn't see the usual quirky heroine that this author tends to write about. After reading the last two installments in the Hearts series, these held a huge spot in my heart and gave me major feels. This one...not so much.

I really did enjoy the story, so try not to take my bitchy attitude to heart. I liked almost everything about it, it just lacked that "oomph"-factor on my end.

Overall, it was a great book and I did feel the love. The banter and the wonderful writing outweigh anything that bugged me.
I look forward to more in this series and anything else from LH Cosway.

4.25 Stars (Re-Read 1/1/2018)

4 Stars (First Read 11/25/2015)

Like all Cosway's heroes, Lee was absolutely amazing! He was sweet and protective without being flawless and unrealistic. And like all Cosway's heroines, Karla was easy to relate to and someone I would want to be friends with.

I really enjoyed how Lee and Karla's views on morality clashed, and how they learned from each other to shape a more inclusive definition of what it means to be "good."

Despite their vastly different lifestyles (a criminal and a cop), this was a relatively low angst read. I wanted a bit more drama given this dichotomy, but every time it looked like it was heading that way it was neatly resolved instead, which isn't a big deal but I think I personally just wanted more drama.

I loved getting a glimpse into the Cross brothers' life. I am beyond excited for Trevor and Reya's story!! But I'm also looking forward to Stu's and hopefully we'll get a Liam story (and maybe even Sophie's??) *prays* This series is too good to imagine any kind of ending :)
