What is here before thought describes it?
Already Here emerged from a live two-day retreat in which Terrence Stephens and a group of participants explored this question directly.
Across four sessions, the inquiry begins with something remarkably the difference between immediate experience and everything the mind says about it.
From there, the conversations move into thought and language, time and movement, choice and free will, the apparent thinker and doer, separation, and the deeply held assumption that there is a separate self at the centre of experience.
Rather than offering another philosophy to understand or a set of ideas to believe, Already Here invites the reader to look directly.
What is actually happening before it is named?
Can a thinker be found apart from thought?
Is there a doer behind what happens?
Where is the past or future outside of thought?
And what remains when the descriptions are no longer mistaken for what they describe?
Preserving the immediacy of the original retreat, the questions, hesitations, objections and moments of recognition are part of the inquiry itself.
Nothing needs to be added.
Nothing needs to be attained.
What is being sought is already here.
