Alden is not only home to the gorgeous Bowen brothers, but also to the OGs, three hilarious octogenarian grandmas who believe age is nothing but a number. After their success helping one grandchild find love, they’ve decided to move on to the next. Nothing will stop them. Not even jail…
Rachel’s upbringing was rough, but at 34, she loves the life she’s built for herself. She adores her grandmother, Alden, and her job as a mechanic. Now, if her grandma and her friends would just stop getting into trouble, everything would be perfect. She’s doing her best to keep them on the straight and narrow, but she spends more time arguing with the sheriff than working in her garage. Case in point the OGs’ latest stunt, which got all of them, Rachel included, sentenced to community service. So now she has to keep an eye on the crazy grannies and on the street teenage thugs she’s been court-ordered to teach mechanics to. And all thanks to the sheriff and that huge, unbendable stick up his ass.
Adrian Skehan, a top-notch detective in Boston, enjoyed putting dangerous criminals and drug kingpins behind bars. He loved his fast-paced, glamorous city life, but after his estranged grandfather had a major stroke, he moved to Alden, became the sheriff and now he spends his days chasing after senior citizens and dealing with the OGs –the bane of his existence— and Rachel, their obnoxious defender. Terrific career move, really. Way to screw up his life. And his mental wellbeing.
As if life wasn’t hard enough, now the OGs have decided to work on their bucket list… meaning the granddaughter and the sheriff must join forces to survive the mayhem. He likes his women… ivory-tower delicate. Not loud, highly opinionated and smelling of gasoline. She likes her men… easy-going. Not arrogant know-it-alls and sticklers for rules. Keeping these two together is a recipe for disaster. Too bad the OGs don’t see it that way.
After a colorful array of jobs all over Europe ranging from translator to chocolatier to travel agent to sushi chef to flight dispatcher, Elle Aycart is certain of one thing and one thing only: aside from writing romances, she has abso-frigging-lutely no clue what she wants to do when she grows up. Not that it stops her from trying all sorts of crazy stuff. While she is probably now thinking of a new profession, her head never stops churning new plots for her romances. She lives currently in Barcelona, Spain, with her husband and two daughters, although who knows, in no time she could be living at the Arctic Circle in Finland, breeding reindeer.
5 - "You’ve turned out to be a hell of a surprise, Sheriff…" Stars!
Elle Aycart never disappoints me with her books, and I was so happy to learn that she was returning to the town of Alden with her new The O.G’s series. There isn’t much that can top the Bowen brothers in my opinion, but the author is certainly giving them a run for their money with the heroes she has offered up so far with this series, including Sheriff Adrian Skehan; grumpy, sexy and everything you want in a fictional hero.
He was growing on her… too much.
I loved feisty garage owner Rachel as well, constantly at loggerheads with Adrian, mainly for trying to get her Grandmother and her octogenarian cohorts out of trouble, and more often than she would like a jail cell, they generally rub each other up the wrong way just by being in the same room with each other.
An unfortunate accident including a bowling ball and Taser mean that Rachel ends up becoming Adrian’s unwilling carer, but the more time in close proximity they spend with each other, the anger and disdain they share for each other turns to friendship then so much more…
I loved this book, I laughed, cried and cried while I was laughing, Elle gives her readers a bit of everything with this one, and you also get to spend a little time with the Bowen family as well, which for me is always a bonus. The author kept the drama and angst well-paced and not overly dragged out and she set up the next book perfectly in the closing chapters.
"Now it’s Connor's turn…"
Cannot wait for more, I am an addict and this authors words are my fix!

Holy crap! I miss Elle Aycart. I dare you to read the first chapter and not laugh-out-loud or get sucked in. I'm not much of a contemporary romance comedy reader, but apparently if this author writes it, I'll gobble it up. The three grannies stole the show and I'll admit contributed to my enjoyment, but it's more than just silly shenanigans.
Both Adrian and Rachel had difficult pasts. The way these two came together was like a slow burn but their clashes ... frequently with Rachel defending the OGs from the Sheriff (Aiden) were a sure sign they were going to ignite at one point. I love how the jealous moments unfolded. And the sexy scenes were hot!
I was pleased it was 270 pages and perfectly paced with great banter and no filler. It's available in Kindle Unlimited, but I loved it so much, I bought it anyway. :)

This is the second book in the series, and I would definitely recommend that you start at book 1 to get the full goodness! The OGs are a force of nature, and getting the fullness of their crazy will start your day right, and Mike and Kyra's romance is a good reason to read it too.
