The blurb is a little misleading. Cam and Grace have a history way beyond him taking her case as his sister in law's bestie. They were first loves. The story was interesting. It had some twists and turns that were paced and timed well. Cam was very persistent and Grace was very reluctant, and with reason. Cam's family is amazing and I legit can't wait to read more about them. Cam himself was a flawed hero who matured in very good ways. I wasn't thrilled about what he did back then to break with Grace but he more than made up for it by becoming amazing and learning what truly matters. I genuinely enjoyed this read and know a lot of you would too :)
First date: I was a little thrown because the synopsis indicated Cam accepts Grace's case as a favor his sister, and that is not quite right. Grace and Cam had a thing in high school, so this is a second chance romance. Grace is not on trial, although if she keeps ignoring what Cam has discovered regarding a non-profit in her name, she may very well faces charges. Grace has recently returned home and has had a troubling time of it. It is clear she is smart but the way she avoided the issue annoyed me. Thankfully, Anne allowed me to understand Grace. Her issues stem from her past, crazy mother, and abandonment issues.. Grace has always loved Cam, but fears letting him in and the dates that follow allow this second chance romances to bloom. Second date: A suspenseful thread develops that adds interest and allow Cam and Grace to interact. Of course we see some meddling from family and friends. Cam is not perfect, and he has made mistakes but works hard at taking it slow and convincing Grace, he is her forever hero. He is protective and needs to trust Grace a little more. I liked seeing both characters grow and it is so obvious they belong together. Their chemistry is off the charts and we get some teasing, heated moments and lots of laughs. Grace’s mother is vile and I had some seriously bad thoughts about her. At the end of my second date I really want Cam and Grace to work it out. I am considering locking them in a closet. Third date: Confessions, resolution to their shared past, and threats to Grace push these two together. I had fun watching all the pieces come together. While it was in the background, Grace’s wedding planning business was weaved into the suspense angle. A certain Bridezilla complicated her life and added moments of laughter. Secondary characters added to the tale and we get to see Grace face her past as both characters blossom.
This book started off with a bang and never let up. I love the fact that Camden, this books hero, is all in in the very beginning. He knew he was in love and he was not going to give up on Grace. He knew this second chance was the only one he will get. Not to mention someone was messing with her and her business and he is in the perfect position to help her. His mission is to do just that.
I absolutely love the premise of this new book. The brothers and the family are all intertwined but you can tell the love and care they have for each other. Her Forever Hero focuses on Camden and Grace but you also get glimpses of the other family too making this a well-rounded story.
There was one part of the ending that bothered me in that several things seem really rushed and within a few sentences everything was wrapped up with a bow. It made the ending anti climatic almost. However, this book offers plenty of heat, a wonderful passionate story, and a beautiful HEA that leaves you with a smile. Plus a lovely set up for the next book in the series is included, which sounds like it is going to be a great one too!
Melody Anne always delivers a quality story with the sexy, passionate steam we enjoy in a romance novel.
The storyline & characters were well written and while my interest was held from the beginning to the end I did find the drama a little over the top, especially towards the end.
This has been an entertaining series to read & each book can be read as a standalone. Looking forward to Michael's book next, that little teaser at the end has me intrigued and eagerly awaiting his book.
Thank you Gallery, Threshold, Pocket Books via NetGalley for the advance copy.
Enjoyable book the Author is great, and really gets across the characters emotions, and feelings. This is a romance book, between two people who were each other's first love, when they were in their teens. Grace, and Cam. A lot of misunderstandings, and mistakes pull them apart. They both go their own ways, and years later Grace moves back to Sterling Montana where she grew up.
Grace while on her own has a lot of truly horrible things happen to her, and she closes down on her emotions. It's really sad. When I was reading I thought what is wrong with her, so her first love didn't work out, not many do. However, things start slowly coming out.
Her parents, are rich, snobs whom care for them selves only. Grace has a very strained relationship (to say the least) with her Mother. Whom has hurt Grace deeply. Grace just wants to work her catering business, and be close to her best friend.
Cam her first love is now an attorney, and trying to help Grace with something important, but she keeps shutting him down. She really needs his help though, and he intends to help her, no matter how many times she tells him she doesn't need his help, nor does she want to talk to him.
