My Thoughts - Story
I absolutely LOVED the premise of the story with Karma!! How often do we lose ourselves with “labels” --- The author did an excellent job of bringing that problem to the forefront of society today – especially with the age group Karma fell into.

As much as I wanted to hate Braden, I LOVED the relationship between him and Karma (the second time around). Beautiful story of second chances and Ms. Wray did a great job of bouncing the story between the past and the present!

Title: Finding Karma
Author: Stacy M. Wray
Genre: New Adult
My Rating: 4 smiling Braden Stars!
Swooning Level: 5/5

Karma felt lost. And she was not going to stop until she found herself.

Finding Karma tells a tale of self-discovery, redemption, second-chance love & empowerment.

Karma Mickelson doesn't want to live in the shadow of her high school sweetheart Braden Stewart any more. She wants to make her own choices. Karma loves Braden with everything within her but it's his dream to go to UCLA for college, not hers. During a summer road trip with her friend, Jeremy, Karma realizes what she feels she was born to do. So, Karma tells Braden her plans of going to a different college to pursue her dreams of photography, but Braden? He can't accept her decision. So he lets her go. Crushing both of their hearts in the process. And laying ground for a tower of regrets.

"No matter how much I resist, we share a connection that can't be severed. I've tried. And I've failed. Miserably."

Fast forward 5 years later...
Karma's photography career is taking off. She's still wounded over the past heartbreak but she's growing stronger each day. And when Karma receives an offer to interview for a job that would really skyrocket her career, she's more than elated.
But isn't it funny how fate works out?
Guess who's Karma's new boss?
The one guy who still hasn't forgotten her.
The one guy who knows her inside out.
The one guy who's not gonna mess it up this time....

"His eyes are shiny and I know he doesn't care if I notice. He's baring his soul and it's the most beautiful thing I've ever witnessed. So raw and so honest. So Braden."

In Finding Karma we're taken on an adventure that spans years. With chapters seamlessly switching back and forth from Karma & Braden's present to their teen years, you really get to know both characters and what has made them who they are today. It was so easy to fall in with Braden and then have the urge to scream at him for the way he ended things with Karma! (But I still love him. A lot.) And Karma was a very relatable female lead. I thought the author crafted a beautiful tale of second-chance love! And I also appreciated how when Braden stated that his feelings for Karma had never gone away & he asked for a second chance, Karma immediately agreed. I'm glad there was no back & forth deciding if she was going to take him back. Braden & Karma are perfect together and the ending was more than satisfying! A perfect HEA!

Overall:
Braden was freaking adorable.
Karma was a powerful lead.
This book has every emotion.
A very solid 4 stars from me!
I'd highly recommend this to all lovers of New Adult/Romance.
I will most certainly be checking out the author's other work.

P.S. That epilogue from Braden's perspective was the icing on the cake. Perfection.

Finding Karma is the first book I've read by Stacy Wray. I received a complimentary copy in return for an honest review.

Finding Karma is the journey of Karma Mickelson and Braden Stewart. The storyline starts out in present day with the surprised meeting of two people, Braden and Karma, where there is a teaser for an interesting history. Wray builds the story with detail and depth bouncing back and forth from present day to the past, until the stories intersect and we are brought up to speed with the present.

I like how Braden and Karma have three meetings and Wray includes all three into the storyline: their first meeting in the fourth grade, their reconnecting as Juniors in High School and then again present day as adults. Wray also describes the relationship development during each time period; with of course, the present day bringing everything full circle.

The story includes personal development and fulfillment, love, forgiveness and healing. It's a sweet yet intense story sprinkled with heartache and redemption.

Finding Karma is well written with depth, dimension and complexity. There were a few editing errors of missing words, such as to and do; however, they weren't numerous and didn't detract from the overall experience.

All in all, I enjoyed Finding Karma. I look forward to exploring more from Wray in the near future.

My Rating: 5 Stars

Finding Karma is a second-chance romance switching between 2006 and 2013. 2006 is when Karma and a childhood friend, Braden, are reunited for the first time since last seeing each other in 4th grade. Braden & Karma quickly move from just friends to something more. But when Karma decides she's not going to go the same college with Braden as he planned for them, Braden decides to end things with Karma. Fast forward to 2013 and now the pair are working together and the sparks are flying again. Will they rekindle their romance or forever remain apart?

I gave Finding Karma 5 stars. I love a good second chance romance and thought Braden & Karma's relationship blossomed perfectly. The story was easy to follow and Wray was skillfully able to make you understand Karma's pain over losing Braden. But it seems the couple's break made them even stronger. This story was a complete roller-coaster of emotions that kept me hooked. I'd recommend Finding Karma to New Adult readers 16+.

