Jodi closes the book on Laney & Gunner with Pretty Lawless. I gotta admit, I was bummed. NOT with the book, but with the end of my favorite two gun totin, boot wearin couple. This book was full of suspense, heat and two many cowboys for Laney to handle. Toss in a sex party, a little moonlighting as a stripper and an arrest or two - and you must be in Pistol Rock!!! I love that we got a little insight into the mind of Gunner!!!

WOW!!! This book was outstanding, I loved Laney and Gunner in this book and how you got their POV on what they were feeling. Laney wasn't happy with Gunner keeping things from her under the assumption of keeping her safe. She felt lied to and betrayed. With all these sexy, hot cowboys around to make Laney crazy she is going to find out what's going on in her town and I loved every minute of it. I read this one in one sitting, I couldn't put it down. I love how the story ended for Gunner and Lainey, it was perfect for them.

I absolutely adore this series! It is full of humor and heat! I hate to see it end but am glad it was on a high note. Jodi Linton has been able to create a storyline that intrigues and keeps you interested it has everything you could possibly need in a terrific book.

Jodi Linton did the impossible! PRETTY LAWLESS is the fourth and last installment in the Deputy Laney Briggs series, and what a fabulous ending to a great series!
All the loose ends are - not so neatly - tied up; don't get me wrong: the story is solid and air-tight, it's just that this is a serious suspense; Ms. Linton does not just wrap it up quietly. A lot happens, there are huge surprises, funny bits, a lot of those sexy moments we love, those wonderful, colourful dialogues. I expected a lot from Ms. Linton and PRETTY LAWLESS, and not only did she meet my high expectations, she went above and beyond! Excellent!

Wow. The cowboys in this book are dirty, hot, and as real as it gets. Laney Briggs doesn’t know if she can forgive Gunner for his past deceptions, but he has his reasons and in this book, we finally get his point of view. The man thinks about getting Laney into his life permanently and out of her jeans…a lot.
The other men in the book are just as frustrating, but man they can twist a girl’s panties in a few knots. Yep, I loved it.

Gunnar was planning to propose to Laney but things went to hell and now she’s gonna have his hide when she finds out just how much he been keeping from her in this riveting romantic suspense.
Gunnar Wilson just went and pulled a fast one and skipped out and the reader can’t help but get caught up in all the fireworks as Deputy Laney Briggs goes wild, wild west on Gunnar. The relationship has hit a rough patch as investigations get in the way of Laney and Gunnar’s romance but of course the sexual chemistry is as hot as ever and tends to play a bit of havoc with Laney’s intention to let Gunnar have it. The characters are strong compelling and demand your attention while they take down the bad guys and struggle with the demands that the job has on their relationship while the fast paced, smooth flowing plot keeps readers on their toes with lots of suspense, action, fireworks and romance.
High strung tension starts off this story as Gunnar arrests Laney’s best friend Luke Wagner and expectations builds the tensions to an all-time high as Laney launches her own investigation with a Federal Marshall and things quickly escalate while some unexpected discovers keeps the characters and the readers on the edge of their seats. The well written scenes and details make it easy for the reader to become immersed in the story while the intriguing events draws the reader in and ensures that there is never a dull moment while some snarky dialogue along with Pistol Rock’s firecracker deputy adds some chuckles to the situation.
Deputy Laney Briggs and Texas Ranger Gunnar Wilson is always good for some passion and entertainment and in this story the past collides with the present and has them breaking all the rules. Note: It is best if this series is read in sequence to get complete enjoyment of the story.

