“You think you know what matters in life. Chasing after a dream. Catching it. Holding onto it. Fighting for it, if necessary. Until everything comes to a jolting halt, and you get it. Finally, you get it when it becomes crystal clear that everything you thought mattered doesn’t matter at all, unless you have the one thing that really does.”
For Holden Ashford, this is CeCe, the love of his life. When she's left reeling from an act of violence that abruptly points their lives in another direction, CeCe is no longer sure of the career she's gone after heart and soul. Holden begins to wonder if she is sure of him as well.
Temptation has a way of finding us when we're at our weakest point. And when country superstar Jacob Bartley sets his sights on CeCe, love will be put to its ultimate test.
Virginia author Inglath Cooper fell in love with reading as a little girl, devouring most of the books in her elementary school library. At some point, she decided she wanted to pursue a writing career, creating romance fiction that did for others what her favorite books have done for her. “I love character-driven books that leave me feeling as if I’ve really known these people and make me wish I didn’t have to turn the last page.”
“Romance fiction has always appealed to me because it deals with so many of the relationships in a woman’s life. Not only the love of her life, but often her relationship with her mother, sister or best friend. Romance authors have so much room to explore many of the meaningful moments and transitions in women’s lives. And who doesn’t love a good love story?”
Inglath most often writes stories about love and life that are set in small Virginia towns like the one where she grew up. “I like to think the flavor of my hometown shows up in my books both in their setting and through the characters who people it.”
When aspiring writers ask her how to be an author, she says, “Everything I know about writing books I learned from reading books.”
Inglath has been chosen as a RITA® Award winner for best long contemporary romance novel given out each year by Romance Writers of America. Her books are available through Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, itunes.com, and Kobobooks.com.
Outside of writing, Inglath is actively involved in dog rescue, working with The Franklin County Humane Society to place dogs and cats in need of rehoming. She volunteers her time in every capacity possible: serving on the Board of Directors, fundraising, photographing dogs and cats available for adoption and serving as a foster home. “Helping an abused or neglected dog go on to have a wonderful life with a family who loves them is more rewarding than I can possibly say.”
I absolutely love this series and the only thing keeping from giving it a five star rating is that it's a series of short stories that always pulls in but then ends on an abrupt cliffhanger where you have to wait patiently for months for the next one to be released.
In part nine Cece and Holden have to overcome an attack from a deranged fan (book 8) that took something that they can never get back. While working on their loss they find a way to hold on to themselves while Cece is approached to help to a charity by someone that also has another motive in mind.
I normally don’t pick books up in the middle of the series, or in this case, 9 books in. I actually didn’t feel like I needed to read anything before this book to understand what was going on, which was nice. This book starts with CeCe in the hospital after have an incident with a stalker. There was a lot of things in this book, but my favorite was the forgiveness the characters showed toward the stalker’s father. I did enjoy this book, but I didn’t love it and won’t be reading any more in this series.
The music seems to be a calming influence in the lives of Thomas, Holden and CeCe. They definitely need that because life has been relentless in delivering one blow after another. CeCe is in depression as she tries to recover from her fall, but finds a way to help someone else instead of becoming bitter. CeCe dealt with Holden's stalker much better than he handles her new admirer. Even though CeCe is what Holden lives for, he realizes he has to let CeCe go, on her own and let the cards fall where they may. Heading into the last book in this series, we have to wonder if CeCe is strong enough to ward off the advances from a very desirable man. With all we've learned about the characters, and all the hardships they've already gone through, I think she can live a very full life and still keep her marriage intact.
You, Me and a Palm Tree: Nashville Book 9 is by Ingath Cooper. CeCe is in a coma. Charlotte Geary has finally decided to get CeCe out of the way. She signed on to work Mira’s birthday party at CeCe and Holden’s house. After checking out the place, she handed Mia, another server, a glass of for CeCe to try before it was served to the rest of the group. However, CeCe has just found out she is pregnant and refused to drink it. Lucky for her, the glass was poisoned with antifreeze! Charlotte has to regroup to finish her off. Will she succeed or will she be caught first?
