Falling for him was never part of the plan...

Lia Mercato has everything under her career as an artist, her social media following, and especially her maid of honor duties for the wedding of her two best friends, Andy and Sophie. The one thing she can't control? The best man.

Owen Walsh is everything Lia a sellout corporate lawyer with an infuriatingly gorgeous, know-it-all smirk. But it isn’t only that. He always seems to be letting Andy down, and Lia has no time for anyone who fails the people she loves – however gorgeous he might be.

But as they’re forced together preparing for this wedding, Lia starts to see there might be more beneath the surface of Owen’s immaculate suits. And there might be a very good reason he’s flitted in and out of Andy’s life for years. Lia knows about secrets after all, and the scars they leave behind.

As their worlds collide, the harder it is to ignore their growing attraction to each other... until they can’t anymore. It’s only a fling Lia tells herself. But when someone from Lia's past reappears, Lia and Owen must face the could they possibly be falling in love?

Or will this romance be just another happily-never-after?

A steamy, cozy enemies-to-lovers forced proximity romance perfect for fans of B.K. Borison, Lucy Score, and Ali Hazelwood.

THIS BOOK WAS SOOO GOOD!! this had so many of the staple features i absolutely adore in romance books (found family, DELECTABLE banter, grumpy x grumpy etc.) so it's genuinely no surprise that i loved this book as much as i did! god i just love my FMCs slightly mean and headstrong, Lia is so perfect to me and no one can change my mind i fear! and Owen omg... hes just the perfect amount of tortured soul and im so glad to see that he and Lia got their happy ending together!

i genuinely read this book in one singular sitting because i couldnt bare to put it down, whether this audiobook was playing in my ears or i was immersive reading it, i was always 1000% locked in on this book (huge feat considering my adhd has been beating my ass lately). i can see me coming back to reread this one whenever i need a book that will get my spirits up!!
im also obsessed with the fact that this book ends with

the narrators of this audiobook were SO perfect to me, they were so convincing with the emotions throughout this book that it just made me even more connected to them and the story itself. i will be on the lookout to check out any of their other/future audiobooks too because i genuinely cant get enough of them!

thank you SO MUCH to NetGalley and Simon and Schuster for providing me with a copy of this audiobook - this review has been written entirely voluntarily and contains my honest opinions!

2 stars for me.

I was looking for enemies to lovers story, and this audio have cute cover,so I was so excited to get approved and listen to the story.Sadly it didn't meet my expectations, both characters really can't stand each other,or should I say Lia can't stand Owen.I like the banter, but after a while Lia was just to much, and I was hoping it will get better.Owen on the other hand was not perfect, yet more likable for me.I just don't feel the connection. Two stars as I liked Owen, and their friends, they were really great.I guess it was not for me.

Thank you netgalley and Simon & Schuster | Simon Stream for this audio,my review is honest and my own.

Quick Summary: A healing you, healing me, forever we romance

My Review: All Our Nevers by Allie Moffatt is book #2 in the Hearts of Boston series. It is described as an "escapist enemies-to-lovers romance." The novel was released today (10/14/26). HAPPY RELEASE DAY! 🎉

About the Book: "Falling for him was never part of the plan...

Lia Mercato has everything under control... The one thing she can't control? The best man.

Owen Walsh is everything Lia hates...

Lia starts to see there might be more beneath the surface of Owen’s immaculate suits.

As their worlds collide, the harder it is to ignore their growing attraction to each other...

...can they escape the scars of their past?"

In My Own Words: Scars and bruises from the past haunt two people who unexpectedly find solace and support in each other.

About the Characters: The featured couple in this installment consists of Lia and Owen.

📸 - Lia -> Influencer/businesswoman, guarded, defensive, in protection mode at all times, more sensitive than she lets on, career focused, very savvy and intelligent, driven to succeed for a reason, longing, haunted by her past, trying to protect her peace in her own way, seeking

💼 - Owen -> Lawyer, good guy at heart, a gentleman who knows how to treat a special lady (even though...), trying to reconcile with his past and rebuild his relationship with his family, very much attuned to Lia, imposter syndrome of a sort, insecure, running from a false narrative about himself related to his father, longing

✨ - Other Characters: NASA is back, only now, SALON is in!

This book did an incredible job of bringing back the book #1 crew members - Nolan, Andy, and Sophia. I loved how they played a large role in the story without taking it over. They were present and 100% themselves, which made for humor, heart, and happy-joy-joy feelings.

(Sidebar: Can I just give Nolan a big, ole hug?)

About the Conflict: Out of the gate, book 2 brought all the receipts! It dealt with many heavy conflict points, such as abuse, violence, anxiety, toxic behaviors, and how to survive trauma.

My Final Say: All Our Nevers was witty and sharp. It was an emotionally charged, highly intense romance. Yes, it had fluff and lighthearted elements. It also presented some serious gut punching aspects that felt raw, real, and understandably potent.

The dynamic between Lia and Owen came across in such a way that I could not look away from them. They were like magnets. The pull was always there. They definitely struck sparks off each other. At the same time, they repelled each other (but not really). They could not forget one another. The essence of who they were, beneath the layers, was seen by the other person in their relationship. I loved how they could and couldn't and could read each other. It was intense, no matter what way you sliced it. Their journey to a healthy place was a brutal, beautiful struggle that allowed them to grow. Watching them fight through the dark shadows of the past to get to their forever love was worth every single step.