We start with the OGs really getting into trouble, in fact so badly that Sheriff Adrian not only puts them behind bars, but also one of their grandchildren, the feisty mechanic Rachel. He has recently moved out of Boston, and Alden's crazy residents have pushed him too far. He also doesn't understand Rachel and her lack of feminine outfits, and her constant garage smell. He is in fact a bit of an idiot at this point. It is always here that I stop and wonder how the author is going to turn such thoughts and opinions around!
Rachel ends up with community service and helps a bunch of young felons to do work in her garage. Adrian supervises, and starts to appreciate her strength of character and patience. Things turn nasty, complicated and unsettling in this book, and I loved the twists and turns which finally got there to be a romance at all. It is another excellent read, for completely different reasons.
Thank you Elle Aycart for a fun, but also thought-provoking read.
Elle Aycart is one of those authors that I accidentally lost track of as I waited for a new book of hers to be written what feels like forever ago. I was in major lust with the Bowen’s and obviously loved the writing and the characters but then there was a wait between books and they just dropped down my TBR to the point that I forgot what I loved about them. But for some reason I saw Grease Babe while surfing KU and added it to my library. Then by chance I needed a rom-com for a reading challenge so I figured what the hell.
Despite the fact it has been over 5 years since I have read any of these books I was instantly remembering why I loved them so much. Because damn are they funny. And hot. And still have so much emotion that I can’t help but connect with most of the characters. I just really wish it hadn’t been so long since I had last visited these guys, I felt like I vaguely remembered them but I wanted to be in on all the inside jokes.
It took me a while to warm up to Adrian. He was a bit of a pompous arse to be honest. He was pretty judgy and his opinions of Rachel’s femininity made me steaming mad. Every single time he thought about her it was to compare her to some barbie type ideal he had. Seriously we all know those women and yeah some of them aren’t that bad but most of them are so obsessed with their own image they can’t walk past a mirror. And they don’t think of anyone outside of how it affects them. So why he would compare her is beyond me.
Rachel was everything you could want in a friend. And there wasn’t a single thing about her I didn’t love. She was caring and loyal and she worked her behind off and looked after everyone around her. Luckily, Adrian pulled his head out and turned into a jealous possessive caveman and he wasn’t half bad at the dirty talk. The secondary characters just added to the story and I am going to have to make sure the rest of Elle’s books don’t slip down my TBR before I get the chance to read them.
Oh, how I love going back to Alden. The Bowen's will always be near and dear to my heart and this book was exactly what I needed. I giggled, I laughed out loud, and yes I even spoke to my kindle. The girls were back at it and in rare form. Shenanigans ensue and the geriatic antics had me reading this in one sitting, which I've not done in a long time.
Rachel had a rough childhood and things didn't come easy. Moving in with her grandmother ten years earlier was her chance to start a new life, little did she realize that she would be supervising the three musketeers and attempting to keep them out of jail. Adrian moved to town begrudgingly to be closer to his ailing grandfather, a grandfather he didn't much care for. In his wildest dreams, he never thought he'd spend all his time chasing after three grandmothers, and arresting them every time he turned around. With every arrest came Rachel, the loud mouthed, outspoken, petite, blond mechanic with zero filter.
Adrian and Rachel are always on opposite sides and the sparks fly. The chemistry between the two jumps off the pages and the cat and mouse left a smile on my face. In another wonderfully written book, Elle outdid herself. The entire cast was there and it was like catching up with old friends.
There's a bucket list, Alfred, street thugs, autocorrect, and a Happy Hour Cell just to give you a tease....
I can't wait for Connor's book! Is it January yet???
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
This is not your typical feel good romance book. Both Rachel and Adrian's have pasts they would rather not talk about yet each knows that secrets ferment and cause things to sour.
We know most of Adrian's secrets from the beginning and as they come to light during the course of the book. The reader can sense there's something more to Rachel but we don't find out about her past until Adrian does.
Rachel knew that her past would have a direct impact on her budding relationship with Adrian yet she keeps her secrets. And would have continued to do so until she felt it was right to spill her secrets. Rachel's plan backfired when a stranger outed her not only in front Adrian but also a handful of people she considered friends.
What happens next is that two people have to sit down and have an honest conversation with each other. That takes time when one person believes they were maliciously lied to and the other believes they are not worthy of the other.
I'm DNFing at 10%. The M mentioned preferring to be manhandled by ivory, delicate beauties and the F is supervising some kids for community service that the term "thug" keeps being used for. It's 2020, and to me it's reading like a dog whistle. I could just be being sensitive, but it's grossing me out.
Adrian Skehan, a once-upon-a-time tough city detective is somewhat bemused to find himself the sheriff of a small town where a lot of the action comes from a trio of grandmothers – the OGs – whose motto of #NeverToo OldToGetARapSheet gives them plenty of leeway to cause mayhem and public mischief.
