Eclipse doesn't advertise. You don't stumble into it — you find it the way you find things you've been secretly looking for. And after years of wanting what I'd been told I wasn't made for, I finally let myself walk through the door.
Dominic Laurent built Eclipse on one principle: the right match changes everything. He took one look at me and said he already knew who that was.
Desperate for anonymity, I chose a blindfold for my first scene.
I should have asked more questions.
Because the man waiting in Suite 7 is Kane Sinclair — controlled, and the last person on earth I should want. My best friend's brother. The man whose buttons I have spent years relentlessly pushing.
He recognized me instantly. He should have walked away.
He didn't.
Now we're trading sharp words in the daylight and breaking rules in the dark. And the deeper it gets, the more I understand what I'm actually risking.
Falling for him was never the real risk. Lying to his sister — my best friend of nine years — is.
Marlyn Love writes contemporary romance with emotional depth, playful banter, and open-door heat. Her stories follow flawed people navigating complicated lives—and discovering what happens when they dare to let someone in.
She is the author of the Boston Romance Series, a world of interconnected standalone love stories, and The Eclipse Suites, where desire, trust, and emotional intimacy meet. Her standalone Christmas novella, Wrapped Up, offers a shorter escape with plenty of heat.
Based in the Netherlands, Marlyn spends her time writing, enjoying life with her family, and getting lost in other people’s romance novels. As both an author and a reader, she loves undeniable chemistry, tenderness in unexpected places, and happy endings that feel earned.
There are books that gently nudge your emotions, and then there’s Suite 7, which feels like the universe grabbed you by the ankle, dragged you into a velvet‑lined fever dream, and whispered, “Sweetheart, you’re not leaving this story sane.”
Eclipse isn’t a club. It’s a summoning circle. It appears only when your soul finally admits it’s starving — for intensity, for danger, for something that doesn’t feel like the beige life you’ve been duct‑taping together.
And our girl? She walks in like she’s done pretending she’s fine. She’s giving: “I’ve been told I’m not built for intensity — watch me detonate that lie.”
She chooses anonymity. She chooses a blindfold. She chooses mystery. She thinks she’s making a controlled decision.
Babe. She is NOT.
Because Suite 7? Waiting inside? KANE. SINCLAIR.
Her best friend’s brother. Her lifelong irritation. Her emotional kryptonite. The man she’s spent YEARS poking like he’s a malfunctioning vending machine that owes her snacks.
He’s controlled. Composed. Weapon‑grade dangerous in a way that makes your stomach do gymnastics and your brain file a missing persons report.
And he recognizes her instantly. Of course he does. Of course HE does.
And instead of walking away like a sensible adult? He stays. He stays knowing exactly who she is. He stays knowing exactly what this means. He stays knowing this is a terrible idea wrapped in a catastrophic idea dipped in a nuclear idea.
Their dynamic? Bestie, it’s feral chaos with emotional teeth. It’s giving: “I hate how much I want you and I hate that I hate it.”
Daylight? They’re snapping at each other like two raccoons fighting over a shiny object. Night? They’re breaking rules like they’re allergic to good decisions.
And the EMOTIONAL STAKES? Oh babe, they are unhinged.
She’s spiralling because she finally found the intensity she’s been craving — and it’s attached to the one man she should avoid like expired sushi.
He’s spiralling because he’s been pretending he doesn’t see her — and now he can’t unsee anything.
But the REAL danger? Not the connection. Not the intensity. Not the emotional free‑fall.
It’s the lie. The one hanging over everything like a chandelier about to snap.
Because falling for Kane? That was inevitable. But lying to his sister — her best friend of nine years — that’s the part that could burn her entire life down.
Why 4 stars? Because this book hits EVERY forbidden‑emotion button. It’s messy in the right ways, sharp in the right ways, and absolutely addictive. It’s giving:
identity‑reveal chaos
best‑friend’s‑brother meltdown
emotional ferality
“oh god this is going to ruin everything and I want it anyway”
Suite 7 is about stepping into the version of yourself you’ve been terrified to claim — and discovering the one person who sees you more clearly than you ever expected.
It’s bold. Chaotic. Emotionally reckless. Deliciously tense. And feral enough to leave claw marks on your soul.
