Wild by Blood (Otherverse by K-Club #001) by K. Webster

Since I joined the K-Club I have been blessed to read so many short stories and quickies by Kristi. I truly had a blast with every one and this month she started something new. She started The Otherverse quickies which are about 3 chapters long. Even shorter than the other quickies which were 5 chapters long. I gave a few quickies 5 stars and I fully stand behind those ratings. 

But what I like most about the Otherverse is that beloved characters are thrown into another world in whole new scenarios. And Kristi started off with one of my favorite couples she ever created. Devon and Reed from The Wild World. I have read their books so many times and I am also madly in love with the spin-off's about their children as well.

So seeing Reed and Devon in a mafia setting instantly set my heart on fire and I absolutely devoured Wild by Blood and instantly read it two times back to back.

Reed's wife and son are murdered at the start of this short story. His daughter Devon is still alive and he is protecting her fiercely. He wants nothing more than avenge the loss of his wife and son.

But as time goes by their relationship changes and something simmers that they don't want to acknowledge. Everything changes when Devon starts to push him. She is careless and just follows what her heart tells her to do. And that is exactly what this stunning story is about.

This didn't feel like a short story at all. It felt like Krisiti published three chapters of a full length book. It felt like the story was already set up. And maybe because I hold Reed and Devon so close to my heart it was so much easier to fall into this one. They still feel like they were themselves, they were just in an alternate universe.

A part of me wants to beg Kristi to write a full length novel about this one. I loved it that much. This is by far my favorite quickie/short story she has written so far. This was an absolute masterpiece. And I just ache to read more about them in this new setting. My heart even beats a little faster just by thinking about this story and how deep the urge is to read it again and again and again.

I absolutely loved this!! I'm a fan of The Wild series and I know there was a lot of controversy around it but let's just stick with each to their own, yeah?! But Wild by Blood? Loved it!!!! And I could most definitely read more!!

In this Otherverse story, Reed Jamieson is a mafia boss raising his darling daughter Devon on his own, but Devon has her own preference of how the dynamic should be.

“It was risky coming down here when he told me not to, but I knew it would break him. I needed to break him.”

Narrated in dual POV, this novella is a quick read but it still captures the taboo connection between Reed and Devon. Reading about these characters in a completely different setting was intriguing and I look forward to reading additional books in this Otherverse series.

Remember Daddy Reed and his Devon. Well this super short story transports those favorite characters into another “universe.” One where he is a mafia king and his daughter is for no one…but him! A unique twist on this taboo story from when they have their first taste of the forbidden fruit.

Everyone knew Reed Jamison was a fearless mafia Don. But behind closed doors, no one realized the weakness he had for his daughter, Devon.

This one was a short read, but had enough plot to carry the story. It was interesting to see characters that I knew in a completely different world. Technically this can be read as a standalone, but you might appreciate the characters better if you’ve read The Wild.

Wild by Blood is a story of indulging in desires. It would appeal to readers who enjoy a quick taboo, palette cleanser read.

This short story is a no from me. The Wild was done in a certain way that made you question your morals but you still wanted more. This short story was cringy and gross. I didn’t like anything about it. I think those characters need to be left alone and not changed and put in this “otherverse” Just my opinion.