Because this book, in comparison to book #1, dealt with weightier social issues and the burden of keeping hidden secrets, I was impacted greatly. My heart felt the fear, it felt the frustration, and it felt all the feelings of both leads.

In the end, I will simply say that a strong emo-rich story with a textured conflict arc will always pull me in. This book did that, and it did it well.

Other: Readers who enjoy stories that have the following tropes will like this book:

🖤 - Enemies to lovers
💚 - Found family
💙 - Opposites attract
🧡 - Close/forced proximity
💜 - Best friend’s brother
💛 - Will they/won't they

I absolutely love this cover, and the sound of this immediately caught my attention. It has so many tropes I usually enjoy, so I was really excited to dive in.

Overall, I didn't think this was a bad book at all. There were a lot of elements I genuinely enjoyed, particularly the friendship group and strong sense of found family throughout the story. The relationships between the characters felt authentic, and I loved seeing how they showed up for one another.

Owen was undoubtedly the standout character for me. He carried so much emotional weight throughout the story, particularly when it came to the trauma from his childhood and the strain it had placed on his relationship with his younger brother. Some of my favourite moments were the conversations he and Lia shared about their upbringing and the impact of growing up with an abusive parent. Those scenes felt heartfelt and added a lot of depth to his character.

Lia was a more difficult character for me to connect with. I admire strong, independent women, and I appreciated that she didn't define her worth through a relationship. Given what she'd experienced with her ex, I completely understood why she was guarded and struggled to trust others.

That said, I found myself struggling with some of her decisions and reactions throughout the story. In particular, I had a hard time understanding her frustration towards her friends for not recognising the extent of the abuse she had experienced when she had largely kept that part of her life hidden from them. While I absolutely respected her need to protect herself and open up on her own terms, this aspect of her perspective was difficult for me to fully connect with.

I also felt that the conflict surrounding her ex became somewhat repetitive as the story progressed. Her fear and reluctance to take steps to protect herself were understandable given her trauma, but at times it felt as though she was pushing away the very people who wanted to support her, while also wishing they were there for her. Because of that, some of her actions felt contradictory, and I struggled with the way she treated Owen towards the end of the book.

Despite that, I really enjoyed watching their relationship develop. They built a genuinely sweet connection, and it was clear how deeply Owen cared for her. Their romance had some lovely moments, and I found myself rooting for them throughout.

While this one didn't fully work for me on a character level, there was still a lot to appreciate in the found family dynamics, emotional maturity from Owen and his character arc. It wasn't a bad read by any means, just one where I struggled to connect with parts of the heroine's journey.

Thank you to Simon Stream, NetGally and Allie for the EARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Contemporary enemies to lovers is so difficult to do, but this was executed pretty well! There was plenty of sharp banter, forced proximity, fiery tension and unresolved trauma for us to uncover. And what's better? it's her male best friends older brother!

"You're looking hot and annoying, as always." "Eat my ass." "I will if you beg."

Lia has her future career planned out, and there is no room for relationships as she juggles her jobs as an artist and social media influencer. Now as the maid of honour for her best friends wedding, it's up to her to make it as perfect as possible - the only issue is the best man. Owen is the estranged but-recently-acquainted older brother to the groom, and her best friend. Lia can't forgive him for being absent and instantly tries wants nothing to do with him. She especially doesn't want to acknowledge the attraction between them... But Owen loves a challenge! As he works towards rebuilding a friendship with his brother, and unresolved traumas are revealed, Lia comes to wonder if maybe she had been too harsh.

"Like the view, Amelia?"

Allie nailed another MMC. He is charming, and kind of a jerk but behind it all he's a protector - the will commit sins for his loved one kind! I found this romance so natural and organic; it was a slow-burn and I loved every minute of it. The sharp banter and between them was hilarious and had me laughing silly. I did find Lia to be a bit over the top with her feminist views, but Lia was the perfect bestie to Sophie and Andy and I resonated with her needed to give her all to her friends but secretly wishing she had the same energy back. Friendships are difficult, and I enjoyed there was development in her emotional maturity and healing from her own trauma through this.

Again, the Boston backdrop for this book was BEAUTIFUL. I am itching to fly over now and live like this friendship group. I can't wait for Nolan's book next and to be back with this friendship group <3

Summary
I absolutely loved the tension between Lia and Owen. Their dislike for each other, especially on Lia’s side, radiated off the page, making the forced proximity of working together on the wedding so enjoyable to watch unfold. I adored their sarcastic, competitive flirting and loved seeing their walls slowly start to crumble. The spice was incredibly well written, and their chemistry was hot, intense, and impossible to look away from. After loving books one and two, I’m desperate to know if Nolan will get his happy ending too!

Review of Advanced Copy!!!!

This book was everything!!! I absolutely loved All Our Almosts and completely fell in love with this universe and group of friends, so when I heard this was Lia and Owen’s story, I was SAT.

The pacing of this book was absolutely perfect. Allie did such an amazing job fleshing out these characters for me. When reading the first book, I wanted to know so much more about Owen, and getting to see his relationship with his brother grow and watch them work through things was beautiful.

