Desiccation

Rate this book
After all Brian's hard work, all his lying, scheming and killing, a Countdown is heard once again. The life he helped bring back to the Earth disappears, and once again, he must face the herculean task of reviving the Earth and its people. Brian thinks he has it all figured out, believes he knows what to expect, but there is so much he could never dream of.

A messiah, sent from God.

A betrayal, that will break his will.

A war, unlike any the world has ever seen.

Waiting in the mountain, is the last, greatest challenge he will ever face. For though a stranger can be a terrible foe, one's family is always the most dangerous enemy of all.

This is the penultimate volume of The Seventh Age of Man, which begins in Regeneration, continues in Maturation, and concludes in Desiccation, part 2, available by mid 2015. The following in a excerpt from part 2.

"Mom worries about you."

"Does she really?" asked Brian, slightly amused. "Why's that?"

"I guess because you're all alone here. Because Gustav is . . . asleep. Because you've no one to talk to."

"But what does she really worry about?" pressed Brian.

Hei took a deep breath and said, in a low, quiet voice; "she worries that you'll kill yourself."

Without a pause, Brian said; "and what do you think?"

Hei folded her arms about her chest, and examined Brian as a doctor might their new patient. "You were working out when I came here. That isn't what a person does who is about to kill themselves."

"You're right; one doesn't improve oneself if they're about to take their own life. But, in this case, your mother's right."

Hei's face dropped, and she staggered back, as if the words had punched her in her gut.

"I'll kill myself, one day," said Brian, his gaze firm and resolute, without a trace of sadness. "Well, a better way of putting it, is that one day I'll allow myself to die."

"When's that?" she asked, suddenly scared.

"When I'm no longer needed. And it'll be a good death."
