Five women. Five secrets. One truth none of them can outrun.
Love is supposed to arrive in daylight—with open hands, honest names, and promises that don’t have to hide. But for Amaya, Sierra, Nia, Brielle, and Jayla, desire comes wrapped in secrecy, betrayal, and the dangerous comfort of being wanted at the wrong time by the wrong person.
Amaya loves a married man and learns that stolen moments can feel like devotion—until waiting begins to cost her the woman she used to be.
Sierra is caught in the ache of almost chosen, almost claimed, almost enough for a man who keeps offering feelings instead of truth.
Nia wakes beside someone else’s future and discovers that one night can expose every fault line in the life she thought was safe.
Brielle crosses a line with her best friend’s boyfriend and learns that deleted messages don’t erase evidence—or guilt.
Jayla finds betrayal in her own bedroom and must face the devastating truth that sometimes the deepest wound comes from the friend who knew exactly where to cut.
Side Chick Diary(s) is a contemporary romance and emotional drama collection about forbidden love, toxic friendship, hidden affairs, and the reckoning that follows when secrets finally step into the light.
These women are not perfect. They are lonely, reckless, wounded, selfish, tender, and painfully human. Some are the other woman. Some are the woman betrayed. Some become both.
In the end, each must decide what love is worth when it requires another woman’s heartbreak—and what kind of freedom begins when she finally stops disappearing.
Perfect for readers who enjoy forbidden romance, emotional drama, women’s fiction, messy relationships, betrayal, self-discovery, and literary contemporary romance.
I’m MRC Johnson, an author drawn to stories about love, betrayal, second chances, and the moment a person finally realizes they deserve more.
I write emotionally layered women’s fiction, contemporary romance, family drama, suspense, and revenge stories centered on characters who have been underestimated, taken for granted, abandoned, or betrayed—and what happens when they decide to reclaim their lives.
Many of my stories begin where another story might end: after the marriage falls apart, after the truth comes out, after the family chooses sides, after someone has sacrificed too much, or after life offers an unexpected chance to do things differently. I’m especially interested in the quiet transformation that happens when a character stops asking, “Why did they do this to me?” and begins asking, “What do I want my life to become now?”
My books explore complicated relationships, emotional consequences, healing, reinvention, justice, forgiveness, and the sometimes difficult decision to choose yourself without apologizing for it.
I love flawed characters, buried secrets, slow revelations, earned second chances, and endings where growth matters as much as romance.
Above all, I write for readers who enjoy watching people rise after betrayal—not by becoming untouched by what happened, but by becoming stronger, wiser, and far more certain of their own worth.
As far as I know, this was never me. But I’ve seen most of these scenarios both in fiction and in reality. And I think I feel for Jayla the most, because it’s the closest to having your own home and life violated that I’ve ever experienced myself.
Each woman made a choice, in the long run. In some, their choice caused destruction to others. In others, the destruction rained on them. This had a lot of sadness but what it rang the loudest for me was, frankly, don’t covet what others have. The 10 Commandments are meant to be lived by for very good reason.
KU and this is a favorite author of mine. I enjoyed this one a lot.
This was a good anthology for what it revealed; Women who made mistakes; Women who hurt others and women who were hurt by loved ones. Stories summarized by acknowledged wrong and determination to speak the truth; determination to only accept the truth and learn to live in the spaces where love once lived. Very bittersweet.