Author Jodi Linton wraps up the Deputy Laney Briggs series with a whole lot of suspense, a few surprises, and some sexy times that well...let's just say some are damn entertaining. Pretty Lawless is not an easy story; this book is messy and while everything is wrapped up it is not a nice, neat package with a pretty bow on top.
Throughout this series we've seen Laney change quite a bit but in Lawless she seems to mature and she doesn't let Gunner get away with as much in this installment. She stands up for herself and she proves that she is every bit the spitfire we've seen in the past and worthy of those red boots she favors.
I had really hoped with having Gunner's point of view he would grow on me a bit more. Honestly Gunner isn't a favorite hero of mine as I don't think he's ever really treated Laney well. I believe he thinks he loves her but to me he's always been kind of a jerk and wants Laney just so no one else can have her. To be honest I think Laney had better chemistry with both Colt and Luke than she did with Gunner but her heart knows what it wants and obviously it wants Gunner.
It's very hard to write this review without giving the story away but I will say it was enjoyable, I appreciated the complicated plot, and it made me laugh a lot. There were some seriously funny moments in this book and often right at the perfect time.
Through four full length novels and a bonus novella we've seen Deputy Laney Briggs and Texas Ranger Gunner Wilson go round and round and put each other through the wringer but in Pretty Lawless they finally figure it all out and this story ended perfectly for this couple.

Jodi Linton has hit another homer out of the park for her irreverent and sassy mouthed Deputy Laney Briggs with Pretty Lawless. I am captivated by her writing style, snappy wit, and vibrant and eccentric characters. Ms. Linton has a flair for quirky humor, erotic sensual scenes, and clever dialog that I can’t seem to get enough of. Deputy Laney has not one but three scrumptious cowboys in love with her, and I am chartreuse with envy. Her tiny little town has mushroomed into a hub of crime as we can now add human trafficking and a swinger’s sex club to the previous list of murders, fraud, organized crime, police corruption, drug dealing, gun running, biker gangs, drive by shootings, and abduction. Oh my, I don’t remember west Texas being such an exciting bee hive, but I would gladly plan a trip if there was any hope of finding me a sexy cowboy like Luke, Gunner, or Colt; but my luck would more than likely land me in the lap of her bucked-toothed, mullet wearing, idiot cousin Wyatt. Told from my favorite dual POV, Pretty Lawless and the novella Talk Dirty To Me Cowboy are my personal favorites of the series. Having read the last one, I am feeling more than a bit bereft. I would think it would be an easy fix for Ms. Linton to continue the series into perpetuity with finding love for Colt and Luke, just saying…

In ‘Pretty Lawless’ we meet Laney Briggs right were the ‘Pretty Shameless’ ended. Laney discovered her boyfriend Gunner had been lying about a lot of things lately. Now Laney is hurt and desperate to find out the truth about the case Gunner is lying so much for. Especially when this case also seems to involve her friend Luke Wagner.
This book is a little different than the previous ones in the series because this one is written in both Laney’s and Gunner’s point of view. Although this was really fun read, I did have some trouble at times following which POV I was reading. I really had to get back to the beginning of the chapter a couple of times. But maybe that’s just me.
In this final book a lot of things about Laney and Gunner are finally explained. Secrets are revealed, relationships are explained and new friendships are made. Everything really came back together and that really felt like a perfect way to end a series to me.
The chemistry and passion between Laney and Gunner is still sexy and fun to read about. It’s not very romantic but their sparkling attraction for each other really made up for that.
What I didn’t like about this book was the way Laney seemed to be attracted to every ‘Cowboy’ she talked to. This really frustrated me because she claims to be so in love with Gunner. Well, honestly I think that if that would be through she wouldn’t be so easily attracted to someone else. This just didn’t work me.
Also the scene at the swingers party at the end didn’t do it for me. In my opinion this just didn’t fitted the story.
Overall I did enjoy reading about how the story of Laney and Gunner ended. I loved getting to know them the last year and to read about their journey. This series definitely makes me keep an eye out on other books by Jodi Linton.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so her is my review. Deputy Laney Briggs and Texas Ranger Gunner Wilson are at it again. Either they are fighting or loving each other. And once again Laney is hating Gunner right about now. She wants to know why he has arrested her long time friend Luke Wagner. While Gunner keeps secrets, Laney is beginning to wonder who she can trust. But with her weakness being tall, tattooed and sexy as hell cowboys, she has to be careful who she gets help from. Can Gunner get her to see that he was keeping secrets from her to keep her safe? Will Laney ever learn the truth? Will Luke tell the truth about the one night that Laney can't remember? And will they all survive what comes next? Will Laney and Gunner get their happily ever after? I love this series, it is funny as hell, full of suspense and a few sexy cowboys. If you are looking for a great fun series then join the ride with Laney, Gunner, Luke and Colt. They will catch the bad guys one way or the other.