And Lia? My sweet angel, you are so precious. The whole time I was screaming, “LET THIS MAN take care of you!” But once she did, ahhhh.

A few standout things for me:

1. The banter was chef’s kiss.
2. I will EAT UP a “he takes care of her when she’s sick” storyline every single time.
3. A makeup kiss in the rain? Ughhh.

This isn’t even really a critique, but I got super scared when I was 80% in and the Connor conflict was fully fleshed out. BUT it was saved for me, and that ending was perfect.

I cannot wait for Nolan’s story. Allie, you have a fan for life ❤️

I loved the first book, but I loved this one even more! Lia and Owen’s romance has wonderful tension, chemistry, and tender moments. Seeing the vulnerability beneath their first impressions made their connection especially satisfying.
The friendships added so much heart, too. Several passages went straight into my highlights, and this book left me even more invested in the series.
Five stars and three spicy peppers. Highly recommend!

This was a fun, relatable love story. You are pulled in by the characters - they were so real that you were rooting for them from the beginning. Lia and Owen pull of the enemies to lovers trope, but it's done really well. This was a quick, fun read.

All Our Nevers is the second book in the NASA book series and I enjoyed being back in the wholesome friend group for another book! The enemies-to-lovers trope was addictive and I liked seeing how Lia and Owen grew together as individuals and as a couple.

That being said, I didn’t enjoy this one as much as All Out Almosts… but I think this is just a personal preference thing. I didn’t mesh with Lia as much as I did Sophie in the previous book. I found myself getting really frustrated at how poorly she was treating Owen throughout the book.

That being said, this was an enjoyable audiobook to listen to and the narrators did a great job.

I’ve always found it fascinating how easily we mistake someone’s defenses for their personality.

We see the sarcasm, the emotional distance, the carefully cultivated indifference, and assume we understand the person standing behind them. But there’s an enormous difference between knowing how someone behaves and understanding what taught them to behave that way. Sometimes, the version of a person we’ve experienced is one they’ve spent years constructing to keep themselves safe. That’s what made All Our Nevers such a compelling continuation of Allie Moffatt’s Hearts of Boston series for me.

After enjoying Sophie and Andy’s relationship in All Our Almosts, I was delighted to return to their wonderfully chaotic friend group, but Lia Mercato and Owen Walsh brought an entirely different emotional dynamic to the series.

Lia is a fiercely independent fiber artist with a sharp tongue, strong opinions, and very little patience for Owen, the seemingly arrogant corporate lawyer she believes has repeatedly disappointed his younger brother. Owen, meanwhile, has perfected the art of appearing unaffected, even when the reality beneath that carefully maintained exterior is considerably more complicated. Forced together as maid of honor and best man for Sophie and Andy’s wedding, their mutual irritation produces deliciously entertaining banter, undeniable chemistry, and the kind of grumpy-meets-grumpy tension I love. But beneath the antagonism is a surprisingly thoughtful exploration of trauma, trust, family, and the assumptions we make about people when we don’t know the entirety of their stories.

What I particularly appreciated was Moffatt’s willingness to let both protagonists remain imperfect. Lia is outspoken, fiercely loyal, ambitious, and unapologetically herself, but she’s also capable of being judgmental, defensive, and occasionally unfair. And I loved that complexity, even when she frustrated me. I’ve never needed a heroine to be endlessly agreeable to find her compelling. In fact, some of my favorites are women whose sharpest edges developed in response to experiences they never should have endured. But understanding the origins of someone’s behavior doesn’t automatically excuse its consequences. There were moments when Lia’s opinions tested my patience, and I appreciated that her growth involved more than simply finding a man willing to tolerate everything she said or did. Her independence remained essential to her identity, as did her creative work, and I loved that the romance didn’t require her to become a more convenient version of herself.

Owen, however, was the character who truly elevated this story for me. His complicated relationship with Andy, the guilt he carries, and the influence of his family history added layers I hadn’t anticipated. One of my favorite aspects of interconnected romance series is discovering that a situation we thought we understood can look entirely different from another character’s perspective. Learning more about Owen challenged the assumptions surrounding his relationship with Andy, and I appreciated how Moffatt developed his vulnerability without diminishing his strength. Beneath his guarded exterior is a man who notices more than he reveals, cares more deeply than he allows others to recognize, and has spent far too long allowing painful experiences to shape his understanding of his own worth. There’s something particularly heartbreaking about a person who has spent years interpreting his own survival through the lens of failure, especially when the people judging him never knew what he was surviving in the first place.

Lia and Owen are ultimately more alike than either initially wants to admit. Both are protective, stubborn, emotionally guarded, and accustomed to relying on themselves. Their sarcasm is frequently as much a defense mechanism as it is a source of genuinely entertaining banter. But what makes their romance work isn’t that one teaches the other how to become a better person. It’s that they gradually recognize the difference between protecting themselves and preventing themselves from experiencing the connection they deserve. I especially appreciated that their developing relationship doesn’t erase their individuality or suggest that love requires either character to abandon the future they’ve imagined for themselves.