Suite 7 is Book 1 in The Eclipse Suites series and if you love a best friends brother, enemies to lovers, sizzling chemistry, secrets and twisting in BDSM Romance, I would recommend this book. I loved how the author brought Kane and Vera to life, they challenge each other in so many ways. Vera is curious and wants to explore more and meets with the owner of Eclipse...a BDSM club. When the owner ensures a perfect match...Vera finds behind the blindfold her match is Kane, whom is her best friends brother. What starts out as a "one time" things becomes more as Vera and Kane explore D/s .....lines blur and they become so much more to each other. Keeping the secret is hard......until it is no longer a secret....
I love the trust between Kane and Vera and what they teach each other. This is a very good story and I am looking forward to more to this series.
Suite 7 by Marlyn Love was such a fun, steamy read! I’m always up for a romance with chemistry, drama, and characters who keep me invested, and this one definitely kept my attention. There were plenty of moments that had me smiling and a few that definitely turned up the heat!
It was an easy book to get wrapped up in, and I really enjoyed the ride. If you’re looking for a romance with a little drama and a lot of spice, this one is worth picking up!
Within the first few pages of Suite 7 I was hooked. The author had me sucked into a world I’ve read about so many times before. However every author writes this world differently and this one is no different. However I think one pulled me in the fastest. The book description is exactly what this book is, so if you have triggers and this book will potentially set them off, you’ve been warned. Otherwise jump on in, if BDSM romances are your thing. Vera and Kane are constantly at each other’s throats but they tolerate one another for multiple reasons, one of which being Sloane. The best friend & sister. However Vera has a part of her she’s been wanting to explore, a part of herself that’s been suppressed for 1 reason or another. She has desire to submit, to give up the control she constantly leads her life with. However the owner of Eclipse feels it’s more than that, and he’s not wrong. She wants to submit but wants someone who is will to be part of a dynamic that allows her to push back because she’s always in control. What she didn’t expect was to be matched with Kane of all people. Kane can’t believe the one person he’s always wanted is the person in front of him right now. Vera, his sparring partner. A person he would rather argue with constantly than not have her in his life and because of that he has to let her know. When he does she’s startled and not sure how to proceed, however she chooses him anyway. He has everything she needs even if she doesn’t know it yet. The question is how is this going to affect their lives outside of Eclipse, but despite that she can’t deny what she wants and that’s to have Kane as her Dom. Can they keep it to themselves? Will Sloane find out? This story answers those questions as well as how their dynamic turns into so much more. They learn each other on such a level that the chemistry can’t be denied. But are they ready to deal with the consequences and potential fallout? If you are like me and want to know more you need to dive in now. It was sooo worth it. I couldn’t put it down. It was just one more page and that one more page turned to finished and lack of sleep. But again it was worth it! So jump on in!
Suite 7 is a new book by Marlyn Love that is a spicy, emotional read that really pulled me in from the very beginning and didn’t let go until the last page. The chemistry between Vera and Kane gave me so much tension and angst that I couldn’t put my Kindle down. With Kane as her brother’s best friend and Eclipse's secrecy, this whole book had an air of darkness and sexiness that made it that much more fun to read. When Kan recognized Vera during her anonymous experience, it just turned up the heat between these two and made the next morning even hotter. The push and pull between these two was so great to read about. What I really liked about this story was not only the steam, but the build up of trust, exploring the vulnerability and building on the relationship they had before Eclipse that really gave this book something extra. Vera and Kane’s story really gave the perfect combination of teasing, arguing, and undeniable attraction p-ul that made this story just light up for me. Adding to that, Vera’s relationship with Kane’s sister, and trying to keep her two worlds separate, added a layer of drama that just made the book that much more interesting to read. I kept wondering how everything was going to shake out for Vera throughout this book, if she could have her cake and eat it too. This book was definitely spicy and had several BDSM elements, so it may not be a read for everyone. This is one to really check your trigger warnings on. But I love a good dark romance, especially one that focuses on BDSM romance done right. As the beginning book in a new series, from a new-to-me author, this is one series I can’t wait to see more of in the future.
