Being miserably sick this week, I figured I'd read some comics and graphic novels to keep things easygoing. I was a bit disappointed that this turned out to be more "novel" than "graphic." Most of the story is presented in the form of a written diary with nary a doodle in sight. This is unfortunate because Wood's work, being easy on the eye as usual, might have made up (to some degree at least) for the shallow, if varied, characterization. Despite a strong premise, most of the characters lack solid motivation and the plot is haphazard. Disconcertingly, the prose contains a few vaguely hostile comments about homosexuals that don't seem to serve any discernible purpose in the story.
Very underwhelming, overall.