I also loved how All Our Nevers expanded the relationships established in All Our Almosts without simply repeating the first book’s emotional arc. Sophie and Andy’s story centered on the vulnerability of risking an existing friendship for something more, while Lia and Owen must overcome assumptions and defenses before they can establish genuine trust. Their chemistry was excellent, their banter thoroughly entertaining, and the returning friendships gave the sequel a wonderful sense of familiarity. I particularly appreciated that Moffatt allowed her characters to define happiness on their own terms rather than suggesting every satisfying romance must lead to the same conventional future. That’s something I value enormously in contemporary romance: love should expand someone’s possibilities, not require them to abandon their individuality.

Alice Way and Robin Liew Harper were a great fit for All Our Nevers. I particularly appreciated how the dual narration complemented Lia and Owen’s grumpy-meets-grumpy dynamic, allowing their sharp banter and underlying vulnerability to coexist. For a romance in which both characters are so accustomed to hiding what they genuinely feel, the contrast between their spoken exchanges and internal perspectives is especially important. The performances helped bring that emotional complexity to the listening experience, making the chemistry, humor, and more vulnerable moments engaging throughout. I also appreciated how the alternating perspectives allowed me to understand the emotional distance between what each character believed about the other and what was actually happening beneath the surface. An enjoyable, well-suited audiobook performance that complemented Moffatt’s character-driven storytelling and made returning to this world particularly satisfying.

Ultimately, Moffatt delivered exactly what I hoped for from this sequel: wonderfully complicated characters, entertaining chemistry, and a romance with enough emotional substance to make the vulnerability beneath all that banter genuinely matter. What impressed me most wasn’t simply how much Lia and Owen came to understand each other, but how their developing relationship challenged the assumptions they’d carried about themselves. I love when a romance recognizes that emotional growth doesn’t require a person to become unrecognizable. Sometimes it simply means learning that the qualities which once helped us survive don’t have to determine every relationship we build afterward.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐½ (4.5/5)

Vibe: Grumpy meets grumpy, enemies to lovers, sharp-witted banter, Boston friendships, wedding chaos, complicated family histories, an artist FMC, and an emotionally guarded MMC with considerably more beneath the surface.

Emotional Impact: Strong and beautifully layered. Owen’s history and relationship with Andy were particularly meaningful, while Lia’s struggle to reconcile independence, vulnerability, and accountability gave the romance genuine emotional substance.

Romance: Excellent chemistry and wonderfully entertaining banter, with a relationship that becomes increasingly compelling as the characters confront their assumptions about one another. I appreciated that neither needed to abandon their individuality or compromise their vision of happiness to find love.

Narration: Alice Way and Robin Liew Harper were a great fit for Lia and Owen. Their dual narration complemented the sharp banter, emotional tension, and vulnerability beneath both characters’ defensive exteriors, making this an engaging and enjoyable listening experience.

Connection Factor: Very high. A fiercely independent artist, a complicated MMC shaped by family trauma, imperfect characters learning accountability, and a romance built on mutual understanding rather than emotional dependency.

Aftertaste: Emotionally satisfying, entertaining, and a wonderful return to the Hearts of Boston friend group. I finished with a greater appreciation for the way a different perspective can change everything we thought we understood about someone.

Final Verdict
I think one of the most dangerous assumptions we make about people is that the version of them we’ve experienced is the entirety of who they are.

All Our Nevers explores that idea beautifully through two people who have become so accustomed to protecting themselves that they sometimes mistake their defenses for independence.

What I loved about Lia and Owen wasn’t that falling in love magically erased their trauma or made them easier, softer, more agreeable people. It was that their relationship required them to reconsider the stories they’d been telling themselves about one another, and eventually, about themselves.

Lia didn’t need Owen to make her less formidable. Owen didn’t need Lia to erase the experiences that shaped him. They needed to recognize that compassion and accountability can coexist, and that understanding someone’s past doesn’t mean allowing it to dictate every relationship in their future.

Allie Moffatt delivered an emotionally intelligent, entertaining enemies-to-lovers romance with excellent chemistry, wonderfully complicated characters, and a found family I was genuinely happy to revisit.

Because sometimes the person who challenges us most isn’t the one trying to change who we are. It’s the one who recognizes the armor we’ve spent years building and makes us wonder whether we still need to wear all of it.

I received an advanced listening copy through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

This book reminded me that sometimes love isn’t the person who saves you. It’s the person who makes you feel safe enough to save yourself.

Amelia Mercado and Owen Walsh may start as enemies, with Amelia barely able to tolerate the man who seems to enjoy riling her up just for the fun of it, but underneath their banter are two people carrying wounds much heavier than either of them lets the world see.

Lia survived an abusive relationship that left scars far beyond the physical. After being strangled by her ex, Connor, she swore off relationships, and even seeing him again is enough to send her spiralling. Her trauma isn’t something that magically disappears when Owen enters her life, and that is one of the things I loved most about this book. Healing is not rushed, trauma is not romanticised, and love is never presented as a magical cure. While Owen is carrying his own childhood trauma. He grew up watching his father abuse his mother, and one particularly violent night left his mother with a broken wrist and Owen with a concussion. Being sworn to secrecy and keeping the truth from his brother, Andy, became a weight he carried for years, affecting his relationship with both his brother and his mother.