I really enjoyed this journey with Karma as I followed her adventures and self discovery as she grew into her own person. Karma was so easy to connect with and care about. I felt like if you don't personally identify with her story, it's likely you knew someone who did. There was a lot of character development, building up the story to a point I wasn't able to put the last half of the book down. I loved all of the feels of this second chance romance and can't wait to read Ms. Wray's next book!

I truly cannot say enough about this story. It is a story of finding yourself, following your hearts and dreams, love, friendship, and second chances. I read this story a while back and loved it. I was asked to read it again after some changes were made and I fell in love with it all over again and more so than before. I loved how this story incorporates the past with the present to show the reader a story that is simply amazing. I have always be a believer in "what is meant to be, will be" and this story shows that so well. How two people can go their separate ways, move away, chase their dreams, but still end up face to face and just maybe have their second chance at that love they thought got away. This is a truly feel good story that will have you turning every page just to see how everything will work out in the end.

The blurb on Finding Karma is what drew me in. I was curious how it would all play out. I consumed this book, and quickly. I also found it left me hard pressed to find another good book to read after I finished this one. This story was one of the best coming of age, finding yourself stories I've read in a long time. Stacy kept the actions, reactions, and feelings relevant for the age of the characters.

Karma is a teenager that is used to being a wallflower. While a genuinely great person, she definitely preferred to not be the center of attention. All of that changes when the boy who haunted her past comes back. Karma had a lot of growing and soul-searching to do. I really enjoyed the stages we could see as a reader where her world was rocked and how she put it right again. She started out as a teenager with a level head, most of the time, and wonderful parents, who grew into a fabulous young woman attaining her dreams. The road trip section was probably one of my most favorite parts for this character. The author captured all the inner turmoil and changes so beautifully.

Braden, the boy who has secrets from his past and never forgot a girl, returns to his hometown where everything changed. When he sees Karma again, his world stops. Literally. He knew at that moment, the tender young age of 17, that Karma would be his end game. Braden had some amazing growth in this story. His character had a lot to overcome and it didn't happen in a day or even month. You really got to see how he took the long way around to figure out what was truly important in his life. Stacy captured his thoughts and they were palpable. You could feel his anguish, strife, regret, love, and hope. Even as a young adult, seeing him continue to grow was an enjoyment for me as a reader.

Jeremy played a pivotal role in Karma's life, and I liked how their dynamic grew and changed with the times in their life. Forever the brother she never had, Jeremy will always have a place in Karma's heart. Their unlikely friendship was so fun to read about. The yin and yang working together. Karma's parents were a welcome addition to this story. They supported and loved her to no end. I always love stories when parents are involved and in a positive way. It's heartwarming to me. Braden's parents were an interesting twist that sometimes is the reality. I enjoyed how she closed the loop on their feelings and interactions with Braden and Karma. The other secondary characters were perfectly placed in this story to aide Karma and Braden in this thing called life.

Overall I fell in love with this story. It really did have everything I could want as a reader. The plot moved along and I didn't once feel like there was a lull. The subplots only aided in the storytelling didn't overshadow the main plot, and were closed up in a seamless way. I enjoyed this coming of age, second chance romance, and would definitely recommend it to people. I laughed, felt the tug on my heart, and relished in the ending. From cover to cover, this book was wonderfully done and would be on my reread list. I am giving it 5 pointe shoes for originality, personality, writing, plot, and overall completeness of a fabulous story.

Braden is a football king and Karma is his girl. She wants everyone to know her for HER not being his girlfriend and living in the shadow. She is not going to follow him to UCLA that is his dream. Once she finds out she wants to be a photographer and go to a different college she dumps her.

Years have passed and Karma’s photography has taken off and she is happy. When she applies for a job that can take her even higher in her career she is excited until she finds out who her boss is. The one and only Braden.

The story was great we see each chapter grow and come together in their relationship. Well written and a story anyone can enjoy reading. A great second chance romance.

Loved this book! I listened to the audio version and really enjoyed listening to Karma and Braden’s love story. I enjoyed Karma’s personal journey and her ability to put herself first even when it was a hard decision to make. Jeremy was a great friend and character and I would love to hear more about his story too.

Karma was an absolutely beautiful read that left me thinking about it long after I finished it. What I liked most was the way in which the author focused on the ties that can connect two people, across the years and across a lifetime. This was done in a way that made me think about situations and people in my own life and what our relationships really mean. What I really appreciate is the fact that the author did not shove an over-sweetened, YA lovefest in the readers' direction.
Karma and Braden were so human and so accessible that I was able to completely get lost in their story without the jarring effect of 'hey, that could never really happen' or 'what teen acts like that?' There was nothing to stand between me and the story.
Lastly, I want to say how much I loved Karma's character. If you're like me and you're tired of teen characters who are insufferably smug, rolling their eyes because they've got it all figured out, then you will love Karma's character. She's strong but also vulnerable and her emotional IQ makes the book resonate with depth and feeling.
So glad I discovered this gem. I highly recommend it!