This, the third in the series finally gives is the answers we needed about the crimes and the romance that have been so tightly woven in the past two books. You definitely should read the previous books to understand just how good the whole trilogy is.
There are plenty more of the twists and turns that we have come to expect, but we do get a resolution - after a lot of shenanigans and both some funny interludes, but also some fairly intense ones. Ms Linton makes her readers sweat it out a bit, before revealing just how things are going to be!
I'm looking forward to January, when I know there is a window in my review calendar where reading these three books back to back will make a cold winter weekend be bright, funny and hotly sexy!

Gunner has arrested Laney's best friend Luke on murder charges and she calls in Colt Larson to help her track down the bad guy. Laney now has three hot cowboys/lawmen to contend with and her on again off again relationship with Gunner is up in the air.
Pretty Lawless is face paced read full of action, heat and a little romance. Gunner is a hot, possessive Texas Ranger who is totally ga ga for Laney. And he is a good guy so even when he messed up I loved him. I think getting the story from Laney and Gunner's point of view helped too.
This series has gotten better with every instalment and Pretty Lawless is a great finish to a fun series.

Laney and Gunner haven't had it easy, but things sure get even harder in this one. I really liked that we got Gunner's point of view along with Laney's in this one. We really needed it with everything coming to a head. This book sure keeps you on your toes. The previous books have been leading up to this. Betrayal, back stabbing, and bring you to your knees hurt happen, but there is more than meets the eye. We all know about Luke and Gunner, but Colt another cowboy is added to the mix. Mighty jealous of Laney having three hunky cowboys in her life. Will Gunner finally get the justice he seeks? And will Laney get her HEA? The epilogue is the moment all us Laney and Gunner fans having been waiting for. Jodi delivers in this one and gives her readers the perfect ending who have been on this wild journey.

What do you get when you put three sexy cowboys with one insatiable sheriff's deputy cowgirl? That would be Jodi Linton's newest victory, Pretty Lawless, A Deputy Laney Briggs Novel. Once again, I would like to applaud this author with her quirky southern charm and humor, laced with erotic sexiness. The characters are so deliciously written that the reader can easily be part of the story while holding on to every word until the very end.
Deputy Laney Briggs is at it again. She's driven in her need to find the truth and will do whatever it takes, literally, to find out the facts. Even if it means she has to undermine her favorite sexy Texas Ranger, Gunner Wilson. Although, her heart belongs to Gunner, she enlists the help of the flirtatious hottie, Marshal Colt Larsen who stokes her fire in more than one way. Although, finally getting what she wants with Gunner opening up, they are all thrown into a whirlwind of craziness that will leave you begging for more.
Picking up from the last novel, Deputy Briggs is hot on the trail of finding out why her delectably seductive dear old friend Luke Wagner was arrested by her sexy Texas Ranger. There are so many twists and turns throughout this final novel that you will be completely entranced, while delightfully amused by the created characters. Jodi Linton has a way with words that never ceases to amaze me. The way the story ends showered me with bliss, even though I was extremely saddened that the story was over. You make me happier than a two peckered dog, Jodi!