I have loved the who!e series...until now. I'm just disappointed with where the story line went. And previously I would have been thrilled over Case and Mira's wedding, but the situation with CeCe ruined it for me. Grieving is one thing. I have been there and I understand that it takes on all different forms. But the wishy-washy attitude and talking to/meeting Jacob (who admits multiple times that he has bad intentions), behind Holden's back, is not something she would tolerate from Holden, and is disappointing. I'm not sure why more readers weren't let down.
Love it Just read sample Looking forward to readers the rest I would recommend this to my daughter to read
Love the sample. Look forward to reading the book! Have really enjoyed the series of books. Would recommend everyone to read this about close relationship of friends and family
Once again, Holden and CeCe's relationship is being tested and they need to find their way back to each other because that is where their strength is . In each other. Of course we get plenty from the rest of the group. Love the close knit relationship they all have.
I read this brief book in a matter of hours before i started rrading the series it belonged in. Since it’s #9 in a series of books by this author, I was unfamiliar with the characters, their history and their back stories. Context is everything so I had to circle back to read earlier books in this series and now I understand the book after the second reading. CeCe and Holden are recovering from a stalker who injured CeCe and caused her to miscarry their first child together. Much of the book deals with the constructive ways they've chosen to deal with the trauma and find their way back to music snd to each other.
I have absolutely loved this whole series from the beginning Holden and Thomas Lila and Cece it's a must read series.I usually don't like cliffhangers but Inglath Cooper just writes a story that you just follow and want to find out what happens.Cece and Holden are going through a tough time after an attack on Cece in which she miscarried their unborn child, they are each grieving in their own way,but their love for each other just knows no bounds. Cece is a person that has the biggest heart she and Holden are helping her attackers father.now a new threat is coming at them In the name of Jacob he supports an orphanage and wants Cece to be the spokesperson,he's trying to come between her and Holden, well he succeed? What will happen to Cece and Holden? I guess we await part 10 and it can't come soon enough!!
I must say, Ms. Cooper is a genius in that she keeps me coming back for more with these low low prices of $2.99 a novella. And it's money well spent. I've loved CeCe, Holden, Thomas and the gang since the invention of Barefoot Outlook and this book just showed another layer to them.
After the horrendous accident that changes CeCe and Holden's lives forever, they are left to try to cope with their situation together and separately. In the midst of that is the realization two wrongs don't make a right and trust is VERY important.
But..in book 10, is that trust misplaced? I'm off to One-Click Part 10 right now.
I really started off loving this series. I love the characters especially Holden, CeeCee and Thomas. It is starting to get expensive reading this series. This is the ninth book and their is still more to go and as much as I love their story I would like a conclusion. CeeCee and Holden just lost the baby and the stalker is now dead. CeeCee has to come to terms with the tragedy that happened. Holden is trying to keep it together for himself and CeeCee, while dealing with Jacob's attraction to his wife. I just want them to get their happily every after.
-Oh how I love this series- CeCe & Holden and Thomas as their story continues from a cliffhanger of an ending in book 8 CeCe is attacked in their own home by a crazy stalker fan. I just want more because the book just wasn't long enough and I can't wait for book 10. CeCe and Holden need that happy ending for sure. I love Inglath!!
The characters, the setting, and the storyline are always great. I would have given 5 stars but the book is just too short. I need more. Anyone looking for a quick afternoon read will love this.
My old friends...as soon as I was drawn to this book it felt like I had missed two best no strike that three Thomas too friends. This book flows and the characters deepen- such a great story.
Love the series, just wishing each one was longer and the wait in between shorter. How many will there be in this series, I'm wondering??!! So now begins another wait
I absolutely abhor cliffhangers. Thankfully I have already downloaded the last book. How much can two people take? Evidently a lot. On to the next book for me.
