I just absolutely love this cute, charming, cozy mystery series. Sweet Deceit is the fourth book in the small town, Sweet Cove Mystery series and I enjoy the series more and more with each new addition. The crimes are well-plotted, the setting is inviting, and the characters are all loveable and endearing.

I am a huge fan of the close-knit group of entrepreneurial sisters, as well as the beloved Mr. Finch, and of course the two felines with their spunk, spirit, and special powers. It’s a magical series in more ways than one and always a feel-good, delightful read!

Another good Mystery!

Angie, Jenna, Ellie, and Courtney are at it again! Trying to solve a 25 year old murder.

They all are at a house that Betty real estate agent is showing to Mr. Finch, guest of the B and B who wants to stay in Sweet Cove since he and Courtney have taken over his brother's candy shop!

While they all, are looking over the house, a bomb is found in the basement and all hell breaks out. The house is found out to be where a murder took place 25 years earlier. The son of the murder victim comes back to try to claim the house back from his mother! Who finds out died at a nursing home!

He asks the Roseland sisters to help find the person who killed his father 25 years ago. The sisters are not sure they can help with their powers if the murder was so long ago!

The story will keep you guessing until the end and the truth comes out.

Well written and I am on my way back to Sweet Cove for some other mysteries!

Sweet Deceit Angie and her sisters (and Mr. Finch, who I keep seeing as Finch on Person Of Interest, I can't help it) are out solving mysteries again, with the help of cats Euclid and Circe.  This time, the gang works to find out who planted a bomb in a vacant house and also who killed the guy who lived next door to the potential bomb crater.

A really good plot in this one, but again with an abrupt ending.  The mysteries aren't so much solved as stumbled on. Which, pardon my crass metaphor, is kind of like spending all night making out with a guy and he finishes within 30 seconds. Yeah, it got the job done, but it could've been better if it was drawn out a little.

But anyway, I digress.

I also don't really understand the teasing the sisters do when one of them gets a boyfriend.  What, are you 8th graders?

Enjoyable book and a series I've come to enjoy, but not without a few eye-rolling moments.

This was another good installment in a sweet (pun intended!) little series, and I always feel like the characters are old friends. The sisters were so lucky to have a friend in their life like Mr. Finch who went into partnership with Courtney. I love how they all had different interests and pursued those instead of just wondering if they could do it. The cats are awesome in how they can tell what a person is like.

I hadn't quite guessed whodunit. At first I was really sure, then the doubts came in, so I just read and enjoyed. The showdown was pretty nail biting, but that was the cool thing about having three other sisters. They always had a game plan and each others' backs. Hope to come back to Sweet Cove again soon!

This is a 21 book series and fortunately all of the books are available for our reading pleasure now! I’m in the middle of several book series just waiting for each next book to be released. The story is left hanging in a couple of the books. However, no need to worry with these…

So, each book here has more than just a murder to solve. There are other things to ponder over, too. Angie is the main character who we see everything through her eyes. She has three sisters, one of which is her fraternal twin. Her twin is Jenna, Courtney is the youngest sibling, and Ellie is the sister most resistant to learning about the supernatural abilities the siblings possess. Yes, there is a bit of supernatural witchy happenings, however, at this point they are fairly minor and seem to only show as “feelings”. Angie gets “feelings” or “thrumming” in her bloodstream when something bad is about to happen.

Like the previous book, this book didn’t have a murder occur in the present time, rather it referred to a murder that happened decades ago and the sisters were asked to assist in solving it.

I must also mention the most surprising helpers of crime solving and that is the sisters two cats - an orange Maine Coon named Euclid and an ebony and white cat named Circe. These cats watch out for the sisters and warn them when a not so nice person is present by growling, hissing, and even attacking a would be murderer! They are great judges of character and often hang out on top of the refrigerator so they can see everything and everybody and so they can listen to what is happening.

Very cute reads so far and I’m enjoying the sisters growing “feelings” and hope Ellie eventually embraces her abilities so she can stop stressing!

Copied from this read: “Angie said, ‘We can add this to the list of things to solve. The bomb in the Cook family’s house. Who killed Brian Hudson’s father? Who really wrote this letter and why?’”

Everything is solved in the end, so no cliff hangers. Next book is “Sweetness & Light (A Sweet Cove Mystery Book 5)”

I'm afraid that this book is the end of the line for me. I've tolerated all this psychic abilities of the sisters ... and even those ridiculous cats. But now we have the police Chief asking for assistance from the cats to help solve a murder?! I cannot bear it anymore. The beginning of the book was very good. It stayed strictly with the mystery. But then the cats starting playing a more significant role in helping to solve the mystery. The sisters seemed to have totally relied on Euclid and Circe for their reactions to the scene of the crime, evidence, and the suspects despite the sisters having their own psychic skills. The first book had only 2 sisters with psychic skills and now all 4 have them. In book #3, I said to myself I would try #4 just to see if the psychic cats would lessen in the book but instead it seems to have increased. This is way beyond reasonable, so I've decided that this will be my last book.

Very disappointing. Get rid of the cats, get rid of the psychic abilities, then I may possibly try another book.

I give this at most 3 stars.

Love this series! J A Whiting is a wonderful author and writes my kinda books. Love all her series! This series has amazing cats, recipes, charming characters, an 18 room Victorian mansion, 4 sisters who like each other and live together quite compatibly, a mystery to solve (sometimes 2!), evil doers doing evil deeds, paranormal “gifts”, a sheriff who understands and appreciates the ladies’ “gifts”, blossoming romances (no sex), no graphic violence, and no cliffhanger endings. Great books to curl up in a comfy chair with a cozy blanket and a cup of tea and enjoy on a rainy day. I have the next one already on my “to be read” shelf. ENJOY!

Angie and Jenna go to view a house with Mr. Finch. As Betty gets ready to turn on a light Angie gets a premonition and she and Jenna rush everyone out of the house. Her premonition turns out to be correct again as they later discover they all could have been killed. The girls are also asked to look into a 25 yr old murder.
This is another great story from J.A. Whiting. There is not as much humor in this one, while there is some violence, it is nothing too severe or graphic. I'm looking forward to the next book.

This book is filled with thrills, excitement and danger.

A 25 year old murder, a house to view subject to purchasing and opening of a new business are some of the highlights in this book. And, of course, another impending romance may be commencing too. Will the police chief ever give the sisters big, shiny badges?

Book Five has wedding plans, catering, chocolate candy making and baking so stay tuned.

Delightfully Entertaining

It's so refreshing to read an entertaining, well written novel that isn't filled with smut. J A Whiting did a terrific job of filling this fun novel with a delightful cast of characters and every book has a very interesting mystery that won't let you stop reading until you reach the end!

This book picks up right after Book 3, but each book can stand alone. The murder took place 25 years ago but the action is all happening now. Nothing about the plot taxes the brain, but the characters are pleasant and the book is enjoyable.

Each book this series takes a different tack.

Even though every mystery as a thread from a previous, it’s very different from the previous which is a welcome change. These are well worth the read.

As with the previous books, they are a bit far-fetched as far as their abilities, but still a fun and interesting read.