Wow, this book blew me away! I love second chance romances and this one is by far my favorite read. Karma and Braden formed a friendship when they were just kids, with Braden going through a devastating event and Karma being the only person to reach out to him. From then on, they were inseparable until one day Braden and his family moved away without saying goodbye. Karma was sad about losing her best friend. But time went on and now being a senior in high school, she is assigned to take pictures of the soccer team during practice for the yearbook staff. What she doesn’t realize is that moment in time is what determines her future. She has no idea that the new guy on the team is Braden, and that capturing images on camera is something that she learns to enjoy and eventually wants to do it professionally.

They realize after so many years have gone by, they have never forgotten each other. They become friends again, and eventually boyfriend/girlfriend as their connection continues to get stronger. Braden is smart, a hard worker, and focused on getting into UCLA to continue playing soccer. He’s determined to take Karma with him, as he cannot live without her. But Karma soon begins to realize that even though she is madly in love with Braden, she feels as though she hasn’t found her purpose in life. She’s always been known as Braden’s girlfriend, and he’s made all the decisions and plans so they can stay together. When Braden announces unexpectedly that he will be training at UCLA for the entire summer, Karma has nothing holding her back when accepting the road trip invitation from her newfound friend from school, Jeremy. It is this decision that will open Karma’s eyes as she experiences new things, meets new people along the way, and sees many places. It is also this decision that will be the beginning of Braden and Karma going their separate ways.

I love how Karma is a strong, fierce character. She never backs down, will not be pushed over, and goes after what she wants. Her encounter with Braden years later at a job interview is a shock to her, bringing up all the memories of the good times they had together. But it also brings up the very bad memories of Braden breaking her heart. Braden knows this is his second chance at convincing Karma that they belong together. He’s never forgotten her and his guilt and remorse of hurting her has always played in his mind and heart. The story is told during past and present times, which flowed so well into the story. Their path is a long, bumpy road towards forgiveness and redemption, but in the end true love conquers all. This was a fantastic second chance romance and I look forward to reading more from this author.

**I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review**

I really enjoyed this book. The description on Goodreads warns that it's not high drama, which I forgot until I just looked at it again. I wish I would have remembered that because I'm used to drama and I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, so to speak. It never did. You know from the beginning how this story is going to go, yet it's still such a fun and enjoyable ride.

The story jumps back and forth between two timelines. You jump between Karma as an adult and Karma as a teenager, following her story past and present with her high school sweetheart. This is an addictive style of storytelling for me. I get wrapped up in a chapter in present day, and then it switches to the past so I have to read on until I get back to present day. But then while I'm reading the chapter in the past I get hooked into that story as well and want to keep reading until I can get back to that part. And so on and so on. Next thing I know it's 2am and I really need to force myself to stop so I can function at work the next day.

I really loved these characters. Karma is relatable and sweet. Braden is charming and addictive. You see why Karma is so attached to him because you too become attached to him as you get to know him and learn their story piece by piece. You root for them. You get angry at him with her. You hurt for them both. The secondary characters are also great, particularly Jeremy. The storyline steps away from its regular rhythm for a while in the second half to take you into the past for several chapters while Karma goes on her trip of self-discovery with Jeremy. As funny and kind as he is, and as great as he and Karma are together, you never wish for them to be more. That's where I would have liked to remember the no high-drama warning because, in most of the books I read, the Jeremy story would have likely gone in a different direction. But not in this one. Jeremy is her friend. Braden is her forever. You know it from the start and it does nothing to detract from the intrigue as you follow their love story.

This truly is a coming-of-age story, for both Karma and Braden. It's a story of losing yourself in someone else and finding yourself apart from them. It's a story of finding your soulmate, losing them, and finding them once again. I'd recommend this book to anyone looking for an honest and true love story they can get lost in for a day or two. That's really all it'll take to read this one!

A sweet, nostalgic, coming-of-age story! I adored Karma and her steadfastness to be her own person, despite her superstar, soccer player boyfriend's status. Their love story was sweet and steamy, and took me back to the days when bonfire parties were all the rage and high school sports and future universities were hot topics of conversation. Braden was swoony, successful, driven, the perfect book boyfriend. I appreciated the young love that developed, and the angst delivered when Braden and Karma reunited after several years' separation, with unfinished business between them. This book covers all the bases and portrays all the feels. Well done.

Karma and Braden have known each other since they were kids, but Braden's sudden move out of Colorado Springs causes them to break apart, until they meet again during high school and start a relationship. They love each other, but despite this, Karma doesn't feel like she is living the life she wants to live, and this causes them to separate again. In the years they're far from each other, Karma does find herself and is finally happy, but she misses Braden in her life, although she tries not to admit it. Thanks to a not so subtle casuality, they meet again after some years, and it seems they aren't done yet.