Suite 7 by Marlyn Love has a bit of so many of the things I love in a romance novel. Being a BDSM book, it’s rather spicy which I love. 2 of the main tropes are also ones I particularly enjoy. It’s a Best Friends Brother and also Enemies To Lovers so I just knew there was a good chance that I was going to really enjoy this book, and I really enjoyed this book. Suite 7 is a room in BDSM club Eclipse and it’s where Vera has her first BDSM experience. Being blindfolded she wasn’t initially aware of the identity of the Dom chosen for her: Kane Sinclair, brother of her best friend Sloane who she sparred with every time the two of them met. Kane knew he should have walked away but he just couldn’t do it. Suggesting an ‘arrangement’ Kane and Vera continue to meet, however Vera is struggling with keeping this secret from Sloane but she’s just not willing to give Kane up. What will happen when Sloane finds out the secret that Vera has been keeping from her? Will this end their friendship? Will it affect Sloane’s relationship with the brother she adores? This book takes you on a roller coaster journey. I was gripped from the very beginning and didn’t want to put this book down. Definitely recommend this book.
This is a book only for those over 18 with a lot of explicit scenes throughout.
In the darkness, sometimes you want something which you have been told you cannot have because you are too much for it, or you are not suited for it, but at Eclipse, you are accepted, looked after and never treated as too much, but you are also partnered with someone who also needs what you do and it is a very strict policy and I have finally plucked up the courage to step through the doors myself.
As soon as the interview is over and I have finally let out what I have kept hidden for years, all I have to do now is wait and it doesn't take long for the owner to find me a match, unfortunately when I step into the room for my first session blindfolded, the last person I expect to be there is the brother of my best friend, Kane Sinclair and that is where it should have ended, but it doesn't and now things are getting complicated.
As the weeks pass and we delve further into an arrangement, lines begin to blur and soon things are happening which neither of us can let go, but there is one problem, Sloane, how will she react to this seemingly impossible pairing and will she be able to accept this new reality? This is a spicy romance with secrets, truths and revelations throughout.
Suite 7: A Best Friend's Brother BDSM Romance (The Eclipse Suites Book 1) by Marlyn Love. 4 of 5 Stars.
An enjoyable best friend’s brother romance with added BDSM vibes. Dominic Laurent built Eclipse on the principle that, “the right match changes everything”. He took one look at Vera and told her he knew which Dominant she needed. For their first scene she meets him blindfolded, as she wants to keep her identity secret. However, the man in Suite 7, recognises her instantly, as it’s her best friend’s brother, Kane. Instead of walking away he stays, and soon they are breaking rules in the dark, whilst pretending nothing has changed between them during the day. Having been best friends with his sister for nine years, Vera hates having to lie to her, but the more time she spends with Kane the deeper their relationship gets. I liked the dynamic between Vera and Kane and their chemistry sizzled off the page, and led to some rather steamy BDSM scenes. The fact that Kane was Vera’s best friend’s brother added to the overall story, and the added drama along with the romance kept me turning the pages.
Vera has been feeling like she needs something she cannot find. She goes into an elite club looking to sign up And find someone who can help her. She needs someone to take control since she’s always in control. The owner of Eclipse promises he will Pair her up With the perfect match but it can take a few days. When she is paired up, she requests that she’s blindfolded going into the room. When she gets into suite 7, the one there waiting for her is none other then her best friends brother….the one she always argues with about anything and everything. Are these two actually Compatible? Kane has always been attracted to Vera. He cannot believe his eyes when she walks in. Even blindfolded, he knows it’s her. These two definitely give it a chance but both are so worried what will happen when Sloane ( his sister and her best friend ) finds out. They spend a few weeks together getting to really know eachother and they decide it’s what they both want. They have it planned to tell Sloane together but when she walks in and finds them together just a few days before that, everything gets turned upside down.
How will Sloane react when she finds out Kane is the mystery man that’s been occupying her best friend for the last 6 weeks and he’s the reason, Vera hasn’t been readily available when she has needed her? Will Sloane ever be able to forgive her brother for stealing her best friend AGAIN? Will she ever forgive Vera for her part in this too? This was definitely a great read from beginning to end. I couldn’t put the book down.
This essentially is a book about a triangular relationship. We have Sloane, a delightful young woman who has an older brother Kane and her best friend for many years Vera.
Vera and Kane have always had an abrasive relationship where they tend to argue over anything with neither willing to back down. Each one delights in winding the other up, much to the amusement of their friends.