They both have feelings for each other, but things are very complicated, and there is no easy answer. You really need to read, and see what happens in all the twists, and turns. Grace is definitely determined not to let Cam back into her life. Cam is determined to help her out of trouble, and be with her once again.
As I said lots of twists, and turns, something's you don't see coming. Grace is a beaten down woman, who is not looking or wanting a relationship. She has been burned to many times, hurt so badly by people who are supposed to love her. It's nice watching her gain her strength, and become the strong, independent woman she really is. Going through this process with her is the best.
Curl up with this book, and have a wonderful day spent with Grace, and Cam's journey, it won't let you down.

Melody Anne is MY HERO. Her writing, stories, characters .. completely captivating and utterly unforgettable.
Her Forever Hero is a story that has become a fast favorite of mine. It has romance, suspense, laughter, passion, and much much more.
Two high school sweethearts come together again after years apart, neither one has forgotten the other however life and it's funny yet twisted way has decided to give these two a run for their money ...
Cam and Grace have a history .. a past that has left hurt and emotional scars in its wake. When the beauty returns to her home town and faced with a situation hanging over her head, can the sexy Attorney Cam redeem himself in her eyes and her in the eyes of the law? The story is fast paced with nail biting twists and turns, scorching intimate moments and head spinning ups and ups.
Read and find out how these two move ahead with life and each other. Second chances might actually exist ....
I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.
I decided to read this notwithstanding the fact that I have not read the first two books in the series. I had to really stomp on my OCD tendencies and just suck it up and read this book.
It's clear right from the beginning that there is history between Cam and Grace. Things have obviously happened in the past to bring these two character to the point in this book. I like Cam right from the beginning. He's clear on how he feels about Grace and that he's willing to do what it takes to help her out of the "legal" situation she finds herself in. Cam spends the better part of this book trying to make up for past wrongs.
Grace on the other hand, was not as likeable to me. I completely understand stubbornness (I've been called stubborn on one or five occasions) but Grace takes it to a whole other level. I found myself completely frustrated with this character so many times throughout the book. Which in turn, made me feel frustrated with Cam for accepting this attitude from her. Now, I'm not really a heartless bitch so I can understand that some of the events of her past have lead Grace to be the way she is.
That said, I liked this book, especially the mystery aspect of things going on around Grace and the legal case she's involved in. Lucky for her, Cam is on it and won't rest until things are sorted out.
I was left wondering about the next book in this series. I will most likely read it as I need to know what happens next to the Whitman family.
Grace comes back to her small hometown after 10 years, disillusioned with life. Cam, who broke her heart when she was a teenager, would like another chance. I was interested in that and what had happened back in the day, until about 25% into the book, then I got tired of the constant going back and forth between a cocky Cam wanting another chance and a bitter Grace blowing him off. I was over it and wished they would get over it too. But still it continued and they added head games to the mix. Grace and Cam are annoying characters and the dialogue is perfunctory. Grace had legal problems and someone out to frighten her, which was interesting but never resolved in a way that explained everything that had happened. This is the fifth book in the Unexpected Heroes Series. It works as a stand alone but odd things happened that might've made more sense if I'd read the other ones.
Cam and Grace's relationship is quite explosive: “Don’t you dare sweet-talk me and expect to get not only into my house but into my pants as well.” “You’re not wearing pants,” he pointed out, which only made the heat in her eyes go up another ten degrees. I loved Cam I enjoyed reading this book.
Camden is working at being the best attorney he can be, and when Grace has moved back to their home town he is looking at getting back together with the women he loves. The problem is she does not want him. Grace has more than enough problems of her own between the mother she does not want to talk too, someone trying to ruin her, her best friend marrying Camden’s brother and wanting her to moves past her fears and let him in again, and then there is the person she does not know about who wants to harm her, and really all that person is doing is making her look at Camden closer. What they had and if they can start over a new beginning. Once the new beginning happens the story really takes off as to finding out who is doing the things to her. The one part lacking is that there is no sure definition on who was the person who was sending or leaving the notes and breaking into her apartment. Only an inference and in a true mystery you would know who had done what. Also the other person who was committing fraud against her was only mentioned at the time of his arrest. When I got past those two things this was a good story with good supporting characters that added to the story. overall a good book. I got this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 4 stars. This is another great addition to a series that I have enjoyed immensely, a premise that is full of heart as these brothers are brought together by the love of one man who changed their lives. We are treated to another love story featuring Camden and Grace, a romance that started years ago.
