Contains the first 3 books in the Purge of Babylon post-apocalyptic series, including The Purge of Babylon, The Gates of Byzantium, and The Stones of Angkor. ________________________________________________THE PURGE OF STAY OUT OF THE DARK. LOAD UP ON SILVER BULLETS. AND WHATEVER YOU DO, STAY ALIVE. Creatures that once lived in the shadows, hidden from humankind, have risen, spreading like a plague across the globe over the course of a single night. Their numbers growing exponentially through infection, these seemingly unkillable creatures have swallowed up whole cities and collapsed unprepared governments. Survivors call it The Purge. Against all odds, a disparate group of survivors has emerged from that blood-soaked night that devastated the planet and reduced humanity to an endangered species. But surviving The Purge was one thing - staying alive is another matter entirely...THE GATES OF MAN IS NO LONGER AT THE TOP OF THE FOOD CHAIN. With the loss of their sanctuary, Will and his small band of survivors are forced to seek shelter elsewhere. Following the call of a mysterious radio broadcast, they make the treacherous journey to Louisiana, where an island might hold the key to survival. Along the way they meet new survivors, clash with new enemies, and renew old acquaintances that have been forever altered. Collaborators--humans working with the ghouls--are more dangerous than ever, and the ghouls have begun a new phase of their domination.THE STONES OF THE WAR FOR SURVIVAL CONTINUES. The fight for Song Island is over. Despite suffering losses, Will and his group have claimed the island as their own and achieved the safe haven they've longed for since The Purge. Months later, Will makes contact with another group of survivors, and travels to their base in hopes of striking an alliance and gathering much-needed medical supplies. With Will gone, Lara must take up a leadership position on the island, and is immediately confronted with a difficult choice. Meanwhile, the ghouls have launched yet another startling new phase of their master plan, forcing Will to venture deep behind enemy lines to collect valuable intelligence. What he discovers will change everything.
This is an edge of your seat story. The world as we know it is destroyed in one night. The ones who have witnessed their families, friends, and coworkers be killed are confused as they watched them die, and watched them return to life. The very things that made them human were slowly stripped away as they changed into cold, mindless creatures. The world we are given is ours but it is desolate, and slowly being taken over by nature. Cars and trucks are harder to get going as they no longer have anyone to take care of them. The human survivors are not so much heroes, but people with hearts that want to help others. These are the ones who will fight to save those that can't save themselves. There are other survivors who are out for themselves and they prey on the weak and they kill whoever they can. There are those who work with the ghouls to stay alive. Some are not given a choice really. The main characters are two ex army rangers who have been the protectors and have found a way to fight back and actually kill the ghouls. This is a series of humanity in all its faults and the will to not give up when the odds of winning are at its lowest.
I enjoyed these books, for what they were worth, and will probably read the rest of the series. What I did not enjoy was the author's compulsion to describe how attractive or unattractive the female characters were, and the fact that, upon meeting someone for the first time, certain characters only rate others on their desirability. It's the apocalypse, and all they seem to think about is having sex? Is that really the priority? One day after the end of the world and couples are forming? Only because the main characters are "hot." 🙄
An exhilarating read, easy to follow and quite captivating (to a point). There are several issues I had reading the stories, mainly in specific technical issues. (People WELD plows onto vehicles not solder) The problem I had was that the mistakes took me out of the story, and it took effort to get back into it. However, mistakes aside, it's still a fun read.
I have read all 9 books in the series and if your into apocalypse type books I highly recommend this series. No lull's in the action, always wanted to read one more page. Also not the corny type where hero's never loose so you don't know what to expect. Each book makes you want to read the next one to see what will happen. Covers all emotions, Love, hate, sadness, joy. I enjoyed this series.
This set of three books caught me and pulled me down a road that was shocking, joyful, sad and hopeful. Full of action, twist and turns that make you think twice about what would you do if in the same situation. I started on book one and did not stop until I finished book three. Do not hesitate, get this series, you'll not regret it!
....is a fantastic series!!!! I just wish that I could find a list of which book is next to read!!!!! Lots of action, excitement and humor!!!!! I'm going to read this whole saga one book at a time. Hopefully in the proper order.
This was probably one of the best books I've read this year! Loved the characters found them to be awesome and loveable. The creatures were creepy to the extreme! If you like zombie apocalypse series this is a must read!
It is rare when a sci/sci series has such well developed characters wrapped solidly in to a strong plot line. This series does. I will buy the rest because I NEED to know what happens to this family of characters.
Found this after reading the AFTER THE PURGE series. Yuck.
The people in these stories are all idiots, the women are symbolic, and stupid. Who would wear high heel cowboy boots and tight pants to look sexy during the apocalypse?
Mr Sisavath has created a very scary post apocalyptic world that won’t let you go. The first book drags you in and each novel after just keeps you riveted.
I highly recommend this book, it’s character and story line development exceeds any other book I’ve read In Years. I’m tempted to start it again- I already miss my friends!
A fabulous series. I totally invested in the story and the characters. Can’t wait to read the next instalment. Never really been into this survivalist genre but such good writing has converted me.
This is not normally the genre I read. However, I started reading the first book, really expecting to stop reading it, or at least not read the other 2 books. This saga basically sucked me into the story. Needless to say, I read all 3 books and am looking forward for the next installment.
I really wanted this to be good book, been searching for a while and thought this could work, its a trilogy so perfect. Not so much. Book 1 starts out with Danny being an idiot first thing with a stupid joke. Shouldve known right then how it would go there. Our two heroes are perfect, good looking, brave badasses all decked out in their gear and guns. Nothing fazes them ever. Kate started out ok but she met Wil and turned into a whiney mess I guess only good for sex. Same with Lara. The dialog between the boys and their girls is very high school. Ghouls are 2 seconds from breaking down the door so its a good time to hug and kiss and talk about girlfriends. Ghouls are chasing them down the hall, theres so many theyre on the walls and ceiling, so close they can touch them, a hairs width away between life and death so of course Danny tells a joke. Thats pretty much the whole book. Book 2 we start with Josh, he gets attacked and while the ghoul is inches from ripping his neck off he lets out a scream then thinks oh I bet Matt will laugh at that one. He gets away only to be knocked back down again with ghoul breathing in his face and he thinks oh thats all I need is a concussion, can my day get any worse? Yeah right. I guess we know he will live. Then we have Blaine, dont know anything about him but his girfriend comes along and the first thing out of her mouth is something about her tits. And shes wearing cowboy boots....that have 3-4inch heals. Ok.....well ol Blaine gets shot up his girl in her platform boots can run like the wind and takes off but we know she'll get caught and made into a sex slave. Now theres Wil again and it starts out first thing with a really stupid joke from Danny. Thats as far as I got. Im done. I dont care about any of them. Kate was right about one thing... What is the point?
I read a lot of these post apocalyptic books, but this one grabs you at page one and doesn't let go until the last page is read. Like a rollercoaster ride it's twists and turns keep you coming back for more. P. S. I love the characters of Will and Danny can't wait to read more!
