On the first day of Latin Class Lara finds herself quickly entangled with her Latin professor. A relationship blooms, spirals and spins with secret rendezvous under the cover of little white lies. It's his voice, his good looks, and that commanding presence that draws her in deeper. What Lara doesn't know is there's evil afoot. It knows and sees too much. What evil discovers just might be Lara's undoing. What happens when she trusts the one person she shouldn't? Evil is so enticing and irresistible.
Lilith Lo is an excellent writer. She crafts multi-dimensional characters and keeps us hooked to them. Lara's desire, confusion and angst came through clearly. The story starts as a passionate illicit affair between a student and her profession, which is quite hot. Then it evolves into a thriller/mystery and hints at something possibly darker - or is Lara just paranoid? I do not want to give anything away, the uncertainty is definitely part of the draw. My only complaint is that I wished Lilith would have written some of her sex scenes a bit longer, just because I wanted more!