Grace Sinclair has come home to Sterling, Montana to stay. She left years ago to get away from her parents and a man who she thought she loved, but now it is time to come back. She wants to build her catering business and believes the people from home will help. She realizes she will have to face some demons from her past, her unloving parents who are still a part of the community and Camden, a man who hurt her years ago.
Camden Whitman knew the minute Grace came back as small town gossip is a key ingredient to life in Sterling. He grew up in the area along with his adopted brothers, sons of a man who gave them a second chance in the world. As a lawyer, he is in a position to help Grace through a legal battle, as long as she accepts his help; she is extremely stubborn and still angry after all these years.
I am a sucker for small town romances and this one has been a fun series. These brothers are as sexy as hell and I love how they feel about each other, their bond is tight as they have gone through a lot to get where they are today.
Grace is very likeable, albeit extremely stubborn when it comes to her past. She stays away from Camden as much as possible for a year after she comes back and then when he tries to help, she pushes him away. Even with all the evidence she does not believe that someone is trying to ruin and then hurt her when things get dangerous. However he is stubborn too and he is determined to protect her and solve the mystery of the illegal non-profit agency that seems to point to her.
I adore Camden, a thoughtful man who is struggling with his feelings for Grace. They believed they were in love once but misunderstandings over the years have left them at an impasse. I like that he is putting everything on the line to help her clear her name, even if she does not want his help. But with the tenacity Camden possesses, she eventually sees the danger and the more time they spend together the more they realize that maybe they both were a little at fault all those years ago. There are additional issues that Grace must face including an abusive relationship and her mother’s continued betrayal, but I love that Camden is there for her though it all. You can feel the chemistry between them, the sizzle in the air is electric whenever they are together.
This is a fairly fast read, the pace works well and I enjoyed the mystery. I thought the ending was wrapped up too quickly and there are some unanswered questions but I did not predict the villain and was surprised at the twist. Although this is the third book in the series about four brothers, you can easily read it as a standalone; the author brings the reader up to speed easily. This story features family dynamics and small town life and many of the characters from the previous books come and go throughout the story, such as Martin the amazing man who kept these kids together and I enjoyed seeing his love life come alive. I am excited about Michael’s story which is next, the last holdout from love. Enjoy this small town romance with some mystery and danger to bring excitement to the story.
My Review: Overall, this was a very enjoyable read for me. The hero is 4 years older than the heroine and they were involved when she was 18 and he was 22. After a series of misunderstandings, they broke up. For Cam, that was heartbreaking. He was sure she was his forever girl. For Grace it was another blow in a line of devastating heartbreaks where once again a person in her life that she loved let her down completely.
So when they meet up again ten years later, Cam wants them to have another chance, but Grace is a no-go. Been there. Done that. Had her heart broken. Won't be doing that again. Grace's backstory broke my heart. On paper, she's had a storybook life...society princess, but that's hiding horrible parents and a line of people who have let her down and hurt her. And unfortunately Cam is also one of those people, no matter that he's truly a good guy. But I felt for him, too, because he wants them to work so much. Between that and the fact that he's so protective of Grace. He's trying to save her although she doesn't accept that she's truly in danger...from anything.
There's an element of suspense to this story that helped to heighten the need-to-turn-the-page-right-now aspect and I love that.
But with that being said, this is an author that I'm just not sure is for me. I DNF'ed the last book in this series. This one was definitely better, but there were still scenes where I found myself rolling my eyes...either at the cliche wording during sex scenes, or the completely over the top reactions from the characters. I don't understand that, because it's not something I have an issue with throughout the entire book. Just certain scenes set my teeth on edge. If I battle through reading those, I find myself in love with the book in the next chapter again. I've NEVER had that issue with another author and I honestly don't understand it.
So take that as you will. Not a completely positive review on this one, but there was enough of the story that I absolutely loved that I would definitely recommend it. Also note....I think my reaction is a rarity with this author, because most people truly love every bit of the story. Honestly, I'm sad that I don't. Because when the scenes work for me, they are 5-star working for me. Maybe the next time I get one of her books I should block off the time to read it all in one sitting and see if I still have a problem.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.
I have only read the previous book and some of the novellas in this series so I was really starting to like the characters and the men who save these women.