Once again, I would like to applaud this author with her quirky southern charm and humor, laced with erotic sexiness. The characters are so deliciously written that the reader can easily be part of the story while holding on to every word until the very end.
Deputy Laney Briggs is at it again. She's driven in her need to find the truth and will do whatever it takes, literally, to find out the facts. Even if it means she has to undermine her favorite sexy Texas Ranger, Gunner Wilson. Although, her heart belongs to Gunner, she enlists the help of the flirtatious hottie, Marshal Colt Larsen who stokes her fire in more than one way. Although, finally getting what she wants with Gunner opening up, they are all thrown into a whirlwind of craziness that will leave you begging for more.
Picking up from the last novel, Deputy Briggs is hot on the trail of finding out why her delectably seductive dear old friend Luke Wagner was arrested by her sexy Texas Ranger. There are so many twists and turns throughout this final novel that you will be completely entranced, while delightfully amused by the created characters. Jodi Linton has a way with words that never ceases to amaze me. The way the story ends showered me with bliss, even though I was extremely saddened that the story was over. You make me happier than a two peckered dog, Jodi!

This is book 3 in the Laney Briggs series. In this book , Laney Briggs was all excited thinking she and Mister Sexy Texas Ranger, Gunner Wilson were going to get engaged. She had all these hints but instead he went and arrested her best friend, Luke Wagner, and skipped town on her. Now Laney is out for blood-- that is Gunner’s blood. She is hurt and angry thinking what they had was an illusion, not understand what went wrong. All she has to do is make sure she doesn’t jump his bones first before she rips him a new one first.
Gunner HAD all these plans to propose to the love of his life before everything went to heck in a hand basket. Instead he had Dirty Southern Mafia and corrupt cops all over the place which had ties to an investigation he was knees deep in. Reading this story, you can tell Gunner knows he is in a world of trouble. Reading this story, there are deceptions going deep here and wow, we don’t know if Laney will forgive what Gunner has done. But whoa, do we see Gunner’s POV for what he has done what he did, all his reasons leading up to everything. I would be very frustrated with him but he did it with love—and all the other cowboys, they are just as sexy as Gunner and just as thick headed and in need of a good kick of common sense. I really enjoyed reading this story and watching Laney and Gunner deal with everything that has gone on and how he handled everything. One great scene is in a strip club—no words needed LOL. All I can say is we get to see what makes Gunner tick and we get to see Laney more grown up and mature in this book. The ending is fantastic and I hope we get to see Luke & Colt get their own book.

You cannot even imagine the excitement when I heard that I would be reviewing Pretty Lawless! Imagine a 16 year old girl going to a concert! That’s right, it was pathetic! But I didn’t care, Jodi Linton writes the most amazing books and Laney Briggs is one of my favorite characters! But then I remember that this is the last Laney Briggs book and boom! Book hangover, before I even started!!
So we begin the story in the mid of a gigantic cock-up, but not by Laney…its Gunner’s mess. Gunner manages to shoot a dirty cop, arrest Laney’s best friend and is the undercover agent on a swingers club/murder investigation and he did this without telling Laney! As you can imagine, it didn’t go down well add to the top of that, it’s Christmas and you might as well just put a fork in it! But Laney wants to know why, save Luke and pretty much devastate herself by walking away from Gunner…after a little punishment of course!
But a few things get in the way of Laney’s anger plans, like a swingers party, strippers and the fact that she actually loves Gunner puts pay to that plan. I am not going to go too much more into the story; after all I encourage you to read this book of deliciousness. But I will say, by the end of the book I was left satisfied and I wondered if a door has been left open for a spin of….
The entire book was delicious! And I will always think that Lacey as the truly most perfect modern day heroine! And Gunner as a delicious stud muffin (ha-ha). The writing was clean and flowed without any fluff, the plot was well thought out and executed and the rest of the characters are perfect!

Genre: Romance, suspense. I’d not reads the first two, so caught up by reading the samples and a few reviews, and on to this one. Laney, she’s tough, impetuous and in love with gunner – even if he drives her to distraction. Trouble is they’re both involved in the Law but in different jurisdictions that overlap currently, and Laney is putting a different interpretation on his actions, but he can’t tell her the truth. There’s lots of back story that carries through from the first two novels, some sexy interactions and a large cast of characters – all those W names, Wilson, Wagner, Wyatt...I got a bit confused at times especially as its a fast paced, non stop action read, though with very comedic plots.
Its a fun read, and reminded me a bit of those old slapstick movies. You can see what's coming, can see exactly how poor Laney is going to interpret things.then there’s Gunner, doomed if he does, doomed if he doesn’t it seems. They’ve been through so much, and deserve to finally get together, but they way things go at times it looks like the odds are against them.
Oh – and I want some red boots – I’ve got some great sparkly dark blue ones, and some hot pink sparkly ones but none in red.....