This is a lovely story about two people who meet each other very young and that life keeps apart and puts back together. It is the story of how, despite a lot of years pass, two people are still able to love each other despite the hurt and the heartache and that if two people are meant to be together, they'll find their way back. I've loved this story ever since the first page. I expected it to flow with Karma and Braden's story of their teen years and then with a flash-forward leading in their present life, but I was happily surprised that the author decided to use just Karma's POV and alternate between a chapter of present time and one of the past time. I found myself eagerly waiting for both timelines to show me what would happen between the main couple, and I liked how the two mirrored themselves and like this made the reader see how the characters have changed in the span of five years.

The story is drama-free with authentic characters who we see improve page after page, especially Braden. His past-self was truly selfish and one of those characters pressed too much by his parents, I wondered if he was ever gonna explode. He always cared for Karma, but didn't realize that she was accepting to go to the university of his dreams just to be with him and not at her own volition. I'm glad that in the present timeline we see him changed and matured - he needed it. Karma is a strong character who may look weak in the past timeline, because she doesn't seem to stand up for her dreams. At times I wanted to push her to speak her voice about her passion, but I know fine well she wasn't aware of what she wanted to do either, so go to UCLA with Braden seemed only natural. I am glad she decided to do what she needed to do, otherwise she would have ended up unhappy and surely, she and Braden wouldn't have lasted college. As much as it was painful to see them apart, they needed time to figure out their own selves, and it did them good.

This story had its dose of sexy scenes, but like I said, it was drama-free. The moments that could lead to drama were handled in such a way that I appreciated. Sometimes you don't need over-the-top plots to develop your story. This book proved that the simplest gestures, the normalcy of life, of discovering yourself and love other people, can make a story flow well. I was happy I read this book because it made me think a lot as well. And although in the blurb it kind of tells you what theoretically would happen to the main couple, it was both sweet and bitter (when the moments were sad) to find out how Karma and Braden's story evolved and it is what it is in the present. The past timeline only enforces their love story and its powerful connection transpires through the pages.

This was truly a beautiful time piece that followed a beloved pair, Braden & Karma, over the years as they meet in childhood and onward through life as they spend together as a couple. Following in a dual tone, we get to learn of their personality and thoughts as they embark upon adventures and exciting stepping stones that solidify their bond and love. This was one of rarity that had me in tears but intrigued me as each grew in their own capacity as well as with each other. Truly heartwarming!

Such a lovely, sweet read.

A captivating coming of age romance. Which follows the trials and tribulations of a young Karma and Braden.

It was nostalgic as I watched Karma begin to find herself. But in doing so losing her first love.

But fate intervenes and has other ideas when they are reunited years later.

A second chance romance which flits between the past and present and will keep you invested until the very end.

Great second chance story

I was a little on the fence about forgiving Braden's actions, but by the end he won me over. This was a great story about self-discovery and second chances. I was emotionally invested in the characters by the end. Enjoyable read.

A little boring and had to skip a lot just to finish. Didn’t like the OM drama. Especially how detailed the heroine was about describing how attracted and turned on she was for OM and this was during her working with the hero.

Finding Karma by Stacy M. Wray is a standalone New Adult novel and is told from the point of view of the main female character Karma Mickelson. Karma and her best friend Braden had an undeniable connection even as kids. When Braden's family unexpectedly moves away, Karma is heartbroken. But time moves on until Braden is suddenly back senior year. The two reconnect and a romantic relationship soon takes hold. Braden is by definition the perfect boyfriend. Kind, loving, an amazing student and star soccer player. Soon Karma begins to feel like she is getting lost in his shadow. What ensues is a beautiful story of self-discovery, love, healing and second chances.

I just have to start out by saying that I loved the way the author wrote and told the story. I wasn't sure when I started the novel if switching from present day to the teen years between the two main characters was going to be confusing to keep up with or not. But to be completely honest, I ended up really enjoying it. I found myself getting sucked into the present only to completely switch to the teen years and getting completely entranced with that part of Karma's story. I think stories from a character's past help to further explain the feelings a character has and why they react to a particular situation the way they do in the present day. It allows the reader to really get to know the characters, to connect on a deeper level with them and to further explain the amazing connection between Karma and Braden.

Karma was such a relatable, strong character. She recognized when she was beginning to feel lost and made the choice to put herself first. That's such a difficult but admirable decision one can make. Braden was also so charming. A true swoon-worthy character! He stopped at nothing to win back the heart of the one who got away. So endearing and makes you love him that much more!

This was truly a coming-of-age story told in a unique way. I enjoyed it so much and definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a sweet and endearing love story!