In this story we have Camden (love that name) and Grace. They were each other's first love until Cam left for college and broke up with Grace. Now it's 10 years later and Grace has returned back home and one person she doesn't not want to reconnect with is Camden.
Camden has always loved Grace and now that she is back he will show her every way he can. The first thing he needs to do is find out if Grace is really behind the money laundering from the nonprofit organization that is in Graces name. The only issue with that is that Grace knows nothing about it but someone in her past is using her and Cam wants to get to the bottom of it.
Both Camden and Grace come from wealthy families but there home life was different. While Camden came from a loving close family Grace did not. But these two became friends and it grew from there. I really enjoyed learning the whole story behind them.
Camden and Grace have some great tension between them. Camden is flirty while Grace is always arguing with him. Since Grace has been back they shared some kisses and one night after Camdens brothers wedding but Grace isn't giving Cam anymore. Obviously you can see Grace doesn't want to get hurt again and after she explains what happened while she was away I can see why.
I really did love the suspense on finding out who was the one messing with Grace and who set up this nonprofit in her name because there was a couple of people who it could have been.
As much as I enjoyed reading this book I did have some issues with it as well. The author mentions things that are pretty important to the story and yet they aren't mentioned again. Baby? Her parents? What happens to the person who set up the nonprofit? I really wanted all these things wrapped up before the next book.
It looks like the next book will be about Michael and I can't wait to see who he ends up with.
This is the third book to the Unexpected Heroes series by Melody Anne and I got this book form Netgalley.
The story as a whole was okay and I enjoyed it. However, I cannot say that I loved this book as much as I loved the others. I'm a fan of Melody. Her novels always have a way of touching your emotions, funny and sometimes include drama and a little suspense. I guess this book was trying to achieve the same things. I can see from the way the plot was moving forward.
I think what didn't work for me was the heroine. I feel like she was dragging the story down that there was no choice but to go in circles. Thus, the middle part of the novel felt a little bit slow. Also, the suspense part was not actively done. In some of her other books, I can 'see' the events unfolding rather than reading about it. I almost thought that there really was no case and it was just another scheme by Martin Whitman to play cupid. Also, I don't think the anxiety she kept getting when she is in a hospital was ever resolved.
The other half of the story was better. Like when the heroine stopped second guessing herself and actually face what was before her, the story moved a lot better and more steady. And when hell broke lose when her ex-boyfriend made an appearance.
I really liked Camden though. He was patient, and loving and over all hero material. I also admired the friendship he has with his friends and how they are there for each other when they are needed. And also Camden's family. I have followed this series because I really enjoyed watching Camden and his family through each story.
Michael's little preview at the end was highly intriguing and I feel like I'll enjoy that much more than this one. Also, I wonder if Grace ever found out about the things Camden did for her without her knowledge and how she reacted about it (i.e. the cctv installed over her new place).
All things considered, I can say I still enjoyed most part of the book and I'm excited to read the next one.
I am a HUGE Melody Anne fan! Honestly, her Billionaire Bachelor series are one of my favorite series I have ever read. If I am in a slump and need something great, this author is one of my go to authors. Now onto this book, I LOVED this book!! There is just something about meddling fathers that just works especially when it's written by this author. I am truly in love with Cam. Man oh man is he super dreamy and add in the fact that this is a second chance love story and I was hooked. From page one, I just couldn't put this one down. Grace and Cam were each other's first loves and things happen that cause them to split but dear ole dad knows who is the right woman for his son. There wasn't one thing I would change about this book. Even though it is book 3 of a series you can read it as a standalone. Why would you however is a completely different story. You are really missing out if you haven't read Melody Anne before. She really is a fantastic author!! This was easily a 5 AMAZEBALLS stars for me!
I just love these Whitman boys, I loved how Cam went after Grace with everything he had. I loved how he didn't give up even though she wanted him to. I also love second chance at love stories, this is one my top favorites. We had a little mystery and some action thrown in with the love story. I can't wait for the next book.
I enjoyed this book. Cam and Grace have a history together. Choices made in the past make it difficult to trust and rely on others. A sensual story of second chances and true love.