What starts as irritation slowly becomes vulnerability. They fight, they confide in each other, they become each other’s safe place and, somewhere along the way, they very unwillingly realise that they have fallen completely in love. But Owen Walsh… 🥹❤️ The way this man understands that no means no. The way he never pushes Amelia beyond what she is ready to give. The way he becomes her anchor without trying to become her saviour. THAT is how you write a safe man. He doesn’t love the trauma out of her. He simply creates a space where she can breathe, feel, heal and choose for herself. Owen wasn’t Amelia’s cure. He was her anchor. And I think that distinction is what made their love story so beautiful.

All Our Nevers is beautifully written, heartbreaking in places and incredibly tender in others. At its heart, this isn’t just an enemies-to-lovers romance. It’s a story about breaking cycles, confronting the things that haunt us, learning to trust again and discovering that being loved should never feel like something you have to survive.

This is Book 2 of the NASA series!

I was lucky enough to receive as an ARC 🥰

Give me a cocky lawyer, a fiercely independent heroine, forced proximity at a wedding and two people who slowly discover that there's SO much more beneath the surface than either of them wants to admit. I'M SOLD. 🫶🏻

Lia Mercado has her life under control. She's a talented fiber artist, has built her own social media following and is ready to take on her maid-of-honor duties for her two best friends' wedding. Everything is going according to plan…

Except for OWEN WALSH. 🙄😂
Owen is her best friend's older brother, a corporate lawyer with a cocky attitude, unsolicited advice and a smirk that apparently makes Lia want to commit crimes. And don't even get her started on his fashion choices. 💀

She can't stand him. He can't seem to stop getting under her skin. And now they're stuck working together to make sure the wedding goes perfectly.
WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?! 👀🔥

But beneath all the bickering and antagonism, these two begin to discover that they have far more in common than they ever imagined. Both are carrying scars they've hidden from the world, both have survived abuse, and both have secrets they've never trusted anyone enough to share.

And THAT is what gets me. 🥹🖤 Because sometimes the person who seems to understand you the least is actually the person who sees you most clearly once you finally let them in.

I love when an enemies-to-lovers romance goes beyond the banter and explores the vulnerability underneath. Watching two people slowly lower their walls, recognize pieces of themselves in each other and learn to trust again? MY HEART.😭❤️

The combination of angsty romance, emotional healing, wedding chaos and suspense sounds absolutely addictive. And Owen and Lia going from “I will NEVER fall for you” to potentially becoming each other's safe place?! PLEASE. 🥹🔥
☀️ TROPES:
✨ Enemies to Lovers
✨ Best Friend's Older Brother
✨ Forced Proximity

She thought he was the last man she'd ever fall for. But sometimes the person who challenges you most is the one who finally makes you feel understood. 🥹🖤☀️

I received an arc from the author in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.

First and foremost, let me just say: heheheheh

Okay with that out of the way, All Our Nevers by Allie Moffatt was a phenomenal read. I absolutely adore the grumpyxgrumpy dynamic between Lia and Owen. Plus, I am always always always a sucker for a good angsty romance with undertones of hurt/comfort.

I know I compared All Our Almosts to pwmov and Funny Story, and ironically, there were some scenes in this book that gave me similar vibes to another EmHen story: Happy Place. Specifically, during the bachelorette when they were all hanging out in the water and goofing around with each other, I was reminded of the way the friends in Happy Place interact. Plus the wedding antics of characters we know and love seen through the eyes of siblings and long time friends who haven't gotten together yet, but we know they will, reminded me of Ali Hazelwood's Problematic Summer Romance. Aka, lovers of EmHen and Ali Hazelwood's summer romances (with a touch of angst!) will absolutely adore this book as much as I did. But in case it needs to be stated, while the vibes of this book do remind me of those two books, All Our Nevers is wholly its own novel.

The pacing, banter/arguments between main characters, and scenarios they are in were all so entertaining to read. And I especially enjoyed how some things were revealed, such as the reason Owen dipped on Andy's graduation (no spoilers here though! gotta read it to find out for yourself!).

I genuinely think that Allie Moffatt will one day be known on the same level of extremely well known powerhouse romance authors such as EmHen, Ali Hazelwood and Abby Jimenez. I would not be surprised if All Our Nevers receives accolades far and wide.

And I cannot wait for the opportunity to read more of Moffatt's work. I highly recommend All Our Nevers to any and every romance book enjoyer

Thank you to @simonstream.books, @netgalley, and @allie.moffatt.author for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Lia Mercato likes to keep her life carefully organized. Between her work as an artist, her social media following, and her maid-of-honor duties for her best friends’ wedding, she’s determined to make sure everything goes smoothly. The only problem? Owen Walsh, the groom’s brother and best man.

Lia sees Owen as unreliable, frustrating, and impossible to trust. But the more time they’re forced to spend together preparing for the wedding, the harder it becomes to ignore the attraction between them. As old secrets and past hurts begin to surface, Lia and Owen must decide whether they’re willing to risk their hearts for something real.

One of my favorite parts of this book was watching Lia realize that she might have gotten Owen completely wrong.
The wedding setting gives the story a fun, cozy atmosphere, and Lia and Owen have plenty of chemistry. Their interactions are filled with attraction, frustration, and the slow realization that there’s more to each of them than the other expected.

I especially liked Owen. At first, he comes across as polished and a little arrogant, but those layers gradually fall away to reveal a much more vulnerable side. Watching Lia reconsider everything she thought she knew about him was one of the strongest parts of the story for me.

