Another booklist suggestion I'm glad I picked up. Bright pictures and easy to follow sentences kept my little ones entertained. What a fun book for spring.
For me this one was between three and four stars. I rounded up both for the fantastic illustrations and in consideration that I am not the target audience, which I think really would enjoy this book a great deal. I did like the pictures of the different animals, which were both realistic and also suitable for young children. I also appreciated the simple, but still factual text that accompanied each picture.
Jack borrowed this book from the Ashland Public Library.
Each page shows a different animal that could be in your backyard and what it does. He seemed to like the animals and bright colors, but as always with him lately, he’s not really into sitting still for whole books unless they are one of his favorites.
Lovely illustrations. Nice, hefty adjective-full sentences. Lots of info conveyed on each page for toddler length attention spans. Animals, colors, and action verbs show good text doesn’t need to rhyme.
Beautiful pictures! This book has animals in it that I haven't seen in other books before... bees, and a mole and worm for example. Some of them mom did not know a sound for. but I liked the pictures and pointing at the flowers and balls (berries).