Hopefully this won't be the last in the Unexpected Heroes series
Suddenly, she became sleepy and had to fight to keep her eyes open, as something was dragging her down. “No. Please don’t drug me, please,” she sobbed. But it was too late. Maybe minutes or hours passed. Grace didn’t know. But she woke up crying Cam’s name. “Its okay, Grace. Everything is okay.” Trying to focus, Grace turned her head and found Sage beside her, and her best friend’s eyes were red and swollen, her expression solemn. “Cam? Where’s Cam? Please tell me he’s okay, Sage.” “He’s fine, Grace. He woke up an hour ago and demanded to see you right away. The doctor gave him a sedative, but I’m afraid that if we don’t get you in there, all hell will break loose,” she said with a wobbly smile. “Then take me to him.” Grace was still weak from the sedative, so Sage helped her into a wheelchair and began pushing her. “The bullet hit Cam in the abdomen,” Sage told her, “but it missed all vital organs. He’s going to make a full recovery, but a sore one, and I have a feeling he’s going to be a bear to be around while he’s on bed rest.” The two of them approached a room that was almost rattling. “I said to get her in here now or I will rip every one of these tubes out of me!” I HOPE WE GET MICHAEL STORY! 346 pages
Cam & Grace have history. What that history is depends on which you hear from. Unfortunately for Cam, Gracd holds a huge drudge against Cam regarding his presumed wrong dling and refuses to discuss it or even talk to him. Cam knows he handled everything wrong. He still holds onto his perceived hurt and has yet to talk with Grace about it. It is all a mess.
Cam has become aware of a threat to Grace and is determined to get to the bottom of it. Grace, being a stubborn fool throughout most of the story refuses to talk to anyone about anything.
I became impatient with her overall attitude. She thinks only of herself and in doing so hurts those who care about her. In my opinion, she needed to grow a pair and woman up. The turn came suddenly and ended abruptly.
I hope Michael gets his story soon.
I didn't care for Rebecca Estrella's narration. I may give her another chance with something else to see if it is her or the direction she was given. Her pacing was off, at times she sounded stilted and emphasized the names in such a way it was unnatural.
I have read a number of books by this author and she never disappoints. this is a fantastic romantic story with just enough hot steamy scenes to keep you hooked. the book is fantastically written with brilliant characters which are going to keep you reading long into the night. this is the third book in the series, but I hadn't read one and two before reading this, to me this book could be read as a standalone.
Grace wanted to get away from small town in Montana, but she is back again. One of the reason she doesn't want to come back was Cam and she won't be able to resist him again. Cam is back in his home town where all her brothers and father is. He never have forgotten Grace and when he saw her again at his brother's wedding, he couldn't resist and she wanted him as much as he did. After their quick encounter, Cam and Graces were back to arguing all the time. When Cam had Grace's file, he couldn't not help her. He knew he needed to help her but she refuses to cooperate with him. She is in much bigger trouble and it is difficult to solve her case if she won't help him. Grace won't forget and will not forget her brake up with Cam. He broke her heart many years ago and she doesn't want to revisit. She really didn't think much of the problem at hand when Cam was making bigger deal and it is driving her nuts. Cam and Grace will need to work together to solve the case but they will have to figure out what had happened to both of them the first time. They will have to hatch out their feelings if they want to continue. Will Cam be her hero again? There is interesting epilogue but makes you wonder what happens afterwards. It was quick read and suspense at the very end. Thanks to Netgalley and Pocket books for ARC in exchange for honest review.
Meh...was ok. Grace was a bit of a naive doormat for most of the book. Cam was a decent guy. Some suspense while Cam investigates who has stolen Grace’s identity and is funneling money through a non profit...of course Grace is in denial. I really struggled to complete this book mainly because I could not make a connection with Grace...she was behaving like a 20yo instead of a 30yo.
Grace is strong and so damaged. She's tragically doomed to love terrible men, has the worst family ever and a lot of money. This character is awful but the things that happen to her are worse and she reacts as well as can be expected but there is little hope for her tbh.
I only realized this was third in a series after I finished it, I mean
I am beginning to think that i just don't like this author .
this is the third book in this series i just can't get pass it. I really want to know what happens in Michael story , but I decided my time is best invested doing yard work ( I hate yard work) .
Oh my gosh this was so good. There were so many possibilities as to who was framing Grace. Quite a few twists along the way. Oh goodness the bombshell about Michael at the end was a complete shock. I hope we get the back story on that soon.
These are the types of romance books I enjoy reading. They are romance novels with drama and suspense. The typical romance novel today is just simply boring especially when everything revolves around sex.