I did struggle to fully connect with the romance, though. Some of the conflicts began to feel repetitive, and the pacing slowed in places enough that I caught my attention drifting. Even so, the banter, chemistry, and more emotional moments kept me reading.

Overall, this was a light, steamy contemporary romance with a sweet message about looking beyond first impressions. A solid choice for readers who enjoy wedding settings, forced proximity, and enemies-to-lovers chemistry.

I received an arc of All Our Nevers in exchange for an honest review.
I don't know where to begin with this one. I think my favorite part was the friendships, and I really enjoyed the writing style. I also think that Owen is so caring toward Lia and is exactly what she needs.
I had a lot of trouble relating to Lia, I think largely because the way she speaks about things can be very polarizing.
I think I just needed to hear that she respects other peoples' choices and the way they live their lives, but instead I felt like there was a largely condescending tone toward anyone who lives differently than Lia. Specifically, Lia felt like she shouldn't be showing her art at a craft show because she was above that venue. Her tone and attitude toward it made it seem so demeaning to the people who make their living from craft shows. She was also so upset at the presence of children at this craft show. I understand not being fond of children and not wanting children, but they're also just kids who are trying to enjoy what's clearly meant to be a kid-friendly event.
I know this is such a small line, but it really stuck with me when Lia says "I think people who watch TV are boring and I'm better than them." I think it just sums up a lot of my issues with Lia's personality. She could have said that she finds TV boring without it becoming an attack on anyone who thinks differently.
I do feel like it's important to note that I didn't read All Our Almosts, so I didn't have any sort of initial pre-developed connection toward these characters. I think that I might have enjoyed All Our Nevers more if I'd had glimpses of Lia's personality in All Our Almosts beforehand.
But I will end this review with the fact that the writing style is fun, and I think that the background characters and friendships are an extreme strong point of this book.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

"I don't need you to change, Lia. I fell for you exactly the way you are. I want all of it, the soft and the hard, all your tenderest parts and all your ruthless ones too. I would much rather fight with you than have peace with anyone else."

Thanks to Allie Moffatt for the ARC of All Our Nevers! This series holds such a special place in my heart. I fell in love with Sophie & Andy from All Our Almosts, and I thoroughly enjoyed returning to this world for Lia & Owen's story! All our Nevers is a grumpy x grumpy, enemies to lovers, angsty love story.

This had me cackling from the first line. Lia is a hilarious FMC and incredibly relatable/easy to like. I think it is so hard to write humor into novels and Allie Moffatt made Lia seem effortlessly funny!
Underneath the banter (& all of Lia's quick wit) was a truly touching story about two hurt people finding each other. I just wanted to bundle Lia & Owen up and keep them safe in my pocket. I loved the way that Lia & Owen showed up for each other and met the other where they were at. Lia’s PTSD was really well written and I loved the way Owen noticed everything.

Owen Walsh, the green flag that you are. He was such a good book boyfriend! This man needs all the hugs. My heart went out for how he internalized his childhood trauma & viewed himself.

Special Shout Outs/Quotes I loved:
-the Shuttle Launch drinking game! It was giving True American vibes from New Girl and it was a cute little nod to their group name!
-"It's never been casual to me. Not for a moment."
-"I hope you know that no amount of feminism will make me split this bill with you"
-"I love long nails too. There's something about a woman who could claw me to ribbons with her bare hands"

Thank you Allie for the ARC! This book is one for the bookshelf!

Let’s talk about beautifully messy, imperfect humans. 🥹✨
You know those books that leave you staring at the wall because the characters felt so real it’s almost invasive? That is exactly what Allie Moffatt just did to me. All Our Nevers was is contemporary romance at its absolute finest, and I’m officially obsessed.
Here is why this indie gem earned a full five cherry blossoms from me:

The Flawed & Fabulous Lia 📱
Lia is… a lot. And I say that with the utmost respect. She is an angsty, mean-girl, needy, social media-fanatic artist and designer (who also happens to be a literal witch). Did I always like her choices? No. Did I absolutely love how she was written? 100% yes!! Moffatt brought out all of her complicated layers so authentically. She isn’t a polished, perfect heroine, and that’s exactly why she works so beautifully! I low key wanted to literally shake her for telling the neighbors Owen was being a bother now that scene lives rent free in head 🫠🫠

The Master of Baggage: Owen 🖤🧱
And then we have Owen, our male main character, who comes with a mountain of deep hurt and emotional baggage. The way his story unfolds alongside Lia’s is pure magic - so vulnerable, trying his hardest to be what everyone needs 🥹 Their relationship is completely non-traditional, chaotic, and utterly captivating - and I ate up every bit of it!

A Different Kind of Happily Ever After 💍❌
My favorite part? This book flips the classic romance script. The ultimate "happily ever after" wasn’t about a wedding. Instead, it was about the beautiful, deliberate choice of choosing each other every single day. Cue the tears. 😭❤️

All Our Nevers by Allie Moffatt
4.75⭐️

This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster and I loved it! I just wanted to jump in the book and give both MCs a massive hug, tell them that it’s okay to ask for help, and that the actions of others don’t define you or your worth. It’s heartbreaking seeing the façade and walls that are put up to protect their hearts and well-being, but I understand and empathize because trauma like that alters a person’s brain chemistry and their response to fight or flight situations. It takes a lot of strength and openness to accept help to overcome those situations.