Staunch defender of the OGs and the granddaughter of one of them – Rachel often bucks heads with the sheriff about their escapades – and one time it goes far enough that not only the OGs but Rachel herself are given community service.
The physical attraction between Rachel and Adrian is evident from the start, and Aycart once again shows her talent for writing scorching hot scenes. Sizzle! The path to coupledom is not a smooth one. Getting there requires vulnerability and communication, and this is difficult, especially for Rachel, given Adrian’s vocal assertions about the kind of woman he wants – the type Rachel is not and never wants to be.
For me, Rachel was the star of this show. Her work as a mechanic, her backstory and her devotion to her Grandma Wilma, all made for great reading.
The OG’s humorous antics and the secondary storyline with the juvenile delinquents did, for me, overshadow at times the relationship between Adrian and Rachel. Frankly, Adrian was an animal’s rear end too often and I felt Rachel deserved a lot more groveling than she got. I would have liked more focus on the relationship.
The book finishes with Greta’s grandson Connor arriving in town. It’s good to know there’s another candidate – erm … victim (?) – for the OG’s matchmaking efforts.
Rachel aka Grease Barbie aka Grease Babe, has an ornery grandma, which has 2 equally ornery accomplices, affectionately dubbed the OGs, that are always causing mischief and mayhem. Let me tell you, their shenanigans are pretty much legendary at this point, they can’t be trusted for literally a hot second. Adrian is the town sheriff and recipient of said mischief and mayhem. I loved this storyline so much, from the OGs and all their shenanigans, to the “thugs” (their words not mine) that end up being the best kids, and the towns people in general. Couldn’t get enough of it, and lost a lot of sleep finishing it. It was just so good.
This book was hilarious, not funny, but laugh out loud hilarious. And yes, I may or may not have laughed out loud on my lunch break, you know disturbing my co-workers. The OGs shenanigans, and their group chat...funny af. I honestly can’t even with all their shenanigans. And this book was just as hot as it was funny, and trust me it was laugh out loud funny, so I think you can imagine at how hot it was. Let’s say bathroom, kitchen, car hood, elevator, these two couldn’t keep their hands off each other...ever. I really loved both Rachel and Adrian’s characters, but especially Rachel, she was just so grounded and unique, it was like a breath of fresh air. Her being a kickass mechanic was such a great thing to read. And Adrian is all possessive alpha, and quite the dirty talker *winks*. HEA.
What a steamy, funny new story from the talented mind of Ms. Aycart.
This is the story of Adrian and Rachel. What a wild ride of a relationship they have.
Rachel was such a unique character! I totally admired her quirkiness, her directness and her fierce sense of loyalty. She embraces her wants and isn't afraid to get what she wants. She is the granddaughter to one of the OG's and with the help of family she tries to keep the OG's safe and out of trouble, which is a full time job.
Adrian is a man's man, a dedicated sheriff and tries hard to corral the OG's.
I enjoyed the flow of this story. I like that Rachel's past is slowly revealed and how it plays so much into the story. I was moved by the sense of family in the small town of Alden.
This can be read as a standalone story, but now I want to get a hold of the other books in this story to read more about the citizens of Alden, and of course the great group of grandmas that make up the OG's.
Rachel finds herself in quite the predicament when her attempts to stand up for her grandmother results in her ending up in jail. Granted her grandmother isn’t innocent but she isn’t about to let anyone talk to her that way and that includes the arrogant and unreasonable Sheriff.
In order to be there for his grandfather Adrian has relocated to town to take over as the Sheriff and finds that the crimes are very different than what he is used to. When he and Rachel find themselves having to work together to fulfill her community service the sparks start to fly.
Rachel is unlike any other woman that Adrian has ever known and she challenges him like no other while his overbearing attitude frustrates her to no end. With the help of some senior citizen grandmothers they are about to realize that the differences between them is what makes them so perfect for each other.
Three hilarious grandmas raining hell and havoc all over town. Pushing and Meddling with their grandchildren's love life.
The first book was about the first grandson/grandma and a second chance with his highschool sweetheart. I've read it three times.
The second book was about the second granddaughter/grandma. The granddaughter was a mechanic who owned the garage's town. The hero was the sheriff of the town. Love and hate relationship. Loved it.
The third book will be about the third grandson/grandma. The grandson is back, for good, from a long and dangerous deployment with the special corps. And about his relationship with the town's Airbnb owner who's the granddaughter of a late friend of the OG's.
