Eleanor: The Newport Innkeeper: A Sweet Gilded Age Romance

One storm. One secret. One choice that could cost everything.
Newport, Rhode Island, 1893.

The Kensington fortune is vast—steel, railroads, shipping—and bound by one unyielding the three Kensington sons must marry within a year…or lose everything.

Gabriel Kensington knows what marriage means—an alliance to secure power and preserve status. Unwilling to surrender to expectation, he rides out of Newport under cover of darkness, seeking escape. A violent storm drives him off course—and straight into a failing roadside inn far removed from the glittering world he left behind.

There, he meets Eleanor.

A widowed innkeeper fighting to save her livelihood from a grasping brother-in-law, Eleanor has no patience for strangers—least of all one calling himself “Gabe Kent.” Yet something about him refuses to his quiet authority, his practiced ease…his interest in her.

Drawn together despite themselves, the connection between them deepens with every passing day.

But Gabriel’s secret shadows every moment.
And Eleanor’s hard-won independence leaves no room for betrayal.

Because the truth is simple—and
A man like Gabriel Kensington does not choose a woman like Eleanor.

But when love refuses to obey the rules of class and consequence, he must decide—

Honor his inheritance…
Or risk everything for the one woman he was never meant to love.

If you love slow-burn romance, secret identities and class-gap romance, step into Newport’s Gilded Age and start reading Eleanor today.

This story takes place during the Gilded Age. It's about the three Kensington boys, born into a wealthy family in the late 1800s. Gabriel Kensington knows that he's supposed to marry, but he chafes at the idea. Trying to escape what he sees as a gloomy fate, he ends up at an inn in Newport where he meets the charming Eleanor. Their personalities clash at first, but they both subsequently become infatuated with each other.

Since their love is inappropriate, the tension in the book centers around whether they will end up together. The "will they, won't they" nature of the relationship draws the reader in, and it's hard not to root for them finding love. Anyone who likes the drawn out, slow-burn style of romance should appreciate this one.