Sometimes you learn you should'a just done it right the first time...
So is the case with Gunner -- who just before the beginning of this book, was ready to pop the question to long time love, Laney Briggs, when he was pulled away to put a finish to the latest big case he's been working.
Problem? That case includes someone close to Laney.
Problem number two? A whole lot of little white lies are about to come out of the bag.
What I loved the most about this last installment to the Laney/Gunner story has got to be the vulnerability that is showcased surrounding Gunner. The man still can't handle her tears for too long, but Laney is definitely 'it' for him. They have had so many ups and downs on their journey, and this latest down is scaring Gunner a bit.
I very much enjoyed this ending to a series -- the emotion was there, the suspense was there... I think Gunner has proven to Laney just how much she means to him, even if he sometimes had not so traditional ways of going about it. Equally though, I liked that Laney was a strong enough female (outside of her strong role as a Deputy, of course) that she didn't wimper and wilt when Gunner apologized. She made the man work for it! She does show up, though, when he's hurt, just like he's protective and (just slightly...) possessive of her when the times call for it.
I'm glad these two finally have finally found their way!

It was exciting to finally get to read this one but also reluctance because they were getting down to the wire for the ending. Along the way I have gotten mad at Gunner at times but also love seeing these two together. Laney is a character that sticks to you and you love when she goes full steam. Thanks to this last thing that Gunner has done she calls Colt to come help her out. He gives her some insights on what is what, that also turns out to be a hard pill to swallow. Still determined to get her friend back she plows forward. Gunner has decided to give her his version of the truth and wowee it is going to be a fun ride. The friction between Gunner and Luke has been entertaining through out and in this one some interesting facts will come to light. I would say Gunner and Laney are like two magnets whom at times pull each other apart but other times stuck to each other with no space in between. So this one was definitely the best one as they will all come together to work to end on putting it all to rest. Of course it will all be in their fashion being true to their characters with it all going down with pomp and fanfare. It will also be fun and fast loving every minute of it and the humor right up there too. The finale will merit any fireworks show with a epilogue that is most fitting and the last line the pincher.

So here we go, the last book in the series.
I have to admit that I have a deep fondness for author Jodi Linton and especially her series about the wisecracking Texas deputy Laney Briggs. One of the very first books that I ever reviewed was a Jodi Linton book. Laney is the woman that most of us want to be because she gets to do and say all the things that we want to do and say but never can or won’t.
Laney Briggs and Gunner Wilson have one of the most complicated relationships I’ve ever read in a romance and that's a good thing. They are great characters who do everything they can to sabotage their relationship but it only leads them closer together. The fact that they are law enforcement officers who seek to solve a complicated and far-reaching case together and their personal problems and feelings for each other, only makes the story better.
The secondary characters of Luke Wilson and Colt Larsen have me drooling and wanting more but they only add to the already entrancing story. I can only say, “More Colt and Luke!"
PRETTY LAWLESS ties up the loose ends but leaves a few open for later stories and follow-ups. The only thing I can find wrong is that it’s the end of the series. It’s a five star must-read for the year!