The O.G's strike again!! Grease Babe was a joy to read and I laughed out loud at the antics of the matchmaking grannies. Rachel and Adrian were a great couple, the O.G's certainly know what they're doing even if the people they match don't always agree at first. With plenty of laughter, heat and the perfect amount of drama and angst, Grease Babe was a great read and one I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
Elle Aycart has a flair for realistic absurdity. The people, the town, the suspense... Delightful in all ways. This second installment of the machinations of a trio of elderly matchmaker in town is laugh outlined funny interspirsed with great sex, a few moments of intrigue and danger, and a ending that promises more fun in the next story.
It feels like I've been waiting for this, maybe that's the reason why I had super high expectations.
Rachel is the town mechanic, she's given the nickname Grease Barbie for a reason, but she's damn good at what she does. Adrian is the sheriff of Alden so the OGs' trouble-making ways are a pain in his behind. Add Rachel to the picture, who is obviously always on the grandmas' side no matter what and she's not afraid to go toe to toe with Adrian. It's an understatement that they don't get on well. But now Rachel has been arrested too and is forced into community service that means she has to teach mechanics to three teenage punks who are under Adrian's wing which means they have to spend more time together even without the OGs involvement. They are definitely not each other's types so what could go wrong, right?
While I enjoyed the chemistry between Rachel and Adrian and of course the OGs shenanigans, something was missing for me. Maybe it's because I prefer stories told in the first person, maybe it was Adrian's sometimes weird behaviour. I didn't like how it was said a hundred times what type of women he prefers over Rachel.

Hilarious introduction to a new - to - me author; but what an introduction it was!
Grease Babe introduces us to a staid, stiff collared Sheriff, Adrian and a grease painted fingers and hands tomboy mechanic, Rachel - and all out opposites attract romance with a surprise depth that will have you not only smiling but also filled with joy when you end the book!
I adored how the author has inexplicably been able to combine two individuals who have had to face their own experience with trauma with jut the right amount of humour that had me not only emotionally satisfied but also had me giggling at the antics of not just the protagonists’s connection but also at the antics of the Grandma brigade.
This combination of emotion and humour could have only worked if the protagonists’ had cooperated with the author and all things good in the universe, the MCs did a fan - freaking - tastic job of giving their best side to the author to create a romance that will make sure this author will be someone to look out for in the future!

Grease Babe was such a fun and hilarious read, I’ve laughed out loud quite a few times reading this one. I actually really loved this book, it has been a few years since I read book 1 in this series and remember not quite liking it as much as the Bowen Boys series so I was not sure how I would feel about it, but it was all awesome!
After another run-in with Sheriff Adrian Skehan, Rachel, her grandma and her two friends, who are designated as the OGs, were sentenced to community service hours. Rachel just can not help herself when it comes to the OGs, she is very protective over them and she tends to voice her displeasure quite loudly when she feels they are treated unfairly (even if they deserve it). And the person to be the recipient the most is the sheriff. The interactions between the two are seen as very combative, but the underlying attraction is very strong. With Rachel’s community service work having to do with three underaged delinquents that Adrian personally knew, he decided to supervise. They decided to join forces and call a truce. So as they spend more time with each other, their attraction to one another becomes undeniable and combustible.
This story had so much more to it, the things the OGs put the sheriff through are some of the more memorable moments, then we have the autocorrect text messages, the way Rachel interacts with her 3 charges, the dating app Rachel’s grandmother blackmails her with, and don’t get me started with the heat between Rachel and Adrian, they were scorching. But we do have some secrets that almost derailed their happily ever after, and it was a doozy, but have no fear the happily ever after made it all worth it.
I loved this book so much and I highly recommend it. Now I am anxiously waiting for the third and last grandchild of the OGs, this one looks good!
I really enjoyed Elle Aycart's "Grease Babe," a laugh-out-loud funny, steamy enemies-to-lovers romance featuring great chemistry and witty banter between main characters Rachel and Adrian. Fiery, independent Rachel didn't stand for nonsense from anyone, and she always stood up for her grandmother and her friends (aka "the OGs") even when she knew they were causing trouble. I especially loved the way Rachel put the juvenile delinquents to whom she was teaching auto repair in their place. She put Adrian in his place when it was necessary too, although she was sometimes less successful with him since he was the sheriff and had the ability to throw her in jail (and he did so at the beginning of the book).
I really liked Adrian too, and found it easy to empathize with the tough situation he was in because of his strained relationship with his grandfather. He was a little grumpy sometimes (my favorite kind of hero!), but obviously dedicated to his job, and he was very determined to help the juvenile delinquents that were assigned community service at Rachel's garage. Rachel was good for Adrian because she helped him loosen up and see things in a different light, and I loved watching their relationship blossom over the course of the story.
