Mysterious things continue to happen on Starland every day as the girls wait to see who will go on the next Wish Mission. Piper has a dream that she will be the one and indeed she is. Piper has a lot to learn when she finds herself working at a diner. Confident that she's identified her Wisher's wish, Piper enjoys her time on Wishworld. Piper's psychic powers have alerted her that she will be the next Star Darling traveling to Wishworld, where she will hopefully not only grant her wish, but perhaps find a way to help her friends return to their proper personalities. Zappa will delight with this heartwarming entry to the series that is full of magic and lore. Where will Piper's dreams take her next?
This book is a great example of how each character getting their own story can be used to it’s advantage. Since Piper is a dreamy, meditative character, the book can use a lot of dreams and dream imagery that wouldn’t work as well for other characters.
It’s nice to get inside the head of one of the character that hasn’t been featured as much.
Sadly, she’s still affected by the oddness of the last book, and keeps interrupting others. It’s slightly annoying while in Starland but moves into full on irritating when she’s trying to help her wisher.
I’m still kind of hazy on the secret talent thing. I’m not sure it stood out to me what some of the other girl’s talent’s were.
This books wish was another one that feels appropriate for the age range with a resolution that might be just a bit too easy, but was done well. Also, this is the first one that I didn’t guess within the first few pages on Wishworld.
Piper working in the diner was pretty fun.
One thing I didn’t think about until this book: the Starlings don’t know a lot of Earth figures of speech but I guess Starlings speak English? Or they have a universal translator? Will any of the missions go to non-English speaking locales?