Vera's previous romantic relationship has broken down and she decides to act on her repressed feelings by seeking out a BDSM club where the owner undertakes to match Doms and Subs. Of course it turns out that Kane is Vera's match.
They start what they call an arrangement which then becomes more personal and intense. The real tension and drama in the book, however is due to them both keeping this a secret from Sloane.
It all works, there is some spice and BDSM and if the two of them act stupidly you can see that others might be just as stupid in real life.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This one has all the heat and sass you might need. We have Vera who is best friends with Sloane and she tells her everything, well almost everything. And then you have Kane who just happens to be Sloane’s brother. When Vera decides she wants to learn more about her submissive side and if she is cut out to give up control. She is paired up with none other than Kane, who when both of these two are in a room together seem to not have any type of argument where they both have to be right. Either over their work or even something silly as a cactus being named Gerald. You will see how they both learn that what they think they are lacking was standing right in front of them for years. It does not help that Kane has wanted Vera for awhile but never really acted on it, and she never thought he was interested due to all the Sinclair-Beckett smackdowns they have had over the years. Here you see both finally let go, but will Sloane be in the crossfire of their relationship and will it be able to withstand the betrayal. Read this to see just what happens and if they can both survive each other.
I genuinely thought I knew what I was getting into here okay, this is not my first spice-tastic BDSM rodeo. But then Kane showed up and ruined my life for the night. I’m not always a fan of the best friend’s brother trope, but this author put a bit of a different refreshing spin on it which I appreciated. If you haven’t taken note from everything so far, this is a spice-filled BDSM emotionally tense romance, so prepare yourself accordingly. Vera and Kane have a unique chemistry that feels sharp and personal. Kane is so controlled and infuriatingly calm that every time he finally cracks, it feels like watching a perfectly organized room catch fire. What really got me, though, was that the biggest problem wasn't even falling for him because okay maybe I also fell for him, but it was knowing exactly whose heart they were risking by keeping everything secret. I didn’t even try to tell myself “one more chapter” with this book because I knew better. Pick this one up if you like forbidden tension, complicated secrets, sharp banter, and a romance that makes you stare at the page long after you should turn it.
The chemistry between these two had me hooked pretty much immediately. 🔥🥵
The whole best friend’s brother situation already gives us that delicious “we probably shouldn’t be doing this” tension, and I was HERE for it. The attraction, the teasing, the forbidden feeling… yeah, I was invested. 😂
I really liked the push and pull between the characters, especially watching all that tension finally start to unravel. And the BDSM element added another layer that made things even more interesting. It was steamy, but I also liked that there was an actual connection underneath all the heat.
Basically, this book gave me romance, tension, chemistry, and enough spice to make me need a fan. 😂🔥 Definitely one of those reads where you tell yourself “just one more chapter” and then suddenly it’s way later than you intended.
If you like your romance forbidden, steamy, and a little bit naughty… add this one to your list. 😏❤️🔥
Suite 7: A Best Friend's Brother BDSM Romance (The Eclipse Suites Book 1)
I have been struggling with picking up a book for a while now. I have read Ms. Love's work and knew I should be prepared. But this was better than I had expected.
Vera had the nerve to own up to what she wanted. Didn't rush into anything and finally made a decision and follow through. She was nervous before she meets the guy who is going to change her life in so many wonderful ways.
Kane and Vera have not really got along from the very first day they meet as Sloane's older brother and her best friend. They were always picking at one another and disagreeing quite passionately over the 9 years they have known one another.
There was the perfect amount of spice along with the development of the main characters. I hope the next book in the series comes out soon. I'm ready to see who falls first and how they admit to themselves as well as anyone else.
I don't remember reading anything by Marilyn Love before. I really enjoyed this storyline combination of BDSM and the enemies-to-lovers trope. Vera and Kane know each other through her best friend Sloane; Kane is Sloane’s brother. Vera and Kane love to hate each other and their famous Sinclair-Beckett Smackdowns for years, which brings plenty of enjoyment to Sloane. When Vera decides to visit Eclipse for a meeting with the owner, who will match her with a Dominant, who would have thought the Dom would be her best friend's brother?
