Lilith Lo is an excellent writer. She crafts multi-dimensional characters and keeps us hooked to them. Lara's desire, confusion and angst came through clearly. The story starts as a passionate illicit affair between a student and her profession, which is quite hot. Then it evolves into a thriller/mystery and hints at something possibly darker - or is Lara just paranoid?
I do not want to give anything away, the uncertainty is definitely part of the draw. My only complaint is that I wished Lilith would have written some of her sex scenes a bit longer, just because I wanted more!