What a great ending to this series. I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. First, I received this book then realized it was a series so I was able to receive books one and two...and then I had to read the two novellas as well because basically, I fell in love with Texas Ranger Gunner Wilson.
This series follows Deputy Laney Briggs and all the law enforcement hi jinks she gets herself into. Throw into the mix her hot cowboy Texas ranger boyfriend, her hot cowboy rancher friend, a hot federal marshal and well....good times are had.
This book picks up where Shameless ends and well, since it's not out yet I don't want to spoil it for anyone but suffice it to say you get the answers you want/need.
As previously mentioned, after watching The Longest Ride, Gunner and Luke both look like Scott Eastwood. I've decided Colt can be played by Timothy Olyphant. Laney Briggs is a lucky woman to have these sexy as hell men basically lusting after her but she only has eyes for one.
Overall I enjoyed this series. Books one and two were just Laney's POV but you get dual POV with this one. I loved getting into Gunner's head.
I would definitely recommend this book and this series to others to read!!

This is a great book; this is the last book in the Deputy Laney Briggs series written by Jodi Linton. I have read and loved each book in this series. Deputy Laney Briggs is a tough and sassy. She was expecting her longtime boyfriend Gunner to propose to her what she wasn’t expecting was for Gunner to arrest her best friend Luke for a crime he did not do. Gunner knows that Laney is going to be mad about Luke’s arrest but what she doesn’t know is that it was all planned and it is a fake arrest. But when Laney teams up with Colt, they have to all work together to find the real criminal before they all end up dead for interfering.This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

Amazing farewell to this series!
I will seriously miss the sassy and always horny Lannie Briggs. Her character had me tied up in stitches with her wild temper and over active hormones whenever her sexy Texas ranger made an appearance. Their relationship kept us turning the pages. You never knew what trouble Lanie would be in. I read anxiously waiting for Gunner to make an appearance. You never knew what to expect but boy when things went well they could really heat up the pages.
Gunner was a walking, dirty talking cowboy who has a thing for one very stubborn sheriff deputy. Throughout this series I fell in love with Gunner myself. Damn that is one hot cowboy!
With this final book it was sad to know that we would not have these two to heat up pages and make me laugh yet.....these two received an ending they both deserved. Yeah I cried tears of joy. Farewell to one fantastic series and I look forward to what the author has in store for us. Thank you for a great ride :)

I enjoyed this last installation for Lainey Briggs. But what I enjoyed more was Gunner's point of view. In the first stories I did not feel as connected to him and kinda worried about his true feelings for Lainey. But with this story, you got every dirty detail he had to offer and they were fabulous. That Lainey is a lucky girl, three big hot alpha males after her, nice! But of course only one could capture her heart, and he was a spicy one. Still very nice to have the other two in her life.
The story was action packed with several twists and turns. Lainey was still a total kickass woman I loved reading about. And I am glad the storylines worked out the way they did. I adored Colt and Luke and hope to one day read their adventures to a HEA.

This is another fabulous book by Jodi Linton. I have enjoyed all the Laney Briggs books in this series so far. I can honestly say I love this series! I enjoy her characters in the story and most of all… the men!
In this book the author gives us both Gunner and Laney’s POV. I love knowing what the awesome Texas Ranger is thinking! We all know Laney doesn’t hold back when she needs to speak her mind. Hell, some of the things that come out of her mouth makes me laugh out loud.

Laney has been deserted by Gunnar on Christmas Day, plus he has arrested her good friend Luke. But not everything is as it seems. We get to see the mystery solved, Gunnar doing a lot of groveling and a HEA.
The interactions between the characters is as funny as always, but I still think that Laney's constant state of being in lust with whichever man she's with is way over the top.
This is not a standalone novel; this series should be read in order. If you've enjoyed the earlier books in this series, you will definitely like Pretty Lawless.

Love Laney and Gunner and Luke! This series makes me laugh and keeps my interest. Laney is one tough woman but she has a soft spot for Texas Ranger Gunner Wilson and her 'friend' Luke, even though both men are rivals. The suspense continues in this one as Luke is arrested for murder and Laney is ready to rip into Gunner. I love this couple and I especially love how human they both are. Their relationship is never easy but somehow that work through it. Luke and now the addition of Colt from the previous story add so much sexual tension and yet add comedy too. This is a terrific series and I hope we hear more about Laney and Gunner, but also more about Luke and Colt who I hope someday get their happy endings!
