Jack has s small shop filled with lots of stuff no one really wants. He also has a side business and needs someone to help with that. Marin walks into his shop with out his knowledge and it freaks him out. When he realizes she is a dragon he is really not sure he wants to hire her. He is a paranormal investigator and as a human really has no idea how to protect himself and his clients. There are several stories in this book it's a really great paranormal book can't wait to read the next book

“The Forgotten Memories” finds Jack Spirelli and his assistant, Marin visited by a women who is concerned that her recently widowed mother is being scammed by a so called psychic who claims to be able to contact the dead. Judging bu the huge rock on the woman’s finger she can certainly afford their fee so Jack takes the case.

Their client has arranged for Jack and Marin to stay at a lovely b&b owned by a friend. When Jack and Marin are awakened in the middle of the night by the owner’s wife who seems to be in a dream like state they realize that something is wrong. When they meet their clients mother they realize she is suffering from the same memory loss as the b&b’s owner. So, what is the connection? It seems that each of these women has recent met with the psychic. To make matters worse they learn that another victim recently committed suicide.

This is definitely a case where both Jack and Marin are over their heads and it is clear they will need to get more information. Unfortunately, Marin knows just who to contact and she isn’t anywhere close to want to make that call but what they learn will be both frightening and invaluable.

This was definitely an interesting and fun read. I am enjoying the way we are slowly learning about both Marin and Jack’s personal baggage with each episode. It will be fun getting to know them better with each installment. I’m really glad that I took a chance k. This series because it is quite entertaining!

A new client wants them to investigate her mother; she’s forgetting things, very specific things. Jack assumes it’s some kind of Alzheimer’s but when they check into their B&B, the owner’s wife is demonstrating very similar symptoms.
Jack asked, “Where did you meet your husband…? I’m sorry—what was his name?”
Panic flashed across Betty’s face, and her lips opened without releasing a sound. “Robert,” she finally said. “My husband’s name was Robert.” She spoke firmly. Trying to reassure herself she hadn’t forgotten? (Kindle Locations 265-268).

Conrad is a recent resident and all the victims seems to have some kind of contact with him. He says he’s a psychic but he’s not giving off any magic vibes.

As an ageing person, losing my mind is one of my fears.
Jack stared out the passenger window, considering her accusation. Bullshit. “Not at all. He rips away those things that make us who we are: our experiences, our memories, and all the emotions that go along with them. If that’s not stealing someone’s soul, then—well, it’s stealing something just as vital. Someone has to stop him.” (Kindle Locations 532-534).

Ugh *shudders*
Marin’s dragon nature comes in super useful here. And Kai, the local healer appears again.

People are losing memories, specific memories. SPI is asked to investigate.

This is an unique episode from Spirelli Paranormal Investigation series. I enjoyed this story which is full of well crafted characters in an interesting situation. The interaction between the two members of the team is witty and interesting. The storyline flows quickly and smoothly and is filled with with surprises, unusual paranormal creatures. The mystery captures your interest and is engaging until the end. I think if you like short paranormal stories that are well crafted and interesting. I look forward to reading episode three.

Jack and Marin are on the trail of someone who is stealing memories in a small town. Finding the person responsible, Conrad Blevins, is not a problem, escaping with their lives is!
“The Forgotten Memories”, second episode in the Spirelli Paranormal Investigations series, read so well that I was at the end almost before I had finished my cup of coffee.
Again, no cliffhanger!
We learn a little, very little, about Mirin's relationship with her father, and Jack appears to be warming to his snarky assistant.
All good stuff :)

Jack and Marin are hired to investigate whether Conrad is a real psychic medium or not. They find that Betty is having memory issues - and she's not Conrad's only client with a faulty memory.

Great little story

I liked this little story more than the first one. The characters are settling into themselves and I found the world building and plot more original.

The second episode is just as good as the first, and just as satisfying. You don't need to read the first Episode to enjoy this one, but you'll want too.
Marin and Jack are settling in working together and his shop is much busier then he thought it would be when he picked its location.

Dottie is the new client who saw his sign in the window on the way to her trendy hairdresser. She seems like a fluffy headed rich lady who's worried about her mother being coned by a psychic.
More is going on than just a simple con and more people than just Dottie's mom seem to be losing memories, maybe their minds, and in one case, a life.
This is a new type of 'magic' that they realize might have been around for over 250 years, that they have to defeat.
Jack and Marin still give each other a 'hard time', still tease each other, but their also starting to respect each other more and a are working together as a team.
This episode is also a complete story with a satisfying conclusion . Jack and Marin are great, the story interesting. I love reading about their adventures and you will too.

I received an arc of this story for an honest review.

Episode 2 is one of my favorites because I just couldn't figure out what kind of magic was at play. The danger also ramped up for this one. Marin's dragon abilities are displayed in cool ways as well.I got the 1-3 combo espisodes as a deal-of-the-day thing but it would be well worth paying for. Each "episode" is somewhere between short story and novella length and is packed full of inventiveness. I really love the character of Jack, a forty-ish guy who is a human interfacing with the paranormal world for a fee. Marin is kickass but not in a hot-headed, leather-wearing way, she's just completely calm and and on top of crises. Marin is a constant puzzle. He relies heavily on her and frequently wonders--since she doesn't need the money--why in the world she works for him. The byplay between Jack and Marin is a lot of fun. Jack is extremely resourceful and someone who can think on his feet; I love his plans and seeing what his responses to the mysteries and dangers are. This leads to some pretty dangerous confrontations in this episode.

I enjoy these short adventures, and Jack and Marin's squabbling/joking partnership. However, given the ruthlessness of their original plan for the takedown, I've got to say I was glad the creepy bad guy stopped that attempt, because in doing so, he gave absolute proof of his guilt. Unfortunately, how they actually do "kill" him felt a bit anticlimactic, after all their worry about possible indestructability.
I don't think I've seen quite this use of magic/magical beings before , so points for originality. It's too bad the power felt too scary/ominous for further investigation . Mind-alteration is one of my personal freak-me-out triggers, so I wanted them to learn/do more.

So I really like this story and series, and I'm not trying to be nitpicky, but this one contradiction is driving me crazy and it's not even a really bad contradiction. It doesn't have anything to do with the plot. It's just there, and that means the problem lies with the viewer, not the station nor the set.

At 46%: "Tidy hair, a crisp sleeveless shirt, and no makeup that he could see…"
Three Kindle page turns later: "And her eyes had purplish shadows that had defied her attempts to mask them with makeup."

Sorry, Author Kate Baray. I just can't help it…

Spirelli 2

Short to the point, easy read finish in less than hours. Still a worthy read in the paranormal novels or should I call it a novella.