The chemistry between the to is electric, when Sloane is escorted into the Suite blindfolded, neither one recognizes the other. I loved every part of this book, except for Sloane's reaction to finding that her best friend and brother are involved in a relationship. This is a wonderfully satisfying read that I highly recommend. And I will be following Marilyn Love in the future.
This is the first time I have read a book by Marlyn Love and I enjoyed this book. Loved the characters and the storyline, it was like looking at Fifty Shades of Grey in a different view, definitely had the vibes. Vera and Kane are looking for some new excitement in their lives. The best friend’s brother storyline adds an interesting forbidden love element that keeps the story exciting. The characters have strong chemistry, and their complicated relationship creates plenty of drama. A tale of truths and love in all their forms that grabs you and doesn't let go. To watch Vera and Kane fight like a married couple during the day and switch 180 degrees at night makes this book hard to put down and keep going to the end. Can't wait to see what happens in the next book. I think this would make a good blind date book read.
Suite 7: A Best Friend's Brother is a romance with BDSM elements The story explores themes of trust, secrecy, emotional conflict, and the tension of a best friend’s brother dynamic. Vera enters Suite 7 for an anonymous encounter, only to discover the man is Kane, her best friend’s brother. Their connection grows through rising tension, complicated feelings, and the challenge of keeping their relationship hidden while navigating the world of Eclipse and its expectations. Vera is determined, conflicted, and emotionally vulnerable, while Kane is steady, attentive, and deeply invested in her well being. Their chemistry is strong, and both characters show growth as they confront desire, boundaries, and the consequences of secrecy. Overall, I found the book engaging, fast paced, and emotionally charged, with well written intimacy and compelling character dynamics that kept me invested throughout.
Suite 7 had me hooked from the first couple of pages and continued to do so with the chemistry, banter, and all the tension between Vera and Kane. The best friend’s brother trope is one of my favorites, especially when the main characters have a love-hate relationship. Vera walks into Eclipse looking to explore something new, only to discover that the man waiting for her in Suite 7 is Kane, her best friend Sloane’s brother! What starts as a secret arrangement quickly turns into something more, which becomes a challenge to keep their relationship a secret from Sloane. I loved the push and pull between Vera and Kane, their chemistry, and how their relationship developed beyond just the spice. There’s plenty of steam, but also trust, vulnerability, and drama to keep things interesting. I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next in this series!
This is the first book I have read by this author and I really enjoyed it! The BDSM elements were just right for me—not too much, but enough to add some excitement without feeling overwhelming. I liked the characters overall, although I must admit Sloane and Vera got on my nerves once in a while. Honestly, I had to roll my eyes at them a few times. Kane, though… I really liked him. The chemistry between Kane and Vera was intense, and I definitely enjoyed watching their relationship develop. I would love to see a story about Sloane next because I’m curious to see where her story goes. This is definitely a fun read, and I’ll be checking out more from this author!
Vera is a woman that always has to be in control in every aspect of her life. Her ex told her that everything was because of her, that she couldn’t let go and couldn’t always be in control. So when she finds a place where she might be able to find that release she takes the opportunity. However this opportunity puts her in the arms of the man that she shouldn’t have feelings for, her best friend Sloane’s brother, Kane. Suite 7 was supposed to help her possibly help her become a submissive but it put her in a room with Kane as her Dom. How did she get herself into this mess. However Kane helps he let go for just a little bit and she liked it. However this was only supposed to be a one night thing. They both want more, they both want to see where this could go but they also don’t want to make things weird in their dynamic with his sister. Could this be a good thing for them both?
Kane and Vera seemed to fit well together. Shamed by past partners they both had scars so deep that they probably never truly healed. Being able to be yourself is so freeing and these two characters did that for one another. Outside of Eclipse these two bicker like an old married couple. Since Vera is his sister, Sloan's, best friend I feel like that is a given, ha-ha. Falling for your brothers best friend is easy, but keeping it a secret is hard. BDSM isn't really my thing but I did enjoy this story. It isn't too long and it kept a good pace. I don't believe I have read anything by this author before but I will most likely pick up some of her other books.
I am new to Marlyn Love’s books, but am so glad I picked this up and read it! It is emotional and extra spicy, has some BDSM (if you arent into that kinda stuff, this may not be for you), little bit of dark romance. It is very well written and the way she wrote the BDSM romance scenes was wonderful. I had a very hard time putting this book down. The characters build up trust during the story and you can feel their undeniable attraction and sexual chemistry yanking at them. I enjoyed the drama and the characters are easy to love. This is for sure a top favorite of the books I have read this year so far! This book is HOT HOT HOT! Go read it!