On a lighter note, I loved the NASA friend group dynamic so much! It’s such a wonderful sense of found family (even though some are actually family) and reading their interactions always had me smiling from ear to ear, especially with their drinking games. I appreciated that they not only show their love with physical and verbal displays, but also with playful teasing and jokes.

Overall, this was a wonderful book filled with banter, comedy, flirtation/spice, and friendship, but also dealt with some heavy topics of stalking, threats, domestic abuse, and panic attacks. Allie Moffatt wrote this book with compassion, understanding, and empathy, and it was a heartwarming read!

All Our Nevers by Allie Moffat

ALC Audiobook Review | 4/5 stars | Spice: 3/5

Content warning: Partner violence is woven throughout this story and referenced multiple times. This isn’t just a brief mention, so if this is a sensitive topic for you, this may not be the book for you.

All Our Nevers was a really enjoyable audiobook. Told through dual POV, it follows Lia, who feels stuck in her career and has a less-than-stellar track record with men, and Owen, whose family relationships are far from ideal. Their relationship starts with a tentative dislike rather than full-blown enemies-to-lovers, but the banter is fantastic and makes their dynamic so much fun to follow.

The audiobook features dual narration with narrators I wasn’t familiar with, but I thought they both did a great job bringing the story to life. The humour is a real highlight (the shower chicken game deserves a special mention), and I loved watching the relationship develop. My only real complaint is that I wanted a few more chapters from Owen’s POV.

The first spicy scene arrives around the 50% mark, with a very fitting “fuck it” moment, and the spice delivers without taking over the story. I’d rate it a 3/5 for spice.

I hadn’t read the first book in the series, but this audiobook has definitely convinced me to go back and read it. It also feels like this sets things up for a third and final instalment, and I’m keen to see how the series wraps up.

Overall, a fun, banter-filled romance with an audiobook performance I really enjoyed. 4 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an advance listening copy (ALC) in exchange for my honest review.

I was lucky to be approved for a copy of the audiobook from Simon & Schuster / Simon Stream.

The story held a lot of promise and I loved the way Lia's professional journey was covered from being an influencer only for the sake of financial security to eventually pursuing arts seriously, giving herself another shot at redefining herself and allowing herself to find joy from doing what she loved when she was younger. There are many shades to Owen and I did enjoy how the author gradually unveiled the facade and the wannabe Casanova he becomes to us realising there is an emotional and sensitive man within Owen who does care about the people around him.

Unfortunately, I personally found the enemies to romance trope unconvincing. Other than a physical attraction, I couldn't understand why or how the characters could like each other beyond what they saw on the surface. Lia's attitude towards Owen was unbearable until the end of the book and, in usual circumstances I would salute his efforts to win Lia over, but she was so awful to him that I actually didn't get why he was putting up with her.

From the blurb, I assumed the whole narrative was going to be wedding planning and wedding centric but I'm actually glad we got to see Lia and Owen's life beyond the wedding and the banter when all the supporting characters were together also made this an entertaining read (the drinking game "scene" was a personal favourite!) This was a very quick read especially fun to listen to as an audiobook.

Thank you @netgalley Simon & Schuster/Simon Stream for an advanced copy of the book in exchange for an honest unedited review.

Arc Review

All Our Nevers by @allie.moffatt.author

Again thank you to @simonstream.books and @netgalley for an the e arc, for an honest review.

Lia and Owens back stories truly made me cry it's was so hard, 😢 the secrets and hidden they kept from their friends and family to protect them and carried themselves. The guilt, self doubt, anger, bitterness. How they are.

What truly got me that the threads that entangled them was that their personality are similar, they love witty banter, sarcasm especially as a defensive mechanism.

the past who made them who they are, what got me was that they saw each other with their flaws with their bitchiness and fierceness they both have in them. They love ferociously and their passionate and determined.

the enemies to lovers vibe in the story and their chemistry for me was spot on and I was entranced. Especially with how they opened up to each other, the flirtatiousness and how they pushed each others buttons but always communicate at how they knew they were wrong and actively apologised.

My most favourite is definitely the found family I just adore NASA friendship group. The entire SALON rename aswell.

It gets better and better. Just never give up on your dreams and no the past doesn't define you but encourages you to want to be a better version of yourself for you. Put yourself first and then the person you connect with and find that levitates you.

And gosh I love Owens tattoo and the stories behind them ( definitely the continuation of the bonding of his and Andys sibling relationship)

This book is the equivalent of hearing your squabbling siblings talk about their sex lives 🙈 Which is almost a quote from the book! I wanted to love this enemies to lovers slow burn SO MUCH, but turns out I only loved Owen and want to protect him from feisty Lia 🤷🏻‍♀️

"But you... you're vicious."

Owen Walsh- that protective man- gives mercurial Lia Mercato soooo much, but she is a selfish taker, trying to get as much as she can from everyone else without really improving as a human. It's either attention, money, connections, or sex, which is really immature and a sad way to live. Compared to Owen's stable, adult life, how are they a good pair? It almost seems like Lia wasn't interested in Owen until she feels bad for him. He literally shares his most vulnerable secret that he has never told anyone and she verbally insults and attacks him. I think hate her.