I laughed a lot while reading this book, and much of that was because of the OGs' shenanigans. I particularly enjoyed their response to the pictures Rachel received from the guys on the dating app, as well as the many auto-correct fails when they attempted to text. Their antics with the taser were also hilarious, although I'm not sure Adrian would agree!
Overall, I highly recommend "Grease Babe" for all fans of contemporary romance and romantic comedy. I can't wait to see what kind of trouble the OGs cause in the next book of the series.

4.5 Stars I really enjoyed this one! One if my favorite parts of the book are the OGs. They are hilarious. My grandma would fit right in with them. I really liked Adrian and Rachel. Rachel is anther favorite part of the book. Adrian and Rachel are enemies, but getting to know one another outside the OGs antics shows them they have an irresistible chemistry. I enjoyed them taking the fall though they fight it. The characters in Alden are going to make you fall in love with this book. I really want to go visit Alden. The book has plenty of heart. It also delivers on the heat. Sheriff Adrian is a dirty talker. He makes it an art form. I would recommend this one. You will laugh, smile, and fan yourself from the heat. It's a book I easily got lost in.
This is the second book in Elle’s OG series and the three crazy octogenarians are at it again! This book is about Wilma’s granddaughter, Rachel and Alden’s sheriff, Adrian. Rachel and Adrian are at odds at the start of the book owing to Rachel’s need to protect the three crazy OGs and Adrian’s duty to impose the town’s law on the three crazies. Of course, attraction grew and the sexy times inevitably happen. Elle is excellent in delivering said sexy times and the dialogue between the OGs are chuckles inducing. I highly recommend this series and I cannot wait for Greta’s grandson and the OG’s long deceased friend’s granddaughter to get together in Book 3.
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**
It's been a while since we have been able to get our hands on a book by this author and the wait was certainly worth it.
Rachel is another grandchild of the OG's and she is also a car mechanic. A regular person also fighting for the OG's as the get themselves into trouble with the local sheriff and most likely to shout at him and protect them even if she knows what they have done is wrong.
However after shouting at the sheriff ends up getting her community service with the three old ladies in which she has to take charge of three teenagers who are currently heading in the wrong direction and by challenging them with the mechanics of putting cars together and not stripping them.
Adrian is the local sheriff and has a past as a drugs narcotic detective half an hour away in Boston where he met these thugs and Rachel also spent time she would rather forget. It is with the introduction of the teenagers and having to spend time together that they both find that they are not as bad as they first thought. I loved watching these two fall for each other and find happiness and in themselves, putting the past behind them yet also lifting the lid on it.
As another grandchild arrives on the scene i cannot wait ti see how the quiet man gets his happy ever after with one of the OG's late friends granddaughter.
I am joining the OG's team in their wonderful mayhem as I am already a grandmother and need some joyous shenanigans in my life too!! This book has been a wonderful trip to Alden, filled with characters who delight and charm, providing hours of comfort, in a read which is funny, filled with warmth and positive energy. I have to admit that I was ready to shake the living daylights out of Adrian, but he was on a learning curve, albeit a steep one, and, of course, that stick up his whatsits, can't have been conducive to constant smiling 🤣🤣. I recommend that you pour yourself a glass of whatever rocks your boat, and enjoy your trip to Alden 💖💖💖💖💖
I have not read Elle Aycart before so it was going to be a bit of a surprise for me when I started her latest book, Grease Babe. But boy, was I surprised. Grease Babe may have started off slow but when it catches up, it was hot hot hot! When I started Grease Babe, it was not what I expected. It was a bit slow for my taste but when I continued reading and got to the main two characters. It was fireworks! Those two have insane attraction for each other. They may want to ignore it but you can't. They just have it, and it definitely explodes when they start dating each other.
[1.5 star] book was okay, but every chapter feels pretty long. i couldn't connect fully with the book due it has been like 4years since i read the first book, so i totally forgot what is the series about. and i really thought the series has been discontinued due the first book was published in 2014 but no news about continuation, and suddenly appeared the second book, time gap between them is kind of big.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Meet-cute: The Sheriff keeps arresting the OGs and Rachel has to keep bailing them out of jail. So the judge insists on community service and the sheriff insists on Rachel helping 3 thugs learn how to repair cars, not strip them.
Rachel has a few secrets which is the cause for the drama.
There's more about this band and their connection to Alden aside from Kyra is still unclear.
Great Great Read! I am in love. I am a totally Fangirling the OG. I want to be them in my old age. What a wonderful read. It has everything thing you want in a good book. Found myself laughing so hard during parts of the book. Pure love for this book
