Before Lennox Steele became the man people learned not to cross, he was just a young man in love with Reiana Scott. What they had was real and strong enough to feel like forever—until one moment changed everything and sent them in opposite directions with wounds neither of them fully understood. Years later, Reiana has rebuilt her life and created the kind of stability she once had to fight for. Lennox has become colder, sharper, and harder to reach, carrying the weight of the man his past forced him to become. When circumstances pull him back into Reiana’s world, neither of them is prepared for the feelings that resurface or the truths that begin unraveling around them. The past they thought they survived was never as simple as it seemed. With hearts still tangled and secrets finally coming to light, Lennox and Reiana are forced to face what really tore them apart—and whether their second chance is worth the cost neither of them saw coming.
One thing tacarra going to do is make you fall in love with her character’s. Lennox and Ree love them down 😍 I was so glad they put their differences to the side and was able to get their happy ending. Now I’m not going to lie in the beginning I was a lil bit eff with Taryn I didn’t know if she really was ride or die chick to her friend or some B🤬who you had to watch around your man🤔but she turned out to be one of the realest, crazy friend ever. Kree I swear I was with Ree saying she can get everytime she seen her I would had been the same way😡 Ree mom 🗑️ how you blaming her for an accident that she didn’t caused smh. My boy boosie had me weak he played no games when it came down to his mommy🥰and babeee that boy said any and everything that came to his mind😂. I really enjoyed this second chance love story definitely will be adding this to my collection.❤️ 5stars and chef kisses to my girl Tacarra😘
I loved this book! This is one of my favorite tropes, and Reiana and Lennox’s complicated history had me invested.
But Lennox?! Sir. 😩 I feel like he was forgiven WAY too easily. Kree absolutely played a part in what happened, but Lennox wasn’t innocent. He took Kree’s word instead of going directly to Reiana and having a conversation with the woman he supposedly loved. Then he turned around, slept with Kree, and ended up having a child with her?! For me, that made him just as responsible for the situation. He made the choice to entertain Kree instead of communicating with Reiana. And had he not done that, he probably would have known about his son much sooner. I wanted Reiana to make Lennox WORK for that forgiveness because his actions had consequences too.
The drama, betrayal, secrets, and second chances were exactly my kind of read. Lennox just needed a much longer stay in the doghouse before I was ready to forgive him. 😂

🫧Besides the mains not even sharing a page until close to 40-ish%, the unfolding of the secret baby trope left a bitter taste in my mouth. And the reasons for the breakup were so immature I didn't care to see how they would put that aside to move forward.
🫧So many characters had a smear of smugness to them for no reason. A smug smile here and there does not make for a fun read. I disliked everybody.
🫧The book pacing was "a thing happens for the MMC, next scene the MMC investigates something" + "a thing happens for the FMC, next scene she's yapping to her friends." + MMC recaps what he investigated to someone + FMC recaps exact thoughts and last scene actions with a friend; they laugh or have thoughtful thoughts. Lather/Rinse/Repeat until 56% at least.
🫧There was no romance arc, at least by 56%. I DNF'd, so I can't say when it finally started, but up to that point there were wholly separate scenes of the mains rehashing feelings from the breakup. Essentially, this is a Second Chance Romance, but the mains not even being remotely close until 56% of the book made me lose interest in the "love story".
🫧My main reason to DNF..... Ree truly allowed her 7-year-old to think his father abandoned him because he did not want him. I was floored that she endorsed this and allowed her child to feel this way. A Black mother to a Black 9-year-old boy; the things that popped out of Rhyse's mouth, I did not consider cute or funny. He would drop these lines and the adults would give a funny quip and Ree would usually say "boy don't talk that way". Annoyed. I swear I thought he was 15 with the things he said.

I really like the premise of this book but I must admit that I was seriously aggravated by the entire situation. Reiana is a single mother to 7 year old Rhyse. She apparently left town when her man dumped her and responded negatively to her text when she told him that she was pregnant. Her ex, Lennox has a five year old daughter with a woman named Kree. Well, Kree used to be Reina’s college roommate. Convenient…right. Well, Lennox is on a job and he sees Reiana and her little boy who apparently is his twin. He is shocked and flabbergasted and wants answers. He shows up at Reiana’s home. Reiana is pissed and rightfully so. She has a life and doesn’t understand why Lennox has shown up after all these years. Well, after a heated discussion, the truth comes out and they discover that they’ve been played by Kree who conveniently told Lennox that Reiana was cheating! 🙄 For a street smart ninja, he was hella dumb and gullible. He was so distraught over the breakup that he fell between Kree’s legs quickly and Kree apparently answered the text that Ree sent. Fast forward to the present when everything’s out in the open and Lennox is getting to know his son and introducing his kids to each other. He and Reiana pick up where they left off a bit too fast for me. I needed Ree to be a bit more angry. Lennox brought all their drama on himself cause he ain’t had no business entertaining Kree’s simple ssa!! Anyway, I’ve ranted enough!!! Despite all this ish, I really enjoyed the book. The author did her job because she had me all in my feelings. I experienced many emotions but I was still rooting for Lennox and Ree. I still can’t stand Kree!! She a low down dirty heaux!!
Boosie was the MMC lol. He didn’t play about his mama and he made sure people knew his daddy wasn’t nothing to mess with!!! I loved his character!!