"... being a huge bitch, just like me". Her words! At least she knows she's a miserable human...

I don't see their relationship lasting. Even 94% in, I was screaming "RUN OWEN, RUN!!!!!" Because Lia is insane and needs to go to therapy. She admits it! Then Lia plays the victim when she's the one who never told anyone? 🙄 GIRL. She needs help, not a boyfriend 😅

Tropes: slow burn, unlikable FMC, lgbt, golden retriever MMC, forced proximity, enemies-to-lovers, opposites attract, grand gesture, hea
Spice: 5/5 🌶️
Gore: 1/5 🩸
Language: 5/5 👀
Triggers: stalking, abuse

Thank you to Simon Stream Audio and NetGalley for this ARC!

There is wedding bells, a sh*t ton of emotional baggage & a man who appears to be a walking red flag...

Damn you Lia & Owen you sure do make things more complicated than needed 🤣

Lia is fiercely independent, creative, protective of the people she loves and absolutely NOT interested in Owen Walsh. He's arrogant, irritatingly attractive, permanently dressed like he's heading into a boardroom and, quite frankly, gets on her last nerve.

Unfortunately for Lia, he's also the best man at her best friends' wedding. And we all know what happens when two people who supposedly can't stand each other are forced into close proximity. 🤭🔥

The banter, the chemistry, the tension these two just knew how to turn the temperature right up 🥵 🔥

But underneath all of that both Lia & Owen carry deep scars from their pasts. So to see their walls crumble to dust added a whole other layer to the relationship & to them individually.

What I particularly appreciated was that this wasn't simply a case of two attractive people falling into bed and magically fixing each other's problems. Their pasts are complicated, their emotions are messy, and learning to trust someone when you've been hurt before is anything but straightforward.

💕 Enemies to lovers? Absolutely.
🔥 Chemistry? Plenty.
🥹 Emotional baggage? Enough to fill an airport carousel.

A romance with sass, spice and a surprisingly tender heart.

All Our Nevers is an enemies to lovers with a top tier friends group, all the banter and tension, and lots of healing from traumatic pasts. Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for the e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

Lia is a fiery FMC who loves hard but also has a sharp tongue and strong opinions. She's suffered trauma that she kept hidden and it is coming back to taunt her. As she is elevating her professional and personal life, she finds there is much more to Owen than she originally thought. They handle situations similarly, they laugh, and their chemistry is off the charts. He can also read her, which is both a blessing and a curse. Love is shared, apologies are made, and the friend group expands. I was engaged and longing for the HEA, however, Lia's decision no matter how distraught she was to claim she wasn't safe with Owen when confronting the Connor issue, was hard for me to look past.

Owen, he has secrets and ambitions that make him grumpy and misread. However, he opens up to Lia and does he fall hard and fast! He is supportive in all the best ways, patient, and yearning for the relationships he neglected and was scared of all his life. Both Owen and Lia grow and heal so much with the love and support of each other, but Owen's commitment and care was unmatched!

✨ Thank you to Allie Moffatt, Simon Stream, Simon & Schuster, and NetGalley for the ALC and eARC. All opinions are my own. ✨

Welcome back to the Hearts of Boston series! This time, it’s Lia and Owen’s story. Lia, an artist and social media influencer, is helping her best friends plan their wedding. That means working with Owen, Andy’s brother and best man, who irritates her with his attitude.

As they plan events for Andy and Sophie’s big day, Lia and Owen spend more time together and slowly let their guards down. Owen finally shares why he kept his distance from Andy for so long, and Lia understands all too well how secrets can affect someone. As they open up about their pasts, their attraction becomes harder to resist. But Lia insists on keeping things casual—nothing permanent. When someone from her past returns, will they both be able to admit how they really feel?

Alice Way and Robin Liew Harper embodied Lia and Owen, bringing their personalities and emotions to life and making the characters easy to picture. Reading along with the eARC made for an incredible immersive reading experience.

Listen or read if you enjoy opposites attracting, a maid of honor and best man trying to keep things casual, and characters learning to share their pasts while discovering the possibility of a future together.

Another enjoyable story in this series
This is book 2 of the Hearts of Boston series and features Lia and Owen.
Owen and his brother Andy are very slowly becoming close again after being estranged for some time.
Circumstances had them growing apart and now they are reconnecting, Owen has also been spending time with Andy’s best friends.
One of them is Lia and from first meeting each other, their interactions are very frosty.
Lia is very opinionated, doesn’t like how hurt Andy was from his brothers treatment of him and certainly doesn’t make it easy for Owen.
When they are thrust together to help with Andy and Sophie’s wedding they clash often but slowly start to get to know each other.
This was a lovely story with some very serious subjects that were handled with compassion and respect.
There was drama, angst, emotional times, steamy scenes and some fun moments in this enemies to lovers romance.
I enjoyed meeting up with the characters from the first book and following along with the next chapter in all of their lives.
I had the please of listening to this story by audiobook which was narrated by Alice Way and Robin Liew Harper.
I enjoyed both of their performances and felt they did a wonderful job adding their own flare to the storytelling.
Thank you Allie Moffatt, NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook.
