Alexandra Vesant is stunned to learn she’s inherited a fortune and great property from her distant relative Lady Amelia Whithurst-Browning. She flies to England, a place she’s loved all her life, to take possession of her inheritance. The manor is lovely, the lands are lush but not all the people are warm and welcoming.
Robbie, a handsome guy she meets at a pub is different. His sexy grin and smoldering eyes reel her in and she quickly finds herself sharing the passion of a lifetime in his arms. Their steamy romps leave no time for deep conversation about kith and kin. To her surprise she discovers he’s Robert Grey, the son of the Earl of Kent--certainly, he’s no fortune hunter. Robbie feels the same about Alexandra and wastes no time introducing her to his family. Though his parents are cold and distant, his sister is very friendly and his brother, who was first standoffish, is actually a charmer who even flirts with Alexandra.
But her pleasure at his siblings’ acceptance is overshadowed by the news that Lady Amelia’s death is being investigated as a murder and the Greys are suspect. One of her own staff warns her to be leery of Robbie because he and his family have a strong motive—they wanted Lady Amelia’s manor house and lands. Alexandra refuses to believe Robbie’s involved. But the seed is sown and doubt rears its ugly head. Robbie has shown her the heights of heaven with just a touch, but will he put her there permanently.
The blurb for this book is very misleading. The first half of the book is one repartition after another about Alexandra and her life in the states and inheriting her Great-Aunts estate. The author then spends an inordinate amount of time explaining how Alex tries to meet her neighbors by going door to door. When that fails, she throws a party and fairs no better. We finally meet Robbie well after the halfway point and then it's just sex, sex and more sex with a few hints of mystery thrown in here and there. By the way, the sex scenes aren't all that good either. Not impressed and will defiantly NOT be purchasing the other two parts of the story. Boring!