Boosie mama/Ree love how she was a strong independent woman. But she wasn’t so harden by the independence or her past that she didn’t let love in.
The best friends/sister cousin I love them girls down. They rode for my boo!!! Lena was a fool and I was here for her commentary!!! She had me rolling. Her/Tay/Boosie/Lenny was some characters ya hear me!!!
That Kree should’ve got dog walked every time my boo saw her!! I kind of wish there was update in the epilogue to see if she was still jealous and miserable
That mammy deserved to get the brakes beat off her ssa!!!
Overall: I love how Ree and Lennox had a grown up conversation after the initial one and laid everything out there and focused on their family. My heart broke for Boosie and it made me want to put a hot one in Kree. That hoe was evil and lowdown
This was a smooth read with characters I could rock with. The main conflict leaned so heavily on miscommunication and misplaced trust that it felt more preventable than pressing. Too many assumptions were treated like facts, while the characters had clear opportunities to ask direct questions, compare what they knew, and stop the situation from spiraling.
It was giving keep your friends close and your enemies closer—but somebody definitely should’ve fact-checked the situation first. 😂 Lennox showed some growth, but with the kind of work he does, sir… you KNOW better than to run with half the story without checking in with Ree! Kree definitely was the Babymama from hell🤣. You can’t be out here firing off assumptions like you’re at the gun range without checking your target first. The conflict had potential, but I needed the characters to do more than react to incomplete information before the story pulled me fully in.
I love a second chance romance. It always gives me the feels. Lennox and Reiana missed eight years because of jealousy. That green-eyed monster is the devil. Kree was out of pocket for the mess she did. Unfortunately for her, she still didn't get what she wanted.
It took Lennox accepting a job to reconnect with Reiana and discover that he had a son. Once it was verified, it was all gas and no breaks. Things took a turn when Ree and Rysce were taken, but Lennox took care of that as well.
Tacarra, what a good read. I enjoyed this read. I really loved Lennox he was just what Reiana needed. Although, it was some pieces to the puzzle that cost them so much. It's funny how much a person will believe the worst in you when they are supposed to love you manipulation is a serious thing. It doesn't matter though truth will always win in the end. Hurt turned to healing, misunderstanding turned to love that can't be unbroken. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Relana got folded, I mean folded too easy 🤭. Lennox didn't do nearly enough groveling for me and got the draws raw on the first night!?
The man missed out on 7 years with his son because he listened to a 🐍. Jumped in said 🐍bed first chance he got which proved intention, then stayed with said 🐍 ( bump whatever he talkin' bout).
The award for worst MMC goes to this character. Booo!
I really dislike stories about weak FMC. Spoiler Alert. Story started off well but then immediately it plummeted. There’s no way someone can claim to love you but immediately believe a lie and cut you off without talking to you.. Then to add insult to injury to start sleeping with your friend for years. Yes, the friend lied but MMC was at fault for immediately believing said friend… The FMC just immediately forgave him like what…
This such a good story. These kids was too grown for me. Lol! Rhys with all that cussing and Lennon with her little manipulative self. I needed Kree to get tagged one more time. Resined mother was dead as wrong. I loved Lennox sister Lena. She was Kree tapped too. I do think that there were some editing that needed to be done. Other than, the story was good.
I don’t like friendly 🥷🏾s! Lennox never should’ve been that close to one of her friends in the first place for him to even believe what she was saying. Reiana didn’t even make that 🥷🏾 work to get back into her life. She took him back WAY too fast, and I don’t like that. 😒
The book was good, the couple was TRASH. 🤣🤣🤣 But those kids were HILARIOUS!!! 😂
Lennox and Reiana let someone's lies pull them apart. But fate brought them back together again. I loved this story. Lennox came with intentions regarding his son. He was not playing. Good book!! This was a new author for me but I do intend to check out more of her catalog!!
Who knew a mission would turn into finding out the love of your life skipped town and had a son you knew nothing about. Yet it appears that she was keeping a secret from you or ran away without telling you. Just to find out someone close to you both envied your relationship so much that they created storms and confusion!
I loved watching Lennox and Reiana reclaim their love story. Though eight years had passed between them, jealousy—stirred by Reiana's best friend—created a painful divide. A son grew up without his father. Reiana had built a life for herself and her son with a man who never truly had good intentions, as he was living a double life.
This was a cute love story, 2nd chance for the win. So glad they made up and put their family 1st. Little Rhyse was the MMC of this love story not Lennox. I really enjoyed this book Author Lady did her thing once again..
I love the way this all played out and kree got them 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾 and was still running her trap lol and those two kids get to see each other and get on each other’s nerves great job
Tacarra did it again. The character development was excellent. This is my favorite trope and Tacarra always writes it best. This was a great book. A must read.
I enjoyed this second-chance romance. This was definitely a different take on the second-chance trope, and honestly, I wasn’t mad at it!
The characters were good, and of course, I’m always here for good supporting characters. They really helped fill in some of the missing pieces and gave more insight into what happened during the break between the two main characters. And listen, even the kids were good in this one!
This story came with drama, spice, some violence, and a few good hidden secrets that kept things interesting. Overall, this was a good time and a solid second-chance romance.
I’m always here for a man ready to put hands on someone to protect his woman and a woman who is independent and not always looking to be saved.
