The little girl was lying there limp in her father’s arms, barely breathing.

Her tiny fingers clung to his shirt when her heart monitor flatlined.

Immediately, I stacked my hands on her chest and started compressions.

The doctor began shouting at me and tried ripping me off her, saying I wasn't authorized to touch her.

I shoved him aside, and put my hands back over her heart as I counted out loud, begging her to live.

Suddenly, I heard a single beep and her heart monitor jumped back to life.

Her father fell to the bed and he held her tight, as she buried her face in his shoulder.

I took a step back, and the doctor grabbed my wrist and started dragging me out the door.

The billionaire’s growl cut through the room,

"Let her go."

He crossed the room, his expression cold.

"My daughter is alive… because of you."

Holy h3ll!

This book WRECKED ME! HOLY....just...I sobbed so hard during this story. Y'all buckle up.
The story was heartbreaking, uplifting, holding the truth of letting go and listening to those dying...but also, remembering to live.
Reyna and Logan had a hard past. She lost her brother. He his beloved wife. She became a ghost. He, utterly devoted to his daughter, Jamie. Until the illness that took her mom visited itself upon her.
The story is laced with struggle, a vindictive doctor, survival and finally...understanding that letting go and saying "enough" isn't giving up, it's just saying 'when' and realizing the choice isn't the choice of those not suffering thru the medical industrial complexes "treatments."
The story is as beautiful as it is brutal. You'll need tissues, and possibly someone to hold you after.
I need to read a comedy after this one.
I both hated and loved the ending. Kept it real, no sugar coating what reality dishes out, which is refreshing when almost all stories I've read have an 11th hr save. It also highlighted the truth thag life goes on...new life is created...it's not shameful to be happy...more so shameful to forget those we loved and lost.

💖💖💖

Beautifully written book. The author handled dying and grief very well. Both Logan and Reyna could relate to each other due to their grief of losing a loved one. However the love they found with each tempered their grief. Good job Ms. Wilder!