Don't pick this book up if you have ANY plans that you want to get done. You won't be able to put this down! Vera needs someone to take control so she seeks it out in an elite club where she ends up being paired with her best friends brother, Kane. The banter between the two of them is *chef's kiss* and the spice is even better! But there's also vulnerability, twists and turns, and so much more that you won't be able to think about anything but this book! Everything was done so well in this book! The characters, the plot, the descriptions, EVERYTHING! I can't wait to see where this series goes!
Book 1 in the Eclipse Suites series! This book has a little bit of everything: Great story line, character development, and BDSM romance as well. I love when these books actually come with decent story line as well! Please be cautious if BDSM type things trigger you! I really liked Vera and Kane’s relationship from the best friend’s brother banter to becoming something more within the world at Eclipse (the BDSM secret club),and falling into a more natural relationship in the end! Vera struggled with how to keep everything under wraps from her best friend while hoping once the truth came out no friendship/trust was lost. This gave the whole story a little dramatization! This book was absolutely amazing, and I could barley put it down! I’m excited to read more from this series!
Vera is a young woman who is looking for someone with control, in the BDSM vein. She goes to Eclipse for a meeting with the owner, who will match her with a Dominant, “precisely.” She goes home, planning to wait a few weeks, and resumes her public relations job.
She meets her Dominant just a week later, though wearing an eye mask.
This is where I have to stop, because the names of anyone other than Vera will tell too much. Suffice it to say, the story is well told and well paced, and character development is spot-on.
I really enjoyed this BDSM book. It’s the first book in the series about the Eclipse club and I cannot wait to read the next one. Hopefully it won’t be long til its out/ Suite 7 has 2 very likeable main characters and I love their relationship. They really care for one another as well as their sister/best friend and don’t want to hurt her. The book is very well written and hard to put down. Readers will devour it like I did. Five stars!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
The Eclipse Suites Book 1 is a wonderful book. Best friends brother sub-trope. The erotic scenes are very tastefully written. The characters are so very relatable and perfectly NOT perfect. I absolutely love the dynamic between Vera and Kane. The arguments that get so heated, then when they discover one another, the make outs that are even more heated. I read this book in less than 24 hours. Start to finish before bed, before work, on breaks, on lunch, and then when I got off work. I absolutely could not put it down. I cannot wait to see what is in store for the next book.
Basically, this book gave me romance, tension, chemistry, and enough spice to make me need a fan. Definitely one of those reads where you tell yourself “just one more chapter” and then suddenly it’s way later than you intended and you just keep on reading until you finish it haha.
The chemistry between these two had me hooked pretty much immediately!! I could not get enough of it. The whole best friend's brother situation gives that "oh no we shouldn't be doing this" but I was completely ready and waiting for it!! Haha. I loved the attraction, the teasing, the forbidden feeling... ooh I was completed invested haha! Oh and don't forget all about the BDSM element that added even another layer on top of everything else, adding that steamy heat to the storyline made me eat it up even more!!
Suite 7 is an engaging romance filled with tension, secrets, and unexpected chemistry. The best friend’s brother storyline adds an interesting forbidden love element that keeps the story exciting. The characters have strong chemistry, and their complicated relationship creates plenty of drama. Overall, it’s a fun choice for readers who enjoy steamy romance, suspense, and complicated relationships.
I went in expecting the spice—and trust me, it delivered—but I wasn’t expecting to become so invested in the actual story and the connection between these characters. There was something about them that felt deeper than just chemistry. The tension, the trust, the vulnerability, and all those complicated feelings underneath it had me completely wrapped up in their story.
I especially loved that the BDSM element wasn’t just thrown in for shock value. The trust and communication added another layer to their relationship and made the emotional moments hit even harder.
And then you add in the best friend’s brother trope? Yeah, I never stood a chance.
Marlyn Love gave me heat, emotion, tension, and characters I genuinely cared about. Suite 7 was everything I wanted it to be and then some. I finished it completely satisfied and already wanting more from The Eclipse Suites.
